So…who nominated him? Wanted Man Caught By Police After Posting Ice Bucket Video Most people know that if you’re hiding from police it’s best to keep a bit of a low profile . But one fugitive from the law just couldn’t resist taking on the ALS ice bucket challenge and showing all his friends on social media. Maybe he thought the cause was more important than his freedom? Via Gawker : Jesean Morris was wanted by police in Omaha for violating the terms of his parole. They found him after someone saw his video for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge—the dousing that has captured the nation’s attention and clicks—on Facebook and reported him. According to the Omaha World-Herald, after learning of Morris’ location, police arrived and saw him get into a PT Cruiser and be driven away. Police followed, pulled the car over and arrested Morris, who allegedly first gave officers a fake name and spit in their face. Morris also allegedly kicked down the partition between the front and back seats of the police car. The Smoking Gun, citing state records, reports that Morris was released in March of this year. He was tried and sentenced as an adult for his involvement in a shooting in 2010, when he was 16. Well in light of his enthusiasm to take on fad challenges, we nominate this one to the common sense challenge! All you have to do is let a single coherent thought go through your mind before you commit to any action…then nominate five more of your dummy criminal friends. SMH.
Rumors had been circulating for months, so few were surprised yesterday when Nick Cannon confirmed his separation from Mariah Carey . Even so, going public with the split may have been a foolish move on Cannon’s part. Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon Photos From Happier Times 1. Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon Red Carpet Photo Nick and Mariah posing for the paps. The couple is believed to have one of Hollywood’s most stable marriages. Reports that Cannon cheated on Mariah appear to be false, but even so, Carey seems to be holding all the cards with regard to custody of the couple’s two-year-old-twins. Sources say Carey is “pissed” that Cannon went public despite signing a non-disclosure agreement, and she may take it out on him by further restricting his already limited visitation rights. While we don’t know the cause of the separation of who initiated it, insiders seem to think it wasn’t Cannon’s idea, but he may be the one who holds most of the blame. While Carey has been permitted to stay at home with the children, Cannon has reportedly been living in hotels for several months, which seems to indicate that there was some indiscretion on Cannon’s part. Friends close to Cannon say the comedian seems “depressed,” and likely went public with the news of his separation simply because he’d reached a low point and was tired of keeping up appearances. Though it seems Cannon didn’t make his revelation for revenge purposes, he may still face retribution from Carey who reportedly wanted to keep the split a secret until after her upcoming tour. A New York City runway model who was missing for nearly two weeks has been found alive, police say. Missing NYC Model Ataui Deng Found Alive At Hospital Via NBC New York reports: Ataui-Deng Hopkins was found Monday at an area hospital, 12 days after she was last seen leaving the rooftop XVI Lounge on West 48th Street near Eighth Avenue on Aug. 6, according to the NYPD. The 22-year-old models professionally under the name Ataui Deng. She has walked the runways for designers like Proenza Schouler, Zac Posen, Malandrino and Lanvin, according to New York Magazine. Hopkins has also appeared in Harper’s Bazaar and Teen Vogue. The Sudanese-born model has been modeling since she was 14 and lived in Texas before coming to New York City. A spokeswoman at Trump Models, Hopkins’ agency since 2008, said before the 22-year-old was found that everyone was worried about the “much loved” woman and had been making calls and trying to find her. Celebrities including Rihanna also tweeted her photo during the search. Hopkins’ friend, celebrity chef Roble Ali, said she had disappeared before for a day or two when she felt like she needed space. But he said he got worried about this most recent case because she’d never been gone so long. In an Instagram post after she was found, Ali thanked police and friends for their efforts. “She is safe and sound,” he said. “I want to thank all of our friends and followers and especially the NYPD for their swift and dedicated response.” What a sigh of relief!
