Many (if not most) trial observers believe that accused murderer Casey Anthony is indeed guilty of killing her two-year-old daughter Caylee. Some of the physical evidence against her is less than overwhelming, however, according to a Casey Anthony defense witness testifying today. The air in Casey Anthony’s car trunk contained chemicals associated with human decomposition, but didn’t conclusively prove a body was there. Dr. Michael Sigman, a professor at the University of Central Florida, said Casey’s trunk showed traces of gasoline, chloroform and other chemicals. However, those readings were all low, and said chemicals also are linked to onions, cabbages and Clorox, among other things. So … it’s tough to say. As a result, Sigman told attorney Cheney Mason, “I cannot conclusively determine that there had been human remains in the trunk of the car.” This comes after prosecutors strongly suggested there were. Prosecutors in the murder trial in Orlando had called several experts who concluded that based on the air samples, a strand of hair, insect activity and the reaction of cadaver dogs that a body was in fact in the Florida mom’s car. Among several other witnesses who took the stand at the trial today was Madeline Montgomery, a forensic toxicologist for the FBI. She testified that she found no evidence of drugs – including calming medications Xanax and Valium – in hair presumed to be Caylee Anthony’s. But she also acknowledged she could not test the hair for chloroform, which was one of the ways prosecutors say Caylee was murdered . Casey Anthony, 25, faces the death penalty if convicted. What do you think? Is she …
“For someone like me who is healthy, who works hard for my body, it#39;s very frustrating,” says the country star, 28, who hosted a benefit for tornado victims alongside new husband Eddie Cibrian, 37, in Florida on Sunday. “I work out and take care of myself, and not in an over-obsessive way.” LeAnn Rimes and her trainer want critics of her lean frame to know one thing: she#39;s fine, thank you very much. Rimes tells us the “hoopla about my body” – which intensified after photos of her in a bi
Yes, we’re talking about the same Sean Kingston who could have possibly died last Sunday and is still laying in a hospital bed with a tube to help him breath. According to TMZ , if Kingston was speeding when he wrecked out on his jet ski, he did so in a Manatee area. And that’s something the State of Florida takes very seriously. Sean Kingston ain’t in the clear yet after crashing a high-speed jet ski into a Miami bridge — TMZ has learned the singer could still face legal repercussions … for disturbing the local manatees. Law enforcement sources tell us … the area where Kingston crashed last weekend is a manatee zone — and according to Florida state law, boats and watercrafts are prohibited from producing a wake in manatee-populated areas. Based on the jet ski damage … Kingston probably produced a wake before his accident — but law enforcement is still investigating to figure out exactly what happened prior to the crash. If Kingston IS found in violation of the manatee law — he faces a maximum fine of $32,500. Wow. 32 Gs though? Florida is out of control.
A crime scene investigator testified Friday he found the hair in Anthony#39;s car trunk near the wheel well after the Florida woman#39;s 2-year-old daughter Caylee was reported missing. It was just a strand of hair, but it could play a critical role in the murder trial of Casey Anthony. Gerardo Bloise of the Orange County Sheriff#39;s Office told the jury in the Orlando courtroom how he marked the hair as well as dirt, leaves and other debris in the trunk of the Pontiac Sunfire. Bloise also b
For his The Situation wants to stop being exploited by others. Namely his father. In an effort to get his bigmouth dad, Frank Sorrentino, to stop blabbing about him and his “selfish ways,” Sitch filed a suit against Sitch Sr. in a Miami court today. Wanting his dad to put a sock in it is one thing, but what legal grounds does he have? Frank’s website, TheConfrontationSite, infringes on his rights, sayeth Sitch. Mike says his dad’s hampering him from … doing whatever it is he does. According to the docs (filed in Florida since Frank resides in Boca Raton), Mike, who’s raking in ca$h with appearances and endorsements, also wants his father to stop attempting to damage his reputation , which he is “actively” trying to do. Situation, who’s seeking unspecified damages for unfair competition and business practices, is asking the Miami federal judge to force his father to STFU ASAP, and prevent him from using Mike’s name and likeness. Period. Last week, Frank went off on Mike , bashing his son for more or less being a sellout and abandoning the Sitch family after he GTL’d his way to stardom. [Photo: Fame Pictures]
