Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie to Star in The Counselor?

For the first time since the 2005 action-romance that brought them together, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie may be set to burn up the big screen together. The Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-stars are in talks to appear alongside Shame’s Michael Fassbender and Javier Bardem in The Counselor , directed by Ridley Scott. According to reports, Brangelina’s project is set to begin in a few months, and the movie will shoot in Europe. Both the Jolie-Pitts and Scott have homes in France. Fassbender will play the title role of a respected lawyer who gets tangled in the drug business, while the film will reportedly deal with very gritty themes. Unlike when they shot Mr. and Mrs. Smith , however, Jolie and Pitt are a bona fide couple – with six kids. Until now they have alternated film projects. “We’re not ones to repeat ourselves, but we’d like to, because now, we’re hopscotching films so one can be with the kids and one’s free to work,” Pitt said. “And why aren’t we doing [movies] together? Why aren’t we doing everything together?” Looks like they soon will be.

It’s (Only) a Boy for Mindy McCready!

Mindy McCready cannot even give birth without controversy. The country singer – who abducted her son in late 2011 and was eventually found cowering with the five-year old in a friend’s closet – welcomed a baby boy into the world last Monday, she confirmed over the weekend, despite reports that she was pregnant with twins. His name is Zayne. “Zayne is truly a blessing and a joy,” McCready and boyfriend David Wilson said in a statement. “It was a long and trying pregnancy; we’re so happy he’s here. There are no words to convey how happy we are.” A rep for McCready says a “misinterpreted sonogram” was to blame for the initial claim of two fetuses. The crooner’s sordid history includes an alleged relationship with cheating baseball star Roger Clemens when she was only 16, along with the incident detailed above and a sex tape . She is also the mother to Zander, 6.

Barack Obama on Ann Romney: Hard-Working and Wonderful!

Following comments by Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen – who criticized Ann Romney for “never [working] a day in her life” and, therefore, lacking the knowledge to speak on economic issues – the wife of Mitt Romney finds herself supported by an unlikely ally: Barack Obama. Speaking to Columbus, Ohio television station WCMH yesterday, the President defended the work of stay-at-home moms everywhere, while also emphasizing that family members ought to be off limits in an election. “First of all there is no tougher job than being a mom,” Obama said. “I think this was an ill-advised statement by somebody on television. It’s not something that I subscribe to, and moreover my general rule is you don’t talk about the spouses of elected officials because they’ve got a really tough job. They’re out there supporting their husband or wife who have chosen to serve in public eye. “Sometimes that spouse isn’t volunteering for that job, but they’re doing the best they can supporting somebody they love and they care about. And I think they’re off limits, so on both counts it was the wrong thing to say and I haven’t met Ms. Romney but she seems like a wonderful woman and I know that she’s devoted her life to her family.” Ann Romney also shot back at Rosen this week, telling Fox News women should respect the career choices made by other women and that mothers are perfectly capable of speaking out on the “legacy of debt” she believes Obama is leaving the next generation. Jada Pinkett Smith on Divorce Rumors: Untrue!

She has already addressed the infidelity rumors via song , but now Jada Pinkett Smith is doing it via statement. With tabloid chatter continuing to claim that she and husband Will Smith are headed for a divorce, the actress told French magazine Gala this week: “Every year, one celebrity couple is under the microscope. This year, unluckily, it’s us! I almost want to say that we should have been expecting it.” So Jada did not sleep with Marc Anthony ? And Will, as rumored in the cover story below, is not having an affair with pal Duane Martin? “Will and I know the truth. We’re waiting peacefully for the storm to blow over,” Jada said, adding more forcefully: “These rumors are completely untrue. I travel a lot because of my work, just like Will does…. But our lifestyle hasn’t changed.” Okay. Glad that’s settled. Now, about your daughter’s hair …

