Take A First Look At Cameron Diaz & Colin Firth In Gambit

Could the upcoming Gambit be the most talent-stuffed movie since Inception ? Written by the Coen Brothers, starring Cameron Diaz, Alan Rickman and Colin Firth and co-starring Stanley Tucci and Cloris Leachman, it’s like the Expendables for the NPR set. Firth stars as an art curator who plans to con England’s wealthiest man (Rickman) into buying a fake Monet with the help of Diaz as a Texas rodeo queen. Sounds awesome, so it’s a pity the first picture looks like Diaz and Firth are posing for their Senior Superlatives yearbook photo (Most Uncomfortable, perhaps?) Take a look!

Waiting for Terrence: Everyone Wants to Know — Is Malick Here?

Despite what you may be thinking, the most elusive and sought-after figure on the Croisette hasn’t been Johnny Depp . Here at Cannes, where film-geekery runs high, everyone is wondering: Will the notoriously reclusive Terrence Malick emerge from the shadows for a personal appearance? He’s become the “Where’s Waldo?” of the festival.

Sigourney Weaver in The Alien Quadrilogy: Mr. Skin’s Guide

The four fright films that make up the Alien Quadrilogy – Alien , Aliens , Alien 3 , and Alien: Resurrection – make their Blu-Ray debut today as skindividual titles (they’ve been available as a complete- and expensive- boxed set since last fall). Splitting up the films is good news for randy fans of tough-as-nails heroine Ripley , played by sinewy, sexy Sigourney Weaver , since when it comes to nudity, not all Alien (s) are created equal. Rub down the options for an out-of-this-world peter pulling session after the jump!

Universal Puts Brakes on Ron Howard’s Dark Tower Adaptation

Perhaps the ambitious three-film-two-television-series plan that Ron Howard and Universal had to adapt Stephen King’s sprawling novel series The Dark Tower was a bit too ambitious. Deadline reports that the studio has put the pre-production Dark Tower team on hiatus, four months before shooting was set to begin.

Laura Linney Cast Opposite Bill Murray in Hyde Park on the Hudson

Deadline reports that Laura Linney will play Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s mistress (and cousin) Daisy in Hyde Park On The Hudson , the story of George VI’ s 1939 visit to the Roosevelts in their upstate New York home. Bill Murray is slated to play FDR, and I’m slated to cast Eleanor right now — Kathy Bates, anyone? Not that she wants another mid-century period piece after the creative nadir of Revolutionary Road , of course, but she has command that defies Harry’s Law ! [ Deadline ]

Matt Damon Considers Making Father Daughter Time His Directorial Debut

Ben Affleck may have transitioned his Oscar win into a successful directing career but his Good Will Hunting star and co-writer has been content with leading big-budget pictures and producing the odd project. Until now that is. According to Deadline , Damon is seriously considering directing and starring in Father Daughter Time: A Tale of Armed Robbery and Eskimo Kisses — provided he can get his hands on it.

Today In Sketchy Dark Knight Rises Rumors: Is This The First Look At The Lazarus Pits?

I honestly have trouble remembering what we wrote about before comic book movie rumors took over our lives–was it Proust? Maybe a thoughtful analysis of the Free Soil Party in the mid-nineteenth century? At any rate, I’ve got your latest piping hot rumor, this time for the just-started-filming Dark Knight Rises. Is this a Lazarus Pit I see before me?
