The Situation Hopes To Go From ‘Jersey Shore’ To Big Screen

‘I would have to say that I’m looking forward to possibly doing a movie or so,’ he hints to MTV News at the American Music Awards. By Gil Kaufman, with reporting by Tim Kash Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino Photo: Todd Williamson/ WireImage He’s got his own clothing line, a book, a couple of moneymaking trademark phrases, a hilarious abstinence commercial with Bristol Palin , a hit TV show, a couple mill in the bank and, of course, those abs. But what “Jersey Shore” breakout star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino really wants to do is … act. MTV News caught up with the former underwear model on the red carpet at Sunday night’s American Music Awards , where the Sitch told us he’s got his eye on jumping to the big screen. “In the upcoming year, I would have to say that I’m looking forward to possibly doing a movie or so,” Sorrentino said. Asked what kind or roles he’s coveting, the onetime “Dancing With the Stars” contestant teased, “I want to surprise everybody. They might be coming to something soon.” While an action movie would seem to be the way to go for the buff GTL fanatic, Sitch was cagey on that angle, saying it could be a shoot-’em-up situation — or something entirely different. “It could be something in the middle. I don’t know. … Hopefully it works out. Other than that, there could be also some reality in the future as well. I’m right in between, I don’t know. I’m like in college right now, about to graduate. I don’t know what’s going on. Maybe I’ll stay another year, maybe I’ll graduate, I don’t know.” In the meantime, he’s focused on hawking his book, “Here’s the Situation: A Guide to Creeping on Chicks, Avoiding Grenades, and Getting in Your GTL on the Jersey Shore,” and he recently told MTV News that the sky’s the limit for him. “I’ve realized what I want to do in life in that I just love being in front of the camera,” he said. “I love being an entertainer. It’s almost been a lifelong journey to find out what I wanted to do. I’m so happy to be here, and everything’s been going great.” What kind of movie would you like to see the Situation in? Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy: A Track-By-Track Guide

