In a teaser for upcoming ‘Last Friday Night’ video, science-fair loving Kathy Beth Terry gets trashed at a house party. By James Dinh Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” cover art Photo: Capitol Pop stars often take on different personas in their music videos, but Katy Perry has taken it a step further, unveiling a dorky new alter ego before the release of her clip for “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).” For the fifth single off Teenage Dream, Perry has transformed into a 13-year-old high-schooler named Kathy Beth Terry, whose Facebook page lists her birthday as June 1, 1998. The visual for the Dr. Luke and Max Martin-produced feel-good tune drops June 14. Fans caught an early glimpse of the “Last Friday Night” video in a teaser released online on Tuesday (June 7). In the 35-second sneak peek, an invite for “the party of the summer” is pinned onto Kathy Beth’s corkboard, alongside her science award ribbon and dentist appointment reminder. “What, what was last night?” a confused Kathy asks herself in the clip, before a flashback montage shows festivities, kids dancing, and the wide-eyed teen throwing up in a shoe. Perry’s solar-system-loving persona has already hit the social media realms of Twitter and Facebook. Not only does Kathy Beth Terry love a good party, but she’s a technology wiz too. “Harry S. Truman High: your firewall is weak, just hacked into @Twitter at the library, you can’t block me, n00bs!” Kathy tweeted on Tuesday. If fans want to know even more about Kathy, they can head to the high-schooler’s Facebook page and read up on some of her interests, which include high-school science fairs, Beanie Babies and Hanson. As for where the 13-year-old gets her fashions from, Kathy writes, “I shop at Mervyn’s and Dillard’s (sometimes). I WISH I could afford 579!” What do you think of Katy’s video teaser? Man, these football wives are something else. NFL matrimony-dom isn’t all it’s cracked up to be for Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who is laid up in a hospital bed after getting into a spat with his wife. Brandon Marshall was stabbed in the stomach Friday night by his wife and the Dolphins wide receiver remained in intensive care in a Miami hospital after surgery Saturday morning. Michi-Nogami-Marshall, 26, was arrested Friday night on one charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. According to Broward County police records cited by the Orlando Sun-Sentinel, Nogami-Marshall told deputies she stabbed Marshall in self-defense. Nogami-Marshall is being held on a $7,500 bond. Sources told ESPN.com that Marshall was taken to Broward General Hospital and underwent surgery late Friday night for the stab wound. Doctors are saying no vital organs were pierced and that the Pro Bowler will be okay in two to three weeks. Marshall’s agent Kennard McGuire released the following statement: “This is a very difficult time for Brandon and his family, thankfully he will make a full recovery. We simply ask during this time we respect his privacy.” The Miami Herald is reporting that a high-end team source sent a text message saying Marshall is “stable” and the stabbing isn’t life threatening. The Herald also said the Dolphins are now fully aware of the situation. Marshall, who was acquired from the Denver Broncos last April, lead the Dolphins in receiving yards in 2010 with 1,014 despite only playing 14 games. A hamstring injury caused him to sit out two games. Marshall, who was involved in the fight at a Denver nightclub that ended with the shooting death of his teammate Darrent Williams on New Year’s Eve in 2006, has a history of off-field incidents. He has multiple arrests for disorderly conduct, drunken driving and domestic violence on his record. In 2008 he was suspended for three games by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, but the suspension was later reduced to just one game With Marshall’s history of getting slizzed and domestic abuse there may be a whole lot more to this story. One thing is for sure — it ain’t safe for these two to be together. Source
‘Madea’s Big Happy Family’ director/star laughs to MTV News, ‘That old broad is going to jump’ once moviegoers tire of her. By Kara Warner Tyler Perry Photo: MTV News It’s no question that Tyler Perry’s Madea character is beloved by fans. So much so, that with the release of “Madea’s Big Happy Family” this week, the outspoken, no-nonsense matriarch hits the big screen for the sixth time. And as much as Perry loves the fan fervor for Madea, he’s hinted multiple times over the years that he would love to kill the character off some way, somehow. But there’s just one thing: The fans won’t let him! “The people, they won’t let it go,” Perry told MTV News at the premiere of “Madea’s Big Happy Family” on Tuesday night. “They won’t let it go. I got about a million messages on my message board of people saying how much they love it, so as long as people want to see it, I’ll keep doing it,” he promised. “The minute they stop coming [to see Madea in movies], that old broad is going to jump, and she’ll be gone, I’m telling you.” So with all that love/hate built up for his own creation, does Madea haunt Tyler Perry? “No, not at all,” he said with a laugh. “God forbid, that would be scary.” Perry went on to say that hes very capable of separating the craziness of Madea from his own persona, despite what people may think. “Sometimes I’ll get excited and my voice will raise a little bit and people will think that’s me going into [Madea],” he said. “But no.” In “Big Happy Family,” which opens this Friday,April 22, Madea is tasked with helping a few of her troubled family members get their lives back on track, via her M.O. of tough love and witty one-liners. The film also stars Shad “Bow Wow” Moss, David Mann, Cassi Davis, Tamela Mann, Lauren London, Isaiah Mustafa and Teyana Taylor.
