Mbathio Beye has been crowned the first “Miss Black France” But there was a lot of hoopla surrounding the pageant, so we’re surprised it even took place. According to the pageant’s organizer Frédéric Royer, the goal of the event was to “celebrate black beauty,” and “to shine a light on the many Black women in this country who are rarely given any media attention.” Yet the last time woman of color to took home the “Miss France” title was only three years ago in 2009 when Chloé Mortaud won—a biracial woman of African American and French descent. Protesters have called the “Miss Black France” pageant “stupid,” “dangerous” and “hostile.” Even the founder and president of the French Representative Council of Black Associations (CRAN), Patrick Lozes, said the pageant is hardly “progressive.” But despite these strong sentiments the pageant commenced and crowned it’s queen. Beye was officially named the first “Miss Black France” Saturday night in Paris, after being selected from a pool of 1,000 applicants and ultimately competing amongst 17 other finalists. Beye, 21, hails from Senegal and is a marketing student. Damn, where is the love??? RedFoo and Sky Blu respond to New York Post report that they were at odds over money made from their chart-topping singles. LMFAO has fired back at a recent New York Post report that the Grammy-nominated duo were on the verge of a breakup over money made from their chart-topping singles. On Monday, the group released a video on RedFoo’s YouTube page rebutting all reports that the bandmates were hanging up their party hats. The clip starts off with Sky Blu, clad in a spiked bedazzled jacket, telling the audience, “Sky Blu Back! I feel good, man.” Soon after, he is joined by RedFoo, his uncle, who is holding a copy of Thursday’s New York Post . “You see the stuff they wrote in the New York Post ? The crazy stuff, let me read it to you,” Red Foo said. Yet, before he could read the report, Sky Blu grabs the paper and the two begin to fight for it. The two go back and forth until they join together dancing and shred the paper while proclaiming, “Every day we’re tusslin’, ” referring to “Party Rock Anthem” and the Post headline, “Duo: Every day I’m tusslin’.” They went on to promote their upcoming 26-date summer tour, Redfoo and Cherrytree Present: Sorry for Party Rocking Tour Featuring LMFAO and the Party Rock Crew and Special Guests, which kicks off May 22 in Columbus Ohio. Those special guests include Far East Movement , the Quest Crew, Sidney Samson, Eva Simons and Natalia Kills. The tour will mark the return of Sky Blu, who had suffered from a severe back injury, which forced him to miss some tour dates. Cole, Waka Flocka Flame, Meek Mill , 2 Chainz and French Montana seems like a no-brainer for any rapper looking to rule the summer touring season, Drake insists he didn’t choose the hottest young talent just because — there are genuine connections there. “I have very strong alliances with these guys that are on this tour with me,” Drake said during a conference call Tuesday (April 24). “I guess it’s safe to say now that anybody that I didn’t have a song with before, I have a song with now. I made sure of that.” For those keeping score, Drake and J. Cole partnered up on “In the Morning,” a warm-up single from the Roc Nation rookie’s 2011 debut album. French and Drizzy teamed up with Rick Ross, on Rozay’s “Stay Schemin’,” and Waka and the Take Care spitter leaked their strip-club ode “Round of Applause” last September. Drake hasn’t yet released music with Meek Mill or 2 Chainz; those collaborations will come in conjunction with the outdoor tour. “Along with this tour, fans are also going to get some exciting musical material that will probably end up dropping a few days before the tour, so that we can perform it on tour,” Drizzy said. For the Toronto MC, summertime is the best time for new music, and he designed this current amphitheater leg of Club Paradise to come at a time when he plans to release some fresh tunes. “I want to go out on tour with the most exciting artists right now, and I want to make sure that I have songs with all of them,” he said. “If we start getting into it and we start really vibing, maybe the last few nights, it’s a collaboration show, maybe we do all of our songs onstage together.” Whether fans actually get to see all six MCs rocking at once remains to be seen, but Drizzy does believe that each act will bring their own brand of excitement. Don’t arrive fashionably late, he warned. “On this tour, I encourage people to get there early, because it’s more [of] a festival vibe, if anything,” he said. “It’s one of those