Kellan Lutz is a Greek God

This won’t come as any surprise to someone that has seen Kellan Lutz with his shirt off , but the actor is a Greek god. The 25-year-old Twilight Saga star has nabbed a role in War of the Gods. In the film, he’ll appear opposite Henry Cavill, Mickey Rourke and Freida Pinto. Lutz will portray Poseidon, lord of the sea, as the movie tells the story of a young warrior who leads his men into battle with Greek gods as they go up against the Titans. What’s at stake? Only all of mankind. Filming gets underway in April. And fear not: it won’t interfere with Kellan’s commitments to return for Breaking Dawn .

‘The Avengers’ Is ‘All About The Cast, Louis Leterrier Says

‘Clash of the Titans’ director describes his hypothetical approach if hired to helm the superhero movie. By Josh Wigler Louis Leterrier Photo: MTV News Marvel Studios has recruited an impressive assortment of filmmakers such as Jon Favreau, Kenneth Branagh and Joe Johnston, but the studio has yet to announce a director for “The Avengers,” the big-budget superhero movie set to debut in the summer of 2012. On Monday (March 22), “Clash of the Titans” director Louis Leterrier told MTV News he is on Marvel’s short list of potential directors for the film , thanks in no small part to his previous work on “The Incredible Hulk.” While his attachment is far from official, Leterrier already has several ideas about how he would tackle “The Avengers” if hired. “It all starts with the ensemble, the cast,” the director told MTV News of his hypothetical approach. “It’s all about the cast. It’s all about the characters. You have to find the way to enter the movie through the cast.” If it’s all about the cast, then Leterrier is in luck. In addition to working with big-name directors, Marvel boasts a notable group of actors, including Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Edward Norton as Hulk and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. Chris Evans is the reported front-runner for the role of Captain America. “With ‘Avengers,’ it would be a little different, because a lot of the cast would have been cast by different directors from other movies,” Leterrier acknowledged, “but you can still bring everybody together. That’s what we did that was great on ‘Clash of the Titans.’ For the first three weeks, we brought everybody into a room and we workshopped the movie.” While Leterrier isn’t a lock for the “Avengers” job, he has at least one Hollywood insider in his corner: Sam Worthington, the leading man in Leterrier’s “Titans.” Worthington, no stranger to comic book fare having once been connected to “The First Avenger: Captain America,” told MTV that Leterrier would bring several worthy qualities to “The Avengers.” “There’s action. He throws a camera around like no one,” said Worthington, a self-described fanboy. “He does bring people together. He’s worked with Morgan Freeman, Bob Hoskins, William Hurt, Edward Norton — he’s worked with some big boys. Plus, he’s a fan. He’s like me! We watched some trailers the other day at ShoWest, and me and him were nudging each other because we’re fans. We make movies that we would want to go and see.” For breaking comic book movie news, columns and more — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com .

Dakota Fanning, Alicia Keys Remember Fanning’s First-Ever Concert

The two met when they starred in ‘The Secret Life of Bees’ together. By Jocelyn Vena Alicia Keys and Dakota Fanning at “The Secret Life Of Bees” premiere on September 5, 2008 Photo: Alexandra Wyman/ WireImage In 2008, Dakota Fanning and Alicia Keys starred in the movie “The Secret Life of Bees” together. And meeting Keys gave Fanning an opportunity to do something she had never done before: go to a concert. “I never went to concerts until very recently, and I was doing a movie with Alicia Keys so I went to her concert,” Fanning, who hits the big screen this week playing rocker Cherie Currie in “The Runaways,” told MTV News about her first concertgoing experience. And Keys was happy to oblige. “Yes, that’s true. She came to my L.A. show for my last tour and it was her first concert,” she recalled on Wednesday night in New York City, where she was playing a show at Madison Square Garden . “We had just finished a movie, ‘Secret Life of Bees,’ together … and I was so happy to be her first concert.” Keys added that the actress, now 16, certainly has the chops to be working in Hollywood for many years to come. “She’s an amazing person, an incredibly talented lady. She’s gonna be someone we watch flourish for many years. And I’m glad she will always say her first concert was me.” Also on Wednesday night, Fanning spoke about how very obedient to the rules she still is in her own life, even though she plays a wild child in her new movie. “Cherie kind of grew up with no restrictions or rules, kind of figuring it out for herself. It’s kind of different for me,” she shared. “I will never get to have that experience, so I kind of got to have it through the film.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Runaways.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Michael Jackson Biographer Releasing Movie About Pop Star’s Final Days

