145-Year-Old Man Claiming To Be World’s Oldest Human Ready To Die An Indonesian man claiming to be the world’s oldest human is just ready to die reports Independent UK : The world’s oldest man has been named as Indonesian Mbah Gotho, who is 145 years old, with documentation that says he was born in 1870. Mr Gotho said he began preparing for his death in 1992, even having a gravestone made, but 24 years later he is still alive. He has now outlived all 10 of his siblings, his four wives and his children. Though his age is impressive, Mr Gotho told a regional news network: “What I want is to die.” For the past three months he has needed to bathed and spoon-fed, and is becoming increasingly frail. Mr Gotho has official documentation which shows his age, and the Indonesian records office says it has confirmed his birth date as December 31 1870. If this is correct, this would earn him the title of the oldest person ever, a title currently held by French centenarian Jeanne Calment, who was 122 when she died – 23 years younger than Mr Gotho. Lawd, let this man just die in peace! YT

Ashley Graham Waited Until Marriage To Have Sex With Husband For “Respect” ‘Round these parts, we’re big fans of Ashley Graham . The curvy thick-thigh model is fully capable of bringing a smile to faces of both men and women , but she recently said something in ELLE Canada that made us rub our chins. While talking about how she met her swirly cinematographer hus-bae-nd, Justin Ervin, she revealed several things that may be up for discussion between many women… Your husband, Justin Ervin, was actually hanging out on-set with us today. You guys got married when you were 22, right? “I was a baby! But in Nebraska, everybody is married by 22. By the time we met, I’d been travelling the world by myself [for modelling] since I was 12. I had also dated half of New York City. In other words, I had seen and done, like, a lot. And then all of a sudden I met this hot guy at church.” What attracted you to him? “He was different. He was consistent. He was kind. He challenged me. Also, his six-pack. We actually got married right after my Lane Bryant commercial was banned. He knows the ins and the outs of how I’ve gone from that to this. He’s just like, ‘Go, baby, go!’ I know I’m with a man who loves and respects me, not ‘The Ashley Graham.’” Are those two different people? What happens when we leave and you’re alone in this room? Who are you then? “I’m not that different, but I do like my quiet time. After a day of having people talk to you, touch you and give you direction, you reach a point when you say ‘Okay, time to recharge.’ I try to have 15 minutes of prayer before I go out into the world.” Speaking of prayer, what do you believe in? “I believe that what goes around comes around. That kindness gets you further than anything else. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. When I was growing up, my parents always told me ‘Don’t have sex until you’re married,’ so I was like, ‘Okay, I’m going to go out and have a ton of sex.’ But then an ex-boyfriend made me realize that I need to respect my body and I need to have a man respect my body. It’s not for everybody, but, in order for that to happen for me, I needed to not have sex [again] until I was married. My husband and I waited; call me crazy, but it worked. Our sex is amazing! [Signature Ashley Graham laugh] It made me feel like I had the power back in my dating life. He respected me more because I wasn’t willing to just give it up. I tell my friends to wait three months. Just see if he can wait. If he can, he’s a good guy. And, again, it’s not for everybody, but for me it was great. It’s something I’m actually really proud of.” So not only did Ashley wait until marriage to have sex with her husband, despite not waiting with other men, but a man convinced her that the way she was behaving was not respectful to her body. We can practically hear some of you typing vehement disagreements to this train of thought as we type this post. What do YOU think of Ashley’s comments about abstinence and men preaching to women about how to “respect” themselves? “She reads the books I give her…”— Nate Parker Nate Parker Defends Being Married To A Non-Black Woman Embattled director Nate Parker recently addressed criticism he’s received for being married to his wife. The “Birth Of A Nation” director who’s fielding serious condemnation after his 1999 rape acquittal case resurfaced , made a point to defend his marriage at a movie screening. Just a few days ago, Parker addressed a crowd full of media and made sure to note that while he loves his wife of nearly a decade, Sarah DiSanto , he “loves ‘yall too.” Furthermore he keeps Sarah informed by having her read books in between her raising his four black daughters. MadameNoire.com: While speaking after a screening of The Birth of a Nation at The Merge Summit in Hollywood this week, Parker responded to that particular criticism in a conversation