Jane Doe Said She Was In Shock And A State Of Denial Depending on where you stand, some new information about the Derrick Rose case either looks really good or really terrible. TMZ found a police report Jane Doe filed after the incident where it’s alleged Derrick Rose and his friends gang raped the young lady. The problem? The police report wasn’t filed until two YEARS afterward. Granted, it’s not unusual for women who’ve been raped to take a while to walk through the legal procedures. Unfortunately, some might look at this as a ploy for that young lady to try and get one over on the former Chicago Bulls player. via TMZ The accuser in the Derrick Rose rape case filed a police report with the LAPD two years after the alleged incident … after she had already sued the NBA star in civil court … TMZ Sports has learned. We broke the story … a woman identified as Jane Doe is suing Rose for more than $20 MILLION, claiming he and friends gang raped her in 2013 after a night of partying. The obvious question … why didn’t she go straight to police? We asked her attorney, Brandon Anand, who says there’s a perfectly logical explanation. “She was scared and didn’t know what happened. She was in a state of shock and denial.” Doe filed her lawsuit in August 2015. Law enforcement sources confirm she filed her police report AFTER she filed her lawsuit. Anand says he can explain that too … the statute of limitations on civil suits was winding down and they wanted to file the lawsuit before time ran out. After that, they filed the police report. We’re told Doe tried to reach a settlement with Rose before she took legal action — “but [Rose] didn’t acknowledge any wrongdoing,” so she decided to get the authorities involved. The civil trial is set to begin in October. The criminal investigation is ongoing. We reached out to Rose for comment. So far, no word back. What do you make of this new information? In your eyes, does it make her less or more credible?

Brandon Marshall Pledges To Donate $300 For Every Tackle Yesterday, we reported that 49ers QB Colin Kaerpernick blasted brands who dropped NFL baller Brandon Marshall for kneeling during the National Anthem. Brandon now says he has no regrets in taking a stance against police brutality and inequality reports Denver Post : I don’t regret anything I’ve done. This process has made me rethink things, too, and now I know that I have the power to effect change, not only locally but also nationally. I will donate $300 for every tackle. Every single tackle. I’m compiling the list of local organizations and programs that I will donate to. Denver Police Chief Robert White suggested some during our meeting Tuesday. But I’m going to take my time to find the right organizations, because I want to make sure it gets into the right hands. I want to do this right. One person can make a change. Colin Kaepernick started the fire, and I believe it takes other people’s participation to keep it burning. Discuss.

Muslim Family Beaten And Raped After Accused Of Eating Meat A 20-year-old Muslim woman claims that she and her 14-year-old cousin were gang raped and two relatives murdered, after being accused of consuming beef reports BBC : The woman, 20, told the BBC that four men carried out the attack in northern Haryana state two weeks ago. She denied consuming beef. She said the men beat her uncle and aunt to death in their home in Mewat. Many Hindus consider cows sacred and the slaughter of the animal is banned in several states, including Haryana. The suspects have been arrested and charged with rape and murder. However police have told reporters that there is no evidence to suggest that cow protection groups were involved in the attack. Although the alleged rape took place two weeks ago, news of the incident has only just come out. “They [the accused men] said that we ate cow meat and that is why we were being disgraced [raped]. They even threatened to kill me and my family if we ever told anybody what happened to us,” the woman told BBC Urdu. Iman Shumpert Arrested For DUI Marijuana Possession After Leaving Homegirl’s House Iman Shumpert was popped back in August for DUI marijuana possession after leaving his “homegirl’s house” in Atlanta according to TMZ : According to the police report, Shumpert was pulled over outside of Atlanta on August 10th around 11:37 PM for a lane change violation and because his taillights weren’t on in his rented Audi A3. During the stop, the officer says Shumpert reeked of weed — and his eyes were bloodshot. Shumpert told the cop he had just come from his “homegirl’s house” and was going to pick up his father from the airport. The cop administered a field sobriety test and determined Shumpert was high. Shumpert also admitted he had smoked weed before leaving his friend’s house. Cops searched the car and found a mason jar with marijuana. Cops wanted to perform a blood test on Shumpert but he refused — claiming, “people would recognize him and it would cause a scene.” Shumpert was handcuffed and arrested for DUI marijuana and possession of weed (less than an ounce). He was also cited for failure to maintain his lane. The Cavaliers issued this official statement: “A court date has not been set at this point, and neither Iman or the team will have any additional comments while the matter progresses through the legal process.” Continue reading →

Fox Gets New Superhero Drama Black Lightning A brand new Black superhero series could be coming to a TV near you The Hollywood Reporter : The project hails from Warner Bros TV., where Berlanti and the Akils are under overall deals.Fox may soon be adding another DC Comics character to its roster. The network has given a pilot production commitment to Black Lightning, the black superhero drama from prolific superhero series producer Greg Berlanti, and The Game’s Salim and Mara Brock Akil, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. One of DC Comics’ first major African-American superheroes, Black Lightning was created by Tony Isabella and Trevor Von Eeden and debuted in 1977. The hourlong drama will center on Jefferson Pierce, who hung up his suit and his secret identity years ago. However, with a daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning. The Akils will write and exec produce the project with Berlanti and his producing partner Sarah Schechter. Their respective banners, Akil Productions and Berlanti Productions, will produce in association with Warner Bros. TV. Should Black Lightning be picked up, it would be one of the first broadcast series to feature an African-American superhero as its lead.
