Black Stuntmen’s Association Said Freedom Fighter William Robison Deserves Recognition Before the Civil Rights and Black Lives Matter movements, an African-American stagecoach driver for Wells Fargo risked life and limb to defend his people. Former slave William Robison was a miner, pioneer and freedom fighter who worked to desegregate California schools and was part of the 1856 state Convention of Colored Citizens that used petitions to allow blacks to testify in court. He even joined an armed gang that freed a group of illegally apprehended slaves in San Joaquin County, Calif, according to Wells Fargo. Besides his work in advancing civil rights, Robison’s day job was driving a Wells Fargo stagecoach between Stockton, Calif. and the Nevada gold mines. He drove the six-horse stagecoach for 40 years before retiring in 1895. The Black Stuntmen’s Association spent the last two years lobbying Wells Fargo to commemorate Robison with a commercial featuring an African-American stagecoach driver – even submitting a script – but they said the multi-national corporation has given them the runaround, association president Willie Harris told BOSSIP. “We tried to get Wells Fargo to let us do the commercial, and use a black in their commercial. They refused,” said Harris, 73, who helped create the Black Stuntmen’s Association in 1967 to challenge racism in Hollywood. “Why can’t you do a commercial with a black stagecoach driver? What’s wrong with letting a black kid know about their history?” When the black stuntmen’s group told Wells Fargo that it had members who could drive a “six-up” or a six horse stagecoach, Harris said Wells Fargo execs told him they only do a few commercials each year and could not accept unsolicited ideas. Wells Fargo can obviously advertise in any way that it wants, but it could use the goodwill after it’s $175 million settlement with the U.S. Justice Department over its unfair lending practices to African-Americans and Latinos. Wells Fargo spokeswoman Valerie Williams told BOSSIP that although they’re not pursuing the black stuntmen’s proposal, they’ve honored Robison in their corporate history book, “Since 1852,” and Robeson’s story appears on their blog and in the company’s exhibit at the San Francisco museum. Williams said that the company is committed to sharing African-American’s stories from the past to the present, and supported the film “Red Tails,” about the Tuskegee Airmen as well as a nationwide black history tour. Nevertheless, Harris said Robison deserves to be recognized with his own commercial. “That’s why I’m not gonna let Wells Fargo off the hook,” he said.
Ben Carson Believes #BlackLivesMatters Is A Distraction Dividing America Good luck becoming POTUS with THIS kind of attitude… Via ThinkProgress Since the deaths of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Eric Garner in New York, Trayvon Martin in Florida, and countless others, “Black Lives Matter” has become a rallying call for a group of Americans unfairly targeted by police. Taking the message from protests to politicians, the movement has mounted pressure on 2016 presidential candidates to recognize the need for policies to address the disproportionate risk black Americans face of death in the hands of police. But not all candidates are receptive to that message. On Friday, Ben Carson, the only African American candidate from either party vying for the presidency, spoke at a conference organized by black conservative group Freedom’s Journal Institute (FJI) and titled “In Defense of Life: Why All Lives Matter.” Candidates on both the left and right have been criticized for their declaration of those words — “All Lives Matter” — diminishing the goals of the Black Lives Matter movement, which is asking people to recognize that black lives are devalued by our criminal justice system. Ben Carson, however, told ThinkProgress this week he sees the whole movement as divisive. “We need to talk about what the real issues are and not get caught up in silliness like this matters or that matters,” he said at a rally to defund Planned Parenthood Tuesday outside the U.S. Capitol, where protesters held signs reading “Unborn Lives Matter.” “Of course all lives matter. I don’t want to get into it, it’s so silly,” he continued, laughing to himself. “Black lives are part of all lives, right? When we’re talking about a culture of life, then we ought to be talking about a culture of life and not allow ourselves to get caught up in all the divisive rhetoric and terminology and political correctness. It’s the reason we can’t make any progress as a society.” Way to go “brotha” we appreciate you reppin’ for your people…SMFH Image via AP
Jessica Simpson posted this picture for the Fourth of July, mocking the American Troops who have died for your freedom, by being a relatively beefy girl in a bathing suit, pretending to do what they do…or maybe I am just looking too much into this attempt at being a modern pin-up thanks to having the body of girl big enough to have been considered hot during the Great Depression, mainly because at her size it meant she could afford more than just dirt and cockroaches for dinner…so fancy…where as in this generation it means..you can afford fast food…how the times have changed… The post Jessica Simpson’s Helicopter Photoshoot for AMerica of the Day appeared first on DrunkenStepfather .
