Other than comedies, sports movies are probably ruined in trailers more than another other genre. Mostly that’s because sports movies are generally predictable and cheesy but, even with that caveat, the trailer for Warrior might cross the line. Directed by Gavin O’Connor and starring Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton, the film follows two brothers who simultaneously, for different reasons, enter into the… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : /Film Discovery Date : 07/04/2011 23:00 Number of articles : 2
Baruchel will play Pattinson’s boss in the David Cronenberg film. By Aly Semigran Jay Baruchel Photo: Steve Granitz/ WireImage Robert Pattinson just got a new (fictional) boss … and it’s Jay Baruchel. Baruchel (“How to Train Your Dragon,” “Knocked Up,” “Undeclared”) has joined the cast of “Cosmopolis,” David Cronenberg’s upcoming big-screen adaptation of Don DeLillo’s 2003 novel, according to Deadline New York . The novel is a modern reinterpretation of James Joyce’s “Ulysses.” In the film, Pattinson will play Eric Packer, a “financial wunderkind” in New York at the beginning of the 2000 dot-com bubble burst, who one day takes a major risk that could put his life in jeopardy. Baruchel, who is known for playing more reserved types, will take on the role of the company’s shy founder who also acts as Packer’s conscience in the film. The actor, who turns 29 on April 9, can add “Cosmopolis” to his growing list of projects, which includes the sequel to “How to Train Your Dragon” and the hockey comedy “Goon” . Baruchel’s casting adds to the already-diverse ensemble for Cronenberg’s “Cosmpolis,” which Pattinson heralded as a “great cast” that includes Oscar-winner Juliette Binoche, Samantha Morton, Paul Giamatti (who joked to MTV that he would “get to stalk” the “Twilight” star on set) and relative unknown Sarah Gadon , who will play Packer’s estranged wife. During a chat with MTV, Pattinson, who previously revealed that he immediately said yes to Cronenberg’s offer to appear in the film, said of his co-star Gabon, “I’ve seen a couple of things she’s done. She’s really good. She has a great face.” Pattinson said he’s currently preparing for “Cosmopolis” by “working with a dialect coach … there’s this very specific accent.” What do you think of the casting of Jay Baruchel in “Cosmopolis”? ‘It’s important to get Bethany’s story out,’ singer/actress tells MTV News about real-life story of surfer who lost her arm in shark attack. By Kara Warner Carrie Underwood Photo: MTV News Because the movie “Soul Surfer” is based on the true and inspiring story of teen surfer Bethany Hamilton, who lost her arm in a shark attack but overcame all odds to become a pro, the film was a real labor of love for everyone involved. Particularly so first-time actress Carrie Underwood. When MTV News caught up with the country music superstar, she explained why she decided to make her acting debut in “Surfer,” which opens on Friday. She also opened up about discovering how different the worlds of music and film really are. “This whole movie, this whole project is important,” Underwood said about signing on. “It’s important to get Bethany’s story out, and people being entertained but also, hopefully, people leave the movie theater feeling different about themselves in their lives and inspired,” she said. Underwood added that this was a project she really believed in and of which she wanted to be a part. “It wasn’t some silly nothing movie that in 10 years nobody is going to care [about]. Hopefully, people watch this and really take something away from it.” Regarding the differences between performing onstage and performing on a film set, Underwood said she felt a little bit like a fish out of water at first, but thanks to support from the cast and crew, she got through it. “Oh gosh, I think my singing world and the movie world are way, way, way different,” she said. “I know what I’m doing when I’m singing, I feel like on the set, everyone was so nice and they helped me out so much. They were very patient with me and very understanding that this was my first movie. … Onstage I know what to do, but in front of the lights and being on the movie set, I was pretty lost most of the time,” she admitted. “But they were great.” Are you excited to see Carrie make her acting debut in “Soul Surfer”? ‘It’s kind of interesting, as well, having to do it in the context of PG-13,’ he tells MTV News. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson Photo: MTV News Robert Pattinson has gone on record as being livid that photos of his “Breaking Dawn” sex session with Kristen Stewart have leaked on the Web. “Find out who these little sh–s are and just hack into their computers and destroy them,” he instructed “Twilight” fans. His beef was not only that the images represented raw footage, but that they spoiled a bit of the surprise that director Bill Condon and the rest of the “Twilight” gang have in store for audiences when the film hits theaters in November. And, as RPattz explained to us, they’ve got some special stuff planned. “It’s kind of incredible,” he said. “I saw a prelim of it. [Bill] has really, really good ideas for it.” The tricky thing, of course, is to shoot a sex scene that lives up to the expectations of readers of Stephenie Meyer’s book yet adheres to the restrictions of the MPAA’s rating system. “We had some really interesting ideas about it,” Pattinson explained. “It’s kind of interesting, as well, having to do it in the context of PG-13. “You can’t do blatant,” he added with a laugh. “That’s all been done in other stuff anyway, like saying, ‘You just do it really, really fast!’ ” Rob should certainly know. “Bel Ami,” his upcoming romantic drama co-starring Uma Thurman, features a whole lot of, er, blatant sexuality. How blatant? “Lot of my crack in it!” he laughed last summer. “I think there’s quite a lot of nudity.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . ‘Everything’s in snow, but the costumes are very colorful,’ he tells MTV News. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Lily Collins Photo: John Shearer/ WireImage Two cinematic reimaginings of Snow White are currently in the works, but lest you think both are going to turn out more or less the same, simply listen to how director Tarsem Singh conceives of his film’s look . “It’s actually like if you looked at Gaudi’s architecture, based in England, done like a turn-of-the-century Russian film by an Indian guy,” he told MTV News. Right. We’re guessing that the competing Snow White tale — from Rupert Sanders, making his directorial debut after a string of hyper-stylized TV commercials — isn’t going to encroach on Tarsem’s territory, and that’s just the way he wants it. “There’s a brown guy telling you a Snow White tale to white people. Just by definition, when you put different ingredients, you get a different stew,” he said. His yet-untitled film stars Julia Roberts as the evil queen, Armie Hammer (“The Social Network”) as the handsome prince and, after being cast earlier this month, Lily Collins (“The Blind Side”) as Snow White herself. Why Collins, a relative unknown whose profile is on the rise after being cast in the adaptation of the “Mortal Instruments” young adult book series? “Her eyebrows,” Tarsem joked. “I just saw her eyebrows and I said, ‘That’s Snow White.’ ” With the key players in place, the filmmakers are busy building sets and designing costumes. True to Tarsem’s earlier work, like “The Cell” and the forthcoming “Immortals,” the new Snow White film will dress its cast in some eye-popping garb. “Everything’s in snow, but the costumes are very colorful. It’s like no color, then a lot of color,” Tarsem said. “I never know how actors give you all the trust, because the stuff that I make people wear does not look ridiculous — it looks ridiculous. ” Check out everything we’ve got on “Snow White.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .

Hesher has now played Sundance 2010 and SXSW 2011, and it’s still not entirely clear when we’ll get to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt play a pyromaniac nihilist who reunites a family for ourselves. The official site still just says “coming soon,” while Imdb lists the release date as April 2011. That’s pretty much right now, so I guess we’ll see. In meantime though, we’ve got an appropriately ragged and sleazy final poster. It appears that Metallica not only let the film use their music, but also their logo. Throw the devil-sign in the air and click through to check it out.
