My name is Dale and I met Justin on July 17th, 2013 in Philadelphia . I’ve been supporting Justin since December 2009 and made a Twitter (@JBieberBoy94) supporting him on February 1st, 2010. I used to watch Justin in 2008 on YouTube and when I heard about him being famous in 2009, I froze up. I couldn’t believe it. After making my Twitter I organized buyouts for him, posted signs around, and supported him in anyway I could. I tried meeting him in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. They all failed, except one. In 2010, 2011, and 2012 my friends started trending topics: #JustinMeetDale; and #BiebsMeetDale. My friend Sydney (@y0bieber) never gave up helping me. She’s been the most amazing friend and gave me hope that I will meet him one day. Every time the crew would respond afterwards when it couldn’t happen. I’d think of “Never Say Never” and it gave me hope. Finally, in 2013 I entered the BieberFever contest. I had no tickets, and no M&Gs. The day before the concert I started losing hope but my friend Sydney told me not to worry, and that it’s not over until tomorrow. At 7:04 p.m. I got an e-mail from BieberFever telling me that I was meeting Justin and I cried my eyes out. I was FINALLY meeting him. The next day, I got to the arena and found out Justin was giving fans water, what an amazing idol right? Anyways after waiting in the line for 3 hours I was finally experiencing the meet & greet. I walked in, Justin had the biggest smile on his face. I was speechless but I said, “I’ve been a fan since the beginning,” very lightly and he heard me and said, “Wow thank you so much,” and smirked. After the photo was taken, I could not find which exit to leave so before I left, he gave me a handshake and said, “Thanks.” I was too happy to even say anything. The concert is an experience you’ll never forget. During the show he touched my hand and recorded me with the camera. As the concert went on, I kept getting more emotional thinking, “It finally happened” and when he starting singing ‘Believe’ is when I started tearing up. Please don’t ever give up on your dreams. Work hard and stay determined no matter how long it takes. It took me 4 years to achieve my dream, you can do it too. Just BELIEVE. After seeing my picture, I hope it gives you hope. Thank you so much for reading my experience, thank you to my friends who helped me through this all, and thank you so much Justin for being the greatest idol ever. 40% Of White Americans Do Not Have Friends Of Other Races And the same goes for 25% on non-white Americans …. Via Reuters UK: About 40 percent of white Americans and about 25 percent of non-white Americans are surrounded exclusively by friends of their own race, according to an ongoing Reuters/Ipsos poll. The figures highlight how segregated the United States remains in the wake of a debate on race sparked by last month’s acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting of unarmed black Florida teenager Trayvon Martin. President Barack Obama weighed in after the verdict, calling for Americans to do some “soul searching” on whether they harbor racial prejudice. There are regions and groups where mixing with people of other races is more common, especially in the Hispanic community where only a tenth do not have friends of a different race. About half of Hispanics who have a spouse or partner are in a relationship with non-Hispanics, compared to one tenth of whites and blacks in relationships. Looking at a broader circle of acquaintances to include coworkers as well as friends and relatives, 30 percent of Americans are not mixing with others of a different race, the poll showed. Respondent Kevin Shaw, 49, has experienced both integration and racial homogeny. He grew up in downtown Kansas City, Missouri, and attended a mixed high school where he was one of only two white teenagers on the mostly black football team. His wife, Bobbi, is Hispanic. They met in high school and have been married for 27 years. Eleven years ago, they moved to a predominantly white neighborhood in the suburb of Liberty. “Soon after we moved in, my mother-in-law came to visit and a neighbor asked if she was my maid. It was just a matter of ignorance,” he said. In the time he has lived there the neighborhood has become less blinkered, helped by the arrival of younger families. In his comments two weeks ago, President Obama expressed optimism about the future, saying his daughters’ experiences show younger generations have fewer issues with race. “It doesn’t mean we’re in a post-racial society. It doesn’t mean that racism is eliminated. But…they’re better than we are, they’re better than we were, on these issues,” he said. Younger American adults appear to confirm this, according to the poll. About one third of Americans under the age of 30 who have a partner or spouse are in a