I love being with them and talking to them about all things important. When I’m there I’m talking from the time I get up till I go to bed, about EVERYTHING teenage girls are going through. It’s the same all over the world.” Oprah revealed that she would be returning this fall to teach a class called ‘It’s Life 101′ about all the stuff she wished someone had told her about how the world really works. “Should be fun since I love to teach. And they’re like sponges,” Oprah said. “Like 12th graders everywhere, this first class is both anxious and excited about going to college. Most will be the first in their family. So it’s a very big deal for them, and they’re feeling the pressure.” Adding that there is nothing like leaving the USA to get a deeper appreciation of the freedoms we sometimes take for granted. Speaking at a fund-raiser for the Democratic National Committee in Massachusetts she told of his total dedication to the job and told how she worries about the increasing number of lines on his face She said: ‘I see the worry creasing his face. I hear the passion and determination in his voice. ‘You won’t believe what these folks are going through;’ he told me that last night. “‘Michelle, it is not right. We’ve got to fix this. We have to do more,’”‘Barack always reminds me that we are playing a long game.’ He reminds me, as I said to you, too, that change is slow.’He reminds me that change doesn’t happen all at once, but that if we keep showing up, if we keep fighting the good fight, doing what we know is right, then eventually we will get there, because the truth is we always have in this country. Payton mailed her plea to entertainment-industry honchos and to the White House, where Obama read it in early May. A parent’s number one job is to love their child unconditionally; and, for most of us, that comes easily. Difficulties come with figuring out to how to best demonstrate our love and effectively communicate it to our children. Love is not an emotion but an action and children have to see their parent’s love at work. We are inclined to love our children in much the same way our parents loved us, good and bad. But, we only owe our seed the good as the goal is for every generation to get better. Love isn’t always gentle and it doesn’t always speak in a soft voice, but it is selfless and committed to generating positive outcomes. The act of love encompasses many things and it’s important to tackle areas of weakness individually. Have you ever sat and listened to the conversations some young black girls are having on the subway, or at the bus station? What about those that cause all types of hell in McDonalds or tell their business so loud the whole mall can hear them? In the morning when I make my daily trek from Harlem to Brooklyn on the A train I’m confronted with “b*tch this/b*tch that,” n***a this/n***a that” and for the record I’m not talking about the young boys on the train (who are just as guilty), I’m talking about our young sisters. Some of the most disturbing conversations I’ve heard on the street were from young women.
