Wow: Bronx Mom Slashes Throats Of Her Two Children In The Street, Begs Police To Arrest Her

Source: Peter Dazeley / Getty Mother Slits Kids Throats In Street Then Surrenders At Police Station A mom is accused of slitting the throats of her two young children with a razor and leaving them bleeding on a Bronx street corner according to NY Daily News reports. Shanice Martin allegedly slashed the necks of her two children — a 2-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy —  around 8:20 p.m. Saturday on a street corner cops said. Panicked pedestrians saw the wounded children and flagged down a passing police cruiser, which rushed them to Lincoln Hospital. The children’s throats were cut “from ear to ear” police sources said. Her kids are expected to survive. Covered in blood, Martin, 24, showed up a few minutes after the attack two blocks away at the 42nd Precinct stationhouse, where she handed them the razor she used and surrendered. “Go ahead and arrest me,” the woman said as she handed the blood-soaked blade over, sources said. Cops charged her with assault, child abandoment, endangering the welfare of a child, and weapon possession. She is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation. Shanice Martin’s brother Travone Lango said his sister was estranged from the family and may have just “snapped.” “She used to take medicine in the past. She never used to act like that. She was probably under a lot of pressure.” Lango’s mother is taking care of Martin’s two wounded children, her brother said. “I feel bad for them,” he said of his nephew and niece. “I hope they’re OK.”

Humble Harvardite: Aoki Lee Simmons Credits Mom Kimora For Teaching Her An Extra Hard Lesson On Humility

Source: Rob Rich/ WENN / WENN Aoki Lee Simmons Admits She Let Harvard Acceptance Get To Her Head Just a few weeks ago we were congratulating Aoki Lee Simmons for being admitted to Harvard, but it appears that she allowed her new Ivy League status to go to her head. Earlier this week Aoki posted an essay on humility, revealing her mother had to take her down a notch because her big brains were giving her a HUGE head…. View this post on Instagram A short essay on humility, for someone trying their best to have some #spreadkindness (make sure you swipe cause if you don’t the essay makes no sense ) Love yourself, admit your mistakes, and grow like the awesome tree you are! #reflect #foodforthought A post shared by Aoki Lee Simmons (@aokileesimmons) on Apr 30, 2019 at 9:37pm PDT “I was more Harvard than John Harvard himself,” Aoki recalls, “and I was excited out of my mind, I was dabbing, I was whipping, I was Milly rocking, I was singing the fresh prince theme song….. Until my mom took me down a peg with lecture on humility, being a braggart and attracting the evil eye. My reaction was horrendous to ay the least, I pouted, I teared up, I accused her of being jealous, I accused her of not understanding how the college process works (hint: she totally did since she supported me and my sister through it and went to a fantastic college herself). I went off to my room to rage about how my mom ruins everything and kills my vibes and all those other teen complaints. I called my Dad to complain about how unfair my mom was being, and he told me he’d been wanting to say what she said for months. Which shocked me because I usually count on my Dad to be on my side, so hearing that confirmed the worst, my mom might be right. So then I started crying, really really hard.” Sounds a wee bit spoiled brattish — but at least she’s admitting she was wrong. We also loved that Aoki opened up about being disappointed about being deferred at Yale. We think it’s so great that Aoki realized the error of her ways AND that her mother kept it real with her. There are far too many insufferable little privileged princesses running around Beverly Hills whose mothers encourage that behavior. It’s a great picture of the kind of mom Kimora is riiiight?! When is the last time you needed a friend or family member to help you stay grounded?

Oprah Talks “Leaving Neverland” Hateration, Chucking The Deuces To “60 Minutes” And Helping Bestie Gayle Get Her Shmoney Honey!

Source: Ruven Afanador / The Hollywood Reporter / Ruven Afanador / The Hollywood Reporter Oprah Winfrey Talks About Backlash Over “Leaving Neverland” And Leaving Acting The Queen of Media Oprah Winfrey is the subject of an in-depth interview for the cover of The Hollywood Reporter’s first-ever Empowerment in Entertainment issue. Winfrey will receive the first-ever Empowerment Award at the accompanying Empowerment in Entertainment gala Tuesday (4/30) afternoon in Los Angeles. We absolutely LOVED this one — especially some gems she dropped about hateration, quitting acting AND “60 Minutes” and the current political climate. Check out some key excerpts via THR below: On advice she gave Gayle King on renewing her CBS News contract: I said, “Get what you want. Get exactly what you want because now’s the time. And if you don’t get what you want, then make the next right move.” Even without me, she was going to do that. But that was my advice, and I actually called up her lawyer, Allen Grubman, and I said, “Allen, she should get what she wants.” And Allen goes, “What the F do you think I’m doing here? I said the same thing to her!” The negotiation was already happening before her R. Kelly interview. On her reaction to the R. Kelly interview: I sent her a text saying, “Jesus looooves you.” But [the R. Kelly interview] could not have been better if I had done that myself. I think every interviewer thinks, “What would you have done in that moment?” And what she did was absolute perfection. On why she recently left 60 Minutes: I’ve removed myself from that. It was not the best format for me … How should I say this? Never a good thing when I have to practice saying my name and have to be told that I have too much emotion in my name…. I think I did seven takes on just my name because it was ‘too emotional.’ I go, ‘Is the too much emotion in the Oprah part or the Winfrey part?’ I was working on pulling myself down and flattening out my personality — which, for me, is actually not such a good thing. We love it. You’ve got to do what feels good and right for you and Oprah sends such a strong message by speaking openly about her decision to leave “60 Minutes” — of course she will have a great platform in the work she’s doing with Apple — so we’ll still get plenty of her journalistic side. Hit the flip for more great quotes.

Precautions: Pennsylvania Woman Creates ‘Not Reaching’ Pouch To Save Black Folks Who Get Pulled Over By Police

Source: WOLFRAM KASTL / Getty Woman Creates ‘Not Reaching’ Pouch For Black People Who Get Pulled Over By Police Unfortunately, we live in a time where you have to be extra careful living your daily life as a person of color — specifically a Black person. Pennsylvania mom Jackie Carter is on a mission to save Black lives by any means necessary, so she created the “Not Reaching” pouch; a small, clear identification pouch that can be attached to the driver’s side air vent of the vehicle. Woman Develops 'Not Reaching' Pouch to Save Black Lives During Traffic Stops. #PhilandoCastile https://t.co/a73CUJPOyu — Shomari Stone (@shomaristone) April 30, 2019 Three years ago when she first thought of the protective pouch, Carter was at home in Pennsylvania celebrating her son’s 30th birthday when she heard the news that 32-year-old Philando Castile, had been shot and killed by a police officer. She says she thought to herself that someone “has got to come up with a solution”, so she created the pouch, hoping would keep young men from reaching around their cars while looking for license and registration documents and setting off potentially dangerous interactions with the police. Carter told NBC News : “I’m more fearful [for my son] in a car here than [when he’s serving] in Afghanistan.” Meanwhile, a Washington, DC police officer noted: “Anything that you can’t see throws you into that red flag or heightened mode. But it should never lead you to just assume that they’re trying to kill you.” The pouch has sold more than 1,000 units since it launched three years ago, and Carter says she has given the product away to many drivers in her community. If we don’t look out for each other, than no one will. Thanks, Ms. Carter.