relationship with someone of a different race, compared to one tenth of Americans over 30. And only one in 10 adults under 30 say no one among their families, friends or coworkers is of a different race, less than half the rate for Americans as a whole. These results were taken from the ongoing Reuters/Ipsos online poll and include the responses of 4,170 Americans between July 24th and August 6th. The credibility interval, a measure of precision, for these results is plus or minus about 2.7 percentage points for a five-day average on any given day during that period. Smaller subsets of the poll, such as blacks, Hispanics and adults under 30, have a credibility interval for that period ranging from about 3 percentage points to 11 percentage points. The race and ethnicity questions in this story are part a polling project that started in January 2012, surveying about 11,000 people a month since then. It all started July 6th. I was in the middle of the mall and my friend called me saying she won meet & greet passes to meet Justin the next day, and that she was taking me! Of course I couldn’t make a huge scene in the mall but I was tearing up and shaking the entire time. Then the day came and we got ready and went to the area. At 4:00 pm we got our wristbands but had to wait until 6:15 to actually get in the meet and greet line. Once we were inside, we had to walk down flights of stairs and I had no idea where we were. Then security said, “Do you know where you guys are?!” and everyone was like, “Where?!” and they go, “Backstage!” At that point everyone was screaming and crying. The line moved so fast I could barely think. Security told us to get in groups of six, but somehow I convinced them to let me and my friends and I go in a group of four. At first when we walked into the curtain, we watched the group ahead of us meet Justin. While we waited, Alfredo was standing there and I said, “Hey Fredo!” and he stuck his tongue out at me and goes, “Hey!” Then I heard a weird sound and I looked down at the floor. Guess who it was?! Lil Za was playing with drumsticks and was making some beat on the floor. Finally our time came and security told us to come in. There was four of us and we all tried to talk to Justin at once, it was a mess. The photographer said, “Alright we needed to take the picture.” Before he took the picture I stuck my hand in front of the camera, turned to Justin and I asked him if we could take a silly picture. He got all hyper and he smiled so big. It was like all of the sudden he got so happy. He said, “Yeah let’s do it!” and so we posed. Then we had to leave and security was pulling me out, so I ripped my arm away from them and I grabbed his stomach (technically I was touching his abs) and I said, “Thank you so much,” and Justin said, “You’re so welcome!” It was literally the best day of my life. July 3rd was the most amazing day of my entire life. I met my idol and it was my first concert as well. A week before the concert I had written a twitlonger writing about why I hadn’t been able to go to previous Justin concerts in the past years. Everyone was kind enough to help me look for tickets. The next day I woke up and was disappointed to see I had lost a ticket giveaway. That night my mentions on Twitter were going crazy because I had a tweet that someone was giving away a ticket and I had been chosen! I began to cry and I was shaking. I called my mom to tell her and she agreed to take me to Dallas. I tweeted the girl who was giving me the ticket and we agreed to meet on the day of the concert. The days were getting closer and I was excited. We got to the arena at noon and the buses were there. I began shaking and screaming. As soon as I got there, a security guard got off one of the buses and handed me a Justin Bieber guitar pick that was autographed and told me to enjoy the show. We waited and waited but no one would come out. Then suddenly a girl shouted, “Oh my god, it’s Scooter!” We turned around and there was Scooter getting out of a SUV. Everyone began pushing on my wheelchair and Scooter said, “Woah be careful! I’m sorry I can’t take pictures. I got to get to work.” My heart dropped but he saw me and smiled. Then a man named Patrick walked up to me and asked how long I had been waiting for. A lady next to me said, “You should get her meet & greets, she deserves it.” He agreed with her and told me, “I’ll see what I can do, but no promises.” I nodded and was excited. We then walked to the opposite side of where the buses were and then Kenny came out. I didn’t see him but my mom did. We were in line when the lady from earlier came up to us and she said, “Did you get meet & greet bracelets?” I shook my head and she said, “Well since you were in the hot sun for more than 6 hours I’m going to give you mine, I can always meet him another time.” I was in shock. She took