So much for that rumored break . Just days after Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart supposedly split, the actor led the cast of Twilight in a 21st birthday celebration for his girlfriend on Saturday night. Sources tell Us Weekly a private party was held at Rockwell’s Bar & Grill in Vancouver, as “Rob led the crowd singing” for Kristen, the insider says, adding: “You could tell she was so embarrassed but in a cute way.” Stewart received a motorcycle as a gift and an onlooker makes it clear she and Pattinson are as hot and as heavy as ever: “Rob and Kristin were together all night. They held hands and he kissed her cheek a bunch of times.” Breaking Dawn will be finished filming within a few weeks. But expect to see these two together a lot over the next few months, as they promote the film’s November release.
Ice Cube and Disney have partnered up for Cube’s newest film project, Chrome & Paint . The film, named after one of Cube’s own songs, will center around car culture. Cube is set to co-direct and co-produce the film with Mark Alvarez, his partner in Cube Vision productions. Cube will also co-write the film with Eva Vives, who wrote the 2002 drama Raising Victor Vargas . The film was originally set to have a very dark and gritty tone, but with Disney on board, the story has been reworked. The film will be about a fatherless young teen who begins to rebuild a car that once belonged to his father. Ice Cube will be featured in the film as a friend of the teen’s father. In rebuilding the car together, the two begin to heal after their loss. After a troubled, 20-year road from script-development to screen, Passion Play is coming to select theaters. Then, just in case you blink, it will hit DVD three weeks later . Word of mouth out of Toronto was that the film was a disaster, and the theater-to-DVD release window pretty much backs that up. But after watching the trailer, I can’t help but wonder: Can a film with Mickey Rourke falling in love with an angel played by Megan Fox while trying not to get killed by Bill Murray be totally worthless?
This will be the visual-effects expert’s full-length directing debut. By Kara Warner Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” Photo: Marvel / Fox The highly anticipated (if slightly delayed and problem-plagued) “Deadpool” movie has officially been assigned a director, VFX expert Tim Miller. According to Deadline , 20th Century Fox selected Miller to helm the pic due to his extensive background in visual effects. (Miller worked on “X-Men,” “X2,” “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” and “Night at the Museum”). “X-Men Origins: Deadpool” will be Miller’s first time directing a full-length feature film. Although the casting announcements have not yet been made, Ryan Reynolds, who portrayed the mouthy mercenary in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” is expected to star. He recently told MTV News that he hopes the movie gets into production soon. “Worry not,” Reynolds told MTV News. “I want it to happen. I just feel like when it does happen, it has to be done the exact right way. I’ve been a part of it for way, way too long, and it has to be done extremely well. “There’s a lot I could say about it right now, but there are moving parts that I really want to see to fruition and I want to see them happen, so I don’t want to get into and put the cart before the horse,” he added. “So we’ll see.” However, Reynolds was quick to indicate that the delays aren’t due to any problems with the script. In fact, the screenplay by “Zombieland” writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick is, well, perfect. “The script is exactly where I want it to be,” he said. “[The script is], tonally speaking, perfect.” Since Reynolds has said in the past that he’d only do “Deadpool” or zombie cop movie “R.I.P.D.,” this announcement and forward movement by Fox — and the fact that Reynolds’ co-star just dropped out of “R.I.P.D.” — might help nudge the “Green Lantern” star toward officially signing on for “Deadpool.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com . ‘When we meet Hal Jordan, he’s a cocky, sarcastic, arrogant type of guy and he’s given this extraordinary gift,’ he tells MTV News. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Ryan Reynolds in “Green Lantern” Photo: Warner Bros. The first time we see Ryan Reynolds’ Hal Jordan in the trailer for “Green Lantern,” he wakes up in bed next to a woman he doesn’t seem to have known for long. “Make yourself at home,” he tells her as he rushes out. “There’s water in the tap.” A gracious host he’s not. That trailer introduction to Jordan is a fairly accurate representation of the test-pilot we meet in the beginning of the upcoming film, before an encounter with an intergalactic visitor gifts him with a power ring that turns Jordan into a superhero. “When we meet Hal Jordon, he’s a cocky, sarcastic, arrogant type of guy and he’s given this extraordinary gift,” Reynolds told MTV News at CinemaCon recently. “Rather than [have] that amplify those character traits, he’s in fact humbled by it and given purpose in his life, which is what he lacked.” Audiences won’t have to wait too long before Jordan undergoes that transformation. “We’re into it [early],” Reynolds said. “It’s an accelerated process. You don’t really want the movie to start in the third act.” Jordan isn’t the only character who will experience a full-scale reinvention. In the new movie, Sinestro (Mark Strong) is a faithful member of the Green Lantern Corps that Jordan joins. But as DC Comics fans know, Sinestro will eventually take a dark turn — one that will be hinted at in the film. “You definitely feel it. But he’s an ally in this film,” Reynolds said. He added about Jordan’s relationship with Sinestro, “I would say it’s contentious. Humans are looked down upon by a lot of the Green Lanterns — they’re kind of a sub-species.