That’s What I Am Trailer: How Many Coming-of-Age Tropes Can You Spot?

Poor Ed Harris. Poor Amy Madigan. Poor WWE Superstar Randy Orton. They’re all pawns in the surf-music-laden nostalgia of the ’60s in the new trailer for That’s What I Am . The coming-of-age movie concerns an eighth-grade boy’s formative experiences with change, a wonderful teacher, and an outcast named Stanley whose sad soundbites — for some reason — are making me cry with laughter. Let’s count up the cliches!

Taylor Lautner Feels a Little Bourne-y in First Trailer for Abduction

Who can blame Taylor Lautner for capitalizing on his hard-earned Twilight fandom (those abs don’t crunch themselves) by launching a teen-friendly action hero career? Marvel as the erstwhile Jacob Black enters Bourne territory, complete with romance, parkour, and existential identity confusion, in the first trailer for Lionsgate’s teen action pic Abduction , directed by John Singleton.

Is Bradley Cooper Seriously About to Become The Crow?

The hits keep coming on Remake/Adaptation Tuesday, with a report that your new Crow has been found in the perennially sun-tanned, jovial, frat boy-friendly Bradley Cooper, which makes perfect sense… right ? I mean, who can’t picture the star of such nightmarish genre visions as Valentine’s Day and All About Steve as Eric Draven, the iconic rock star at the center of The Crow who rises from the ashes to avenge his lady’s murder in the role previously portrayed by the late Brandon Lee?

Nerd Alert! Anne McCaffrey’s Dragonriders of Pern Movie Is Actually Happening

In news that might have caused my fifth grade self to break out in an awkward dance of joy, there is actual movement on a long-attempted adaptation of Anne McCaffrey’s The Dragonriders of Pern series. X-Men writer David Hayter will reportedly adapt Dragonflight , the first novel in McCaffrey’s celebrated book series set on the planet of Pern, where generations of humans form telepathic links with fire-breathing dragons to defend themselves from a deadly enemy known as Thread.

TRAILER: Could Passion Play Be the Megan Fox/Mickey Rourke Trainwreck You’ve Been Waiting for?

After a troubled, 20-year road from script-development to screen, Passion Play is coming to select theaters. Then, just in case you blink, it will hit DVD three weeks later . Word of mouth out of Toronto was that the film was a disaster, and the theater-to-DVD release window pretty much backs that up. But after watching the trailer, I can’t help but wonder: Can a film with Mickey Rourke falling in love with an angel played by Megan Fox while trying not to get killed by Bill Murray be totally worthless?

The Curse of Mel Gibson: Liam Neeson Cut From The Hangover 2

Man, all that time in Thailand for nothing. Director Todd Phillips has revealed that Liam Neeson’s tattoo artist cameo in The Hangover 2 has been cut from the film. No, Zack Galifianakis didn’t organize another protest ; this time the culprit was Clash of the Titans 2 . Neeson was too busy reprising his role as Zeus to join reshoots of his tattoo parlor scene, so actor Nick Cassavettes has filled in for the bit role. I’m sorry if you were hoping for the phone to ring, Mel Gibson. [ E! ]

Kirsten Dunst is having some second thoughts about her decision to marry. Sure, as one character notes, she’s positively glowing at her wedding, but soon she’s in the back room about to cry. Finally she makes the confession: “I’m not really happy.” Oh, the tragedy. If only another planet would come and crash into the earth to put her out of her misery! Ah, but have no fear – That hypothetical planet is actually hurtling toward our planet right now , and you know that Lars Von Trier is going to make sure that it collides! Yep, the trailer for Von Trier’s “beautiful film about the end of the world,” Melancholia , has arrived. Naturally, borderline NSFW nudity lies ahead.