Check out an in-depth examination of Yeezy’s new masterwork. By Jayson Rodriguez Kanye West Photo: Shirlaine Forrest/ Getty Images Kanye West’s new album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy , is a return to form of sorts for the mercurial star on the most basic of levels — as a producer and an MC — following a departure with his last project, 2008’s 808s & Heartbreak , a soul-baring effort soaked in personal pain and filtered through AutoTune. With My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy , the Chicago artist injects who he once was — a hyperactive musician, moody celebrity and gifted rapper — with the imprints of who he has become after his seclusion and re-emergence following the infamous Taylor Swift incident: an unwavering talent tarnished by controversy but resurgent in his refusal to be defined by anything other than himself. The set, Kanye’s fifth studio album, is an arrogant, remorseful, refreshing probe of perhaps the most complicated figure in pop culture today. The fact that West is the one examining himself makes it all the more brilliant and transparent. Here, MTV News delivers song-by-song crib notes to ‘Ye’s deep dive into his psyche. 1. “Dark Fantasy” On the leadoff number, West reasserts the lyrical acumen he displayed on his first three albums but doesn’t surrender the demonstrative narrative he uncorked on 808s & Heartbreak . Over the robust production of No I.D., Mike Dean and the RZA, which includes a driving organ, tickling keys and feathery choir, West bridges the storyline from his 2009 VMAs incident to his resilient return. And like that, he’s off. Illuminating Rhymes: “The plan was to drink until the pain over, but what’s worse the pain or the hangover?” 2. “Gorgeous” (featuring Kid Cudi and Raekwon) Yeezy is as boastful as he’s ever been on “Gorgeous,” but while his lyrics are razor sharp, the production here is softer, resulting in a melodic finger wag to his naysayers rather than searing jabs. Illuminating Rhymes: “But this pimp is at the top of Mount Olympus/ Ready for the world’s games/ This is my Olympics/ We make ’em say ‘ho’ cause the game is so pimpish/ Choke a ‘South Park’ writer with a fish stick.” 3. “Power” The track that started ‘Ye’s comeback is as stirring months later here as it was when it first leaked to the Web. “Power” is one of the few previously released gems that the producer didn’t tweak for the album version. The record is unflinching, uncompromising, and undoubtedly ‘Ye’s mantra for more than just the current year. Illuminating Rhymes: “I just needed time alone with my own thoughts, got treasures in my mind/ But couldn’t open up my vaults … Reality is catching up with me/ Taking my inner child/ I’m fighting for custody.” 4. “All of the Lights (Interlude)”/ 5. “All of the Lights” A smattering of a song with upward of 10 additional singers, “All of the Lights” is as fearless a track as West has ever made. The rapper is hardly the most present vocalist on this percolating storytelling number, sharing the spotlight with Rihanna, among others. But as a producer he’s front and center — his orchestration is the driving force behind this sonic train. Illuminating Rhymes: “Restraining order, can’t see my daughter/ Her mother, brother, grandmother hate me in that order.” 6. “Monster” (featuring Rick Ross, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj and Bon Iver) A booming collaboration where each MC pushes the other beyond the brink of one-upmanship until Minaj obliterates the track with a hodgepodge of styling — from her flow to her vocal inflection and varied tonal cadences. Illuminating Rhymes: “Yeah, I’m in that Tonka the color of Willy Wonka/ You could be the king but watch the queen conquer.” 7. “So Appalled” (featuring Jay-Z, Pusha T, CyHi the Prynce, Swizz Beatz and the RZA) This all-star cipher is a backpackers dream as ‘Ye’s G.O.O.D. Music soldiers fire away with resolve. But the Brooklyn icon, Jay-Z, steals the show with an edgy verse dismissing his critics with a 16 that’s as pushy as a New Yorker during rush hour. Please, Hammer, stop replying. Illuminating Rhymes: “I’m so appalled, I might buy the mall/ Just to show niggas how much I have in store.” 8. “Runaway” (featuring Pusha T) The emotional centerpiece of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy , “Runaway” gets a face-lift from the radio version with West returning the MP samples he blasted onto the track during his memorable 2010 MTV Video Music Awards performance. Pusha’s sneering guest spot remains the same, but in addition to the sampled tics that begin the track, the Clipse MC’s verse is sandwiched on the back end with an elongated outro. Illuminating Rhymes: “Never was much of a romantic, I could never take the intimacy/ And I know I did damage, ’cause the look in your eyes is killing me.” 10. “Hell of a Life” A brooding number with synth-heavy production and frenetic keys strokes. Here, West is all bravado in his hedonistic pursuits. Illuminating Rhymes: “One day I’m gonna marry a porn star/ We’ll have a big-ass crib and a long yard.” 11. “Blame Game” (featuring John Legend) The most melancholy track on the album, “Blame Game” finds West turning inward as he pensively dissects a deteriorating relationship — doling out blame between himself and his lady before ultimately assigning fault to their fading connection. Illuminating Rhymes: “I know that you were somewhere doing your thing/ And when the phone called, it just rang and rang/ You ain’t pick up but the phone accidentally called me back and I heard the whole thing.” 12. “Lost in the World” (featuring Bon Iver) / 13. “Who Will Survive in America” The denouement of Fantasy is a rollicking effort, thundering in its production and chock-full of proclamations from West that lead to more questions than answers after an hour of listening. The track caps off an exhilarating audio experience that’s sonically groundbreaking and lyrically thrilling. The final selection, a Gil Scott-Heron spoken-word excerpt, slowly punctuates the artful track with a stunning statement that seeks to leave West’s fantasy ride open for more life to be lived rather than bringing it to a conclusion. Illuminating Rhymes: “You’re my devil, you’re my angel/ You’re my heaven, you’re my hell/ You’re my now, you’re my forever/ You’re my freedom, you’re my jail/ You’re my lies, you’re my truth/ You’re my war, you’re my truce/ You’re my question, you’re my proof/ You’re my stress, you’re my masseuse.” Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: Kanye West Related Photos Pop Culture References In Kanye West’s ‘Runaway’ Related Artists Kanye West