The ex-2 Live Crew rapper says his record-business experience ‘is allowing me to be able to run for a public office like this.’ By Alvin Blanco Luther Campbell Photo: Bennett Raglin/ WireImage It’s politics as usual for Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell. On April 12, the former 2 Live Crew frontman, along with 10 other candidates, formally applied to run for mayor of Florida’s Miami-Dade County after a recall vote kicked then-mayor Carlos Alvarez out of office a month ago. MTV News caught up with the pioneering hip-hop artist and businessman to discuss his political ambitions. Campbell said he planned on running for mayor of Miami in 2012, but that Alvarez’s departure sped up his plans to “get off the bench and get in the game, get off the sideline.” Campbell’s platform includes economic development to revitalize small businesses, job creation, public safety and affordable housing, among other initiatives. While mainstream outlets with a superficial understanding of his career may dismiss him as just a former rapper trying to get into politics, Campbell insists his career has granted him just the right experience. “Look at my history. When you talk about rapper, at the end of the day you can say 2 Live Crew, but who owned the company?” Campbell told MTV News. “I explain to people that I am a businessman, as a kid I DJ’d, and then owned that company, and then 2 Live Crew. I give them the story about it. I let people know I did that on the weekends. I wasn’t able to go on long tours like Run-DMC and everybody because I had to run the business. I had to make hip-hop act] H-Town gold and platinum, I had to go and produce Pitbull and Trick Daddy and all these different artists. People just don’t understand that the music business is a business. It is a global business. That experience is allowing me to be able to run for a public office like this.” Campbell claims that his Luke Records was the first black-owned hip-hop label, releasing music from 2 Live Crew, H-Town, Poison Clan and his own solo material. Campbell also was instrumental in launching the careers of Trick Daddy and Pitbull. In recent years, the “I Wanna Rock” rapper has dialed back on his “Uncle Luke” reputation. He starred in a VH1 reality series called “Luke’s Parental Advisory” in 2008, and has performed community service and founded youth programs throughout Miami-Dade County for years. In the meanwhile, Miami has become a hotspot for the hip-hop world and the entertainment industry in general. Campbell had a hand in raising Miami’s profile via his artists’ videos and the groundwork he laid for the city’s current crop of hip-hop talent, like Rick Ross and DJ Khaled. Along with being a Miami native, Campbell believes that he possesses a greater affinity for the needs of its residents. “Right now the entertainment industry is a major economic boost for this city,” Campbell said. “These are some of the things that I created and I did, and I’m proud of that. So when I look at where we need to go as a community, who best has the ideas? Me. Some other guy who really is just in there just to take money from contractors and special interest groups, he’s in there to make money. I’m not in there to make money. I’m all right. I just want to make the haves and the have-nots all be able to participate in this beautiful city and get jobs and live comfortable.” What might not sit so well with Miami citizens, and what Campbell’s opponents will be sure to point out, are the past controversies surrounding his music. One infamous case was in 1990, when the American Family Association went after 2 Live Crew over the sexually explicit lyrics of “Me So Horny.” 2 Live Crew and Campbell defended themselves by citing their first-amendment rights to free speech and the case went all the way to the Supreme Court, where it was dismissed. Campbell defended his rights in court frequently, and being familiar with the justice system is another reason he believes he is qualified to run the affairs of his hometown. “One thing people know about me, I’m a fighter,” insisted Campbell, who listed Sonny Bono, Jesse Ventura and Arnold Schwarzenegger as examples of entertainers that became politicos. “Controversy comes with politics. All my controversy was based around politics. Tipper Gore came after me — that was politically motivated. When the vice president had something to say about us, when it’s time for me to go to the Supreme Court, all of that is politically motivated. So I understand politics as is.” Do you think Luther Campbell running for Miami-Dade mayor is a good idea? Share your opinions in the comments. Related Artists 2 Live Crew Luther Campbell
There’s been talk about passing an “anti-sagging law” for years now, which would prevent men from wearing their pants below their waist and exposing their underwear in public. Although some states have already banned “sagging pants”, it seems that more states are jumping on the bandwagon with this new law. Now, Florida senators are in the midst of passing the law that men can not expose their underwear in public and especially in school settings. State Senator Gary Siplin has been working on the bill which would be targeted towards school’s dress codes for six years now, and it seems like he is finally close to closing the deal. These rules will make it against the law when boys wear their pants so low that you’re able to see their underwear. This rule applies to both boys and girls. Kevin Gordon, a principle in a Florida school, says administrators are attempting to teach youth what is appropriate in the workplace. He stated: “if you are not dressed appropriately, then you’re not ready for school. If you are not ready for school, you’re not ready to be successful.” Hm, what do you think about this statement? The problem comes in when this law is targeted toward a certain group of men, i.e. African American men and boys. What happened to our First Amendment Right? I believe in the freedom of expression, so forgive me for thinking that people should be able to dress however they want to dress, even if it means having their pants hanging off their butts. My motto is “hey, you do you!” I don’t think that this issue of “sagging pants” would be a problem if the negative stereotypes didn’t come from it such as “thugs”, “gang bangers”, “jail birds” etc. and I think that it is a shame that the government would try and regulate people’s style of clothing. If they take away that freedom, what’s next?! What do you think? Do you think the way that you dress affects your success level? Do you think that the government has a reason to regulate how people dress? Read the full story at Bossip.com. Why We Need To Get Tough On Guns “If He Goes To Grad School I May Have To Leave My Job”
