Tony Romo’s wife Candice Crawford attended the White House Correspondents dinner this weekend and looked amazing. Up there with Michelle Obama ! The pair were among the guests at the political/media/celebrity “nerd prom,” and made quite an entrance in her first public event since becoming a mom. Just three weeks after Candice give birth to son Hawkins Crawford Romo, the blonde beauty was slim and stunning in a white, figure-hugging gown . Three weeks, people. Talk about a weight loss touchdown, or something. Candice and brother Chace, who stars on Gossip Girl , definitely hit the genetic lottery. Which got us thinking: Who would you rather … you know?
The 911 call made by Jennifer Hudson’s sister, upon finding the body of her murdered mother, was released today in court. The heartbreaking evidence is being used by the defense in its case against William Balfour, who is on trial for killing Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew. And the portions played for the jury were as heartbreaking as you can imagine. “Help, please,” Julia Hudson is heard telling a 911 operator. “Oh, God. Somebody’s killed my mother, somebody’s killed my mother… Please help me. Oh my God, oh my God… please… please… can you please send an ambulance, please. Oh my God.” The call lasts about three minutes, with Julia saying she just arrived home from work and detailing how there’s “blood coming from her her heard” and a “bullet hole in our front door.” Jennifer Hudson took the stand last week and broke down in tears when shown a photo of her mother. She then exited the courtroom a day later when attorneys broke out a picture of her nephew’s corpse.
Nadya Suleman is officially insolvent. Like for real broke. Octomom filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy today in federal court, just one month after going on welfare. Apparently public assistance didn’t go far enough. The bankruptcy filing confirms what we pretty much already knew – that the mom of 14 is carrying a mountain of debt she has no hope of paying off. Chapter 7 is the most serious form of bankruptcy , so although it isn’t specified in public records how much Octomom owes and to whom … it’s clearly a lot. And she’s flat broke. Her house, which was in such horrendous condition last week that police investigated her for child endangerment, will be auctioned off . Suleman has struggled with her finances for years, which isn’t a big shock if you do the quick math: 14 kids + 0 jobs + 0 partner = deep financial crap. It’s all very sad, and begs the question … Should her kids be taken away?
‘It’s the story of someone growing up, trying to figure out who he is,’ MC tells Mixtape Daily of his new mixtape. By Rob Markman Photo: MTV News Main Pick Headliner : Mac Miller Representing : Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Mixtape : Macadelic Real Spit : How do you follow up a #1 independent album and a sold-out tour? If you’re Mac Miller , you treat your fans to a free mixtape. On Friday (March 23) the Pittsburgh spitter dropped Macadelic, a trippy ride through the psyche of a fun-loving MC who is adept at expressing his innermost feelings. “It’s like the story of someone who is growing up, trying to figure out who he is and trying to figure out what he’s supposed to do in the world and how he’s gonna change it,” Mac told Mixtape Daily. “I think it’s a great piece because it’s a great part of my career, it’s a great time right now and I feel like I been making mixtapes for five years, so this one is very special to me.” Over the thudding, bass-rattling sound bed of “Amnesia,” Mac cautiously drowns his crumbling love life in a cloudy codeine cup. “This is real girl, don’t be scared, it’s only fair/ I warn you love’s a drug that can kill you,” he hazily raps. The love-as-a-drug theme continues on “Vitamins.” Over a dreamy Big Jerm beat, Mac poetically recalls an addictive lovemaking session that leaves him all out of sorts in the aftermath. Then with foggy vocals, Miller seeks comfort for his growing pains on “Clarity.” “It’s a lot different from anything I’ve ever done,” Mac told MTV News backstage at the mtvU Woodies earlier this month. “In my past projects, I always thought about them a lot, like, ‘Where are the party jams? Where are the jams that are fun?’ ” Apparently Mac’s days aren’t always soundtracked by “Donald Trump” and “Party on Fifth Ave.” Throughout the tape the Blue Slide Park rapper continually contemplates his life’s purpose in the face of his growing fame. “Sometimes I wonder who the f— I am,” Mac rhymes at the start of “The Question.” The self-reflecting tune gets quite the boost from Young Money boss Lil Wayne, who makes a surprise appearance at the end of the track. Weezy spits a free-associative verse in which he affectionately shouts out his new machine gun, which he strangely compares to a newborn baby. Macadelic isn’t completely pensive, though; there is the Cam’ron-assisted “Ignorant,” which has Miller rapping about his gold Rolex and weed habits alongside the Dipset captain. “Lucky Ass Bitch” is another winner, thanks to producer Lex Luger’s kinetic bounce and Juicy J’s classic vocal contribution. On “Desperado,” Mac flexes his MC muscle, with the 20-year-old rhyme-slinger spitting some of his best rhymes over ID Labs’ Wild West-inspired production. In short, Macadelic has something for everyone. “I was trying to make a complete project, but on this project, all I wanted to do is just say what was on my mind,” he said. “I just worried about saying what I wanted to say, and I felt like there were a lot of things that I wanted to get off my chest, and this mixtape was the way to do it.” Joints to Check For: “Vitamins”: “The concept is that this drug is actually love. It’s a drug that I’m taking, so all the emotions and the feelings that are coming from this said drug are actually coming from love.” “Ignorant”: “I was in Harlem because I’m a huge Big L fan. And Cam hit me, he saw me Instagramming pictures, he said, ‘What are you doin’ in Harlem?’ I said, ‘Chillin’.’ And he said ‘Alright, I’m about to have someone come get you.’ So I went over to his crib, we got in the studio.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines .
Rapper’s fifth LP, F.I.V.E., could be his last album with Interscope. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Felicia ‘The Poetess’ Morris The Game Photo: MTV News Game only has one LP left on his Interscope contract, and after he drops the follow-up to 2011’s The R.E.D. Album, the platinum-selling Compton rapper will contemplate his musical independence. “Independent. That seems like a really, really good move where I can capitalize off of all the finances being made off of my music for once. But, I don’t know, I kinda like having a lot of help, a lot of assistance from a big label,” Game told MTV News on Thursday. “I don’t know, maybe we’ll have a meeting about a lot of money or I’ll be talking to my conscience.” Earlier this month, Game announced his new album title, F.I.V.E., to XXLMag.com , but it may be some time before it hits shelves. “I haven’t even started working on it yet. I first came up with the album title, which is F.I.V.E., and then came up with its acronym, which is Fear Is Victory’s Evolution,” he explained to MTV News. “It’s got a good concept, and once the budget is open on that I’ll get to rolling.” Game, who was the subject of Thursday night’s “Behind the Music” on VH1, is reluctant to offer up anything resembling a release date due to the multiple push-backs that he’s experienced with The R.E.D. Album. “You what I learned from this last album is to never give anybody a date to anything; I’ll let the label do that when it’s time,” he said. On Wednesday, Game released his “The City” video with Kendrick Lamar. But it looks like that will be the last single he drops off of The R.E.D. Album. “Personally I’d like to just move on and get the budget open for my fifth album, which is something I don’t think Interscope is too much in a rush to do, being that it’s my last contractual, obligated album on the label,” he said. “I would love to just keep it rolling.” Should Game go independent or stick with Interscope? IV His Son — two Atlanta-based Christian rap artists — and Jovan Mackenzy, in partnership with online production company CrownRightsMedia.com have made a video that is causing quite a stir in the Christian community. In the video IV His Son and Jovan Mackenzy are seen standing in front of the popular mega churches of two controversial Atlanta pastors, Bishop Eddie Long of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and Creflo Dollar of World Changers Church International . IV His Son asks the listener if they are supposed to follow Long and Dollar in lieu of all the controversy surrounding their “prosperity gospel,” as well as the sexual accusations that Long settled out of court despite vowing to fight them. IV His Son raps that believers should be following the Bible instead. Watch the video and let us know what you think! For the second time in three months, Vanessa Long has called off her divorce from Bishop Eddie Long , the AJC reports. DeKalb County court filings posted online show that Vanessa Long’s divorce petition has been dismissed. The online postings in the case