People’s Heartbreaking Pleas Are Shared On GoFundMe While some ( but not all ) elected officials continue to feel safe and secure with their regular paycheck, other government workers are out here struggling because of the shutdown . So much so that they have to resort to crowdfunding sites like GoFundMe. According to Newsweek, a GoFundMe spokesperson said that around 1,000 furloughed federal workers have started a crowdfunding account to help cover their living expenses. This makes sense considering the fact that one quarter of all U.S. government departments have been affected by the government shutdown. Some 800,000 federal employees have been furloughed or have been working without pay. A GoFundMe spokesperson, Katherine Cichy, told Reuters on Wednesday that GoFundMe has a dedicated staff who is managing and reviewing the fundraising pages related to the government shutdown. So far the crowdsourcing attempts have exceeded $100,000 since the shutdown started. Alphonzo Breland, a 41-year-old Internal Revenue Service worker from California, told Reuters that he tried to get a night job at a warehouse before trying out GoFundMe on Tuesday. “My heart is always fluttering, my head is racing,” Breland said. “My mortgage is due now, I have until the 15th and then I get a late fee. I had to cancel the tuition deduction for my daughter’s school.” Julie Burr, who described herself as a single mom and contracted government worker in Missouri, wrote on her GoFundMe page , “I’m losing pay every day that this government shutdown continues. I’ve taken on extra shifts at my 2nd job but it isn’t going to pay rent and all my bills. Being a single mom, I’m in panic mode right now. If you’d like to help, any donations are appreciated.” Two sons, Robert and Tristan from Seattle, have even started a GoFundMe page for their mom, who “has not received her paycheck” due to the government shutdown. “My mom is a single mom of 2 boys trying to make ends meet,” they wrote. “My mom does not get help from the state, she works really hard to provide for me and my brother… [We] are reaching out to the world to see if we can raise enough money so that she doesn’t have to worry anymore.“ With stories like this, elected officials and, of course, Trump are really showing their a$$ on how much they care about the American people.

Creflo Dollar Deletes Fundraising Page For Private Jet Creflo Dollar attracted tons of attention after his makeshift GoFundMe page popped up yesterday asking for 200,000 believers to donate $300 each to help him get the top-of-the-line luxury private jet he desperately needs to spread the word of the Lord. Apparently a lot of believers didn’t quite get behind the cause, and threw a lot of choice words Creflo’s way. Keisha says she doesn’t have a relationship with Bill… Keisha Knight Pulliam Fired From Celebrity Apprentice For Not Calling Bill Cosby Via Vulture reports: Keshia Knight Pulliam — best known for her role as adorable little Rudy Huxtable on The Cosby Show — just made her debut as a contestant on reality-TV toxic-waste barge The Celebrity Apprentice…and hoo boy, did things get uncomfortable when Bill Cosby came up as a topic . The season premiere was filmed about a year ago, months before mounting rape allegations irrevocably ruined Cosby’s reputation. So when the cast found out they needed to contact rich friends in order to raise money for a bake sale, it’s understandable that Pulliam’s teammates leaned on her to call up her (as-of-then-relatively-untarnished) former TV dad. Pulliam (who was her team’s project manager) awkwardly declined, cryptically saying she opted instead to reach out to “people I felt can deliver the quickest.” Cosby went unmentioned for much of the rest of the episode. Then came the boardroom. The two teams were summoned to appear before Donald Trump and co-judges Ivanka Trump and Piers Morgan. Pulliam’s team had come up short in their fundraising, and her teammates took aim at her. What followed was an excruciating three minutes for anyone even vaguely aware of the Cosby rape scandal. The Trumps, Morgan, and Pulliam’s team took her to task for not calling Bill Cosby and asking him for money. “Did you call Bill?” the elder Trump asked her. “I did not,” Pulliam said, crying. “I have not talked to Bill Cosby on the phone in I don’t know how long. So for me to pick up the phone, having not talked to you for five years, except for when we run into each other for a Cosby event– I feel that’s not my place to do.” That defense wasn’t good enough for Trump, who went on to fire her, specifically because she refused to call Cosby. “I really believe, if you’d called that gentleman, he would’ve helped you, even if you hadn’t spoken to him in years,” Trump said, “because you were an amazing team with one of the most successful shows ever. So I think it would’ve been a very good call to make for charity. But you have to take responsibility. I think you agree with that.” What’s truly baffling here is why the show’s producers didn’t edit this stuff out, trim it down, or make some kind of statement about it beforehand. Sure, Cosby wasn’t a big topic a year ago, but he’s easily one of the most loathed celebrities in America right now. In light of everything we’ve heard in the past few months, it’s kind of insane to have an extended sequence where a female acquaintance of Bill Cosby’s gets fired from a job because she didn’t beg Bill Cosby to help her get ahead. Keshia Knight Pulliam of The Cosby Show fame made her debut on Celebrity Apprentice on Sunday night, and indirectly ended up getting fired because of her association with it. Specifically, its embattled patriarch, alleged serial rapist Bill Cosby. Because this show is so bad even by reality TV standards, NBC can’t even find a place for it these days, and last night’s premiere was filmed ages so. Many months before the abhorrent avalanche of Bill Cosby rape allegations, as it were, so when the contestants’ task was to raise money for a bake sale? One can understand, during a conversation about dialing up wealthy contacts, why Pulliam’s teammates might ask her to call up her former TV father. Pulliam, the project manager, awkwardly shot that down, opting instead to reach out to “people I felt can deliver the quickest.” Whatever that means. Cosby went unmentioned for the rest of the episode until Keshia’s team lost and went before Donald Trump and co-judges Ivanka Trump and Piers Morgan. The amazing part is that the show made no mention of the fact that this was filmed a year ago (or close to it) or edit down this scene in any real way. A scene in which a female acquaintance of Bill Cosby’s gets fired from a “job” by a boorish boss because she didn’t beg Bill Cosby to help climb the ladder? You can’t make this stuff up. Granted, you can’t make up the fact that this show is even still on, or that Kate Gosselin is starring on it, but you see our point. It was as baffling as it gets. What do you think? Shauna Robertson and Edward Norton are expecting, and soon, reports indicate. The Moonrise Kingdom actor and his fiancee are set to welcome their first child. The baby is coming “any day now,” according to celeb gossip magazine Us! “Ed is really excited for fatherhood . He helped pick out a stroller for the baby!” Norton and Robertson, a Canadian film producer who has worked frequently with Judd Apatow, reportedly got engaged in 2011 after six years of dating. Together, they co-founded the fundraising site CrowdRise, which uses crowd-sourcing and incentives to get people to raise money for various charitable causes. They are extremely private; a rep for the actor had no comment regarding Roberton’s pregnancy, nor was it even publicized that they were expecting. Congratulations in any case to the happy couple!