with interviewer Jawn Murray . “My wife is not African American,” Parker said. “I met my wife in college when I was 18 or 19. Nineteen? When I was 19. I fell in love with her. We’ve been together off and on since then. We got married nine years ago, August 10.” Parker continued, noting that while his wife isn’t Black, she cares about the community and is, of course, raising Black children. “She’s the love of my life. She’s not of African descent but she reads the books that I give her. She knows that she’s raising Black kids. I say that to say that I know I came under criticism for that and not that I have to speak to it. But I want everyone that can hear my voice to know that I love my wife but I love ya’ll, too.” What do YOU think about Nate’s defense of his marriage??? He can be woke and married to someone who isn’t black, right??? WENN, Instagram
HBCUs Welcome Record-Breaking Freshman Class Enrollment To Campus This Fall According to HBCU Digest enrollment at the historically Black colleges are on the rise! What does an increase in enrollment mean exactly? For some, it means increased interest in a campus or its degree offerings. But for black colleges, a boost in students could make the difference in a stabilized or downgrade in bond rating, the fine line between hiring or laying off staff, the slim margin between operating on revenue instead of a line of credit, or having full accreditation status versus warning or probation for financial struggles. Central State University CSU welcomed 634 new first-time students this fall, a 22 percent increase from 2015. The enrollment jump coincides with the university’s new initiative to reduce out-of-state surcharges for students from neighboring states by 76 percent. Harris-Stowe State University The Hornets welcomed their largest freshman class in school history, with more than 600 students contributing to a two-year, 50 percent total increase in enrollment. North Carolina Central University The NCCU Campus Echo reports on the school’s increase in students, with focus on the school following a national trend of more women enrolling in college than men. Virginia State University Trojan Land welcomes nearly 1,000 freshman to campus this fall, a 30 percent increase from last year’s class. Shaw University Shaw increased it freshman class to more than 600 students, the largest in six years and part of a reversal of five consecutive years of declining enrollment. Drake Might Be Prepping Something Classy For The Texas Folk After releasing the “ Child’s Play” video earlier today, Drake has even more in store for his fans. The Canadian emcee posted a new photo on Instagram to publicize an event going down on Labor Day. The event, titled “Drake Presents: A New Dance Experience,” is scheduled for September 5th from 1opm to 2am. The caption reads: “HOUSTON TEXAS…On September 5th we are giving you a chance to experience something that’s here to stay…THE BALLET…10pm -.” via XXL These days it feels like Drake spends as much time touring as he does posting cryptic messages for fans. The latest entry into the Toronto rapper’s series of mysteries is a poster describing an event set to take place in Houston on Monday (Sept. 5). The first line on the poster reads, “DRAKE PRESENTS A NEW DANCE EXPERIENCE … The Ballet.” Under those words are the date and time for the mysterious event. The caption for Drizzy’s latest Instagram post reads, “HOUSTON TEXAS … On September 5th we are give you a chance to experience something that’s here to stay … THE BALLET … 10 pm.” At this point, it’s safe to say Drake is up to something, or some things. “The Ballet” could be anything from a new video to a song premiere. Whatever this poster is about, we’ll most likely see for ourselves when Monday arrives. Drizzy’s new Instagram post comes just a few days after his latest billboard. This one features an image of his father and a reference to his new whiskey brand, Virginia Black. The “Know Yourself” rapper hasn’t explained any of his billboards, but we think it’s somewhat safe to conclude his newest one is a sort of advertisement. What we’re still really interested in getting to the bottom of is the one featuring the G.O.O.D. Music logo and the OVO owl. About a week ago, a billboard bearing the words “calabasas is the new abu dhabi,” appeared, and plenty of people think it’s a sign that a Drizzy-Kanye West album is coming soon. Of course, Kanye teased a joint project at the OVO rapper’s OVO Fest back in July. “Toronto I got one question for you. Is y’all ready for this album?” Yeezy said to the crowd while motioning toward himself and Drizzy. “I’m not talking about Pablo. I wasn’t talking about Views. I wanna ask y’all right now, are y’all ready for this album?” The mysterious event leaves just enough room for fun and interpretation. I was thinking strip club shenanigans, after all, it IS Houston on a holiday weekend, but hit the comments below and tell me what you think Drake has planned.