Dancing With the Stars Producers Deny Bristol Palin Conspiracy at Work

The fact that Bristol Palin made it into the finals has a lot of people scratching their heads (or mailing white powder to the set). But it’s no conspiracy. “She deserves it,” Dancing With the Stars executive producer Conrad Green says. “A significant portion of our viewing audience believes that, too.” Week after week, as Bristol advances and superior talents like Audrina Patridge, Rick Fox, and Brandy have fallen, conspiracy theories have surfaced. DANCING FINALIST : Like it or not, Bristol Palin (with partner Mark Ballas) will be competing for the MirrorBall trophy in this week’s finals. Will she actually win it? Speculation has arisen about whether the Tea Party, which strongly supports her mom Sarah, is involved in an organized effort to promote Bristol. On one conservative Web site, Freerepublic (dot) com, some of the site’s 300,000 users have used discussion threads to encourage votes for Palin. Bristol Palin , that is. One asked users to “make liberal heads explode and vote for Bristol” Nov. 8 to advance her to the semifinals. That’s pretty much what happened. But Green insists , “There’s nothing in the voting system that looks at all strange.” He says that the entire process – text votes, call-in votes and email votes – “is all overseen by the Broadcast Standards team, independent of us and the network to make sure that everything is absolutely done scrupulously.” While some say the show’s credibility is in question after this year, Green says this isn’t the first time a less skilled dancer has made it this far. Of Bristol’s surprise run, he says, “You can argue whether or not she deserves to be there more than someone else who the judges have assigned to be a better dancer, but then make sure you vote for that person. It’s not rocket science.” He also notes that plans to change the system to give the judges’ scores more weight than audience votes are false, because that’s already in place. “Everyone is having a go at our system, but unlike American Idol, our professional judges count for half of the total for each couple each week, so there’s already a built-in attempt to make the dance quality matter,” Green says. “We set the rules down and this is the game and if this is how it turns out, then this is how it turns out. I think it’s absolutely fair.” What do you think? Does Bristol Palin deserve to be in the finals?

Lil Wayne Collaborators Partners-N-Crime Building Buzz Beyond Bayou

New Orleans duo talk to Mixtape Daily about linking up with Lil Wayne, YMCMB crew as they prep Legendary LP. By Jayson Rodriguez Partners In Crime Photo: NOLA Fire Starter: Partners-N-Crime OK, so these guys might not exactly be new jacks, but Partners-N-Crime are still on the come up. After building an extensive catalog and collaborations with the likes of Lil Wayne, the New Orleans duo are expanding their fanbase. Riding the wave of their new banger “Finally Could Breathe,” featuring Young Money president Mack Maine, Kango Slim and Mista Meana are currently hard at work on their 10th project, Legendary, set to drop next year. It’s an effort they once would have been hard pressed to put together, when their camps warring with each other years ago. “When we were coming up in the game, Wayne was a little bit younger than us,” Slim told Mixtape Daily. “We were on a label at the time called Big Boy and he was with Cash Money Records. And to be honest, both of the labels had a rivalry thing going on. Once Cash Money blew, Big Boy continued to do their thing. They housed Mystikal, Fiend, us, and a couple more artists. At one time, we never looked eye to eye, but as we grew older things began to change.” Wayne helped break the ice when he reached out to the underground vets a couple of years ago offering to record a track together. (The group was also, at one point, signed to former Cash Money member Juvenile’s label.) Partners-N-Crime sent Weezy something they were working on, a rockish number called “We Do What We Want To,” which eventually landed on their last set, We Are Legend. The superstar MC liked what he heard and contributed a verse. (“This was a little bit before he got into the same type of music with Rebirth, ” Meana recalled.) The result was a raucous anthem that helped to push PNC beyond their bayou borders. Before finishing up their Legendary collection, the group is next scheduled to perform at BAM’s 2010 Next Wave Festival in Brooklyn, New York, as part of the Red Hot + New Orleans lineup. By Jocelyn Vena Ryan Reynolds is name People ‘s “Sexiest Man Alive” for 2010 Photo: Time Inc It’s a good week to be acting couple Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds. Johansson has been named GQ ‘s Babe of the Year and hosted “Saturday Night Live” for the third time, and Reynolds has just nabbed the coveted title of People ‘s Sexiest Man Alive . “My body naturally wants to look like Dick Van Dyke,” the “Green Lantern” star told People. “When I stop training, I turn into a skin-colored whisper. … You just have to go with the flow.” But earning the distinction of being 2010’s sexiest man apparently doesn’t have any clout on the home front with wife Johansson. “Now it’s going to be, ‘Sexiest man, take out the garbage.’ That does sound better,” Reynolds said. “The most difficult part is going to be organically working this title into a conversation with random strangers.” Reynolds joins an elite group of Hollywood hotties who have been named Sexiest, including Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Johnny Depp and Hugh Jackman. People isn’t just honoring the rugged Canadian in the issue. “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm, “Twilight” hunk Kellan Lutz, one of the Hottest MCs in the Game, Drake , “Glee” star Matthew Morrison, “True Blood” star Joe Manganiello, Justin Timberlake and Jake Gyllenhaal, just to name a few, also made the cut. Drake was also named one of GQ ‘s Men of the Year, along with James Franco, Stephen Colbert and Jeff Bridges. Kim Kardashian is set to host a special about this year’s group of men on Wednesday night (November 17). “There are so many qualities that make this year’s Sexiest Man Alive sexy,” Kardashian said . “He’s so handsome, so funny. B.o.B’s ‘Don’t Let Me Fall’ Video Premieres

