Nicki Minaj Unleashes ‘Massive Attack’ At Last

The rapper’s long-awaited first single hit the Internet and airwaves Monday night. By Shaheem Reid Nicki Minaj Photo: MTV News Not only does Nicki Minaj hang out with Lil Wayne and Drake , but according to her new song, “Massive Attack,” she also chills with Mr. Miyagi and the Phantom of the Opera. The wait is over: Minaj has released her first official single. The track hit the Net on Monday night, and Funk Master Flex blasted off on Hot 97 with it. The track fuses hip-hop and dance, and Minaj adds a little international flavor by spitting some lyrics with a Caribbean accent. “So, so hot in here it feels like a jungle/ Me don’t like boys that ain’t jumbo,” she raps. “You know I got the ammo/ That’s why I bulletproof the Lambo/ In the Middle East on a camel/ Running through the jungle, Rambo/ Liberace tango/ Swinging on a vine, mango/ So, call me Simba, little mama, ’cause Mufasa couldn’t stop her … .” “It’s produced by Sean Garrett and Alex the Kid,” Minaj explained to MTV News recently in New York. “The beat, as soon as I heard it, I was in Africa being captivated by crazy drums. It’s a very rare. … You’re not gonna get the song the first time you hear it. After the second or third time, you’re gonna be like, ‘Whoa, what is this?’ It sounds nothing like anything that’s out right now. “It’s so next-level futuristic,” she continued. “Shout-out to Sean, because one thing, he’s great with getting that other-level creativity that other people don’t get. So, since I heard his writing style, I always wanted to collabo and work with him. I felt that he’s one of the people that would get me, get my personality and get that on a record and choose a beat that would illustrate Nicki Minaj. And he did.” Garret told Mixtape Daily in February that “Massive Attack” is “explosive.” “I can’t wait for y’all to hear it, man,” he said. “It’s just given me a lot of time to create some real special music that’s a lot different from what people expected. “I’m really, really excited about Nicki because I think that what Nicki has understood is that she can do whatever she wants to do,” he continued. “She’s a dreamer just like myself. I feel like when you’re creative … it’s basically like her whole image thing. She’s taken her image to a whole other level with the whole Barbie thing. And I think she’s very imaginative and her music’s great and she’s not scared of nothing. She’s fearless. As long as you’re fearless in life you can do anything.” Nicki and Sean shot the video for “Massive Attack” with director Hype Williams early this month in California. Amber Rose and the Birdman also make cameos. “I kinda always like to do things in an unexpected fashion,” Minaj said on the set. “I didn’t want to shoot the typical new-artist vision. Thank god I have a wonderful label that stands behind me and my vision. I met Hype in a freakin’ airport. I didn’t recognize him without his dreads. We exchanged information, and it happened to be a week before I wanted to shoot a video. I told him the idea. Of course, I had to let Baby and Slim know and hope they would understand my expensive taste. It all came together. Sean Garrett is on the hook.” Related Artists Nicki Minaj Drake Lil Wayne

‘Hills’ Trailer Teases Divorce, Intervention, Controversy

Trailer for show’s final season premieres: Kristin confronts drug rumors, Heidi shows her plastic surgery to her mom. By Jocelyn Vena Heidi Montag in the “Hills” final season trailer premiere Photo: MTV It seems like “The Hills” is saving the best drama for its last season. In a trailer for the final season of “The Hills” that premiered on Tuesday (March 30), there’s barely a topic that isn’t touched upon: Heidi Montag’s plastic surgery, rumors that Heidi and Spencer are breaking up and concerns about Kristin Cavallari’s drug use are all teased in the trailer for the final season, which premieres on April 27. The trailer opens with scenes from the first season of the show, featuring original star Lauren Conrad. “Four girls moved to L.A. …” the trailer reads as a montage of some of LC’s greatest moments flash and as she makes friends with the girls who would shape her life and the show: Heidi Montag, Audrina Patridge and Whitney Port. The trailer then reads, “We watched them love,” with scenes of LC hanging out with her ex, Jason Wahler, then cuts to scenes of Heidi and Lauren arguing over rumors that Heidi had reportedly started about her. And before long, Heidi was moving out to live with Spencer, even as Heidi came to the realization that LC still means a lot to her. And although Conrad left the show just as Heidi and Spencer got married in the middle of season five, the trailer teases that in the final season, “Nothing stays the same forever.” Kristin Cavallari makes her grand return to the show and soon Heidi would go home to Colorado for the final season and show her mom her plastic surgery: “Nobody’s seen Heidi 3.0.” It seems her new look has left her mom speechless: She asks, “Do I look good?” and does not get the answer she was hoping for. It seems there will also be several new friends in the fold, including Audrina’s new beau, musician Ryan Cabrera, and Kristin and Brody Jenner will continue to examine their feelings for one another. “Brody and I, we’ll always have a thing,” Kristin confesses. But the trailer also dabbles in the rumors that Kristin had been experimenting with drugs. “We are worried about you,” Stephanie tells her with Lo by her side, as Kristin denies ever having any drug problems. The trailer ends with many questions unanswered: Can Heidi and Spencer make it? Will Spencer be able to control his anger issues? Can the friends finally let go of past dramas and move on as the show comes to an end? We’ll find out after the season begins on April 27 … What are you most looking forward to for the final season? Tell us in the comments! “The Hills” final season begins on Tuesday, April 27, at 10 p.m. ET on MTV. Related Videos ‘The Hills’ Final Season Trailer Premiere