of “Long vs. Long” indicate the petition was dismissed “without prejudice.” Lawrence Cooper — one of Eddie Long’s lawyers — confirmed to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Vanessa Long had asked that the divorce petition be dismissed. He did not tell the AJC whether or not the Longs were reunited. This past December, Vanessa Long announced she was seeking to end her 21-year-marriage to Eddie Long following “a great deal of deliberation and prayer.” She announced soon after that after “prayerful reflection,” she had changed her mind about going through with the divorce. When I was approached with the opportunity to interview actor, Brian White ( Stomp The Yard, Fighting ), I said, “sure.” He is starring along-side Michelle Williams in a new DVD entitled, “What My Husband Doesn’t Know.” “Interesting title”, I thought. It is about a woman who isn’t getting the attention she desires and needs from her husband who is a wealthy man invested more in his finances than his wife. Long story short, White’s sexy exterior is summoned to fix a leak in Williams’ home, but the leak turns out to be a metaphor for her broken marriage which he fixes with his pipe laying skills [wink, wink]. Watch the trailer, here ! Given the fact that Brian’s co-star is a black woman and he is a black man with a black mother, I find the conversation we had was slightly accurate yet odd. White has had trouble with his words before (See here) , but after our discussion on maintaining a healthy relationship and the essentials to a successful marriage, things went left and I concluded that he has something – maybe not “hate” – but something… a gripe perhaps, not only with black women, but the black race. What is your insight on the Spike Lee vs. Tyler Perry beef? Why do you think people hate Tyler Perry so much? Because Tyler holds a mirror up to people. Stereotypes are not stereotypes today. The most popular character [ in, Why Did I Get Marred? ], and it’s not the one that Tyler picked as the most popular, is Tasha! You have Janet Jackson and Jill Scott; my point is Jill Scott and Janet are huge music stars with huge fan bases, Tasha became the most popular because her character is portrayed the most like “Love & Hip Hop” the most like, “Desperate Housewives of Atlanta,” [we think he means “Housewives Of Atlanta] you might as well switch it around and pop in Nene [Leaks]. [Tasha Smith] is brilliant, she’s nothing like the character, she’s just portraying what she sees in society, magnified.[sic] And people get mad and say that’s not us. Yes it is , turn on “Love & Hip Hop” and turn on “Desperate Housewives Of Atlanta” those are “reality shows.” You can’t call something reality then get mad when it shows up in the movies as reality but that’s what we’re doing. That’s where the cycle continues. They don’t do that in Africa, they don’t do that in France; they don’t connect with that message. What’s interesting is we, here, in America connect with that message and get upset at it. That’s what Tyler sees. If you look at Spike, what is his most successful movie ever? successful defined by how much money it made versus how much it cost to make. “Inside Man” and the stars were Clive Owens, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Denzel Washington and Jodi Foster… Four huge actors, two white, one known–Denzel and then another amazing British actor people don’t know here. That is not the type of film that Spike necessarily wants to focus on, right? So what makes money isn’t what Spike makes, so it’s upsetting and frustrating–I would assume. But, what Tyler makes, does make money…$500 million worth of money. [sic] Do you think Tyler Perry only depicts black people in a negative light? There are a lot of black people who fit into the stereotype but there are a lot of black people who don’t. You can’t call it a stereotype if it’s the majority. The most prevalent image in “urban society” right now is women like Nene [Leaks]. If there’s a fight that breaks out on “Love & Hip Hop” those people are one every blog, the cover of every magazine the next week. It’s not Taraji or Gabrielle, it’s whoever just got into a fist fight. Tyler’s not stereotyping, he’s holding up a mirror and people are mad at him because people don’t want to look at that image in that way. [sic] When we use the term here in America, and say “black movies,” that has no reference for the rest of the world. Look at “Luther,” Idris just won a Golden Globe for “Luther,” that is NOT a black show, it’s a British show. British don’t see color they see quality. People who watch BBC don’t go, ‘oo’ there’s that black show, nah. Most African Americans were not even aware of Luther because it’s not a stereotypically urban themed show. Once we in America start focusing on quality first and telling human stories that connect with everybody that might want to watch it, the problems will solve themselves.