off her bracelet and put it on my wrist. She then showed us where to go and soon enough I was in line waiting to meet my idol. They began letting people in around 7, and a family was kind enough to let me go in front of them. The curtains opened and there he was, saying bye to his previous beliebers, as my mom wheeled me to the spot. I covered my mouth as I saw him dancing with some of his friends. He saw me and he walked up to me and said, “Oh oh, hey sweetheart!” I melted. I said hi with my voice breaking and he gave me the biggest hug and kissed my cheek while I was hugging him. I said “OMG I love you.” He said, “Aww I love you too.” He pulled away and he wheeled me in front the camera man and he said, “Alright you’re going to hug me in the picture okay sweetie?” I nodded and when I was hugging him, I asked him, “Can I kiss your cheek?” He said, “Of course sweetie.” I kissed his cheek as everyone that was inside with him awed. He rolled his tongue to the side of the cheek I was kissing and I swear I almost fainted. My mom took a quick picture and he said, “Thank you sweetie bye.” We left and spotted Jeremy to the side where he was looking at me and smiling. I burst out into tears and we walked up to the elevators. We went to our section and we waited for the countdown. The concert was the most amazing experience. My first concert was unforgettable. I couldn’t believe that the guy who was singing and dancing on that stage was the guy I had just met. I want everyone to never give up on meeting Justin. I waited for 5 years and on July 3, 2013 I thought that I would only be going to see him in concert but I ended up meeting him. Keep believing because anything is possible. I never in a MILLION YEARS after everything I’ve been through, thought I would have a MBE or meet any of the crew, let alone Justin. The first time I met any of the crew was at the Billboard Music Awards weekend. I live in Vegas and celebrities come here all the time but this was the first time my friends and I actually attempted to find anyone. I got home from dance and my friend called me saying that she was at the MGM and just met Scrappy . I begged my dad to take me and he finally did. I met a ton of cool beliebers and we all looked around MGM all day. About 5 hours later, we were sitting in the lobby charging our phones when two of the girls who went to the bathroom come back saying they saw Scooter Braun and Dan Kanter! We all freaked out and start walking until Scooter and Dan walked right past us and Scooter said, “Hi girls.” We all stood there as he was walking out like “Uh do we follow him or leave him?” My friend and I went over to talk to him and told him about our buyout. He thought it was really sweet and he asked us what charity and talked a bit until the other girls swarmed him and he left to catch a cab with Dan. Suddenly the other girls freaked out and I saw Fredo & Quincy. They took some pictures with us then ran across the parking lot to catch their car. A couple hours later we ran into Scrappy and talked to him for a bit. He told us how Justin hates Vegas because he just sits in his room since he’s not 21! We then ran into Lil Twist at the check-in, Wiz Khalifah, and Roshon Fegan. After calling numerous radio stations and entering contests, my friend finally got through to win meet and greets on the radio, and it just so happened out of all the people who qualified, SHE WON! She was taking me to meet Justin with her! I didn’t cry because I was just in shock. I literally didn’t know how to react at all. When we got to the concert, and after waiting in line, finally we got our wristbands. We got into the curtain as the group before was taking their picture and as soon as we got in, I felt like I was dreaming. He was perfect. Literally not a single flaw. He was like, “Hi girls,” and the guards were shoving and yelling, “Picture!” We all posed and I got on the very end but Justin reached his arm as far as he could, and it was on my back. Then he tried to hug us all but the guard went and stood in front of him like “NO HUGS NEXT GROUP,” but Justin grabbed my arm as I tried to side hug him. He tried to pull me in but the guard was in the way so he just let go of my arm and gave me a look. As I was walking out I said, “Thank you” and he was like, “Thank YOU sweetie!” Scooter was holding the curtain open and we said hi to each other again. We then went to the show which started late but it didn’t even matter because he put on a flawless and amazing performance as always. He is one of the most humble performers ever and he was so happy and giggly the whole time. I could NEVER thank Justin and the crew for both those days. I never thought I would meet any of Justin’s crew or Justin himself and I did. I used to be so negative and never know how to look at the positive side but everything changed.
