Holy Week Or Big Ol’ Freak? Pope Francis Kisses And Washes The Feet Of A Dozen Young Juvies At Roman Detention Center

What’s wrong with this picture ? Many people across the world would say absolutely nothing, being that it’s Holy Week and Pope Francis is simply continuing the Holy Thursday ritual he’s been celebrating for years as archbishop before becoming pope. If you’re finding this hard to — uh, swallow, we can also tell you that the rite re-enacts Jesus’ washing the feet of his male disciples (and Mary Magdalene, if you believe that version of the story). Pope Francis didn’t discriminate — his kisses blessed the feet of two young women and ten young men. This lil precious face baby is probably glad she ran into the pope on Wednesday — before he started smooching thug footsies. Just in case you were wondering, the foot kissing Mass was held in the Casal del Marmo facility in Rome, where 46 young men and women currently are detained. According to AP reports, “many of them are Gypsies or North African migrants, and the Vatican said the 12 selected for the rite weren’t necessarily Catholic.” SMH. Guess they wanted folks to know they have “many” people of color behind bars. How many of y’all think Pope Francis was kissing lil African feet? L’Osservatore Romano (Vatican newspaper) /APImages

Madonna Renames Song "GIRL Gone Wild"; Joe Francis Claims Legal Victory

Madonna renamed her song “Girls Gone Wild” to “Girl Gone Wild” (singular) after a legal threat from underage-drunk-spring-break-girl-sleaze kingpin Joe Francis. Which she says didn’t impact her decision, at all. Still, the Girls Gone Wild mogul warned the star with a cease and desist letter not to sing her single of the same name at the halftime show. She didn’t. Then, the singer released the song off her upcoming MDNA album … with the “s” not only removed from the title and lyrics, but the lyrics as well. Listen: Madonna – Girl Gone Wild (Lyric Video) Francis tells E! that his legal team worked with Madonna’s people on it, and that changing “Girls Gone Wild” to “Girl Gone Wild” was just the start. “An immediate solution for them to thwart any injunctive relief,” he said. “Clearly her label was trying to avoid legal action surrounding the song.” “This is still infringement as far as the law is concerned. We have been in touch with Madonna’s representatives in an effort to resolve this issue.” According to Madonna’s manager, that’s total B.S. Guy Oseary tells TMZ that it’s laughable Francis claimed victory after allegedly sending Madonna a cease and desist letter, which Madge never got. As for Madonna changing the name of the song, Oseary says they decided to make “Girl” singular since that’s the way Madonna sings it in the song. Oseary says they tweaked other titles on the album as well, and scoffs at Joe Francis’ claim that he even owns the trademark to “Girls Gone Wild.” He cited a Billboard story that claims there are 50 records called “Girls Gone Wild,” including songs by Ludacris, Jagged Edge, T Mills, etc., etc. Finally, Oseary says Madonna doesn’t even know who Joe Francis is, let alone that he’s threatening her regarding her new album. So there.

Nicki Minaj A Not-So-New Best New Artist Nominee

J. Cole, Skrillex and Bon Iver have also been around for years before rookie Grammy nods. By Gil Kaufman Nicki Minaj Photo: Getty Images There are many reasons people love to bash the Grammys, but one of the most frequent punching bags is the Best New Artist category. Whether it goes to someone music fans have never heard of (2010’s Esperanza Spalding ), an act who’s been around forever (2001’s Shelby Lynne), or one that even at his or her peak seemed unworthy at best (notorious 1981 flash-in-the-pan Christopher Cross), Best New Artist is a perennial head-scratcher. By Recording Academy rules, the award is for a musician or band who releases an album during the year of eligibility that establishes their “public identity” as an artist. That doesn’t mean it’s their first album or that they suddenly appeared on the scene just that year, because, really, no act just materializes out of thin air and makes their way to the Grammys without years of unseen road, club and studio work. But a look at this year’s nominees is proof that in an age of mixtapes, YouTube, features and blog love such “new” acts as Bon Iver, Nicki Minaj, Skrillex and J. Cole are practically veterans by the time the Academy decides to shine its spotlight. In fact, of all this year’s nominees, only country trio the Band Perry are truly “new,” and they formed in 2005, then gigged around and dropped a few singles until their only full-length studio recording was released in late October of last year. Think Beyonc

Britney Spears ’30 Videos For 30 Years’ Winner Revealed!

Nearly 1 million votes were cast in the contest for MTV News’ tournament to crown the Best Britney Video of All Time. By Vaughn Trudeau Schoonmaker Britney Spears Photo: Jive Over the course of two weeks, nearly one million votes cast in MTV News’ Britney Spears Tournament: 30 Videos for 30 Years , and on Friday (December 2) — which also happens to be the pop superstar’s 30 birthday — we reached our final tally. You, the fans, decided the crown for the Best Britney Video of All Time is goes to … “I’m A Slave 4 U”! Released in September 2001, the Francis Lawrence-directed video is still as influential a pop music clip 10 years later. Britney performed the song for the first time at the ’01 MTV Video Music Awards, using a jungle-themed set filled with exotic animals, including a tiger and a now-iconic white boa constrictor snake, which she wrapped around her shoulders. “Slave” defeated the Chris Marrs Piliero-directed runner-up “Criminal” by a wide margin, with nearly 69 percent of the vote. “Criminal,” Britney’s most recent video from this year’s Femme Fatale release, made its way to the top two by beating out some of Britney’s best-loved videos, from “Stronger” to “I Wanna Go” to (in a shocking defeat) her debut video “… Baby One More Time.” We want to know what you think of “Slave” winning it all in our 30 Videos for 30 Years tournament. Sound off in the comments section and send your birthday wishes to Britney! Related Videos Britney Spears: 30 Videos For 30 Years Related Artists Britney Spears