Sybrina Fulton Pens Open Letter To Mike Brown’s Family The only person that can truly understand what Mike Brown’s family is going through are people who lived the same horror themselves. Sybrina Fulton, mother of slain teen Trayvon Martin, has stepped into the conversation about the killing of Mike Brown — addressing the family as someone who has lived their same struggle . Via TIME : To The Brown Family, I wish I had a word of automatic comfort but I don’t. I wish I could say that it will be alright on a certain or specific day but I can’t. I wish that all of the pain that I have endured could possibly ease some of yours but it won’t. What I can do for you is what has been done for me: pray for you then share my continuing journey as you begin yours. I hate that you and your family must join this exclusive yet growing group of parents and relatives who have lost loved ones to senseless gun violence. Of particular concern is that so many of these gun violence cases involve children far too young. But Michael is much more than a police/gun violence case; Michael is your son. A son that barely had a chance to live. Our children are our future so whenever any of our children – black, white, brown, yellow, or red – are taken from us unnecessarily, it causes a never-ending pain that is like unlike anything I could have imagined experiencing. Further complicating the pain and loss in this tragedy is the fact that the killer of your son is alive, known, and currently free. In fact, he is on paid administrative leave. Your own feelings will bounce between sorrow and anger. Even when you don’t want to think about it because it is so much to bear, you will be forced to by merely turning on your television or answering your cell phone. You may find yourselves pulled in many different directions by strangers who may be well-wishers or detractors. Your circle will necessarily close tighter because the trust you once, if ever, you had in “the system” and their agents are forever changed. Your lives are forever changed. However with those changes come new challenges and opportunities. You will experience a swell of support from all corners of the world. Many will express their sympathies and encourage you to keep fighting for Michael. You will also, unfortunately, hear character assassinations about Michael which I am certain you already have. This will incense and insult you. All of this will happen before and continue long after you have had the chance to lay your son to rest. I know this because I lived and continue to live this. I have devoted my life to the comprehensive missions of The Trayvon Martin Foundation – including providing support to families that have lost a young child to senseless gun violence regardless of race, ethnicity or gender. I will support you and your efforts to seek justice for your Michael and the countless other Michaels & Trayvons of our country. The 20 Sandy Hook children. Jordan Davis. Oscar Grant. Kendrick Johnson. Sean Bell. Hadya Pendleton. The Aurora shooting victims. The list is too numerous to adequately mention them all. According to The Children’s Defense Fund, gun violence is the second leading cause of death for children ages 1-19. That is a horrible fact. Facts, myths, and flat out lies are already out there in Michael’s case. Theories, regardless of how ridiculous, are being pondered by the pundits. My advice is to surround yourselves with proven and trusted support. Through it all, I never let go of my faith, my family, or my friends. Long after the overwhelming media attention is gone, you will need those three entities to find your ‘new normal.’ Honor your son and his life, not the circumstances of his alleged transgressions. I have always said that Trayvon was not perfect. But no one will ever convince me that my son deserved to be stalked and murdered. No one can convince you that Michael deserved to be executed. But know this: neither of their lives shall be in vain. The galvanizations of our communities must be continued beyond the tragedies. While we fight injustice, we will also hold ourselves to an appropriate level of intelligent advocacy. If they refuse to hear us, we will make them feel us. Some will mistake that last statement as being negatively provocative. But feeling us means feeling our pain; imagining our plight as parents of slain children. We will no longer be ignored. We will bond, continue our fights for justice, and make them remember our children in an appropriate light. I would hate to think that our lawmakers and leaders would need to lose a child before protecting the rest of them and making the necessary changes NOW… With Heartfelt Support, Sybrina D. Fulton Very moving words.

