The inaugural edition of the MTV Networks awards fest (@MTVOMA), celebrating the art, creativity, personality, technology and migration of music into the digital space, will take place in Las Vegas on April 28 at 11 p.m. ET. The location of the O Music Awards show hasn’t been revealed yet, but organizers promise a wild start that will include a flash mob descending on a “surprise iconic Las Vegas location” that will serve as the backdrop for the program. The live, hour-long online event will include performances from Mumford & Sons, Lupe Fiasco, Lil B, Chiddy Bang, Matt & Kim, Edward Sharpe, Old Crow Medicine Show and Foster the People, along with appearances by Ke$ha, Cee Lo Green, B.o.B, Wiz Khalifa, Robyn and Theophilus London. The extravaganza will be seen not only on MTV.com, VH1.com and LogoTV.com, but also on mobile Web and the MTV News app, as well as MTV’s international websites. Apparently the city of Philadelphia thinks that the perfect age to start giving kids condoms is… age 11!! (PHILADELPHIA) — With the largest rate of teens having sex in the country and the fifth-highest HIV/AIDS rate in that age group, Philadelphia has launched a campaign to reverse those trends with a website that offers mail-order condoms to children as young as 11. A similar effort in Provincetown, Mass., last year stirred up vigorous protest from parents when the school board made condoms available to children of all ages, as long as they went to a school counselor and asked. After the uproar, officials limited access to fifth-graders and up — or those 11 and older. But so far in Philadelphia, the parental reaction has been minimal, according to city health department spokesman Jeff Moran. Though not much data exists on sexual behavior among kids as young as 11, the 2009 CDC Youth Risk Behavior Survey shows that 15 percent of children under 13 have had their first sexual encounter. “I haven’t heard much in way of public outcry — not yet — but I anticipate it,” said Gary Bell, executive director of Bebashi-Transition to Hope, a local nonprofit that works with teens on prevention of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. The main impetus for this program was the reports of disturbing sexual behavior of young children. “We hear from teachers and school counselors and sometimes the principals that kids are cutting school in the afternoon and leaving early to go have orgies — and that’s in middle school,” said Bell. “They get groups together with kids of different genders — sometimes same-sex and sometimes mixed. The parents are not home and so they go there and have sex and trade partners.” He also reported that city teens use different colored lip stick to signal “how far they will go with oral sex with a guy,” according to Bell. “We are hearing about them acting out in school in the bathrooms and the stairways. My father left us when I was young and that did affect my life. If I had a good father in my life, growing up, then I do not think I would have made the mistakes I made. I would not have been lost in love. I would have had a good role model and known what to look for. As it is, I had to find out about marriage from the men I’ve married. I have done it twice and I am not going to do it again. The traditional form of marriage is not for me. I did say, after my first marriage, ‘never again.’ I was burned and I was done. ‘It was crazy, man,’ rapper says of Los Angeles shoot with director Parris. By Matt Elias The Game on the set of “Red Nation” Photo: MTV News On Tuesday night, underneath the 4th Street Bridge in downtown Los Angeles, the Game stood surrounded by smoldering dirt and flashing red lights. Smoke billowed in the background and road flares flickered brightly. It wasn’t the scene of an accident, but the post-apocalyptic set for Game’s music video “Red Nation,” the lead single from his long-awaited R.E.D. Album. “We shot this real rebel scene. I was over there in a bunch of dirt with rocks, and behind the gate were a bunch of guys I couldn’t see, looking all menacing and scary and [with] bats and sticks and poles,” Game told MTV News on the set. “And that was kinda crazy, man. I was in sort of like an army fatigue thing, doing my thing. But it was fun, man, the first shot — had a lot of fun, got real sweaty ’cause I was jumping around, man. A lotta dust and smoke — it was crazy, man.” The clip is helmed by director Parris, whose recent work includes Enrique Iglesias’ “Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You)” and Diddy-Dirty Money’s “Angels.” The track features a collaboration with Lil Wayne and a familiar sample: Zombie Nation’s club classic “Kernkraft 400.” The West Coast rapper was sporting a maroon Mohawk, and while the hairdo is new, his approach to making music videos hasn’t changed. “You know what the funny thing is about the video treatment is that I just go as they tell me — I never read it,” Game said. “And just so you know, I ain’t never read a video treatment for none of my videos.
