One of the main reasons why the Philadelphia Eagles pulled off the win over the Washington Redskins on Sunday was because of an impressive performance by running back LeSean McCoy–who finished the game with 126 rushing yards to go along with one touchdown. In fact, McCoy was so fired up about the win–he gave head Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Red Zone Talk Discovery Date : 16/10/2011 22:13 Number of articles : 2
David Stern has been making his media rounds today and said that he’s doubtful about a the NBA coming back by Christmas. Damn, Damn, DAMN!!!! Commissioner David Stern said his “gut” tells him there will be no NBA basketball on Christmas without a labor agreement by Tuesday. That day, when owners and players are scheduled to meet with a federal mediator, is a “really big deal,” he added. Owners will then open two days of board meetings Wednesday, and without an agreement to bring them, Stern believes further cancellations are coming. “Right now, Tuesday, Tuesday, Tuesday, just before my owners come into town, having brought in the labor relations committee and Billy (Hunter) having brought in his executive committee, it’s time to make the deal,” Stern said Thursday. “If we don’t make it on Tuesday, my gut — this is not in my official capacity of canceling games — but my gut is that we won’t be playing on Christmas Day.” Stern canceled the first two weeks of the regular season on Monday when the sides couldn’t reach a deal before a deadline he had set. Christmas is traditionally on of the first big days of the NBA season. This year’s three-game schedule features the NBA Finals rematch between the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat. Look on the bright side: LeBron won’t blow a game on Christmas Day if the game is canceled! It’s like a Christmas miracle! Well, actually, it just really sucks. Source

Rain delay in ALCS game forces schedule change for Wednesday’s and Thursday’s shows. By Gil Kaufman L.A. Reid, Nicole Scherzinger, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell on “The X Factor” Photo: FOX Simon Cowell’s “X Factor” has survived more modest ratings than the brash British judge promised for his reality singing show. And given his tenacity and the amount of money piled up to promote the American version of his hit British competition show — not to mention the $5 million prize — it seems like it would take an act of God to knock the “Factor” train off the track. Well, that’s exactly what happened on Wednesday night when the show’s final 32 were slated to visit the judges’ homes and commune with such special mentors as Rihanna . The American League Championship Series game between the Detroit Tigers and the Texas Rangers was originally slated to begin at 4:19 p.m., but the pounding rain didn’t let up until after 5:30. By the time the grounds crew began prepping the field, the game had been delayed by two hours and 13 minutes. That already put the 8 p.m. start time for “Factor” into jeopardy. But add in the fact that the game went into extra innings after ending in a 3-3 tie after nine and you had a serious scheduling headache for Fox. By the fifth inning, it was announced that “Factor” would not air on Wednesday night, but would return to its regular slot on Thursday (October 13). The current plan calls for last night’s episode to air on Thursday and Thursday’s show to air on Sunday. That’s all fine and good (assuming this afternoon’s game is not delayed by rain as well), but if a game seven is forced between the two teams, “Factor” may have to shuffle again, meaning Fox might have to air three episodes of the show in the same week to keep things on track. As if all of this shuffling wasn’t confusing enough (and way frustrating for “Factor” fanatics ), the third round of the judges’ home visits will air on Tuesday, which is another switch from the Wednesday-Thursday schedule . To refresh your memory, after the grueling “X Factor” boot camp shows , L.A. Reid is mentoring the boys (Brennin Hunt, Brian Bradley, Chris Rene , etc.), Simon Cowell has the girls (Rachel Crow, Tiah Tolliver, Drew Ryniewicz, etc.), Nicole Scherzinger will deal with the over-30s (Dexter Haygood, Josh Krajcik, LeRoy Bell, etc.) and Paula Abdul is corralling the groups ( 2squar’d , the Brewer Boys, the Stereo Hogzz). After visiting the judge’s homes (or a neutral location of their choice), the 16 semifinalists will vie for a spot in the upcoming live shows. Ben Stiller hosted last night’s episode of SNL , and while he didn’t quite bring the game that Alec Baldwin and Melissa McCarthy did in weeks past, he did bring an old friend: Derek Zoolander. Stiller revived the titular male model from the 2001 comedy during Weekend Update, where Bill Hader’s Stefon claimed him as a date. Hope you’re prepared to handle Derek’s “cold coffee” face on this pleasant Sunday morning.
