‘Unknown’ Star Liam Neeson On Losing His Memory … For Real

‘It was quite frightening, actually,’ Oscar winner says of his amateur boxing days. By Kara Warner Liam Neeson Photo: MTV News Liam Neeson’s performance in “Taken” accomplished several impressive feats. One of them is a $145 million haul at the box office, and the other is that Neeson, previously known for more dramatic, actor-type roles, can seriously kick ass onscreen. In his new movie “Unknown,” Neeson plays Dr. Martin Harris, an American man who has traveled to Berlin, Germany, to participate in an international conference. Almost immediately upon arrival, he is involved in a car accident and wakes up in a hospital with no memory of who he is or why he is in the foreign city. As his memory slowly returns, he starts to uncover oddities about his true identity. When MTV News caught up with the Oscar winner recently, we found that Neeson hasn’t just played someone who suffered memory loss, he experienced it firsthand during his younger years as an amateur boxer. “It was quite frightening, actually,” Neeson recalled. “I was about 16 or 17 and it was actually a fight I won on points. And I remember coming out and my father saying, ‘Get your clothes on,’ and I remember thinking, ‘Clothes? What do you mean clothes?’ ‘Dressing room,’ they were alien words to me,” he explained. “And after about three minutes, I gradually came back and thought, ‘Whoops, I don’t like this, I better get out of this game.’ ” Regarding the physical demands of “Unknown,” as well as “Taken” for that matter, Neeson said that despite many people being surprised at the impressive physicality he displays on film, he’s always kept himself in fighting form. “Oh yeah, for many, many years, I’ve always done that. I just never advertised it,” he said. “Everybody seems to advertise it now, you know? ‘How many hours did ya do at the gym?’ ‘Oh I just did the five [hours].’ ‘Oh, I did five and a half.’ Its sort of like, well f—.” “It’s all over, it’s a whole cult thing now,” he said of fitness fanatics. “But I do it in my own quiet way. I just get on with it and do it.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Unknown.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

A Candid, Emotional Interview With Watson, Jeopardy!’s Winning Supercomputer

As you’ve no doubt heard by now, a computer named Watson scored a runaway triumph in this week’s Jeopardy! IBM Challenge, defeating two of the game show’s most legendary champions — Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter — en route to a $1 million prize. (IBM will donate the winnings to charity.) But the road to victory was not without a few sizable bumps, and in an exclusive chat this morning with Movieline, Watson discussed some of the difficulties encountered on his way to the finish line — and how his real challenge begins now.

Beautiful. Sublime. Stunning. These are not usually words I usually associate with video game trailers (though there are exceptions [1]), but they could all be used to describe the newest trailer for Dead Island. Techland is the developer behind the game, but it’s had a pretty rough history; it was originally supposed to be released way back in 2008 on PC and on Xbox 360. Nonetheless, you can bet people… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : /Film Discovery Date : 16/02/2011 22:50 Number of articles : 3

Star Jones Says NeNe Is An Embarrassment To Black Women Everywhere

Lawd. We might have to get Maya Angelou to come in and Al Sharpton this thing up. Star Jones recently sat down for an interview with BlackVoices.com. And once again, asked about NeNe’s out of pocket a**, Star stayed classy… and said what every Black woman has been saying since it became CNN-level news that NeNe wouldn’t put a Star bonfire out with a spit ball. The show is getting a ton of pre-press mainly because Nene Leakes has been doing interviews about you. What went wrong with you and NeNe? This actually saddens me. Black women trashing other black women all for the sake of personal aggrandizement. When the cast was first announced, I was both excited and concerned. Excited that this was going to be the most diverse cast in prime-time reality programming and concerned because the media immediately started the drumroll of “can this many black women get along?” The four of us actually chatted about the unique opportunity we had to influence the perception of black women and the way we interact. We each brought something different to the show, so I had hoped we could avoid falling into the typical “snake charmer in your face loud bombastic black woman” stereotypical box that was expected. Some of us were more successful at our quest than others. I knew I wanted to approach the game intelligently, professionally and strategically, while keeping in mind my true purpose for being there – winning money for my charity. You have a lot of black female friends – Vanessa Bell Calloway, Natalie Cole and Holly Robinson Peete to name a few. Were you surprised at Nene’s personal attack on you and the implications that you don’t gel with other black women? Who are you telling! You know my girlfriend gatherings are legendary! But you’ll see this season on the show, at some point Nene attacked all the black women on the show and scared the other women to death with her aggressive approach. But to be fair, it is an approach that works for her kind of television interaction, as evidenced by the great ratings they generate. But it isn’t an approach that works in the professional environment and it isn’t an approach that most sisters use in interacting with each other. I would hope, as she becomes more exposed to a variety of professional situations, she will tone down the vitriolic emotional reactions and learn to express herself in manner that is more reflective of the majority of black women in America. Someone please tell NeNe there’s no need to “respond.” Just take the L. Read the full interview here

Steve Harvey Learns About Pot on Family Feud

For a guy who began his standup career in the drug-fueled ’80s, and who’s accused of rampant adultery by his ex, Steve Harvey apparently doesn’t get out much. The Family Feud host was thrown for a loop this week by an answer to the following question on the game show: What is something that gets passed around? When a contestant buzzed in and hilariously answered, “A joint,” Steve was stunned. No, really, we don’t think that shocked was feigned. It gets better, too. Watch the clip below to see if that answer actually registered on the Feud survey, and whether a rival contestant, who went the opposite approach, topped it: Steve Harvey on Family Feud: Pass the …

Actually, I have no idea if Jimmy Smits/Bail Organa will actually be showing up in Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars . However, even if he isn’t, I don’t think I’ll miss him — the game looks just as fun as the previous Lego Star Wars games, but much more epic. Some of those battles look genuinely intense — if I was a little kid, I’d be totally freaking out. The Game Recap: Sticking To The Formula

There is only one way to play ‘the game’—by the rules. Rule number one for Season 4 of “The Game” is to: Stick to the Formula. After watching episode 4, there is no question that the humor and comradery sprinkled with a bit of drama, as seen in previous seasons, is what fans love about the show. I don’t know if it’s just the Kelly-Pitts-lover in me talking, but last night’s episode brought me back to the good ol’ days. Check out the highlights at MadameNoire.com

Game: Match the ‘Big’ One-Word Theme to the Film of the Best Director Nominee

Looks like reduction is the name of the game today! Variety has just asked all five Best Director nominees to sum up their entire film with a one word theme. Well, all of the nominees except David Fincher, who, true to form , had his editors chime in instead. Anyway, just to get your brains fired up in the morning, take a shot at matching each one word theme to the films, which actually have quite a bit overlap… you know, when they are reduced to one word.

Smooching pals Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber stroll hand in hand on a leisurely Sunday afternoon in Santa Monica, Calif. Selena Gomez, 18, and Justin Bieber, 16, have continued to praise each other in the media while insisting they#39;re nothing more than friends. Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber went public with their long-rumored romance on Super Bowl Sunday. Although Bieber was featured (as an older, bearded man) in a buzzed-about Best Buy ad broadcast during the game, he was far, far away
