The Hangover III Poster Parodies Harry Potter, Is Awesome

The first poster for The Hangover III has been unveiled – and it may look a tad familiar to some movie fans. In a hilarious nod to the final installment of the Harry Potter franchise, the photo uses the same tagline (“It All Ends”) and the same epic staredown between key characters. Although this time it’s Zach Galifianakis’ Alan squaring off against Ken Jeong’s Leslie Chow. Not exactly the same stakes as Harry versus Voldemort. Look for Alan to take center stage in the conclusion to this saga and look for The Hangover III to hit theaters on May 24.

Engorgio! Zach Galifianakis Appears As Portly Harry Potter In ‘The Hangover Part III’ Poster

Zach Galifianakis looks more like Hagrid than Harry Potter in this new poster for The Hangover Part III , but you’ve got to love the references to   The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 .   With  Ken Jeong in the Valdemort slot,  the image seems to bolster reports that this final film in Todd Phillip s comedy trilogy will depart from the formula that the first two films followed.  (Probably a good thing since a lot of critics felt the sequel was a carbon copy of the original.) Back in December, Phillips gave Entertainment Weekly    a hint of the plot saying that Galifianakis’ character, Alan, would be the focus of the third film.”He’s going through a crisis after the death of his father, [and] the Wolfpack is all he has.” Galifianakis also told Rolling Stone that his buds, presumably Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Justin Bartha, break him out of a mental institution. Although Las Vegas appears to be in flames at the bottom of the poster, Phillips has said that Sin City won’t be the only location visited by the Wolf Pack. The Hangover Part III opens on May 24.  A teaser trailer is expected to break tomorrow. Stay tuned. [ EW , Rolling Stone ] Follow Frank DiGiacomo on  Twitter . Follow Movieline on  Twitter .

Zach Attack: Galifianakis Annoys Jen Lawrence & Other Oscar Noms On ‘Between Two Ferns’

After all the tiptoeing and carefully constructed speechifying that has accompanied the Oscar race so far, it’s fun to see Jennifer Lawrence, Naomi Watts , Christoph Waltz , Anne Hathaway and Amy Adams engaging in the comedy equivalent of a WWE wrestling match with Zach Galifianakis on a special “Oscar edition” of his   Funny or Die talk show, Between Two Ferns .   Galifianakis does a pretty wonderful job here of using absurdity to send up the many absurd and inane elements of awards season. Hearing him describe the episode as  “A special Oscar insight to Oscar nominees and all of their Oscar buzzness around them” made me laugh and wince at the same time. And if there is a part two to this, I hope that Joaquin (The Oscars are “bullshit”)  Phoenix  is one of the guests. What a conversation they could have — even if it’s brief. In the meantime, pay attention to the details: Lawrence’s surly “you shouldn’t eat any more pudding” remark to her host is a thing of beauty, as is Waltz’s comment to the woman who comes to collect him after Galifianakis plays him off with a Staples “Easy” button. Hathaway’s flirty drunk act is also entertaining, as is the onscreen text that identifies her as “Anne Halfway,” the star of a “French movie.”  And Adams’ line about farting on her tits is almost as good as her hand-job scene in The Master.  [ Funny or Die ] Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter. Miley Cyrus Wedding: Not Going Down This Weekend

Miley Cyrus loves being a fiancee . But she isn’t ready to be a bride just yet, despite a mysterious Tweet posted over the weekend. “Super lazy Sunday!” the star wrote yesterday, adding: “Can’t wait for next week! It’ll be filled with happiness.” Naturally, such enthusiasm led many to believe that Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth were planning to tie the knot in just a few days, but the actor’s rep has come out and shot down that notion. Liam is filming a movie in New York and will only be “back in LA for a night next week to receive an award from Australians in Film on the 27th,” the Hemsworth insider told Gossip Cop. Still, she may not be walking down any aisles too soon, but Miley sounds on top of the world these days. She also Tweeted yesterday: “Life is to short, stop compromising your happiness. Happiness is a right, a privilege that you deserve.” We’re pretty sure rights and privileges are completely opposing concepts, but let’s not nit-pick. Keep smiling, Miles!

Zach Galifianakis and Quinn Lundberg: Engaged!

Forget The Hangover . Zach Galifianakis will be celebrating his very own real-life bachelor party in the near future. Celebuzz confirms that the funny actor is now engaged to Quinn Lundberg and that the couple has even sent out invitations already for a August 11 wedding. “The wedding invite is very Zach,” a source tells the site. “While it has the formal and standard details of who, what, when, where – including Zach’s full name, Zachary Knight Galifianakis, and his fiancee’s, Mary Quinn Lundberg – it is also very funny. “Zach included a drawing of himself and his bride-to-be” on the invite. He made sure he looked like a little troll, while Quinn is a stunning tall blonde princess.” Lundberg is the co-founder of the charity Growing Voices and we wish this couple a bright, long, healthy future together!
