‘The Hills’ Stars Kristin Cavallari, Audrina Patridge Share Big Post-Show Plans

Lo Bosworth wants a talk show, while Stephanie Pratt will continue in fashion. By Jocelyn Vena Kristin Cavallari Photo: Christina Garibaldi/ MTV News The long-awaited final season of “The Hills” premiered at last on Tuesday night. Now, with only 11 episodes to go, many fans have been wondering what’s up next for the “Hills” cast. MTV News caught up with some of the stars, who said they won’t be stepping out of the spotlight anytime soon. “I’m transitioning to hosting, so I would love to host a style show, a travel show, a cooking show,” Lo Bosworth told MTV News . “Something like that next. … I think a long-term goal for me is to be on a talk show. I would love, love, love to do that. I have some off-camera projects that are going, but I can’t reveal them yet — but very soon. I am really excited for the next step.” Like Bosworth, co-star Kristin Cavallari is also looking to continue her career in television — but behind the lens. “Going back to ‘The Hills,’ I’ve enjoyed seeing the behind the scenes and how everything gets put together, the TV magic,” she said. “So I want to start producing. I’ve been pitching some shows and talking to some people about that. So, hopefully, right away I can get one of those running, and then I want to keep acting. I would like that. I like being in charge and calling the shots.” Although there’s been talk that Audrina Patridge may land her own reality show, she said that a break was foremost on her mind. “I plan on taking a vacation,” she said. “I really want to go to Europe and just travel and hang out with my friends and family down in Orange County. But other than that, I’m still going to castings and still going to auditions for acting, definitely going to continue pushing for that. I would love to do a time piece, like, medieval. I love ‘The Tudors’ and I love ‘Troy’ and those types of movies. So, that’s my dream.” With her castmates eyeing the film and television worlds, Stephanie Pratt said she’ll focus on fashion . While on the show, Pratt enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. “My original goal before ‘The Hills’ was a career in fashion,” she said. “I’m designing handbags right now with a partner, and other leather accessories.” What would you like to see “The Hills” stars do next? REVIEW: The Good Heart Could Use Some Fresh Blood

A grimly modern fable with a giveaway title, The Good Heart wears it modest narrative intentions — along with just about everything else — on its sleeve. A regulation tale of bittersweet uplift involving a saintly young homeless man and a villainous codger with no apparent heirs and a nasty heart attack habit, the film aims not to surprise but to soothe you with the pleasure of its company, its variations on a familiar theme. Despite its capable leads and sturdy framework, in his American debut Icelandic writer and director Dagur Kári relies too heavily on the fleeting rewards of situation for the film to come together as an involving story.

Peter Jackson Appointed As Knight In New Zealand

Director Peter Jackson knelt on Wednesday to be tapped on the shoulder with a sword; this is a ceremony to confirm his appointment as a knight. Jackson’s enthronization ceremony in Wellington, New Zealand put him as a Knight Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit. His home town is in New Zealand capital Wellington. He also based most of his businesses here. Jackson told the reporters that he feels incredibly humbled. The ceremony seen in the movies when appointing a knight was not just a solo effort. It involves hundreds of people. This has made him feel that he’s accepting it on behalf of a huge industry. The honor he felt is way too different as compared to winning the Oscars. It has a distinctive meaning and significance because in some ways it involves traditions and history. Jackson has won the best director award for his film “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, which won a total of 17 Oscars, including the best picture for the final installment “The Return of the King”. The director was appointed a knight in a ceremony conducted by Governor-General Anand Satyanand, who is Queen Elizabeth II’s representative. Jackson’s knighthood was announced at the end of last year as part of New Zealand’s annual New Year honors. “Google Me” Docu-Film Got Favorable Results

tinypic “Google Me” is a movie about a man who wanted to meet all of the people on Google who shared his name. “Google Me” is a documentary about one man named Jim Killeen’s quest to interview people around the world that share his name. “It all started when I Googled my name,” says Killeen in the movie’s trailer. “My goal in making this movie is to connect with other people. I think there is something in the human condition that unites all of us.” Killeen starred and directed this documentary film. The docu-film gained favorable results from those willing to participate. However, not all of the Jim Killeens in the world were as friendly as the star of the movie. It seems there was a large portion of Jim Killeens who were not willing to be a part of the film for various reasons. Killeen, along with five other men with the same name, recently made an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show. The five Jims got together for a photo shoot and shared life experiences in what was reported to be a pleasant experience for all. “Google Me” is currently available through Netflix and the official “Google Me” T-shirt has been released and can be purchased online. “Google Me” Docu-Film Got Favorable Results is a post from: Daily World Buzz Continue reading →

