‘Iron Man 2’ Star Scarlett Johansson Talks Deleted ‘Repulsor’ Scene

‘There was a moment where there was a little bit of repulsion, a jolt of some kind,’ she tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Scarlett Johanssen Photo: MTV News If “Iron Man 2” fans heading to the theater are hoping to see what MTV News has dubbed “the repulsor moment” in the flick, they may be disappointed to find that the scene didn’t make the final cut. Those in need of a refresher can watch what we alluded to, at the 2:13 mark, in the trailer that premiered in March. But moviegoers aren’t the only ones in the dark about the moment in question. “A repulsor? Oh, yeah. … It’s not in the film?” Scarlett Johansson said when MTV News asked her about the now-deleted scene. “Am I with Robert [Downey Jr.]? I don’t know. I have not yet seen the film, so I’ll be looking out for that. “But there is a scene where Natalie is sort of cozying up to Tony, and I do have that repulsor, as you call it,” she said of her character, Natalie Romanoff, a.k.a. the Black Widow. “There was a moment where there was a little bit of repulsion, a jolt of some kind. Maybe it didn’t make it into the movie, I don’t know.” Although that particularly explosive scene didn’t make the film, Johansson relished in the action scenes that did. “It was a bit daunting at first, especially when I was watching whatever Tom Harper, our stunt coordinator, had cut together, these sequences that he was planning and choreographing,” Johansson recalled. “It was like, ‘I’m going to be doing that in how many months?’ It just seemed like it’d be really painful. And it was. It all paid off in the end.” Did you see “Iron Man 2” over the weekend? Tell us in the comments! Crystal Bowersox And Lee Dewyze Earn High Praise From ‘American Idol’ Judges With ‘Falling Slowly’

The pair’s duet on song from ‘Once’ has judges raving on movie night. By Kara Warner Crystal Bowersox and Lee Dewyze Photo: FOX Tuesday”s “American Idol”” was to be, in the words of Ryan Seacrest, “a theme fit for a star,” and all about paying tribute to the movies . And with cool-as-a-cucumber mentor Jamie Foxx and several interesting song selections in tow, the Top 4 gave it their all. Sort of. The judges agreed that the evening’s two duets, “Falling Slowly” by Crystal Bowersox and Lee Dewyze; and “Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman” by Michael Lynche and Casey James, were better than the contestants’ solo performances. And there’s not much question that Crystal and Lee’s dueling-guitar version of the Oscar-winning “Once” tune sung by Glen Hansard and Mark

Axe Brick Tamland, and 9 Other Ways to Close the $30 Million Budget Gap on Anchorman 2

I’ve never been much of a believer that Anchorman 2 would happen. It had its window around 2006 or so; now the economics don’t work and the global box office prospects are underwhelming. Nevertheless, where there’s a will, there’s a way to overcome a reported $30 million budget gap between Paramount and the film’s high-wattage producers and stars. Some tough, serious cuts and considerations will be required, though. Read on for a a few recommendations that spring immediately to mind; as always, your own are welcome in the comments.

James Franco’s Insider-y SNL Doc Saturday Night Bows at Tribeca

The sold-out Tribeca Film Festival premiere of James Franco’s documentary Saturday Night boasted at least two inconsistencies — it screened on a Sunday afternoon in midtown Manhattan, some 70 blocks north of the fest’s namesake neighborhood. But at least the film itself was unambiguous and even-handed. Mostly.

Toy Story 3 Cliffhanger Screenings Meet Resistance on Twitter

The reports of Disney screening the first 65 minutes of Toy Story 3 at college campuses around the country has been circulating since March , so what better time than now for the New York Times to realize they exist. In an article yesterday, the Paper of Record reports on the screenings from the front line — ie; college campuses where students are screaming “No!” when the projector cuts out right before the film’s climax.

Michael Caine on Harry Brown, Paycheck Roles and Why the British Do Dystopia Best

The grim, almost impossibly violent Harry Brown will no doubt draw endless comparisons to Dirty Harry and other risible exemplars of do-it-yourself crimefighting. But beyond the grit of the British projects where lawless hell descends, the film truly thrives in the quiet dignity afforded by leading man Michael Caine. Even as his ex-Marine title character goes to war against the subculture of hoodlums, addicts, dealers and thieves, the 77-year-old acting legend reinforces the bloodshed with purpose and gravitas. Clearly there’s a little something more going on here than just target practice; Brown’s mission to restore order is perhaps secondary only to Caine’s own to effect change.