‘Gone Too Soon’ will include video and audio recordings of the King of Pop, as well as interviews with his manager and others. By Gil Kaufman Michael Jackson Photo: Dave Benett/ Getty Images Michael Jackson biographer Ian Halperin, who last year released a chronicle of the King of Pop’s gradual late-period decline entitled, “Unmasked: The Final Years of Michael Jackson,” is prepping an accompanying documentary, due out this summer. According to Variety , Halperin is finishing work on an 88-minute documentary entitled “Gone Too Soon” that makes use of the more than 300 hours of footage he shot inside the pop icon’s camp. The film is slated to be unveiled at next month’s MIPTV conference in Cannes, France, and is set for a theater run in Canada and France on June 25, the one-year anniversary of Jackson’s death. There is no word yet on a U.S. release. “Unmasked” is based on five years of investigative reporting by Halperin, who told MTV News last year that he started out with the intention of finding proof that the repeated allegations of child molestation lodged against the eccentric pop singer were true, but ended up believing that Jackson was a victim of his own success and predatory opportunists. Jackson was acquitted of child molestation and other charges in 2005 and settled with an alleged victim in 1993. Film footage reportedly includes video and audio recordings of the reclusive Jackson, as well as interviews with the singer’s manager, chef, spiritual adviser, hairstylist, trainer, protective agent and attorney. None of the other members of Jackson’s family are involved in the movie, though Halperin said they are aware of it. Though it depicts some of the more controversial chapters in Jackson’s life, Halperin described it as “a balanced tribute to the King of Pop … This is the film Michael and his fans deserve.” Halperin is credited with breaking the news in December 2008 that Jackson was in ill health and predicting that the singer would be dead within six months. The performance documentary “Michael Jackson’s This Is It,” which featured footage of Jackson’s final rehearsals for a planned comeback series of concerts in London, was released last fall and shattered box-office records for a music film. Matt Damon Says ‘No’ To ‘Bourne’

Green Zone star Matt Damon has ruled out appearing in a fourth Bourne flick and said he’s “just saying no.” The 39-year-old actor took on the role of agent Jason Bourne in the first three movies but said he isn’t interested in coming back for a fourth and believes the film needs to take a different direction according to an interview with Parade.com. “I think there’s a good way to do a prequel with someone else, but not me. What any studio is interested in is making a franchise like Bourne an evergreen that can just go on and on. With me playing him, Bourne got his memory back three times. So I don’t think anybody wants to see me say ‘I don’t remember’ again.’ But you could do a prequel with another actor being the first Bourne before his identity gets passed on to me. In fact, why not two or three? As for me coming back to do him again, I’m just saying no.” Sounds like Damon wants to turn the Bourne Franchise in to James Bond .

By Gil Kaufman Ludacris Photo: Getty Images Ludacris ‘ Battle of the Sexes will lead a parade of new faces in the Billboard 200 top 10 next week, easily leading the chart thanks to sales of 137,000. This is Cris’ third album to debut at #1. The concept disc about gender squabbles easily bested the latest from English cartoon band the Gorillaz, Plastic Beach , which will land at #2 (112,000) according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. Coming in at #4 in its first week is the latest repackaging of archival material from late guitar god Jimi Hendrix, Valleys of Neptune (95,000), followed by the #5 debut for country singer Gary Allan, Get Off on the Pain (65,000) and the self-titled bow from Broken Bells (#7, 49,000), the collaboration between producer Danger Mouse and the Shins’ James Mercer . Those new players shuffle the deck at the top, with last week’s #1, Lady Antebellum ‘s Need You Now, slipping down to #3 (105,000), another former #1, Sade ‘s Soldier of Love, skidding four spots to #6 (52,000), Lady Gaga ‘s Fame down one to #8 (47,000) as it crossed the 3 million mark, and the top 10 rounded out by the Black Eyed Peas ‘ The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) (43,000) and Blake Shelton ‘s Hillbilly Bone (#10, 28,000). Though the film is smashing records, the soundtrack to Tim Burton’s re-imagining of “Alice in Wonderland,” Almost Alice, lost more than 50 percent of its business in week two, tumbling eight slots to #13 (27,000), while last year’s number four “American Idol” finisher Danny Gokey ‘s debut, My Best Days, drops 63 percent, falling 12 spots to #16 in week two on sales of 24,000. A couple of R&B singers are having rough second weeks as well, with Raheem DeVaughn ‘s Love & War MasterPeace plunging 15 spots to #24 (19,000, down 57 percent) and Jason Derulo ‘s self-titled debut dropping 18 to #29 (17,000, down 60 percent). The week’s steepest plunge, though, belongs to rockers Lifehouse, who go from a #6 debut down to #34 with Smoke & Mirrors (15,000, down 72 percent). Indie psychedelic rockers Black Rebel Motorcycle Club come in at #56 with Beat the Devil’s Tattoo (10,000), while Ted Leo and the Pharmacists come in at #107 with their latest broadside to polite society, The Brutalist Bricks (5,000). Things should be pretty static next week, with no major releases. Related Artists Ludacris Gorillaz Jimi Hendrix

