Woman Rides Manatee, Gets Arrested in Florida

A Florida woman was caught on camera riding a manatee and was arrested Saturday on a charge of violating the Sunshine State’s Manatee Sanctuary Act. Ana Gloria Garcia Gutierrez, 53, mounted the endangered marine mammal September 30. She turned herself in to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office in Florida shortly after authorities released pictures of her atop the creature , according to reports. “[Gutierrez explained] she is new to the area and did not realize it was against the law to touch or harass manatees,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. An arrest warrant was issued for Gutierrez Saturday. She was taken into custody while working at Sears in St. Petersburg, according to law enforcement officials. Witnesses provided deputies with photos of Gutierrez on her joyride and a description, but they were unable to locate her until she turned herself in. FYI, the Florida Manatee Sanctuary Act states: “It is unlawful for any person at any time, by any means, or in any manner intentionally or negligently to annoy, molest, harass, or disturb or attempt to molest, harass, or disturb any Manatee.” No manatees were injured by Gutierrez, at least.

About Time: Salty Sore Loser GOP Houseboy Allen West Finally Concedes Florida Congressional Election

Another Teabagger bites the dust! Via CBS News : Allen West Concedes In Florida The third time’s a charm. Patrick Murphy has declared victory twice already in his race against Rep. Allen West for Florida’s 18th district. But this time, a declaration of victory means a bit more. After two weeks of challenging the election results in one of South Florida’s congressional district, Republican Rep. Allen West is throwing in the towel. Early Tuesday morning, the Tea Party favorite conceded that he does not have enough votes to beat Murphy. “[W]e will not contest the certification or challenge the seating of Congressman-Elect Murphy,” West said in a statement according to The Palm Beach Post. Murphy remained ahead of West by 0.58 percent, which is more than the 0.5 percent margin required by Florida law to require a full recount. West has called for partial recounts and challenged the accuracy of the St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections, but after a judge denied his latest request for a recount of all early votes and legal challenges failed to prove an alternate outcome, West conceded. He continued, however, to raise questions about the process. “While there are certainly still inaccuracies in the results and the actions of the St. Lucie County and Palm Beach County Supervisors of Elections rightly raise questions in my mind and for many voters, after much analysis and (Sunday’s) recount in St. Lucie County, our legal team does not believe there are enough over-counted, under-counted or fraudulent votes to change the outcome of the election,” West said in a statement. Despite West’s challenges, the 29-year-old Murphy was in Washington last week with the rest of the newly-elected members of the U.S. House for orientation. Womp! Womp! We have a feeling we ain’t done hearing about Mr.West though. SMH!

Glen Rogers Confesses to OJ Simpson Murders; Goldman Family Not Buying It

Florida serial killer Glen Rogers, who is currently on death row, raised eyebrows this week by allegedly confessing to murdering Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman in 1994. Nicole and Ron being O.J. Simpson’s ex-wife and her friend, of course. Rogers claims in his “confession” that O.J. Simpson paid him to break into Nicole’s home and steal $20,000 in jewelry, with authorization to kill her if necessary . The claim is the subject of a new Discovery Channel documentary on the killings airing this week. Ron’s dad Fred Goldman isn’t buying it for one second, saying: “O.J. Simpson murdered Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.” “The criminal trial showed overwhelming and monumental evidence that O.J. Simpson was the killer. There was no contrary evidence other than guess, innuendo, and rumor.” “The acquittal at the hands of the jury will never wash away this murder from the hands of O.J. Simpson, no matter how many Glen Rogers pop up on the media radar screen.” “Nothing changes the fact that O.J. Simpson murdered these people in cold blood.” The Juice is currently in prison in Nevada for an unrelated kidnapping and robbery charge, to the delight of pretty much every other human on the planet. You be the judge: Did Simpson commit the infamous murders?   Obviously He did View Poll »

Ho Sit Down: Judge Denies Super Salty GOP Goon Allen West’s Request For A Recount In Florida