T.I. makes an appearance in trippy new clip. By Paul Cantor B.o.B in his music video for “Don’t Let Me Fall” Photo: Atlantic B.o.B’s new video for “Don’t Let Me Fall,” the fourth clip from the Atlanta rapper’s debut LP, B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray, premiered midnight Tuesday (November 16) on MTV.com. The video was directed by Ethan Lander, who also manned the lens for B.o.B’s “Nothin’ on You,” and was shot in downtown Denver and at Red Rocks Park and Ampitheatre. The clip weaves in footage from B.o.B’s humble beginnings and follows him as he rises up the ranks in rap’s food chain. Supporters, from manager TJ Chapman to T.I., who executive-produced B.o.B’s debut LP and released it on his Grand Hustle imprint, are also included in the footage. It’s appropriate, considering the song is a “thank you” of sorts to those who’ve supported him. The lyrics find B.o.B singing, “Well it was just a dream, just a moment ago/ I was up so high, lookin’ down at the sky, don’t let me fall/ I was shooting for stars on a Saturday night/ They say, ‘What goes up must come down’/ But don’t let me fall.” The video opens with B.o.B sitting upright on a bench, which seems to be lying on the floor. The world is moving around him, as if he’s fallen. Throughout the video, the aforementioned early clips play on an old tube television sitting next to the rapper. B.o.B recites his lines in performance shots set against the rocky terrain of Red Rocks Park and in the open space of the amphitheater. Later, he’s shown hanging sideways from a parking meter on the sidewalk. People walking by fall around him, but he’s unable to get up on his own. In the final verse, a band joins him, and they’re all lying horizontally on the sidewalk, playing the song with B.o.B strumming a guitar. At the end of the video, he stands upright of his own accord and walks away. Last month, the MTV News Hip-Hop Brain Trust voted B.o.B. the #9 Hottest MC in the Game . Boo Rossini says the Snowman’s much-delayed TM103 is ‘almost done cooking.’ By Jayson Rodriguez Young Jeezy Photo: Prince Williams/Getty Images Young Jeezy ‘s Spidey sense must have been going off. The Atlanta rapper’s abilities have been doubted lately, as the lead-up to his forthcoming album TM103 has been postponed several times. The rousing rapper has had his musical abilities questioned after a string of poorly received records. Then the Snowman dropped “Rap Game” and “Amen” earlier this week and turned the tables on his critics. On Tuesday evening, Jeezy delivered a new mixtape, The Last Laugh, via his USDA2Day website . The rapper’s U.S.D.A. affiliate Boo Rossini told MTV News on Tuesday that Jeezy is about to shock those who thought he slipped. “Right now, the main focus is Young,” Boo, who is promoting his new record “100 (Live By It, Die By It),” told MTV News. “He’s gonna kill them when he drops. He’s almost done cooking, so watch out for that. After that, we got the U.S.D.A. project, and I’m working this single. He’s also released the TM103 singles “Jizzle,” “Lose My Mind” with Plies and “All White Everything” featuring Yo Gotti . His album was slated for a September release, but the scheduled date has come and gone. Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Is Her ‘Freedom Album,’ Producer Says

