A Real Human Being and a Real Hero: Ryan Gosling Apparently Stops New York Street Fight

Movie stars: they really are just like us! They didn’t like Terrence Malick’s Tree of Life , they have trouble containing their bladders on international flights , and they break up gritty street fights? Perhaps! At least if they’re Ryan Gosling, who performed the latter chivalrous act recently in New York. Now, thanks to a passerby who couldn’t ignore the opportunity to capture the escalating urban violence on her cell phone, there is footage online. Ahead!

Germany’s Fine, But Where Should Woody Allen Film Next?

Following the recent success of Midnight in Paris and the filming of Bop Decameron in Rome, Woody Allen is apparently planning to set his next film in Germany . Exciting! And maybe a little predictable, but I’m enjoying the minor Zelig flashback this news conjures. Do you have visions for locales in the next leg of Allen’s film career? There’s one hope I refuse to let go…

The Man Who Peed With Fire: Watch Trailer for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

Nothing edifies the soul like an endless barrage of CGi fire. Remember when you’d come home from school in your wool cap, set your knapsack down in the chilly den, and Mother would crank up computer-animated flames in the plasma-screen hearth? Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance understands and would like to add a few more soul-tickling items to your precious memories: Nicolas Cage’s terrifying gaze, leather jackets, and fire pee. Serious.

New Toy Story Short to Precede The Muppets in Theaters

Disney’s D23 Expo just unleashed a delightful tidbit: The Muppets , which we’re suddenly craving , will play in theaters this November with a new Toy Story short called Small Fry . Earlier this year, Cars 2 premiered with a Toy Story Toon about Ken and Barbie’s Hawaiian Vacation . Any plot guesses for this one? I’m hoping Bo Peep returns bearing, like, 13 Fisher Price Little People children. [ /Film ]

Robert Downey Jr. is not just a laudable actor who earned the coolest Oscar nomination of the past decade for his performance in Tropic Thunder ; he’s also a damn quotable person . But what happens when he’s asked to speak about Iron Man 3 , a film that Lethal Weapon writer/ Kiss Kiss Bang Bang director Shane Black hasn’t finished writing yet and comes out in May 2013? He’s not as revealing or candid (since, uh, there’s nothing to reveal). Instead, he says things like this.

From Captain America to Drug-Addicted Lawyer: Watch Chris Evans in the Trailer for Puncture

In this summer’s Captain America , Chris Evans embodies a sickly man who, after being injected with miracle drug, becomes a crime-fighting hero. In this September’s based-on-a-true-story indie Puncture , Chris Evans plays a sickly (in the drug-addicted sense) lawyer who chooses to fight health care crime in the court room. Watch Evans transition away from his Marvel superhero role in the first trailer for Puncture after the jump.
