‘Super 8’ Super Bowl Clip Presents Even More Mystery

J.J. Abrams/Spielberg collabo teaser depicts train wreck, a Super 8 camera and a foreboding voice-over. By Katie Calautti A scene from “Super 8” Photo: Paramount Super Bowl XLV ushered a double dose of “super” — namely, the premiere of the 30-second trailer for the highly-anticipated J.J. Abrams-directed, Stephen Spielberg-produced vehicle “Super 8.” The creative force behind “Lost,” “Star Trek” and “Cloverfield” has kept his upcoming project ensconced in secrecy, refusing to divulge details about the science-fiction blockbuster — letting slip only that it’ll be set in 1979 as something of a throwback to Spielberg’s most beloved tales. What we had to sate our curiosity until tonight was the film’s release date , cast list and a painfully cryptic teaser screened before “Iron Man 2.” The “Super 8” Super Bowl XLV spot aired toward the last portion of the second quarter, and features a more elaborate view of the teaser’s train wreck, soundtracked to whimsical, John Williams-esque music. The only dialogue comes in the form of a foreboding voice-over: “Do not speak of this. If you do, they will find you.” It opens on a view of what could be any Main Street in small-town America, as our young protagonist rides his bike into what turns out to be an epic train wreck. A quick shot shows him dropping a Super 8 camera. Presumably, he’s captured footage of something that’s meant to be kept under wraps (our money’s on whatever’s attempting to forcibly pound its way out of the train car in the next shot). We’re given quick glimpses of Kyle Chandler (playing, perhaps, a concerned parent?) and Elle Fanning (standing with a group of kids, the Super 8 camera propped between them), masses of people being herded off army trucks and into shelters, perplexed-looking government officials and explosions — all with a somewhat otherworldly bent to it (think: “E.T.” meets “War of the Worlds” meets “The Goonies” meets “Cloverfield”). It appears that the film will largely be seen through the perspective of the young boy, and it certainly looks like an homage to Spielbergian style, with some J.J. Abrams action and mystery thrown in for good measure. Can we perhaps get 30 more seconds, J.J.? What did you think of the “Super 8” trailer? Let us know in the comments! Justin Bieber Thanks ‘Supportive’ Fans At NYC ‘Never Say Never’ Premiere

‘Fans will be really excited to see that I’m just a regular 16-year-old having fun just living my dream,’ he tells MTV News of the 3-D movie. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber at the New York premiere of “Never Say Never” Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage At the star-filled New York screening for Justin Bieber’s long-awaited 3-D flick “Never Say Never,” the star, donning a purple bow tie, looked excited for his fans to finally get a chance to see the film they’ve been hearing all about for the past few months. “I’m feeling good,” he told MTV News on the red carpet, moments before he entered the theater to watch the film alongside his fans. “It’s great to be here. All my fans have been really supportive, so I’m really glad to be playing them my movie.” The film is part concert film, part documentary, complete with interviews from some of the people closest to the teen phenom. It also features cameos from Miley Cyrus, Usher and Ludacris, to name a few, during concert performances (filmed at Madison Square Garden last September) and interviews. So what does Bieber think his fans will love the most? “Fans will be really excited to see that I’m just a regular 16-year-old having fun just living my dream,” he said. “And it’s possible for anyone to live theirs.” And he’s not wrong: There’s plenty of behind-the-scenes gems that fans will go bananas over, including scenes of Bieber hanging with his pals and even footage and photos that fans may not have ever seen before. A testament to his star power, a number of A-listers made an appearance at the screening, including Spike Lee, Diggy Simmons, Jay Sean and the film’s director, Jon Chu. The audience at the screening was scattered with Bieber insiders, including his mom and his manager, Scooter Braun. The film opens February 11. And Now We Finally Know What K-Fraud-y Aubry Did To P*ss Off Halle

We knew something had to have happened to kick Halle into Baby Mama overdrive . And basically, it came down to Fraud-y Aubry forgetting that he doesn’t have a job and refusing to do exactly what Halle wanted. Halle Berry’s latest movie was supposed to be the big-budget romantic comedy New Year’s Eve – but for the actress and her ex, Gabriel Aubry, the feel-good film may have been the final straw in their already-strained custody arrangement over their 2 ½-year-old daughter Nahla. According to a source close to Berry, the actress’s movie contract included compensation for Aubry to accompany her and Nahla to New York City for about two weeks of filming. But when Aubry decided not to go, says the source, Berry was forced to abruptly pull out of the film. She has since been replaced by Katherine Heigl. Berry, 44, who has a nanny, currently shares custody of Nahla with Aubry. She pulled out of the New Line production not because she wouldn’t have childcare help but because she was concerned about leaving Nahla in L.A. while she filmed in N.Y.C., claims the source. “When Gabriel refused to go, that became a factor in her decision to pull out of the film because she didn’t feel right leaving Nahla,” says the source. “No job is that important to Halle. Nahla comes first.” The bitter custody battle is a far cry from the exes’ arrangement of only last summer, when Aubry accompanied Berry and Nahla to South Africa while the Oscar winner filmed her upcoming thriller, Dark Tide. In other words, Garbri-el (pronounced with French accent), don’t all of a sudden act like you have something better to do than go to NYC on someone else’s dime. That’s been your life since 2005. Justin Bieber Premieres "Never Say Never" in NYC

Closing out another night on the red carpet, Justin Bieber was the center of attention at the New York City premiere of “Never Say Never” on Wednesday night (February 2). Held at Regal E-Walk 13, the 16-year-old phenom was decked out in an all-black ensemble with a purple bowtie and matching shades as he greeted fellow attendees including Russell ‘Russy’ Simmons, Daniel ‘Diggy’ Simmons, Lynsey Mickolas, L.A. Reid and director Jon M. Chu. With the film set to hit theaters on February 11th, Mr Chu was recently asked by MTV News if he received any ribbing from his friends when he signed on to spearhead Bieber’s movie project. To this, the “Step Up 3D” director replied, “There’s always people [giving me flak], whether it’s the ‘Step Up’ movies, dance movies or the Justin Bieber movie. People will make fun of you, but now they truly have the fever, for sure. Since [I signed on], he’s won four American Music Awards, including Artist of the Year, he’s nominated for two Grammys he’s on the cover of Vanity Fair, and I think they’ve fallen for him as well.” Describing the picture as inspirational, Chu said, “Especially for this generation of kids, [it’s important to show] that they could make it on their own without a big corporation. I thought it was an exciting way to tell it: through his music.”

I know there has been a lot of set photos and videos coming out of the Spider-Man set, but this is one worth watching. It features Spider-Man swinging through traffic on wires. It’s actually kind of cool to see an actual human being flying through the air, as opposed to a computer generated superhero. Can’t wait to see what this looks like in the film.