One Directioner Niall Horan’s Half-Eaten Toast Sells For $100K

From Bieber’s lovely locks to ScarJo’s used tissue, MTV News looks back at the most outrageous celebrity auctions so far. By John Mitchell One Direction’s Niall Horan Photo: Getty Images Wondering just how big One Direction madness has gotten? Well, a half-eaten piece of toast left by the British boy band’s Niall Horan on an Australian talk show has attracted almost $100,000 in online bids. That’s Justin Bieber big, y’all! Digital Spy reports the toast was put up for auction on eBay by the Australian broadcaster behind the morning program “Sunrise.” The One Direction guys visited the show yesterday and were asked to try some traditional Down Under cuisine, including the country’s famous Vegemite spread. Horan was not a big fan and did not finish his toast, so the broadcaster decided to let the leftovers benefit the Australian charity Youngcare. Bidding opened at $0.99, though a quick succession of bids saw the price of the — we repeat — half-eaten piece of toast rise to $1,000. Within a few hours the price had risen to $15,000, which is when a serious shopper stepped into the mix, putting forth a $50,000 bid. The same bidder continued to make outrageous offers on the toast as other astute 1D fans got in the game, first bidding $80,000, then $85,000, $90,000 and eventually $99,999. That price was matched, meaning that even if the bidder who drove the price up so high was a fraud, there is another person out there willing to pay nearly $100,000 for a piece of half-eaten toast. Curiously, this is not the first time people have gotten all worked up on eBay over curious celeb castoffs. In other toast-related news, during the heyday of ‘NSYNC, a Z-100 DJ auctioned off a piece of French toast that Justin Timberlake took one bite of for a reported $3,154. The toast was purchased by a 19-year-old fan, who reportedly said that she would “probably freeze-dry it, then seal it … then put it on my dresser.” Yep. Justin Bieber gave Ellen DeGeneres a lock of his hair during an appearance on her talk show last year and she decided to put the hair up for auction to benefit the Gentle Barn Foundation, a California-based animal rights organization. Bieber’s luscious locks drew 98 bids and collected $40,688 for the charity. That’s about the cost of tuition at Amherst College. Though it brought in much less cash, a tissue used by Scarlett Johansson on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” still managed to bring in $5,300 for the charity, USA Harvest and online casino GoldenPalace paid $530 for, ahem, “A jar containing air exhaled by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.” Oh, and for “one piece of gum chewed and spat out by the pop princess.” The princess: Britney Spears. The year: 2004. We call dibs on the half-drank bottle of water left by whichever Jonas Brother stops through next. How much would you pay for Niall Horan’s half-eaten toast? Miley Cyrus’ ‘LOL’ Trailer: 5 Key Scenes

