Krayzie Bone returns for Ohio Homecoming, also featuring Drake. By Rob Markman Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Photo: Valerie Macon/ Getty Images Things haven’t been harmonious with Bone Thugs lately. In April, Krayzie Bone announced that he was leaving Bone Thugs-N-Harmony , but after three short months, Kray, Layzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone and Flesh-n-Bone will reunite onstage at the Ohio Homecoming concert on Saturday. The concert, which will also feature Drake and local Ohio artists such as Stalley and Ray Cash, will double as a celebration of Cleveland’s 215th birthday. “They ain’t seen us, all five, since Flesh came out [of prison in 2008],” Bizzy Bone told MTV News. “We ain’t been able to really put on a showcase for ’em, and this is a beautiful platform. It’s gonna be thousands and thousands and thousands of people there, and it’s Cleveland’s birthday.” Bone Thugs got their start in 1994 with the EP Creepin on ah Come Up and became certified stars with their multiplatinum 1995 single “Tha Crossroads.” Through the years, however, the Cleveland group has experienced its fair share of ups and downs. First, there was Flesh-n-Bone’s incarceration in 2000, then Bizzy left the group during the promotional tour for the quintet’s BTNHResurrection album. To the casual fan, it might seem as if Krayzie’s recent departure is just another chapter in the group’s tumultuous history. Layzie, however, downplayed the drama. “I can kind of understand with recent activity and everything why they would probably think that we wouldn’t come together for something so big like 215 years — Cleveland’s birthday,” he said. “Over the years, we proved ourselves. OK, we break up to make up, but we proved to be a family that comes together throughout anything.” So, will the upcoming show bring Bone Thugs back together for good? Wish Bone wouldn’t say, but did share that he thinks BTNH’s status has been blown out of proportion. “We’re not just band members that were put together: We’re real family,” Wish said. “It’s a shame that sometimes we go through things like anybody else but by us being in the public eye, it gets magnified about a million times. It makes it worse than it really is, but that’s part of the game … No matter what, we’re going to come together for something that’s very important to us.” What do you predict the future holds for Bone Thugs? Did you know that Vitamin D is really important for your general health, especially for African Americans, but most people are lacking it in some way. Sunlight is the best way to get Vitamin D, but with people spending less time outdoors than they have in the past, it’s not shocking that people need to step up their game and get more Vitamin D into their system. Why’s Vitamin D so important and what does it do for your body? The benefits of having lots of Vitamin D in your blood are: bone health, fighting multiple diseases, and lots of protection against heart attacks and strokes, as well as other things like immune system health. Some symptoms of not having enough Vitamin D are: chronic pain, fatigue, depression, and osteoporosis, just to name a few. The newest recommendation for Vitamin D consumption is 1,000 to 2,000 units daily, which is 5 to 10 times higher than previous recommendations due to the low ramifications being severe for not being sufficient. This is a health risk that should definitely have more focus in the news media, as it’s important to keep your immune system up to par and stay healthy, especially in the Summer heat! Chris Brown has used homophobic slurs before, but says that’s in the past, and a recent report claiming he used them during a basketball game is BS. A day after Star and Radar reported that Brown went off on another anti-gay rant , the oft-maligned R&B singer is sounding off, and he’s not happy. Brown’s rep calls Star ‘s tale utterly false, saying he wasn’t even ballin’ that day and the photo Star used was months old – and from a video shoot. A totally fictitious article ran in the current Star magazine accusing our client Chris Brown of doing something that he did not do,” says Brown’s rep . “He got ticked off when things didn’t go his way during the game, saying, ‘That’s gay!’ and ‘You’re a f—–t a–!’ to the other players,” Star claimed. Brown’s side of the story? A little different. “He spent the entire day with dozens of members of the production team filming the video for ‘Body to Body’ at 1870 Sunset Paza in West Hollywood.” ” Star accompanied the fabricated story with a photo of Chris playing basketball in New York,s taken on the day of his F.A.M.E. CD release in March.” “Chris Brown’s management is considering taking appropriate legal action. We stand behind our client and want to set the record straight. This did not happen.” We believe him, and are glad to hear it.