Kanye West’s “Season 4” Casting Call Asks For “Multiracial” Women Only Here we thought that Labor Day weekend was gonna be filled with barbecue , momma’s potato salad, a few drinks, family and friends. Nope. Kanye West just hit “tweet” on this doozy of a casting call and we can already tell that all hell 140-character hell is about to break loose… pic.twitter.com/o8sB124An3 — KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) September 3, 2016 Historically, casting calls are notoriously biased. The person doing the casting is looking for something very specific and that often leaves a lot of people (see, black or darker skinned) with no real shot to land the gig. Hell, sometimes the casting call will forego the coded language and get right down to the nitty-gritty, like Straight Outta Compton . Being that many believe Mr. West’s perceived history with colorism is sordid at best, the cynicism surrounding his casting requirements is Wiz Khalifa high… I LOVE KANYE BUT THIS IS SO PROBLEMATIC LIKE WTF — ️️️️ (@caringarianas) September 3, 2016 Then there are others who think Kanye is just trying to gently weed out white girls without hurting their feelings… i'm hoping what kanye saying with the “we only want multiracial women” part is just a nice way of him saying no white chicks — Ahmed/Zaywop Stan (@big_business_) September 3, 2016 It should be noted that there were multiple darker-skinned models in Kanye’s past fashion shows who may not have been “multiracial”. Guess we’ll all just have to wait and see what shakes, but one thing’s for certain, two is for sure, Twitter is gonna be an ugly place for Kim Kardashian’s husband over the next 48 hours or so. What do you think of Kanye’s casting call? Does he deserve the benefit of the doubt in regards to his “multiracial” intentions? “I cannot take this lightly…”— Gabrielle Union Gabrielle Union Speaks On Nate Parker Rape Allegations As the premiere date for “Birth Of A Nation” looms near more and more actors are speaking out on its embattled director Nate Parker. Gabrielle Union who stars in the film, recently penned a piece about her harrowing story of sexual assault and admitted that the rape allegations made against Parker have left her confused. “Since Nate Parker’s story was revealed to me, I have found myself in a state of stomach-churning confusion,” wrote Union. Via The L.A. Times: Twenty-four years ago I was raped at gunpoint in the cold, dark backroom of the Payless shoe store where I was then working. Two years ago I signed on to a brilliant script called “The Birth of a Nation,” to play a woman who was raped. One month ago I was sent a story about Nate Parker, the very talented writer, director and star of this film. Seventeen years ago Nate Parker was accused and acquitted of sexual assault. Four years ago the woman who accused him committed suicide. […] Since Nate Parker’s story was revealed to me, I have found myself in a state of stomach-churning confusion. I took this role because I related to the experience. I also wanted to give a voice to my character, who remains silent throughout the film. In her silence, she represents countless black women who have been and continue to be violated. Women without a voice, without power. Women in general. But black women in particular. I knew I could walk out of our movie and speak to the audience about what it feels like to be a survivor. According to Gabby, she doesn’t take the allegations lightly and she questions whether Parker really did have his date’s consent. Furthermore the story has sparked a new conversation between her and the sons she shares with Dwyane Wade. “We are making an effort to teach our sons about affirmative consent,” wrote Union. “As important and ground-breaking as this film is, I cannot take these allegations lightly. On that night, 17-odd years ago, did Nate have his date’s consent? It’s very possible he thought he did. Yet by his own admission he did not have verbal affirmation; and even if she never said “no,” silence certainly does not equal “yes.” Although it’s often difficult to read and understand body language, the fact that some individuals interpret the absence of a “no” as a “yes” is problematic at least, criminal at worst. That’s why education on this issue is so vital. As a black woman raising brilliant, handsome, talented young black men, I am cognizant of my responsibility to them and their future. My husband and I stress the importance of their having to walk an even straighter line than their white counterparts. A lesson that is heartbreaking and infuriating, but mandatory in the world we live in. We have spent countless hours focused on manners, education, the perils of drugs. We teach them about stranger-danger and making good choices. But recently I’ve become aware that we must speak to our children about boundaries between the sexes. And what it means to not be a danger to someone else. To that end, we are making an effort to teach our sons about affirmative consent. We explain that the onus is on them to explicitly ask if their partner consents. And we tell them that a shrug or a smile or a sigh won’t suffice. They have to hear “yes.” Before ending her piece, Gabby also made sure to note that she’s not sure what really happened the night that fateful night. “Regardless of what I think may have happened that night 17 years ago, after reading all 700 pages of the trial transcript, I still don’t actually know. Nor does anyone who was not in that room. But I believe that the film is an opportunity to inform and educate so that these situations cease to occur on college campuses, in dorm rooms, in fraternities, in apartments or anywhere else young people get together to socialize.” Read Gabby’s Nate Parker op-ed in full HERE. People have wondered for weeks if Gabby would speak out considering that she’s a sexual assault survivor. What do YOU think about what she said?? Matt Sayles/Invision/AP