Celine Dion is taking a break from her professional life for unfortunate personal reasons. According to People, Dion has postponed her Las Vegas residency, canceled her tour of Asia and postponed all show business activities indefinitely due to her husband’s health issues. In December, René Angélil had a tumor removed from his throat last December and this illness has resulted in “a very difficult and stressful time,” the singer tells the magazine. She adds: “I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband’s healing, and to do so, it’s important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children. I also want to apologize to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support.” The 46-year old artist is also suffering from inflammation in her throat muscles, which has prevented her from performing her show at Caesars Palace since July 29. She and Angélil are the parents of three children and Dion forever won us over by extending a concert invitation to the awesome dude who covered All By Myself inside the Las Vegas airport in June. Robin Williams, who passed away earlier this week, touched millions of people in a legendary career that often reminded us how wonderful a person can be. Now, in a reminder of how terrible people can be, his grieving daughter Zelda Williams says she’s quitting social media after being besieged by Internet trolls. While countless fans have taken to the Internet to express their love and respect for Williams, many others sent horrific comments and pictures to Zelda. The second-oldest of Robin Williams’ children , Zelda initially took the fight to the trolls, asking supporters to report them to social media administrators. Soon enough, realizing how fruitless this is, she decided it was better for her to delete her accounts, after posting a farewell apology and message: “I’m sorry. I should’ve risen above,” Williams Tweeted. “Deleting this from my devices for a good long time, maybe forever. Time will tell. Goodbye.” The mourning 25-year-old also suspended her Instagram, writing: “I will be leaving this account for a bit while I heal and decide if I’ll be deleting it or not. In this difficult time, please try to be respectful of the accounts of myself, my family and my friends.” Zelda defended herself for not sharing more photos of her dad – a ridiculous thing people harassed her about – as well as their relationship in general: 21 Memorable Robin Williams Quotes 1. That You May Contribute a Verse What will YOUR verse be? “Mining our accounts for photos of dad, or judging me on the number of them is cruel and unnecessary,” she added, in response to online criticism. “There are a couple throughout, but the real private moments I shared with him were precious, quiet, and believe it or not, not full of photos or ‘selfies.'” “I shared him with a world where everyone was taking their photo with him, but I was lucky enough to spend time with him without cameras too.” “That was more than enough, and I’m grateful for what little time I had. My favorite family photos are framed in my house, not posted on social media.” “They’ll remain there. They would’ve wound up on the news or blogs then, and certainly would now. That’s not what I want for our memories together.” “Thank you for your respect and understanding in this difficult time. Goodbye. Xo” Zelda and her half-brothers Zak, 31, and Cody, 22, Robin’s children from his previous marriages, continue to grieve along with his widow, Susan Schneider . R.I.P. Robin Williams: His Most Memorable Roles 1. Mork (Mork & Mindy) The role that started it all. Robin Williams starred as an alien on the late 1970s sitcom Mork & Mindy.
Will you be helping Ericka find a man? The Singles Project’s Ericka Pittman On Dating Bravo is premiering the first ever real-time dating docu-series, The Singles Project, tomorrow night at 10PM. The Singles Project follows 6 Manhattan singles as they date around in NYC, however the show takes a new approach, allowing viewers to chime in and help the singles pick dates, drop pickup lines, and make suggestions as to how to flirt, what to say, etc. We caught up with Ericka Pittman — one of Diddy’s right hand women — and chatted with her about the highs and lows of dating in the city. Judging by the clip below, Ericka obviously needs a little help from viewers in the flirting department: As an attractive, educated, professional woman (Ericka is the Vice President of Business Development at Combs Wine and Spirits) you would think she’d have little trouble snagging a man. However as the self-proclaimed “Brooklyn Barbie” tells it, dating in New York is a crazy process and she’s willing to take all the helps she can get — even from strangers. BOSSIP: Why would you sign up to let strangers match you with dates? Why not? I’m just at a place in my life where I’m taking amazing calculated risks and doing outrageous things to have outrageous results, and I’m encouraging young women to do the same. If I’m preaching the gospel, I’ve got to live it! It’s an opportunity, it’s a fun summer. Why not? BOSSIP: Is finding a suitable man really that hard? I think dating is tough, and as you grow and mature, your selection process gets a little bit more filtered, and that makes it difficult to find someone that you’re compatible with. So that paired with how busy New York is — everyone with their own goals and agendas — I think it can be a challenge, and you need some assistance. A lot of us seek our friends, some people seek online dating, and The Singles Project is a revolutionary way to date in New York. BOSSIP: What kind of man are you into? I like man with a really strong moral compass. I want someone that is family oriented, that is ready to settle down. And then there’s the superficial stuff — he should just be tall, dark, and handsome. But I really do love someone with a lot of wit and a really handsome smile, and someone that can make me laugh. BOSSIP: Reality TV can get a little crazy…where do you think you fit into all this? I am actually forwarding a movement called “LifE: With a Capital E.” It’s an initiative to help young women identify the next phases in life and I want to show America that women — particularly women of color — should be displayed in a way that’s presentable. That’s my mission. I want to take The Singles Project and use it as an example to beacon and cheer women that are ladies. Nice! Good to see someone will be on a reality show without cursing people out, sloring it up, and throwing glasses and bottles across the dinner table. Will you be watching? You can help Ericka find her man starting tomorrow, Tuesday, August 12 at 10pm ET/PT. Tweet Ericka at @ErickaMPittman and let her know who to date and who to dump!