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Green Lantern.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com . Russell Brand’s remake is ‘a sporadically charming riff,’ critics say. By Eric Ditzian Russell Brand in “Arthur” Photo: Warner Bros. In the summer of 1981, legendary New York Times film critic Vincent Canby called “Arthur” a “terrifically engaging, high-spirited screwball comedy.” The movie would go on to become the fourth-highest-grossing film of the year and nab four Oscar nominations, including one for its star, Dudley Moore. Russell Brand’s 2011 remake of the classic comedy is neither attracting the critical plaudits nor anticipating the boffo box office performance and awards season love of its predecessor. Which is not to say critics have found nothing to celebrate in this new “Arthur.” Most reviewers have responded positively to Brand’s performance. What they take issue with is the deviations the new movie has taken from the original — not so much in a storytelling sense, but in thematic and comedic ones. For those critiques and more, read on for what the pros are saying about “Arthur.” The Story “Brand’s character, Arthur Bach, is heir to a billion-dollar fortune who spends his days and nights drinking, dressing up as Batman, carousing through New York, and generally living the high life. In all things he is supervised by Hobson (Helen Mirren), his nanny since childhood and surrogate mother. His actual mother, Vivienne (Geraldine James), disapproves of his nonsense and threatens to cut him off from the money if he won’t marry Susan Johnson (Jennifer Garner), who comes from a wealthy family and can reassure investors that the Bach empire is in good hands. This is, in Arthur’s words, ‘a macabre conspiracy to inveigle me into a loveless marriage’ — a good example of the eloquently humorous turns of phrase at which the film occasionally excels.” — Eric D. Snider, Film.com The Comparison, Part I “Arthur, of course, is supposed to be selfish, but Dudley Moore, in the 1981 version, showed you the twinkle of innocence that Arthur’s drunkenness covered up. Even sloshed, he kept surprising himself. Moore was a happy rascal. Brand is more like a reptile who plays at being innocent. His Arthur goes to AA (an all-too- inevitable joke), but it almost doesn’t matter if he’s drunk or not, since Russell Brand always seems to be drunk … on his one-note joy-buzzer brain. If he really wants to be a star, he may need the actor’s version of an intervention, something to stand between his talent and what looks like his relentless self-love.” — Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly The Comparison, Part II “Much of the humor in the original, more screwball ‘Arthur’ doesn’t hold up well, but the subtler, sweeter laughs in the remake feel timeless … Although the stories are essentially the same, the new ‘Arthur’ feels like a much different movie than the original, which didn’t care about any of the people who were sober. This one helps us understand where several of its characters are coming from, why they’re together and what’s funny about them. So, even if you go in with some skepticism, I bet you’ll leave convinced it was worth doing.” — Chris Hewitt, Minneapolis Pioneer Press The Laughs “But that cast is precisely what makes the new ‘Arthur’ so frustrating. The actors are good enough to wring occasional laughs out of remarkably slight material — every fifth seemingly improvised line that comes out of Brand’s mouth is funny in the same verbose way his stand-up is funny, and there’s a sweet mini-movie in his co-dependent relationship with Mirren’s character. But they’re fighting a tired story full of pratfalls, barn-broad gags, cartoonish stuffed shirts and the exact same story beats you’ve seen in a million rom-coms, right down to the wedding-aisle confrontation.” — Mike Russell, The Oregonian The Final Word “Is a sporadically charming riff on such a familiar property enough to give Russell Brand and Greta Gerwig the bumps that it feels like the industry wants for them? They’ve both been tapped, but they haven’t really had an organic moment where something they were in went from hit to phenomenon. And it feels like Hollywood wants to give them that moment. But this sort of innocuous remake, amiable and ultimately sort of dull, probably isn’t how it’s going to happen. Dudley Moore had a real moment with the original, and this is just a karaoke version. Brand and Gerwig deserve something better than this, something more uniquely suited to their undeniable appeal.” — Drew McWeeny, HitFix.com Check out everything we’ve got on “Arthur.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . But when the “Twilight” heartthrob was growing up, he had a few lovely ladies covering his bedroom walls. “I was always obsessed with Kate Moss. On my bedroom wall, I had a poster of Linda Blair and Kate Moss,” he told Elle of his celebrity crushes growing up. “I always liked Jane Fonda. Who else? Ellen Burstyn.” Pattinson, these days, is as hot as British supermodel Moss was back in the ’90s. He’s a screen god with a growing r