Gorillaz To Tour U.S. This Year, Without The Holograms

‘You can’t, at this point, do holograms,’ lead singer Damon Albarn explained. By James Montgomery Photo: MTV News For just about as long as they’ve been a (not real) band, Gorillaz have toyed with the idea of launching a full-blown, hologram-enhanced tour . After all, it seemed like the most logical way of bringing the group to life. The only problem? Well, as you can imagine, lugging all that 3-D equipment around gets to be a tad bit expensive. Oh, and then there’s the fact that, no matter how hard they try, Gorillaz masterminds Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett just can’t seem to get the hologram thing to work the way they want it to. So, while, yes, Gorillaz will be touring the U.S. later this year, if we’ll have them (“We’re coming back, going to play all around America, if they want us, of course,” Albarn smiled), they won’t be bringing the holograms with them. It seems they’ve officially closed that chapter of the band’s history … and they’ve got Madonna, with whom they “performed” at the 48th annual Grammy Awards in 2006 , to thank for that. “You can’t, at this point, do holograms. … This is what happened at the Grammys. We opened the Grammys — on television it looked great — but we had an invisible film pulled across our stage, and you project onto that, and put smoke behind it — it’s a Victorian technology, actually,” Albarn told MTV News. “So Madonna manages to come and sort of gate-crash our idea, as people like Madonna do, because that’s why they’re so deep. … She gate-crashed our idea, so we couldn’t play with any bass or any sound, because it would vibrate [the film] so it was really quiet. “So we open the Grammys, but no one could hear us, in this huge, great arena, and we were crestfallen at that moment. And I’m trying to get Bono to move, because his huge, great Stetson is obscuring my view,” he continued. “And then, our song stops, and she appears on the other side of the stage, with her inflated-ABBA riff, at full volume, and the place goes insane. And at [that] point, I just thought, ‘You know what? Sometimes, just keep it simple.’ ” Which means that fans can expect more performances like their guest-heavy Sunday night set at Coachella , with appearances by the likes of Brit rappers Kano and Bashy, De La Soul and the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble. There’s no word on just when their U.S. tour will kick off. E-mails to the band’s label, Capitol, were not returned by press time, but with all that hologram business now behind them, Gorillaz can focus on putting on a booming, in-your-face set. Which is all fans really want, anyway. “We want it to be powerful, and for people to feel good about it,” Albarn said. “No pun intended.” Will you check out Gorillaz in concert? Buried Poster: Ryan Reynolds May Appear Smaller than Actual Size

Let’s go back about three months to the snowy, chilly climes of Park City, Utah, where holy crap the Ryan Reynolds thriller Buried had Sundance audiences squirming with its concept (not to mention its execution) of an abducted American contractor in a box somewhere beneath the Iraq desert and held for ransom of $1 million. And now it’s got a nifty poster to freak out a general audience. Click through for a bigger version almost as surprising as the film’s ending. (Don’t worry — no spoilers.)

Californication Welcomes Rob Lowe

According to a Showtime press release dropped in Movieline’s inbox just moments ago, Rob Lowe will visit Californication next season for at least one episode. The square-jawed star, whom NBC is hoping will increase Parks & Recreation ‘s female viewership, will play “self-possessed, award-winning movie star ‘Eddie Nero,’ a possible contender to play Hank in the film version of his hit novel.” Apparently, David Duchovny’s hormone-addled cable series is the place where middle-aged actors go to raise uneasy parallels to their own sex scandals.

The Verge: Ezra Miller

Maybe it’s coincidence that Ezra Miller had two films premiere over the weekend at the Tribeca Film Festival, where City Island — his film currently playing in theaters — won the audience award in 2009. But it’s no accident, either. Since his 2008 screen debut in the harrowing prep-school drama Afterschool , the 17-year-old actor has built a reputation behind the scenes for fearlessness, intensity, comic chops, and holding his own against alpha-castmates like Andy Garcia, Liev Schreiber and Helen Hunt. And coming soon: Tilda Swinton.

Gabourey Sidibe Proves She’s Not Precious, MGMT Rock Out On ‘SNL’

‘Movies are not real life,’ actress sang in monologue, spoofing confusion between her and ‘Precious’ character. By Amy Wilkinson MGMT’s Andrew VanWyngarden performs on “Saturday Night Live” Photo: NBC “I love being happy. I’m not Precious,” actress Gabourey Sidibe crooned cheekily during her monologue as host of this week’s “Saturday Night Live,” featuring musical guest MGMT . The Academy Award-nominated star of “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire” took to the Studio 8H stage to perform a doo-wop-style opening number, making light of the confusion between her and the downtrodden character she portrays in the film. “Movies are not real life. That’s something you should know,” she sang, adding, “Mariah Carey doesn’t have a mustache.” The 26-year-old then sped through a hodgepodge of largely loud-mouthed and irritated characters. She donned dreadlocks to play a Jamaican nurse hawking a heal-thyself manual opposite Kristen Wiig’s Suze Orman. She yelled at kids on her front stoop as an elderly, know-it-all neighbor whose daddy used to sell “Wikipedias.” And she competed at the “2010 Public Employee of the Year Awards” as a surly St. Louis DMV worker. Sidibe also teamed up with Andy Samberg, with whom she appeared in promos earlier in the week, for the Digital Short “Cherry Battle.” The pair, clad in Obi-Wan Kenobi-style getups, spit cherries at each other in slow motion. Brooklyn-based MGMT performed two songs off their recently released sophomore album, Congratulations. First up was “Flash Delirium,” a tune the band released digitally March 9 to tease the new album. They followed that up with “Brian Eno,” an ode to the British musician and producer. “It’s kind of a vampire-punk-rock song about finding Brian Eno in like a cathedral in Transylvania,” singer Andrew VanWyngarden told New York magazine last year. “He’s like a dark wizard. We originally asked him to produce the track, but he hadn’t heard of us.” The band is currently on tour and will play at May’s Sasquatch festival and August’s Lollapalooza. The next new episode of “SNL” airs May 8 with host Betty White and musical guest Jay-Z . The “Golden Girls” star landed her hosting gig thanks to a fervent Facebook campaign launched earlier this year encouraging producer Lorne Michaels to have White on the show. Related Artists MGMT