Dear Bossip , I’m in a relationship right now that is completely struggling. I lived with my partner’s mother over a few years now. Recently, my mom got hurt and she had to go through a surgery. I packed all my things and went home. Me and my partner were having a lot of issues, probably more so because of the stress – I lost my job, my mom got hurt, and etc. I packed all my things and moved to live with my mom, however, he wants me to move back with him, but I’m considering staying at home. I love living with my family. All those years we were together I saw my mother less times than I can count on one hand, let alone my brother with whom I was extremely close to. Now that I am close to them all again I feel at home. At his mother’s house his brothers, sisters and even his mother would disrespect me and make me feel like I was worthless. He never demanded respect. I always had to defend myself even from him sometimes. Now that I have moved he cries and begs me to come back. This is the first time I actually left him. I’m debating on whether or not if I should go back. I need to be happy and I want to think he will change. He seems to understand where I’m coming from now, I would help. I can’t help that I really love this man, but I need to chase my happiness. I want the freedom and I want to be with him. If I return how should I set my boundaries? Should I believe him? Should I even consider returning? I’m at a loss right now. – To Return Or Not To Return Dear Ms. To Return Or Not To Return , Change? Really, he’s changed? Well, change is moving forward, out of, away from, or doing something different. Change is not doing the same thing again. Therefore, please explain how he has changed, yet, he is still living at home with his momma, and he wants you to come back to the same situation. How is that change? Change would have been him growing up, getting out of his momma’s house, getting a place for you and him, and being a man instead of a boy. Now, sweetie, that is change. Therefore, nope. You shouldn’t return. There is no need to set boundaries because you should not return. And, no, you should not believe anything he is telling you. Does he miss you? Sure, but, just know that he doesn’t respect you, and neither does his mother, brother and sisters. Oh, and by the way, why are you living with his momma in his momma’s house? You sound like a damn fool. You’re a grown ass woman living in another grown woman’s house with your grown ass man. The hell!?!?! Girl, stop. Look at your life. Look at his life. You’re two grown ass people living in his momma’s house, and none of his family members respects you or your relationship. And, he didn’t stand up for you or even come to your defense when his family was attacking you, yet, you’re considering moving back to the same ole bull-ish! Do you even hear you damn self? Though your mother got sick and needed surgery, and I’m sorry to hear about it and wish her well, but you should consider this a blessing in disguise. It is truly a blessing your mother’s surgery had to get you out of that situation, and back into an environment where people who genuinely love you, support you, and make you feel worthy, and they were at home waiting on you. They say the Lord works in mysterious ways, and when the Lord moves you and makes things happen in your life, especially to relieve you from a bad situation, baby, you should count it as a blessing. Since you’ve moved on from your boyfriend you state that you’re happy. You enjoy being with your family and you have rekindled your relationships with your mother and brother. You even stated that you need to continue to chase your freedom and happiness. So, were you happy living with your man and his momma, and his siblings? Did they make you feel wanted? Did they make you feel needed? Were you loved, nurtured, and supported? Did you have peace and joy? Look, you can hope, and wish all you want that he has changed, and that the situation at his momma’s house has changed, but it hasn’t. Things are still the same, and you will return to the same. Don’t go backward, move forward. Go after your happiness and freedom and leave them in their misery. Leave them in their hatred, and sadness. You don’t need that, and it will be very foolish of you to go back and relive that life once again. If you decide to stay with him, then, I do recommend that you don’t move back to his momma’s house. You and he need your own place, your own residence, and your own privacy. Just you and him. His mom and siblings should not have keys to your place. They cannot just show up and come over when they want. And, when they come into your home they have to show you respect and respect your relationship. Finally, don’t move with him unless he has half of the security deposit, and can afford to pay half the rent. If he can’t, then there is no need to live together or even consider moving in with one another. If you’re paying all the rent, and holding him down, and allowing him to stay with you, then you haven’t learned anything. He is still the same young, immature, little boy who wants a woman to take care of him like his momma. If he can’t handle his responsibilities, or live within these boundaries you set, then it’s time to move on and let him go. Love yourself. Love your life. And, continue to enjoy the happiness, love, and respect you are getting from those who have no problem showering you with the affection you deserve. – Terrance Dean Hey Bossip Fam, what do you think? Jeb Bush, Chris Christie And Rick Perry Avoid Talking Gun Control Or Race After Charleston Shooting It should come as little to no surprise that the Republican candidates for President are poorly equipped to deal with matters of race or gun violence. Via NY Daily News reports : Jeb Bush and Chris Christie mourned the murders in Charleston without blaming lax gun laws or discussing race Friday while addressing an audience of religious conservatives. And potential presidential candidate Rick Perry, the former Texas governor, referred to the murders as an “accident” — though his spokeswoman said he intended to say “incident.” Perry, in an interview with the conservative publication Newsmax, criticized President Obama and other liberals’ “”knee-jerk reaction of saying ‘if we can just take all the guns away this won’t happen.’” At the Faith & Freedom Coalition in Washington, Christie declared that the shootings were “depraved” and “unthinkable” before suggesting that tighter gun control could not have prevented the shootings. “Laws can’t change this, only the goodwill and the love of the American people can let those folks know that that act was unacceptable, disgraceful,” he said, calling on people to pray for the families of the dead. In his remarks, Bush said initially that he didn’t know what motivated Dylann Storm Roof. “”I don’t know what was on the mind or the heart of the man who committed these atrocious crimes,” Bush said, adding: “In times like these, in times of great national mourning, people of faith, all of us must come together.” He did not mention guns. Roof made it clear during his shooting spree on Wednesday that he was there to kill black people. In appearances Thursday at the convention, Sens. Marco Rubio, Rand Paul and Ted Cruz, other leading Republican presidential candidates, also avoided blaming guns. This is some BS… We can’t allow another Bush to set foot anywhere near the White House. And isn’t Rick Perry the one who used to vacation by the place with the N-Word nickname?

King, the legendary guitarist known as B.B. King, whose velvety voice and staccato-picking style brought blues from the margins to the mainstream, died Thursday night. He was 89. His daughter, Patty King, said he died in Las Vegas, where he announced two weeks ago that he was in home hospice care after suffering from dehydration. King’s enduring legacy came from his refusal to slow down even after cementing his status as an American music icon. Even with a long list of honors to his name — Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, Presidential Medal of Freedom — he maintained a relentless touring schedule well into his 80s. So sad. B.B. King was still booking stages thrilling audiences up until just a few weeks ago. He’ll truly be missed.