It’s another new Batman: Arkham City trailer, this one based on the Riddler, who appears to have hidden his riddles all through Gotham much as he did Arkham Asylum . It also appears that there are some more dire consequences involved in solving the puzzles this time, or maybe its just another exceedingly well don trailer, or maybe I’m just so excited for this game I’m making shit up. MTV News gives fans a preview of the band’s comeback single. By James Montgomery Evanescence’s Amy Lee Photo: MTV News It’s been nearly four years since Evanescence have released a single , and during that time, it appeared very likely they’d never release another. But on Monday (July 11), the wait — and all the drama that surrounded it — finally came to an end, because Evanescence are officially back, with a roaring new single called “What You Want.” Last week, MTV News traveled to Nashville’s Blackbird Studio, where the band were putting the finishing touches on their upcoming, self-titled album (which their label, Wind-Up Records, just informed us is now due October 11 — one week later than previously reported), and they gave us an exclusive first listen at a handful of tracks, including “Want.” And now, we’re going to give you a sneak peek. Frontwoman Amy Lee had previously described the song as being “really different” from anything in the band’s back catalog, and, as you can tell, she wasn’t kidding. “What You Want” is most definitely a departure, quite possibly the heaviest song Evanescence have ever made. The guitars buzz like a hornet’s nest, the drums are pounding and primal, and the strings (arranged by Beck’s dad, David Campbell) swell and stab. Throw in a positively massive chorus and Lee’s vocal pyrotechnics, and you’ve got a song that’s powerful enough to shake rock radio to its very foundation. And that’s pretty amazing, considering its simple roots. “[Bassist] Tim [McCord] and [guitarist] Terry [Balsamo] and I wrote that song at my house in New York. We were just jamming, like, recording demos, and obviously the song has grown a lot since then, with everyone else,” Lee told us. “For me, it was — and I need to remember this, so I can apply it in the future — it wasn’t trying so hard to be some epic, massive chorus. I was just doodling around on the piano and the guys were like, ‘Do that. Whatever you just did, that’s an awesome melody.’ And I was like, ‘Really?’ Sometimes you just need your friends to be like, ‘Do that!’ ” Though it came from humble origins, “What You Want” deals with heady concepts, a trait that’s readily apparent throughout Evanescence’s new album. “It’s about freedom — that’s definitely a constant theme on the record — but, it’s like Evanescence, and me, and my relationship with the music and the fans, and coming to that [realization] of ‘This is what I’m supposed to do … I want to do this,’ ” Lee said. “And when it says, ‘Remember who you really are,’ that’s exactly everything you could assume it means.” For the time being, Evanescence fans are just going to have to make do with a snippet of “What You Want” (the full single is set to premiere in early August, Wind-Up said). But rest assured, you’re going to be hearing the song a lot in the near future, because, as Lee said, it’s not just the band’s comeback single, it’s also the beginning of a mission — one Evanescence are taking very seriously. “I feel like, not that I’m trying to do what’s important for the music industry, I’m doing what I want — we’re doing what we love. But, at the same time, it’s so refreshing for us to play music that we want to hear,” she explained. “It rocks, and not that there’s nothing going on that does, but less and less; that’s definitely not what’s dominating the airwaves. And it would be so amazing and it’s totally our dream to have that happen for us; not even just for us, but, like, we want to hear rock music again. “I think that, as a band, we’re really strong,” she continued. “Everybody’s just playing at the top of their game right now, they’re just putting it all in … and it was, like, that mentality the whole time we were working. Like, whatever it takes to make the most amazing thing possible.” What do you think of the “What You Want” sneak peek? Share your reviews in the comments! Related Videos Evanescence: First Listen