I don’t know what Lindsay Lohan did, but I think it’s safe to say it’s a fucking disaster. She looks like she’s been living in the fucking streets strung out on dirty semen and puddle water, or maybe that she got in a fight with one of those Florida grandmother’s, all plastic and doin’ the monster mash…Or maybe she’s trying to channel her inner sex doll, inner stripper, inner circus clown, inner wax statue doing her Madame Tussauds or some shit, and I find the whole thing highly erotic….only because I’ve experience Lohan first hand, and having her dance around her hotel room in high heels and pajama pants, to her album that was never released, crying because of Samantha Ronson while I drank free Vodka and ate her french fries as her friends railed lines of coke and tried to hire escorts, was probably one of the highlights of the last 5 years of my alcholism, but only cuz I forget pretty much all the other shit I get myself into…. Not that it matters…here’s Lohan…for old good times…
IRS imposed lien on Wayne’s multimillion-dollar Miami home for nonpayment of income taxes. By Alvin Blanco Lil Wayne Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Lil Wayne’s pockets are about to get a bit lighter, because Uncle Sam wants his fair share. The New Orleans rapper was hit with a federal tax lien to the tune of $5.6 million. According to The Detroit News , the IRS lien, dated March 2 but made official on March 28, was filed in Miami Dade County and notes that Dwayne M. Carter has an unpaid income-tax balance due of $3,351,078 for 2008 and $2,258,956 for 2009. The Miami Beach, Florida, address listed on the lien is for Wayne’s 15,101-square-foot mansion, which is currently on the market for a shade under $13 million. This is not the first time Lil Wayne has had to settle an overdue tax bill . Last year, the Young Money CEO was hit with a lien by the IRS that totaled $1.1 million for income tax years 2004, 2005 and 2007. Wayne, who reportedly paid the $1.1 million he already owed, will want to make sure he takes care of overdue taxes sooner rather than later. Recently, Ja Rule pleaded guilty to tax evasion in a federal court in New Jersey after admitting that he neglected to pay taxes on more than $4 million in income between 2004 and 2006. Already facing two years for attempted gun possession (Lil Weezy was arrested the same day as Ja Rule, resulting in his eight-month incarceration at Rikers Island), the Queens rapper will be sentenced for the tax evasion charges in June as well. Lil Wayne is currently on his I Am Still Music Tour, where he recently received a lap dance from Nicki Minaj during her show. Related Artists Lil Wayne
Looks like we know why the Republicans are so bent on tightening immigration laws… The next America is arriving ahead of schedule. And it could rattle assumptions about the coming presidential election. Last week’s release of national totals from the 2010 census showed that the minority share of the population increased over the past decade in every state, reaching levels higher than demographers anticipated almost everywhere, and in the nation as a whole. If President Obama and Democrats can convert that growth into new voters in 2012, they can get a critical boost in many of the most hotly contested states and also seriously compete for some highly diverse states such as Arizona and Georgia that until now have been reliably red. “One of the strengths of our candidacy in 2008 is, we had a broader battlefield; what these numbers suggest is that those same opportunities are there [for 2012], and there are new ones to consider,” David Axelrod, who is expected to be Obama’s senior campaign strategist, told National Journal. Even as the growing minority population creates new opportunities for Democrats, however, the party faces persistent challenges within the majority-white community. In November’s midterm elections, Republicans won 60 percent of white voters—the highest share of whites they have attracted in any congressional election in the history of modern polling. Since May, Obama’s job-approval rating among whites has exceeded 40 percent only twice in Gallup’s weekly summary of its nightly polling. Unless the economic recovery accelerates, many analysts in both parties believe that Obama could struggle to match the modest 43 percent of white voters he captured in 2008. These twin dynamics suggest that in many states the key question for 2012 may be whether Republicans can increase their advantage among whites enough to overcome what’s likely to be a growing share of the overall vote cast by minorities, who still break preponderantly for Democrats. In Florida, Georgia, Nevada, Virginia, and other key states that have experienced substantial minority growth, a National Journal analysis shows that Obama can win next year with a stunningly small percentage of the white vote—if Democrats can translate the minority-population growth into commensurate increases in the electorate. This election in 2012 is just as big if not bigger than the election in 2008. MAKE SURE YOU GET REGISTERED AND VOTE!!! Source