Does Lil Tunechi have a love thing for This Fighting Irish banger ?? It seems Lil Wayne has a new girlfriend. Weezy’s said to be stepping out with none other than Skylar Diggins, the Notre Dame women’s college basketball star. The two were apparently seen together at a WNBA game last night. …Aside from the obvious age difference (Skylar is 21 years old, Weezy is 29), is this a good match? Possibly. Skylar is certainly a superstar in the sports world, and with Wayne at her side, well, she’s even more famous. Hopefully all the attention won’t throw her off her game. This woman can play some hoops! Lil Wayne is a huge Skylar Diggins fan. Back in April 2011, shortly after Skylar put up 28 points in Notre Dame’s battle with UConn, Weezy donned her number 4 Fighting Irish jersey on stage during a concert in Indiana. Was this a gesture of romantic interest, or simply a fan being a fan? With the new report linking these two as a couple, the answer now seems pretty obvious. Skylar is definitely a banger, but we think she can do WAY better than this baby-momma machine! Source
Hugh Jackman flick’s ‘well-staged’ fighting sequences and father-son spats leave critics ‘pleasantly surprised.’ By Josh Wigler Hugh Jackman and Evangeline Lilly in Real Steel Photo: DreamWorks Pictures Moviegoers have proven their affection for gigantic robots smashing the ever-loving sparkplugs out of each other in the heat of war — thanks for that, Michael Bay! — but machines beating each other into a tarry pulp purely for sport in the middle of a heartfelt family drama? That’s something the Autobots and Decepticons have yet to cover. But it seems that “Real Steel,” from “Night at the Museum” director Shawn Levy and “Wolverine” leading man Hugh Jackman, is more than meets the eye. Those who originally targeted Levy’s first foray into the action arena as nothing more than a big-screen Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots have seemingly been proven wrong, with critics praising “Real Steel” for its strong performances, moving story and, yes, the primal pleasure derived from watching two cybernetic gladiators tear each other to bits. Read on for a veritable scrap heap of “Real Steel” reviews: The Story “Taking place in a not-too-distant future that’s neither utopian nor dystopian, but kind of semi-topian, ‘Real Steel’ follows Charlie Kenton (Hugh Jackman), a former boxer who participates in the sport of robot fighting. (According to the ‘Steel’ timeline, human boxers will get out of the game soon because they can’t hit hard enough to make audiences happy — so enjoy those humans pounding on each other while you still can.) In a world where there’s no more human boxing, Charlie is a charmer/degenerate/bum lugging around a scrappy bot who fights at state fairs. He’s not at the level of ‘league fights’ — you know, the World Robot Boxing League, which is known, because it must be, as ‘the show.’ ” — Linda Holmes, NPR The Man and his Boy “As Charlie, Jackman is mostly surface gloss — he knows how to work a greasy tee and a bad attitude, glaring and growling at everyone. He softens slightly with [Evangeline] Lilly’s Bailey (so nice to see her bruised, buff beauty back since ‘Lost’ wrapped). But it is with [Dakota] Goyo that Jackman warms up. Their father-son spats, truly some of the film’s best sparring, is what gives it heart. Not ‘Rocky’ heart, or ‘Raging Bull’ heart, mind you, but ‘Real’ enough.” — Betsy Sharkey, Los Angeles Times The ‘Bot Bouts “The robot, despite its unyielding metallic expression and the glowing blue eyes, is surprisingly endearing, especially when he’s doing the pre-match two-step with Max. … As a ‘sparring’ robot meant only for practice fighting with other robots, he’s a long-shot contender in the ‘Rocky’ mold. But with ex-boxer Charlie’s moves — transmitted via voice command software — he’s suddenly got a shot at the title against the unbeaten Zeus. And, as in the original ‘Rocky’ mold … well, that would be too much of a spoiler. … Lovers of blood sport action (or perhaps crankcase oil in this case) are going to enjoy the well-staged fighting sequences, which are tension-filled and exciting and will have many writhing in their seats.” — Bruce DeMara, Toronto Star The Mechanic Message “As much as ‘Real Steel’ is an escapist pop confection, it forces you to consider the evolving relationship between humans and machines at a time when robots are replacing people in the workplace and in war. The movie doesn’t question our ever-deepening love affair with technology and foolish trust in it. As increasing numbers of people are kept mobile through spare parts, whether flesh, plastic or metal, we are ourselves becoming more droidlike every year. Behind it all is a collective fantasy of invulnerability, omnipotence and eternal life. ‘Real Steel’ at least acknowledges that machines require maintenance to be superhuman.” — Stephen Holden, New York Times The Verdict ” ‘Real Steel’ is a real movie. It has characters, it matters who they are, it makes sense of its action, it has a compelling plot. This is the sort of movie, I suspect, young viewers went to the ‘Transformers’ movies looking for. Readers have told me they loved and identified with their Transformers toys as children. [The robot] Atom must come close to representing their fantasies. Sometimes you go into a movie with low expectations and are pleasantly surprised.” — Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times Check out everything we’ve got on “Real Steel.