RedOne says the upcoming Born This Way is ‘too good to talk about.’ By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Getty Images Why will Lady Gaga ‘s forthcoming Born This Way album “piss people off”? Gaga’s main man, producer and songwriter RedOne, thinks it might be because the album is all about the artist’s liberation. “I think it’s more of her freedom album. It’s like freedom this album … it’s her album!” he told MTV News. But trying to squeeze any more details out of the “Bad Romance” producer proved difficult. He remained tight-lipped about details, mostly because he feels the album, which Gaga has noted will veer toward bitter and political, isn’t ready for everyday talk just yet. “To be honest with you, I think that this album that she’s making is too precious to talk about. When it comes out you’ll hear and you’ll make your choice,” he said. “I think you’re gonna love it. But I think it’s too precious for me to talk about it. It’s crazy.” RedOne said that as far as he knows there will be no Beyonc

Justin Bieber Joins Ranks Of Pop Stars With ‘CSI’ Cameos

Bieber’s season-premiere debut follows guest turns by Diddy, Taylor Swift and more. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber in “CSI” Photo: CBS Justin Bieber is making his “CSI” debut on Thursday night (September 23), and while it remains to be seen whether the teen idol can pull out an Emmy-worthy performance, his appearance on the show continues the series’ tradition of casting marquee names for guest spots. Taylor Swift got to live out her dream in March 2009, when she played Haley , a girl found dead outside of a motel. While Swift didn’t have very many lines, the pop singer did display some chops onscreen and got to indulge her morbid acting fantasies. “I’ve always joked around with my record label and my mom and everybody — all my friends know that my dream is to die on ‘CSI,’ ” she said last year. “I’ve always wanted to be one of the characters on there that they’re trying to figure out what happened to.” But not everyone plays the victim. When Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz made a cameo on the show in March 2009, they hit up the East Coast version of the show on “CSI: NY.” The Wentzes went dark for their parts as Chester Byron and Lila Wickfield, playing a young couple entangled in the world of drug-dealing. “It’s easy to play passionate roles with the person you love,” Wentz said about hooking up with his wife onscreen. “There’s nothing weird about it when you love the person.” Diddy worked the opposite end of the legal spectrum when he was cast as a defense attorney on “CSI: Miami” in December 2008. Describing his character as a “nemesis” to David Caruso’s he explained, “I wanted to keep on studying and learning; working with great actors, directors, great shows. I’ve never done a television drama. I’ve always wanted to play a lawyer. I didn’t want to play, like, a rap artist or a criminal.” And that brings it back to Bieber, who’ll make his first of two appearances this week as troubled kid Jason McCann on “CSI” (the second will air in February). He’ll certainly be showing fans a side of him they haven’t seen. “He’s a troubled young man, raised in the foster-care system, whose hard-luck life has left him scarred and angry,” executive producer Carol Mendelsohn told MTV News last month. “When we first meet Jason, we meet him at a community center where he’s giving a testimonial in honor of a man who takes Jason and his older brother in when they had no one else, and that man is now in jail and Jason’s brother is out for revenge and looking for payback.” Are you planning to watch Justin’s “CSI” debut?