Miley Cyrus Dishes On ‘Really Fun’ ‘Sex And The City’ Cameo

‘I was a big moment for me,’ she says of appearing in the sequel to the hit film. By Larry Carroll, with reporting by Sal Morgan Miley Cyrus Photo: MTV News Die-hard Miley Cyrus fans know that when it came time to shoot “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” she eagerly stuffed the feature film with cameos by the likes of Tyra Banks, Taylor Swift and Rascall Flatts. Recently, the tables were turned on the superstar singer/actor, and when we caught up with her we had to ask about her scene in the upcoming “Sex and the City” sequel. “I’ve always been a huge fan of the show, I think they are so amazing,” Miley said of the “Sex and the City” actresses, who stunned Hollywood in 2008 by making the difficult transfer from small screen to big while taking in nearly $60 million on its opening weekend. “It has such a great cast, and you can see the chemistry with all the girls.” Although Miley had to be a bit tight-lipped about the details of her cameo, on-set photos seem to reveal that she and outspoken sexpot Samantha Jones (played by Kim Cattrall) show up at the red-carpet premiere of a movie wearing the same dress. “I was surprised [that they asked me],” Cyrus said of the scene. “It was a very glamorous day for me, to be on the carpet with the girls and share a really cool scene with Kim Cattrall — who I love. I think she’s so great.” “It was really, really fun and it was a big moment for me,” Miley said of reaching that level of fame where people start asking you to make high-profile appearances as yourself. “It’s one of those perks. You do so many things that aren’t as much fun and are really the hard parts — but that was just one of those things where it was the day you got to play.” Speaking of hard parts, Miley takes on what might be the toughest of her career with “The Last Song,” her first non-“Hannah” starring role on the big screen, and an emotional drama to boot. The film is due in theaters March 31, roughly two months before Carrie Bradshaw and the “SATC” gang return to theaters. “I’ve always really been into the show, and they added a couple different cameos with all different types of people,” Miley said of a cast of cameos that reportedly also includes Penelope Cruz, Liza Minnelli and Tim Gunn. “And they asked me to do one, which was a super big honor. “It was really easy and really fun,” the 17-year-old star said of the cameo — but unfortunately, all she knows about the film is limited to her own scene. “I haven’t seen any of it. All I did was my one tiny little part, where I just have to stand there. So I don’t know [what the plot is]. “I’m excited, trust me,” insisted the longtime “SATC” fan, saying that she’s already making plans for a May 27 girl’s night out with her friends. “I’ll be waiting in front of the theater to go see it.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Sex and the City 2.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Lauren Conrad Designs Clothes, Writes Books, ‘Doesn’t Sleep Much’

‘It’s all about fitting it into your schedule,’ she says of juggling her many tasks. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Larry Carroll Lauren Conrad Photo: MTV News Lauren Conrad is a very busy lady. With a fashion brand and best-selling novels with a movie adaptation in the works , what’s the key to LC’s success? Time management. “Well, I meet up with the team several times a month and we have lots of conference calls,” she said about how she manages to design her line while writing her “L.A. Candy” books as well as producing the film version. “It’s just something I’m doing throughout the day. It’s all about fitting it into your schedule. I don’t sleep much.” She also juggles her duties, writing some days and designing clothes during others. “Well, they’re all different. There are days when I spend my entire day writing. There’s days like today where I’m dealing with the [fashion] line all day,” she explained. “I’ve always loved fashion. It’s always been my number one, but I’m really enjoying all the different things I’m getting to do right now.” So is LC going to add any new projects to her already busy schedule? The answer, for now, is no. “I like where I’m at right now,” she said. “I think I’m at a good place where I’ll see all those [projects] through.” For now, Conrad has hooked up with department store Kohl’s for her LC by Lauren Conrad clothing brand — if fans have always admired the former “Hills” star’s laid-back, girly sense of style, now they can achieve the look. “It’s very much a California brand. It’s all about incorporating new trends and putting our own twist on it — relaxed cool without trying too hard,” she told MTV News at a press event for the line, adding that there’s a piece in her collection for every occasion.
