Lauryn Hill Checks Into Prison Via TMZ reports: Ready or not … Lauryn Hill has just reported to federal prison in Connecticut, where she will begin her 3 month sentence for tax evasion, TMZ has learned. Officials tell TMZ … the former Fugees singer was booked into the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury at 11:15 AM EST. We’re told the FCI is a “minimum security type facility” where inmates live in “barracks type” housing. We’re also told 38-year-old Hill will not be isolated in the facility — and will be housed with the general population. Report Shows Most Americans Believe Blacks Are More Racist Than Whites Are black folks really more racist than whites ??? Via Washington Times: Americans, by and large, see blacks as more racist than whites or Hispanics, a new survey said on Wednesday. But political ideology plays a large role in the findings, Rasmussen Reports said. Rasmussen found in its national telephone survey that 37 percent of U.S. adults believe blacks are racist, compared to 15 percent and 18 percent regarding whites and Hispanics, respectively, as racist. The report stipulated that the respondents were asked about ethnic groups in America, not around the world. Break down the survey by ideology, however, and the numbers are radically different. About 49 percent of conservative Americans consider blacks the most racist ethnic group, while 12 percent regard whites the most racist. And about 27 percent of liberal Americans saw whites as the most racist, and 21 percent, blacks. By political party: 49 percent of Republicans say blacks are the most racist; 29 percent of Democrats agree; and so do 36 percent of “unaffiliated” respondents. Rasmussen said: “Among black Americans, 31 percent think most blacks are racist, while 24 percent consider most whites racist and 15 percent view most Hispanics that way. Among white adults, 10 percent think most white Americans are racist, 38 percent believe most blacks are racist and 17 percent say most Hispanics are racist.” In general, only 30 percent of all Americans believe race relations in the United States are good or excellent, the survey found. For Discussion: North Carolina Legislation Threatens To Close The Majority Of Abortion Clinics In The State…Do You Think This Is Extreme?
This is ridiculous. Legislation Attacks Abortion According to Raw Story Legislation to ban Islamic law in North Carolina now also contains a number of anti-abortion measures, potentially closing all but one abortion clinic in the state. “This attempted sneak attack on women’s reproductive rights is absolutely shameful,” Sarah Preston of the American Civil Liberties Union of North Carolina said Tuesday. “Issues as vital and personal as access to comprehensive health care and doctor-patient relationships deserve to be debated in an open, public process – not hastily pushed through without notice and under the cover of night during a holiday week.” House Bill 695 originally sought to prohibit courts from using Sharia and other foreign laws in family law proceedings. The North Carolina Senate Judiciary committee on Tuesday unexpectedly tacked on six anti-abortion measures late in the afternoon and sent the bill to the Senate floor for a vote. U.S. Senator Kay Hagan (D-NC) said she was “appalled” by Republicans’ attempt to use “procedural tricks” to ram the anti-abortion measures through the state Senate. The legislation would now allow any health care provider to opt out of providing abortion-related services, prohibit health plans offered through federal health care exchanges from offering abortion coverage, outlaw sex-selection abortions, require doctors to stay in the room during the entire abortion procedure, force abortion clinics to obtain patient-transfer agreements with local hospitals, and mandate that abortion clinics meet the same stringent standards as outpatient surgical centers. “These loathsome restrictions and the deceitful method through which the Senate tried to pass them are an obvious effort to not simply prevent women in North Carolina from having comprehensive access to much-needed health care, but to not even give them an opportunity to weigh in on legislation that will have wide-ranging impacts on women and doctors all across our state,” Preston added. Sen. Warren Daniel (R-Morganton) told the News & Observer that abortion clinics should be regulated the same way as surgical centers. Just one clinic in the state currently meets that standard, which includes regulations on corridor widths and room sizes, among many others. “The politicians who responsible for this backdoor maneuvering have taken seriously the rising tide of activists gathering weekly outside the General Assembly to oppose anti-choice legislation. Unfortunately, the lesson they’ve taken is that the best way to accomplish their goals is to hide their maneuvers from the public,” said Suzanne Buckley of NARAL Pro-Choice North Carolina. Was BET wrong for booting B.Scott from the red carpet? BET Apologizes To Androgynous Media Personality B.Scott BET is apologizing to a fashion blogger who says it made him tone down his feminine look to appear on the network’s pre-awards show. The network called the incident with B. Scott, which took place before Sunday’s BET Awards, a “miscommunication.” On his blog Monday, Scott, who is openly gay, said he was told to change his outfit — a flowing black tunic and black pants — to a more conservative suit. He also said he was asked to pull his long black hair back in a ponytail and not to wear heels. He did appear on the show, which aired just before the awards, wearing a suit with no shirt, makeup and his hair pulled back. Scott said he was hurt and embarrassed by the situation. It’s not just about the fact that BET forced me to pull my hair back, asked me to take off my makeup, made me changed my clothes and prevented me from wearing a heel,” he wrote. “It’s more so that from the mentality and environment created by BET made me feel less than and that something was wrong with who I am as a person.” BET was regretful of the incident in a Monday statement to The Associated Press. “BET Networks embraces global diversity in all its forms and seeks to maintain an inclusive workforce and a culture that values all perspectives and backgrounds,” the statement read. “The incident with B. Scott was a singular one with a series of unfortunate miscommunications from both parties. We regret any unintentional offense to B. Scott and anyone within the LGBT community and we seek to continue embracing all gender expressions.” Messages left Monday seeking comment from B. Scott were not immediately returned. Why did they have him on the show knowing how he dresses and acts? BET needs to do better!