[sic] Do you believe that the stereotypes we see on TV are prevalent in the race or just portrayed on TV? Is it really the majority of black women that act like Nene? I have five sisters and two moms, none of them are like that! To me, I can say I’m offended if they want to represent that and don’t want to represent my mom, but my mom represents Phylicia Rashād and has been represented on TV all my life. I can’t say that. I don’t watch “Real Housewives,” I’ve never seen an episode of “Love & Hop Hop” I’m not supporting it, I’m not giving it ratings. I’m not making the stereotype exist on TV. You’ve watched it, you’ve added to why it’s on TV.[sic] If you look at Hip Hop, the rappers and their girlfriends, their reality shows look just like “Love & Hip Hop” and “Housewives,” some of them are even on those shows… so we’re taking the line between what’s real and what’s on TV and its all blurred but it looks exactly the same as what’s in Tyler’s movies . That’s not what I see when I go on Rowland Martins show or having this conversation with you, we are not the majority . Look at the statistics in education, only our community not all blacks African Americans we perform the worst along with Mexicans . The rest of the blacks in the world are like second and third. There’s no correlation with race, it’s our culture. Will Smith never made anything that wasn’t for everybody. He played a homosexual man with an all-white cast of Oscar winners that branded him as quality, that’s why people follow him…no other reason. [sic] Look at all British actors, they take all the roles. When we see David Oyelowo, from Red Tails , he stands on the stage and speaks in his normal voice, he looks like he just came out of Oxford and everybody else looks like they just came out the club . Nate Parker and Tristan are very educated…[continued in audio] Tyler Perry’s “Good Deeds” [TRAILER] Is Brian, spot on just a turn off? Once a stage parent, always a moocher. Scarlett Johnasson ‘s former mom-ager is still trying to live the good life her daughter’s fame has afforded her. But there’s on little catch: she’s no longer on ScarJo’s payroll. So now she’s mad because she can’t afford the house she wants. Scarlett Johansson’s mom and former manager, Melanie Sloan, signed a contract to purchase a $1.4 million two-bedroom in Midtown in October. But less than two months later, the California dweller sued the owner of the 1,228-square-foot pad in The Strand at 500 W. 43rd St. — a doorman building with a swimming pool — demanding the return of her $130,000 deposit. She claimed she is cash-poor and can’t obtain a mortgage, according to court papers. The real-estate battle offers a rare peek into the finances of a stage mother, whose famous daughter was a cash cow until she canned her mom two years ago and hired a professional manager. Even though Sloan attempted to manage clients besides her daughter, the move left ScarJo’s mom with no major source of income, according to her lawyers. Last October, Sloan, 60, presented the apartment sellers, violinist Christina Castelli and pianist Grant Moffett, with a strong financial profile, even claiming 2011 was one of her “best years yet in the entertainment industry,” according to the sellers’ lawyers. The move would bring her closer to ScarJo, who lives in Manhattan. The stage mom managed her daughter’s career since Scarlett made her big-screen debut at age 9 in Rob Reiner’s “North.” She took a 10 percent cut of all earnings, according to a contract reviewed by The Post. ScarJo’s parents separated when she was 13. But in November 2009, Scarlett sacked mom in favor of Hollywood power agent Rick Yorn, whose roster includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz. “Once I got married, I felt that I needed to cut the cord,” the 26-year-old star told Vanity Fair last month. (She divorced actor Ryan Reynolds in July.) Sloan told the seller she still had money coming in from projects she had signed for ScarJo, including campaigns with Moët Champagne, Dolce & Gabbana and the “Iron Man” movies. But now she claims the money spigot has been turned off. A few weeks after signing the contract, Sloan suddenly cried poverty. Wait: you managed Scarlett Johansson for more than ten years and took 10% of every check she got, plus whatever else you got off the strength of being her mother… but now you’re broke?