‘The Hills’ Stars Reveal What They’d Like To See On Final Season

‘I wish for a happier season,’ Lo Bosworth says of last 12 episodes, kicking off April 27. By Jocelyn Vena Kristen Cavallari Photo: MTV News Now that it’s been announced that the new season of “The Hills” will be its last , some of the show’s stars are discussing what they’d like to see happen in the final 12 episodes, kicking off April 27. Will Lauren Conrad come back? Will Kristin Cavallari stir up some more relationship trouble? Will Speidi finally start a family? It seems like anything is possible as the cast bids a fond farewell. “I’ve had the best time,” Cavallari told MTV News about her return to reality TV at the season-finale party in December. So what does she foresee happening in the new season? “In two weeks, so much can go on. Already, it’s like night and day to what’s happen[ed]. So I have no idea. In the ‘Hills’ world, so much can happen in one day, so I have no idea.” Castmate Lo Bosworth, who entered the reality-TV world alongside Cavallari on “Laguna Beach,” said she’d like to see a little less drama for the show’s final season, though it feels like that might be an impossible dream. “I wish for a happier season next time,” she said in December. “I would like a little return to normalcy, actually, sort of like previous seasons. It was a little more — not naive, but had more charm to it, just ’cause we didn’t really know what we were doing.” And while last season was Lauren Conrad-free after she left the show to pursue other interests, does her bestie Lo ever think she might make a cameo? “Highly doubtful,” she said. “I think she’s very content.” What do you want to see happen in the show’s last season? Should LC return? Tell us in the comments! “The Hills: Final Season” premieres April 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT followed by “The City” at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.

Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato And Joe Jonas Take Over ‘American Idol’

This week’s mentor sings ‘When I Look at You’ while the new couple tackle ‘Make a Wave.’ By Katie Byrne Miley Cyrus on “American Idol” Wednesday Photo: Fox On Tuesday night, Miley Cyrus dished out advice to the “American Idol” contestants to maximize their performances. On Wednesday night (March 24), however, the Disney princess took the stage herself to sing “When I Look at You” from her upcoming movie “The Last Song.” Cyrus seemed to take her own advice by connecting with the audience and making eye contact during the dramatic performance. Dressed in a long, white-satin dress, she started out playing a grand piano engulfed in fog and singing in a hushed tone. The quiet beginning belied what was still to come. Once Miley stood up from the piano bench and took center stage for the second verse, she started belting out the song. Fitting the song’s power-ballad feel, she even did some head-banging, whipping her long, wavy hair around violently as her guitarist tackled his solo. The last line of the song — “You appear just like a dream to me” — matched the fantasy-like stage design, which included trees covered in twinkling lights. The next performers in the jam-packed results show were new couple Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato , who sang their Friends for Change: Project Green song “Make a Wave.” The inspirational track — which is set to be featured in the upcoming Disney film “Oceans” — stresses the importance of protecting the world’s water habitat. The pair stood side-by-side for the first verse before finally facing each other during the chorus, giving the audience just what they wanted. Demi even sang right to her Jonas Brother when she sang the line: “Let’s show a little love.” “Good chemistry between these two onstage right now,” Seacrest joked at the end of the performance. ‘The Hills’: Next Season Will Be Its Last

‘The Hills: Final Season’ to premiere April 27. By MTV News staff Kristin Cavallari Photo: Miranda Penn Turin The season finale of “The Hills” in December left a lot of unanswered questions: Will Kristin and Justin Bobby last? Was that really the last time Audrina and Justin Bobby will ever speak? Will Brody actually break up with Jayde? And will Heidi and Spencer ever have a little Pratt? Those questions will become a lot more dramatic during the show’s sixth and final season, which was announced by Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday (March 24). Yes, the forthcoming season will be the show’s last. “I think we’ve told the story of struggle and of finding yourself in L.A.,” creator Adam DiVello told EW. “A lot of these kids have found themselves and have certainly embarked on different careers and different paths.” Indeed, many of the events of the past few months find their way into the season, including Heidi Montag’s plastic surgery, the results of which she shows to her mother in the first episode. “We tell the whole story,” DeVello said. “We pick right up where Heidi goes and sees her parents. And our cameras are there that minute the mother opens the door and sees her daughter for the first time.” Executive producer Liz Gateley added, “It’s a really touching but heartbreaking scene to watch.” DiVello also commented on rumors that Montag’s husband Spencer Pratt had left the show. “Spencer is dealing with some stuff right now, and once he gets through that, we’ll be back to shooting with Spencer again. Bottom line is you will see him. He’ll be in most of the episodes.” Also in the show’s final 12 episodes, fans will see Audrina Patridge dating singer Ryan Cabrera and Kristin Cavallari contending with rumors of drug abuse. “When Kristin was in Miami for the Super Bowl, there was definitely some late nights for her and some speculation that she might be partying a little too hard,” Gateley said. “So we’re definitely going to cover that part of Kristin. We’re pretty much covering everything you’ve read [about in the tabloids].” And perhaps most pressing of all, will Lauren Conrad, who left the show in 2009, be back? We’ll just have to wait and see, although DiVello did say: “I always joked it would be nice to see Lauren get married.” “The Hills: Final Season” premieres on April 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT followed by “The City” at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Miley Cyrus: I’m Not A Doll

Miley Cyrus , 17, is growing up fast and she wants everyone to know. The teen star of Hannah Montana said she is ready to not be treated like a product or a “doll” according to UPI reports. “I hate being thought of as a product, it’s my biggest pet peeve. I am not a doll, and people want to treat me that way. They say, ‘Now this is what we need to do to your make-up, and this is what I want you to wear,’ and I’m like, ‘Dude, I choose.'” Cyrus has made some independent moves over the past year, including brazenly quitting Twitter and warning teens of the perils of spending time on-line. Cyrus, who appeared in a grown-up gown at the Oscars this year, is facing her fourth and final season of Hannah Montana.