Now, Robson has alleged that Jackson “coached” him “every day” to provide certain statements against claims of molestation, beginning with the Jordy Chandler case in September 1993. “He would tell me that our phones were tapped and ‘they’ were listening to everything we said,” Robson said of private conversations with Jackson. “He would role play with me and say to me, ‘They are saying we did all of this disgusting sexual stuff. We never did any of that, right?’ I would play along and answer, ‘No way!’ He would say, ‘If they believed that we did any of this sexual stuff, YOU AND I would go to jail for the rest of our lives. Our lives and careers would be over. We’ve got to fight this. We’ve got to beat them together.” Jackson selected, hired and paid for the lawyer who represented Robson in relation to his testimony to the grand jury in the Chandler case, it was also revealed. IT Worker Fired From His Job For Offering Muslim Co-Worker A Bacon Sandwich An IT worker from Manchester, England says he was just joking when he offered bacon sandwiches to his co-workers during a meeting where one of the attendees present was Muslim, but his employer wasn’t convinced and he ended up jobless. via AOL Jobs Clive Hunt, a 58-year old IT consultant in Manchester, England, confronted this question head on earlier this month, when he offered to pick up “bacon sandwiches” during a meeting with a new client. That reportedly offended a Muslim co-worker – and soon after, Hunt says he was told he lost the job. According to a report in the Manchester Evening News, Hunt says a manager told him the decision was made because of his “racist remark.” Hunt says he was in a meeting at a Manchester office of the Reed recruitment company to discuss an eight-month contract worth £32,000 (or $50,000) to work with the British National Health Service (NHS). And during the meeting, Hunt offered to pick up “bacon sandwiches,” which as the Examiner points out, is “standard English breakfast fare.” He didn’t know that a colleague in the meeting, Sharika Sacranie, 29, was an observant Muslim, forbidden from eating pig products. Hunt says he didn’t intend to offend anyone. “I’d never met [Sacranie] before,” he told the Daily Mail, adding “we got on fine.” But after the meeting, Hunt says he received the call telling him his services were no longer needed due to his “racist” remark — an allegation Hunt disputes. “There was no slur at her because I’d already met all the contractors on site before and one of them had actually told me they had really good bacon sandwiches.” Hmmmm. That guy may have deserved that azz whooping … Scottie Pippen Harassed By Fan Before Fight Via NY Daily News reports: Retired hoopster Scottie Pippen was playing defense Monday after an encounter over the weekend with an autograph-seeker outside a Malibu, Calif. hot spot. The former Chicago Bulls standout visited a sheriff’s station voluntarily after he was named as a suspect in a Sunday evening altercation at Nobu, a trendy beachside eatery. Investigators said a violent argument broke out after an autograph-seeker took photos of Pippen, 47, and his family. The unidentified man was later taken to a hospital with a head injury, investigators said. But a source said Pippen was the real victim. The fan started the tussle, spit on the ex-athlete and screamed the called him the N-word, the source said, adding that Pippen was holding his 4-year-old daughter at the time. “Can you imagine, you’re out to dinner with your wife, your four kids and your mother-in-law, and someone calls you the N-word and starts to get physical?” the source said, calling the alleged victim’s story a “crock.” “When Scottie left, this guy had no injuries,” said the source. “Scottie is very upset about the way this has been portrayed.” Several witnesses described the fan as intoxicated, sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said. Investigators were still interviewing witnesses Monday and had not yet decided whether to charge Pippen with assault with intent to cause bodily harm. He was released after an hour of questioning. Pippen’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, was mulling a counter claim against the autograph-seeker for assault and making a false police report, the source said. Even without the n-word and spitting, the guy needed to be put down for harassment of this man while he’s holding his 4 year old daughter.
