Ken Norton Sr., a one-time heavyweight boxing champion, died today at a hospital in Arizona where he had been rehabilitating from a stroke he suffered in 2012. He was 70 years old. Friend and manager Patrick Tenore confirmed the news of Norton’s passing. Norton, who had congestive heart failure, defeated Muhammad Ali in 1973 and then lost a rematch to the iconic athlete later that same year. He also fought Ali and lost again at Yankee Stadium in 1976. Norton won the World Boxing Council title in 1978 and lost it after just a few months to Larry Holmes. He finished his career with a record of 42-7-1 (with 33 knockouts). Norton attempting an acting career after he retired from the ring and his son won multiple Super Bowls as a linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers. Khloe Kardashian Panicked Over Overdose Rumors Those overdose rumors may have been a lie, but if Lamar keeps going like this, Khloe may have something to really panic over. According to TMZ Khloe Kardashian still has deep feelings for the man she threw out of their house, because TMZ has learned she was terrified after hearing rumors Lamar Odom may have OD’d on crack. Rumors were circulating late last week that Lamar had OD’d and was dying … not all that unbelievable considering his drug addiction … and when Khloe heard about it she freaked. We’re told Khloe “panicked” and began power dialing Lamar’s cell phone, but it kept going to voicemail. She then started calling his friends — a bunch of them — trying to figure out if the rumor was true. She finally got Lamar on the phone. He was at their downtown loft and said he was fine and the rumor was false. We’re told at that point Khloe pulled back and reiterated — Lamar could not come back home unless he got treatment for his drug addiction. The call ended shortly thereafter. Gucci Mane — real name Radric Davis — was taken into custody at 12:05 am this morning after one of his friends complained to cops about his erratic behavior. Wait, and it was his homie who called them?!?! SMH According to the report — the friend waved down police to help out … but when they approached Gucci he began “cursing and threatening them.” We’re told he was immediately taken into custody and police found a small amount of marijuana on the 33-year old rapper … as well as a handgun. GM was booked for carrying a concealed weapon, disorderly conduct and marijuana possession … then taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution. We’re told he’s still at the hospital. Hospital??? Earlier this week, veteran radio personality Mister Cee was caught on tape soliciting a man for sex and then announced he was resigning from Hot 97. Now, he says he will not quit the NYC station after all. During an interview this morning , Mr. Cee acknowledged he has had engaged in oral sex with transgender men, but he does not consider himself gay. He says the video that emerged this week was actually from last year, and that he had stopped soliciting transgender prostitutes after his arrest in May. Says the troubled hip hop DJ: “I was already in motion of repairing that and trying to move better as far as what I did in my private life.” “The situation that happened in May with the undercover male officer, everything that I told you back then was the god’s honest truth,” Mister Cee insists. Mr. Cee Interview “I went to court Monday, and the charges were dropped. I have not been involved in any type of activity since probably the beginning of the year.” Mr. Cee broke into tears when speaking about how the situation may affect his ability to support his family and his feeling that he let his friends down. Matt Lauer may be a member of the media, but that doesn’t mean he’s a fan of the media. Asked in the latest issue of Esquire about Ann Curry’s firing and the blame for it being placed at his feet, the embattled Today anchor could not hide his disdain for how the event was covered. “The way the media treated what happened with Ann Curry was a disappointing learning experience,” he says. “I was disappointed by the laziness of the media, the willingness to read a rumor, repeat that rumor, and treat it as a fact.” Those rumors, of course, have not quieted for Lauer. Source claim he recently refused a pay cut , forcing NBC to fire a number of Today staffers. He’s also been accused of being demeaning and dismissive of those below him. “What were my options?” Lauer asks of the Curry situation. “Does anyone want to see a person who’s making the money that the newspapers say I’m making complaining, “Woe is me, my life is terrible, and people are being unfair”? “No one would’ve had any patience for that. I wouldn’t have any patience for that. So you just shut up and go about doing your job and hope that people who know you well – your friends and your family – know what’s true.” Many still believe that Lauer pushed for Curry’s ousting. He’s admitted in the months since that the ordeal was not handled well and he hopes viewers give the program a chance to rebound. So far, so not good, though. Today has fallen behind Good Morning America in the ratings and Lauer’s seat behind the main desk may soon go from hot to scorching.
