The film will focus on Perry’s bombastic live performances, but there’s more to it, as well. Who is the lovely young woman behind the getups and catchy #1 hits? The documentary tells the story of Perry’s life, her rise to stardom, and her current status as one of the world’s most famous celebrities, beginning July 5. He has worked with its heavy hitters Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj and can now add Tyga to his roster of A-list collabos. The labelmates have teamed up for the seductively titled track “Sex 101” off Jay’s latest studio album, Worth It All. “One of the first things I noticed when I joined Cash Money was that they don’t work with just anyone, they really don’t,” the pop crooner told MTV News, expressing gratitude for the support he has received from his extended family. Before Nicki Minaj catapulted to stardom, she jumped on his song “2012,” as Wayne did with “Down,” the club banger that broke the U.K. artist into the U.S. market. It seems it was that communal energy that drew Jay Sean to Cash Money in the first place. “That family thing — working with people, talking to people, doing business with people that they can only vibe with is just how they operate,” he explained. “That’s why Baby [Cash Money co-founder Bryan Williams] will call me every other day just to check up on me and see how I’m doing.” Although he doesn’t want to be defined by his collaborations, working with Tyga was a natural fit for Jay. “Tyga’s the next to blow from Young Money. Everyone knows Tyga’s the next hot thing.” So it didn’t take much for him to hit up his longtime supporter and friend to appear on “Sex 101.” “I realized from an early stage how dope he was as an MC,” Jay said about the “Rack City” rapper. The R&B single is featured on Jay’s mixtape The Mistress and will be reproduced and reworked as a single and video off his forthcoming album, Worth It All . The proud parents of Dem Babies are hooking up for a spankin’-new endeavor that will focus on family. While the details of the venture are slim, Cannon shared that it will certainly pay homage to their year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe . “Yeah we actually got some stuff in development that we’re working on, some animated stuff that her and I are putting together,” he told MTV News. “So you’ll definitely see her in that space too. Oh yeah, it’s just something that we both enjoy, and even more so than that, we’re both kids at heart. So we love those types of stories and fantasy/fairytale type of stuff.” Before Cannon explores fairytales with Carey, he serves as the executive producer on the forthcoming Nickelodeon flick, “Rags,” a hip take on Cinderella, complete with gender role reversals. It features Nick stars Keke Palmer, Max Schneider and Drake Bell. The network chairman explains that you should expect more and more family-friendly programming influenced by his own real-life role as dad. “I mean it’s one of those things where a lot of the stuff I’m going to be doing in the near future is going to be really family-driven just because of the fact being a father and wanting to be able to provide content for my kids,” he said. “So it works out really good. It makes you proud when you can have some work that your kids can go see.” In addition to “Rags” and his untitled project with Carey, Cannon just signed on to make his directorial debut with “School Dance,” which will follow in the vein of “Friday” and “House Party.” Variety reports it will revolve around a teen who wants to join the coolest dance clique in school, though he fears his stage fright will prevent him from passing initiation. The Max Martin-produced banger finds Usher in familiar territory, singing the virtues of living for the moment — just as he did on 2010’s “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love,” which was also helmed by Martin. Critics have almost unanimously panned it , but all maintain that Minaj is an enormous talent whose album shifted focus away from her clear strength, rapping, to make way for more generic pop and dance tunes. The Barbz and Kenz make up one of the most fiercely loyal fanbases around, so Minaj isn’t losing love from them. Still, many are torn about the album. Some have proclaimed their love for the album, calling it “beyond great” and “fabulous.” @Craggleprice tweeted, “The album is amazing!! it’s got Rap, Pop, Dance and Ballads! best album! Drake and Lil Wayne Collabs r amazing! it all is!” Standout tracks among fans seem to be “Beautiful Sinner,” “Va Va Voom,” “Come on a Cone” and “Beez in the Trap.” Others stand by Minaj as an artist but are not into her latest work. @Rudy_Nelson wrote, “It’s horrible! and I’m a fan!” Minaj is also being compared to her pop contemporaries: As @Crucial416 commented, “It’s a great Rihanna album.
