Black Excellence: Nate Parker’s Nat Turner Biopic Sells For A Historic $17.5 Million At Sundance

Black excellence , opulence, decadence… Fox Searchlight Buys “The Birth Of A Nation” For $17.5 Million Actor Nate Parker is making history with his forthcoming Nat Turner biopic. Parker’s directorial debut “The Birth Of A Nation” not only received a standing ovation from an awe struck audience, bit $17.5 million from Fox Searchlight (the biggest deal in Sundance history) to bring it to theaters. The Wall Street Journal reports: Less than 24 hours after its roaring arrival at the Sundance Film Festival, “The Birth of a Nation” has made history with the biggest deal in the festival’s history. Fox Searchlight has acquired world-wide rights to the Nat Turner biopic for $17.5 million — a whopping amount that reflects the movie’s critical and commercial prospects and the crowded field of bidders hitting festivals now. It was clear from the movie’s premiere that it would go for big money. The audience gave the movie an extended standing ovation through the closing credits, and Nate Parker, who directed, produced, wrote and stars in the film, left the auditorium as Sundance’s favorite son. Fox Searchlight’s winning bid signals a definite interest in Oscars for the film. The specialty division of Twentieth Century Fox purchased “Brooklyn” at Sundance last year, and the immigrant drama was the only Sundance movie to land a best picture nomination for this year’s awards. Fox Searchlight also released the last major slavery drama, “12 Years a Slave,” which won best picture in 2014. (Fox’s parent company, 21st Century Fox Inc., was until mid-2013 part of the same company as The Wall Street Journal.) Nate’s since ben lauded for making history by greats like Ava Duvernay… “The deal is the richest in Sundance history.” *mic drop* *tosses confetti* *praise clap* *misty copeland twirl* https://t.co/OQnPMKShcR — Ava DuVernay (@AVAETC) January 26, 2016 and he’s thanking Sundance for the opportunity. This is a victory for independent film and independent filmmakers. Thank you @sundancefest for all you do for us. pic.twitter.com/ue2qOd07bt — Nate Parker (@NateParker) January 27, 2016 There’s chatter that Parker actually received a $20 million offer from Netflix but turned it down because he wanted moviegoers to pack out theaters. What do YOU think about Nate Parker’s historic deal for Birth Of A Nation???

Slow Your Roll: Beyonce Is NOT Making A Movie About The Life Of Saartjie Baartman

Beyonce Is Not Making A Saartjie Baartman Movie Beyonce’s rumored plan to bring the story of Saartjie Baartman “The Hottentot Venus” to the big screen has already faced vicious criticism. Twitter blasted the diva’s ambition to write, produce, and star in a film about the life of the woman kidnapped from South Africa put on display in Europe because of her large hips and behind. Well, it appears that everyone got their panties in a bunch over nothing. While multitudes of South Africans and historical purists were angrily @-ing her about the decision… Beyonce and her camp apparently had no idea what they were even talking about. Via Jezebel : The Sun initially reported via “a Hollywood source” that Beyoncé would be writing and starring in the film. The proper response to that news is “Uh…” That Beyoncé would write a screenplay should’ve tipped people off that this was false. It also seems unlikely that she’d be involved in such a potentially controversial project, but the assumption was that Bey was looking for a challenge and an Oscar. Beyoncé’s rep released a statement to Billboard denying the story: “Beyoncé is in no way tied to this project. This is an important story that should be told, however.” So is there even a movie in the works at all?? SMH.

Kelly Brook’s 2016 Calendar Because She’s Old of the Day

Kelly Brook is not quite amazing…she’s old, just look at her hands…and fat, just look at her tits, but like most fat girls with fat tits, you can see past the fat, especially since her 40 year old ass tries to thin down the month before a shoot, before going back to eating, as these fat girls do. There’s a study that says you lose the weight where you last gained it first, and this Kelly Brook character who hasn’t quite made it in Hollywood as she wanted, but who was become a millionaire through titty modeling the last 2 decades, always retains her tits, meaning at 18 she was probably something special. But according to pro Irish Rugby players I met who used to pass her around, she’s always been a porker… This is her calendar shoot, I guess people in the UK are still old school chimney sweeper types who haven’t quite adopted the internet or technology and still operate like the middle ages…all dying of the plague and shit…Or maybe the British in their cold, conservative ways, are just bad a gifting so they give you some jellies or a Calendar….because these UK girls love producing Calendars…but no American I know has had a Calendar since smart phones….