days that’s it’s going to start during the sunlight and the sun’s going to drop, it’s outdoors, it’s summertime … I want people to make it a day.” The amphitheater leg of Drake’s Club Paradise Tour kicks off May 7 in Concord, California. As we previously reported, Pippa Middleton is at the center of a gun scandal after she and her friends went for a spin in a convertible last weekend. After partying at a raucous bash in Paris until 5 a.m., Pips was spotted leaving in a car with friends, when the driver took out what appeared to be a semi-automatic pistol and aimed it at a celebrity news photographer. But was the gun even real? Sitting in the passenger seat, Pippa Middleton laughed. Nobody’s laughing now. Especially not her in-laws. “This is embarrassing for them,” a royal source says. The surprising scandal “has put [ Kate Middleton ] in a very difficult position,” the source adds. However, it appears that the excitement, which included reports that Pippa Middleton could face criminal charges, may have been overblown. ABC News reports that the photographer claims he knew all along that the gun was a fake and has been telling people he never felt scared by it. The Sun reported that the Paris Police are “poised” to launch a probe, but there is no investigation …. because no one has filed a complaint. Backed by a live band and unexpectedly artsy video screens, no less than Eminem, 50 Cent, Warren G and a hologram of Tupac graced the stage. As if that wasn’t enough, Wiz Khalifa also joined the West Coast hip-hop legends for the anthem of the weekend, “Young, Wild and Free,” which had the crowd singing the chorus in unison: “So what we get drunk/ So what we smoke w—/ We’re just having fun/ We don’t care who sees/ So what we go out/ That’s how it’s supposed to be/ Living young and wild and free.” Kendrick Lamar — who performed an afternoon set on the main stage Friday — also joined the pair for “The Recipe,” his new joint featuring Dre, who introduced him as “straight outta Compton.” After their own “The Next Episode” and “Deep Cover (187 on an Undercover Cop),” Dre and Snoop covered House of Pain’s “Jump Around.” The hardest moment of the night came when 50 Cent stormed the stage for “What Up Gangsta” with Tony Yayo by his side, seguing into “P.I.M.P.” with tropical calypso steel drums and his 2003 breakthrough hit, “In da Club.” Snoop paid homage to his late homey Nate Dogg, performing “Ain’t No Fun” alongside Kurupt and Warren G as the screens displayed photos of Nate, Snoop and the rest of the Dogg Pound. Earlier in the night, the main stage was handled by French electronic duo Justice and the much-anticipated At the Drive-In reunion. The influential post-hardcore band had heads banging to “Pattern Against User,” “Lopsided,” “Enfilade” and slowed it down a bit with the melodic “Napoleon Solo.” Elsewhere, the Sahara dance tent hosted Avicii, the Weeknd grooved a huge crowd at the Outdoor Stage as he sang the sun down with his soulful jams, and Florence and the Machine had the ladies lifted with the frontwoman’s request that the “strong gentleman in the house” offer their shoulders for “Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up).” In response to last year’s event selling out — a week after the 2011 lineup was announced — the festival is experimenting with featuring the same artists for two consecutive three-day weekends: April 13-15 and April 20-22. At Coachella’s uncharacteristically cold and glooming first day Friday , the Black Keys and Swedish House Mafia kept fans warm. Saturday brought Radiohead, Bon Iver and David Guetta with Usher. Lady Gaga is a major advocate for anti-bullying campaigns and LGBT rights, but she’s come under fire for a Tweet she recently posted about … eating. Yes, in what some critics are interpreting as a pro-anorexic statement, the outspoken, wacky-dressing singer recently told her 22.6 million Twitter fans: “Just killed back to back spin classes. Eating a salad dreaming of a cheeseburger #PopSingersDontEat #IWasBornThisWay,” the 26-year-old posted. Even though she was eating a salad (maybe she’s just dieting?), the backlash started rolling in, accusing the pop star of supporting eating disorders. “Seriously what is Lady Gaga playing at? In her last tweet she put #PopSingersDontEat. What a great role model she is…” one Tweeter posted. Added another Tweeter: “@ladygaga I’m stunned that you would promote such an unhealthy attitude towards food to your fans when you claim to be so righteous.” So far, no response from Gaga on Twitter, and since she’s not doing interviews for awhile, don’t expect a public comment anywhere else.