Somebody get this dude a seat…. Judge Denies Allen West Florida Recount Request Some people just do not know when to take their soggy, deflated, defeated ball and go the hell home… via CBS News A St. Lucie County judge in Florida on Friday ruled against Rep. Allen West’s request for a recount of all early votes cast in his district, denying the one-term Republican’s latest cry for a do-over in the election he officially lost last week. West, a conservative firebrand and hero within the Tea Party, had filed legal complaints even before his loss was certified Saturday, suggesting foul play from St. Lucie County Elections Supervisor Gertrude Walker – a Democrat – in particular. He has not yet conceded. According to the Associated Press, West trails Democrat Patrick Murphy, who declared victory last week and is in Washington for freshman orientation, by 1,900 votes – outside the margin for an automatic recount. How do you STILL not concede after you’ve tried every desperate trick in the book and still come out with an L?

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal Puts Mittens On Blast For ‘Gifts’ Statement!

Finally, a Republican stands up to Robney’s ludicrous bull after he blames Barack’s win on “Obamacare Supporters”. According to Boston News : Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, a rising Republican star who stumped for Mitt Romney repeatedly on the campaign trail, assailed the failed presidential candidate for his remarks to donors on Wednesday that President Obama was reelected because of “gifts” to minorities, young people, and women. “I think that’s absolutely wrong,” Jindal said later Wednesday at a news conference in Las Vegas at a meeting of the Republican Governors Association. “We have got to stop dividing the American voters. We need to go after 100 percent of the votes, not 53 percent.“ Jindal’s reference to 53 percent was a criticism of Romney’s secretly recorded statement at a Florida fund-raiser in May that 47 percent of Americans are dependent on government assistance and do not take personal responsibility for their lives. The Louisiana governor, an Indian-American who is considered a potential presidential candidate in 2016, said that Republicans “need to continue to show how our policies help every voter out there achieve the American Dream, which is to be in the middle class, which is to be able to give their children an opportunity to be able to get a great education.” He added, “I absolutely reject that notion, that description” of Obama’s winning strategy, which Romney made in a conference call that reporters heard. “I think that’s absolutely wrong.” The election, Jindal said, showed that “if we’re going to continue to be a competitive party and win elections on the national stage and continue to fight for our conservative principles, we need two messages to get out loudly and clearly: One, we are fighting for 100 percent of the votes, and secondly, our policies benefit every American who wants to pursue the American dream. Period. No exceptions.” The criticism from Jindal, who is the incoming president of the GOP governors association, was echoed by Republican Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin, who was sitting with Jindal on a panel when the Louisiana chief executive made his comments. The Republican Party is not “just for people who are currently not dependent on the government,” Walker told CNN. “It’s for all Americans.” Let it go Mitt. Just let it go. Images via WENN

Taylor Swift Warns of "Toxic" Love

Taylor Swift is featured on the cover of yet another magazine this week. And you won’t believe it, but the singer is talking about her love life with Harper’s Bazaar . Without revealing any names (cough… cough… John Mayer… cough… cough…) Swift says “some combinations of people are toxic, you know? You have to find the right one that isn’t just going to explode into fiery ash and destruction.” Of course, this has been a challenge for Taylor, who recently split with Conor Kennedy . But at least there’s a silver lining for the best-seller, who is famous for penning singles about her break-ups. “Despite all of that and how unpleasant it is, as a writer you get a lot from it. It’s a crazy justification system. You know that guy you really wish you could erase from your memory? But then the answer is track six, eight, 12, and 13.” Referring to relationships as “the ultimate collaboration,” Swift also zeroes in on one of the problems that has plagued her over the years. “If I feel too much like I’m wearing the pants, I start to feel uncomfortable and then we break up.” Let’s take a look at the publications Taylor has covered during the past few weeks, as she’s been all around promoting ” Red .”