Danny McBride, Will Ferrell, Jack Black, Seth Rogen, Elijah Wood and John C. Reilly star as past and future Beastie Boys. By Gil Kaufman Seth Rogen, Elijah Wood and Danny McBride in the “Fight For Your Right Revisited” trailer Photo: Capitol Records Adam Horowitz must throw some epic pool parties. That’s one of the major takeaways from the two-minute trailer released on Thursday for the Beastie Boys’ celebrity-packed short film, “Fight for Your Right Revisited.” The trailer dropped just as fans got their second taste of Beastie goodness from the group’s upcoming Hot Sauce Committee Part Two album (due out May 3), the funktastic throwback jam, “Make Some Noise.” One of the short’s stars, “Your Highness” star Danny McBride, broke down the action for MTV News a few months ago at Sundance, dishing on his portrayal of B-Boy MCA alongside Elijah Woods’ Ad-Rock and Seth Rogen’s Mike D after the film’s debut. But even his description of the demented action in the film that chronicles what happened to the Beasties after the events of the original “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party)” video in 1987 couldn’t prepare fans for the window-smashing, F-bomb dropping, “Wait, was that …?” action in the finished product. Among the other celebs popping up in the clip: Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Jack Black, Rainn Wilson, Rashida Jones, Jason Schwartzman, Ted Danson, Steve Buscemi, Stanley Tucci, Susan Sarandon, Chlo
With the franchise reboot 3D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy about to make hooter history by blowing 3D loads all over Asia’s theater screens, we here at Skin Central thought we’d take a moment to offer a one-handed salute to one of the most skintillating seductresses of the Asian persuasion: Chinese eye candy Qi Shu . In Hong Kong, where the Taiwanese Qi Shu got her start, “X” rated films, known locally as “Category III”, play alongside family fare in mall megaplexes. In the 1990s, almost half of the films made in Hong Kong had this rating. Category III films are not ghettoized into different movie theaters, video stores or even awards shows from “mainstream” fare; in 1994 actor Anthony Wong won the Hong Kong equivalent of the Oscar for Best Actor for his performance in the Category III horror shocker The Untold Story . Category III films come in two basic flavors: gratuitous violence and gratuitous sex. Some, like Horrible High Heels(1996) , combine the two. The light, comedic Sex and Zen series is firmly in the “sex” column. Based on a 17th century dirty novel called The Carnal Prayer Mat , the Sex and Zen films feature lavish set design and elaborate period costumes that evoke the horny old days of ancient China. The costumes quickly come off, however, for acrobatic sex scenes that will put the crouching tiger in your hidden dragon. Sex and Zen 2 chronicles the adventures of a man with one overwhelming obsession: to be the best lover in the world. A noble quest, to be sure. But he has one mammoth-mammed obstacle to overcome first: Qi Shu , in her very first nude role, as a demonic creature made hot, hot flesh who schtups everything she sees in order to drain its life force. In other words, she’s a vampire who fucks instead of sucks. Over the course of the film, Qi kills an entire family with her bone-sucking sexual powers, forcing the daughter of the clan to get her revenge in the breast way possible: by bumping clams with the creature. For if Qi orgasms first during her predatory pooning, she loses her powers. Poor girl. Qi Shu has covered up somewhat since making the transition to Hollywood films like The Transporter , but in her day, she was hotter than a five-pepper Schezuan curry and nuder than a plucked chicken in a Chinese grocer’s window. Before appearing in Category III films, she posed nude for the Chinese editions of both Playboy and Penthouse . She was only 19 when she made Sex and Zen 2 , and the nubile delights of her B-cup boobies and neat little bush are enough to give any man yellow fever. Just don’t freak out when you see her monstrous demon dildo during the climactic scissor sister showdown. Hungry for more Qi Shu pork? Check out all her breast nudity on MrSkin.com!
Now, before you go reading the headline the wrong way, this new clip from Thor doesn’t feature a cameo from Ant-Man or Wasp. The cameo is tiny, not the Avenger. But there is a shot that seems to feature a character that we knew would have at least a small part in the film.