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . A planned Jay, DMX and Ja Rule supergroup was halted due to a quiet feud, Gotti reveals on ‘RapFix Live.’ By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Irv Gotti Photo: Natasha Chandel/ MTV News In the late 1990s, there were few rappers bigger than Jay-Z , DMX and Ja Rule . Separately, each artist crafted a catalog of hits, toured the country and sold millions of records. Now, imagine a supergroup comprised of the three. Well, that was Irv Gotti’s vision, but the three alpha males only recorded a handful of songs and just couldn’t get it together. “Jay and X did not like each other at all. And it was always competitive,” Irv revealed when he appeared on Wednesday’s “RapFix Live.” DMX has recently voiced his disdain for Hov , but in the late 1990s, it appeared that the two were on a unified front. They frequently collaborated and even toured together, but according to Gotti, things weren’t always as they seemed. It all stemmed from an early battle, circa 1994, between Hov and the Dog , years before any one of them broke through. Though DMX was used to winning most of his battles decisively, nearly every account of the showdown revealed that it ended in a tie. “X hated Jay because it was the one battle that he said it wasn’t absolutely sure in everyone’s mind that he won,” Irv said. The quiet feud even spilled onto collaborative records. In 1995, Jigga, X and Ja Rule all appeared on Queens, New York, rapper Mic Geronimo’s “Time to Build” track. By the time Hov got to the studio, DMX had already laid down the song’s closing verse — a top honor for any rapper. “Jay goes, ‘OK, he’s closing the record? Yo, you think he’s better than me?’ ” Gotti recalled Hovito asking. Gotti remembers Jay feeling slighted, and in retaliation, he aimed his verse — which he wrote on the spot in 10 minutes with no pen or pad, directly at DMX. There were key lines in Jigga’s verse that Irv believes were direct references to the original battle between the two titans: “F— what you n—as kickin’ on the mic/ Chicken like you don’t know what an ass whippin’ feels like.” “His whole verse, he’s sh–tin’ on my man,” Irv said of the “Empire State of Mind” MC’s bars. “Now, X got problems with me.” DMX and Jay-Z continued to collaborate, and alongside Ja Rule, they recorded “Mudergram” in 1998 and “It’s Murder” a year later, but nothing else as a trio. “With those three guys, I felt very special,” Irv said. “Here it is, in hindsight, three guys that were really at the top of their game at one time or another, and they all my friends.” Imagine that. It was almost a foregone conclusion, but former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has announced, officially, that she will not enter the 2012 presidential race. Palin’s announcement comes one day after New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie affirmed his decision not to jump in despite Republican leaders urging him to. No leaders really wanted Palin to, but she’s like a celebrity now, so the media still pays attention to her. Here’s what she told supporters in a letter: “I believe I can be more effective in a decisive role to help elect other true public servants to office – from the nation’s governors to congressional seats and the presidency.” “I will continue driving the discussion for freedom and free markets, including in the race for president where candidates must embrace immediate action toward energy independence through domestic development of conventional energy sources, along with renewables.” “We must reduce tax burdens and onerous regulations that kill American industry, and our candidates must always push to minimize government to strengthen and allow the private sector to create jobs.” “I apologize to those who are disappointed in this decision.” Anyone? Hello? Palin told Fox News she chose to send a letter over holding a press conference because she wanted to “put the marker down and say ‘no I’m not running.'” Republicans have been searching for an alternative to the polished, but less than inspiring former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for the entire year. Many have been disappointed by Texas Gov. Rick Perry and have given a second look to Georgia businessman Herman Cain , who is surging in polls. In any case, the field is set now. Romney and Perry remain likely frontrunners, but at this stage of the game you can’t rule out Cain or perhaps others. Should Sarah Palin have run?