Remake of 2008 French film finds Cyrus seeking revenge on a cheating ex-boyfriend. By Fallon Prinzivalli Miley Cyrus in “LOL” Photo: Lionsgate It’s been a long time coming for Miley Cyrus’ remake of the 2008 French film “LOL.” Since the announcement back in 2010 that the film is being distributed by Lionsgate , news on the movie has been lacking. Well, not anymore, Cyrus fans. On Tuesday, the official trailer for the film dropped, which gives fans a preview of what the movie has in store. In a generation that spends more time updating the world about their problems than their families, 17-year-old Lola’s (Cyrus) status is constantly changing. As an attempt to get back at her — now ex — boyfriend Chad for cheating on her with Ashley ( Ashley Greene ), Lola starts seeing his best friend, Kyle ( Douglas Booth ). Her life begins to spiral downward as her grades drop while she experiments with drugs and sex, and a divorce has her mom completely oblivious to it all. Soon she starts to fall for Kyle and things get even more complicated. The trailer is a great peek at the teen drama, and we have the five key scenes from it. EX -Boyfriend The trailer begins with Lola’s voice over: “Every year it’s weird going back to school, but here we are just going with the flow, trying to love and laugh out loud.” She abruptly stops laughing when she calls out Chad on not texting her throughout the summer and he admits he hooked up with Lola’s rival Ashley. She acts like she doesn’t care, but as soon as she enters her room she begins crying on her bed. This emotional scene that sets up the rest of the trailer. A New Beginning Lola quickly gets over her failed romance as she begins hanging out with Chad’s best friend Kyle. A montage begins of their new friendship as they share a lollipop, rock out on an air guitar and come this close to kissing by his car. Everything is even more wonderful when he tells her, “You’re amazing.” We imagine audiences will quickly become fans of Booth. “I can’t believe I ever dated you!” But the puppy love comes to a halt when Lola begins her sexual awakening. It seems rumors begin circulating when Chad says to Lola in the school courtyard, “Now that you’re giving it up I figured maybe I could get some.” The next scene shows Lola lashing out and pushing him into a gate screaming, “I can’t believe I ever dated you!” The trailer isn’t clear on what exactly causes the outburst, but we’re betting it’s pretty bad judging by Lola’s reaction. Trouble In Paradise? As it turns out, Chad’s comment is just the beginning of situations that spiral out of Lola’s control. The next few scenes show a fight with her mom about her grades dropping and a drunken make-out session with Kyle. Her life gets even worse as she witnesses Kyle walking with his arm around Ashley. When she confronts him about it, he denies it and she spits out, “You’re disgusting.” But we already knew Greene’s character would cause a stir when Demi Moore told MTV News “she’s really saucy.” “Status can change, but true love remains the same.” Throughout the next montage of scenes, we see “status can change, but true love remains the same” typed out across the screen as Kyle dedicates a song to Lola and she makes up with her mom. Finally, as a smiling Kyle rests his head on an equally happy Lola, the trailer leaves us with the feeling that despite the craziness of high school, everything will work out for Lola in the end. After all, she did say she just goes with the flow and high school is only the beginning. Are you planning on seeing “LOL” in theaters? Leave your comment below! Memo to Hollywood: Don’t Mess With Louis Vuitton

I hesitate to even pass along word of the luxury fashion purveyor’s ongoing litigiousness lest this site land in its hungry crosshairs, but: Have you heard about the lengths to which Louis Vuitton is going to keep its brand safe from the grubby likes of The Hangover Part II ? Or how another, recently resolved court victory has possibly shored up its case against the film’s studio Warner Bros.? Memo to Hollywood: Either get your clearances up front or do not even think of messing with these guys. This has been going on for a while , but THR Esq. now offers up the bone-chilling latest: On March 22, a judge granted a summary judgment victory to Louis Vuitton over a Super Bowl TV commercial produced by Hyundai that featured for approximately one second a basketball that bore resemblance to a flower-like symbol on chestnut-brown background design that was trademarked by Louis Vuitton. The French brand says that the judge’s decision two weeks ago shows why it should be able to go forward with its claims against Warner Bros. for infringing and diluting its trademark by showing for one brief moment in [ The Hangover Part II ] Zach Galifianakis telling someone who pushes his bag, “Be careful, that is … that is a Lewis Vuitton.” In mid-March, Warner Bros. responded to the lawsuit by telling a New York judge that it had a First Amendment right to feature trademarks and incorporate real-life references to brands without getting the consent of owners. The studio added there wasn’t any confusion, and if there was, it was de minimis and/or the responsibility of the company that had actually produced the knock-off handbag. Meanwhile, the designer isn’t backing down, arguing in a court filing (with its victory versus Hyundai in mind) that “Louis Vuitton’s ‘aggressive’ enforcement of its trademark rights and prompt action against those who misuse its trademarks are necessary concomitants of its exclusive rights in the brand.” Fine, but to what end? Is “the brand” — and apparently its business — so fragile that millions of dollars in legal expenses are themselves necessary concomitants of relevancy in 2012? Or is this just the more socially permissible way of shoring up the market share that all those knock-off merchants in Lower Manhattan have eroded in recent years? Either way, to all you screenwriters and studio legal departments alike: Maybe stick to Samsonite? [ THR Esq .] Follow S.T. VanAirsdale on Twitter . Follow Movieline on Twitter .