John McAfee, Billionaire Antivirus Inventor, Wanted for Murder in Belize

John McAfee, the inventor of antivirus programs who sold his software to Intel in 2010 for $7 billion, is the prime suspect in the murder of an American expatriate named Gregory Faull. Police in Belize tell Gizmodo.com that Faull was shot dead on Saturday at his home in San Pedro Town. He was found lying “in a pool of blood” by his house keeper and there was no sign of forced entry. Details are still coming in, but sources there had been a history of contention between McAfee and Faull, with the latter recently filing  a formal complaint with the local Mayor’s office that cited McAfee’s “roguish behavior.” San Pedro police have not established a motive beyond these arguments, but they make it clear in a statement that McAfee is “on the run from murder charges.” The software guru has been residing in Belize for several years.

2016 Election: Hillary Clinton vs. Jeb Bush?

It’s never too early to start thinking about the 2016 election. Okay, maybe it is, but those who have like the prospects of Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush. Yes, a Clinton-Bush White House race. Can you imagine? By 2016, eight years after Barack Obama succeeded George W. Bush and outlasted Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary, both political dynasties could rise again. The mere candidacy, let alone nomination and victory, of one or the other is no sure thing, but Clinton and Jeb Bush will loom large over their respective parties. Clinton, in particular, became her party’s leading contender in the 2016 nomination process starting the instant President Obama won reelection Tuesday. After barely falling short in 2008 and earning high marks and soaring approval ratings in four years as U.S. Secretary of State, she’d be the front-runner, hands down. Clinton is 65, however, and it is an open question as to whether she still covets the presidency and return to the political spotlight a campaign would entail. Jeb Bush, 59, most likely wouldn’t clear the room of potential competitors like Hillary, but remains one of the most talked-about GOP names for 2016. His two-term governorship of Florida, political gravitas, fundraising capability and appeal to Hispanics makes him a very formidable Republican, indeed. Bush’s wife, Columba, is of Mexican descent; their eldest son George P. Bush recently filed papers to run for office in his home state of Texas. Jeb Bush was mentioned – even encouraged by some to run- as a candidate for the 2012 GOP nomination; on a roster of 2016 contenders, he’d be top-tier. Who would you like to see run in the 2016 election?

George P. Bush to Run For Office in Texas

George P. Bush, the son of Jeb Bush, nephew of George W. Bush and grandson of George H.W. Bush, has filed to run for office in the state of Texas. The 36-year-old Bush has made a campaign filing in Texas that is required of candidates planning to run for state office, an official said Thursday night. A Fort Worth resident, he filed a campaign treasurer appointment Wednesday, a requirement for someone to become a candidate under campaign finance law. The report does not specify what office George P. Bush might seek, if any, and there were no other details on the filing, which wasn’t available online. In September, he did acknowledge his goal was to run for office in the near future and confirmed that he had his eyes on several statewide offices. Raised in Florida, where his dad was governor, Bush decided to settle in Texas, home to his uncle and his grandfather, former President George H.W. Bush. He runs a consulting firm and has been active in Republican Party outreach to college students. He’s also the co-founder of Hispanic Republicans of Texas. Jeb Bush married Columba Garnica Gallo, a Mexican-born philanthropist, in 1974. They also have another son, Jeb Jr., and a daughter, Noelle. Ana Navarro, who was the national Hispanic co-chairwoman for John McCain when he ran for president in 2008, tweeted her enthusiasm Thursday: “Wrote check for my friend, @georgepbush newly formed exploratory committee for office in TX. Young, pragmatic, Hispanic, just what GOP needs.” Bush and his wife, Amanda, met while attending law school at the University of Texas. After working as a lawyer, Bush became a partner in a real estate investment firm. He has started his second company, St. Augustine Partners, a business consulting firm aimed at small- and medium-market energy industries. Bush also has Navy service on his resume, including a six-month deployment to Afghanistan, where, for security purposes, he was given a different name. Not even those he was serving alongside knew he was a Bush.
