Daily News Columnist Shaun King Suspended From Facebook For Sharing Hate Mail Twitter Despite all types of requests for receipts and changes in the ways he profits from Black pain, Shaun King is still out here tryna prove he’s down for the people. Unfortunately, this latest attempt didn’t go as planned, according to CBS News . “Every day I get as many — 50 or more sometimes — overtly racist emails. I even get mail now at the New York Daily News office … ‘Silence of the Lambs’ weird stuff,” said King. “Sometimes I’ll take a screen shot of one of these ugly things and post it.” On Friday morning, King took a screen shot of an email he received that used both the f- and n-words, and posted it on Twitter and Facebook saying this is the type of ugliness he gets “every day all day.” A few hours later when he went to Facebook, King says he had been logged out. When he logged back in he got a message saying he had been suspended from posting for 24 hours. “I am constantly harassed on Facebook and Twitter. … I don’t know if these people have been blocked. The policy is not clear to me.” “I accept that Facebook and every other social media platform is trying hard how to monitor and censor the ugliness that goes on,” King said. “If the policy is we don’t allow hate speech and people to be harassed, I say great – delete it. But don’t ban people.” King noted that it was odd that his Facebook post was blocked because the offensive language was in a screen grab, rather than a typed message. Which means, if the censoring was automatic, there would have had to be some sort of visual recognition program to read the words off the image. Poor thang. But wait: Facebook is blocking people from words in pictures now? What part of the game is that?
Nicki Minaj might actually be able to fire her bodyguards. All celebrities these days look to other means to ensure their safety. One of the huge pitfalls of being a celebrity is that the public seem to think it’s okay to approach them in the street or in a public place. That’s totally not okay and it’s actually a complete lack of respect. They should be allowed to walk around like the rest of us and not have to worry about a getting too much attention. It’s no wonder that some stars opt to steer clear of the public. The public can be very unpredictable and allowing the wrong person to approach you could lead to an unthinkable chain of events. Minaj found herself in quite the pickle over the labor day weekend while on a flight in New Jersey. One fan thought it would be a good idea to take pictures of the rapper, but Minaj’s hairdresser was completely disgusted at the lack of respect from the fan. This led to the hairdresser snatching the cell phone and attempting to delete the picture of her friend. The fan then wanted to get the cops involved, so everyone involved was questioned when the plane touched down. It was a bit much to get the cops involved when the person who took the picture was clearly in the wrong. Nicki should have filed a report on the girl. That would have been the ultimate karma. Nicki has kept quiet about the whole incident on social media. Stars are entitled to some privacy and it’s not like Nicki is able to jet set around on private jets. Might Nicki get rid of her bodyguards in favor of her hairdresser? Probably not, but it would make for a great job title! Nicki is not the first celebrity to have beef with a fan over taking pictures. Recently, Niall Horan was feeling a little under the weather and one fan got a little too close for comfort to take sneaky pictures of him. This did not go down well, with Horan slamming the fan on Twitter . He had every right to do so. Nicki Minaj took to the MTV VMA stage on August 28. She and Ariana Grande performed “Side By Side.” It was a raunchy performance. Basically, it’s what you would expect from the two. It got fans talking and reception to the performance has been mostly positive. It may have been a little too much even for the VMAs, but it made up for a terrible awards show. It’s time for the show to get a major revamp. Going back to having a presenter would be a great start. Key & Peele may just have ruined their reputation with their performance. As you’ve no doubt heard by now, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick chose not to stand for the national anthem before a preseason against the Green Bay Packers last week. The decision sparked a heated public debate, with some arguing that Kaepernick had disrespected his country and its military veterans. Others maintained that the former NFL standout (who lost his starting position to Blaine Gabbert last season) was exercising a constitutional right and calling attention to the critical matter of police brutality directed at people of color. “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” Kaepernick told the press after the game. “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way.” The 28-year-old added: “There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder. “When there’s significant change and I feel like that flag represents what it’s supposed to represent and this country is representing people the way that it’s supposed to, I’ll stand.” On Thursday, Kaepernick doubled-down on his protest by kneeling during the National Anthem prior to his team’s matchup against the San Diego Chargers, thus sending the clear message that he has no intention of backing down from stance. Needless to say, it’s a complex issue, and numerous public figures have expressed their views on Kaepernick’s actions. Of course, from the start of the controversy most sought-after opinion has been that of President Barack Obama, who has remained silent on the issue of Kaepernick’s protest until today. Obama is currently in China for a Group of 20 summit, and during a press conference this morning, he was asked about his views on Kaepernick. The President had this to say: President Obama on Colin Kaepernick “I think he cares about some real legitimate issues that have to be talked about,” Obama said, in what a statement of somewhat less-than-full-throated support for Kaepernick’s refusal to stand. “He’s exercising his constitutional right to make a statement. I think there’s a long history of sports figures doing so.” Obama then expressed his empathy for veterans who feel that Kaepernick’s actions were indicative of a lack of respect for the sacrifices made by those who have fought in the US armed forces: “As a general matter, when it comes to the flag, and the National Anthem, and the meaning that that holds for our men and women in uniform and those who fought for us, that is a tough thing for them to get past, to then hear what his deeper concerns are.” Despite the fact that Obama didn’t take a hard-line stance on either side of the debate, his comments have resulted in harsh rebukes from his most strident critics. Lauren Holiday, Jrue’s Wife, Found To Have Brain Tumor New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday was hit with awful news about his wife, retired soccer star Lauren Holiday. The young couple, whom are six months pregnant, were shocked when doctors found a benign tumor in Lauren’s brain. The baby is not due for another few weeks but word is they’re planning to induce labor early so the doctors can operate on her brain without affecting the baby. Jrue said that the Pelicans organization has given him a lot of support during this rough time. Via PEOPLE NBA star Jrue Holiday will not be there to start the New Orleans Pelicans’ 2016-2017 season. Instead, he will be by his wife Lauren Holiday’s side. The Holidays were left devastated when they received news that doctors had discovered a benign tumor on the right side of Lauren’s brain, according to NOLA.com. Lauren, who is an retired soccer star, was about six months pregnant at the time of the diagnosis, and while the tumor is operable and not a threat to their unborn daughter’s health, it needs to be removed. “My family comes before basketball,” Jrue, 26, told NOLA.com. “I’m obviously blessed to play this game and be in the position I am in, but my wife is the most important thing in the world to me. She comes before anything else.” He also commented on how the diagnosis has affected the upcoming birth of their daughter. “Obviously, we were and are still very excited about the birth of our first child, but our focus shifted from having this magnificent blessing to making sure everything is going to be OK with Lauren and the child,” Jrue told NOLA.com. “Our priorities right now are being able to manage Lauren’s symptoms and still have a fairly healthy pregnancy.” Lauren, 28, is due in mid-October, but the couple is hoping to induce the birth so doctors can operate on Lauren as soon as possible, NOLA.com reported. Doctors are planning to operate six weeks after Lauren gives birth, according to NOLA.com. “Lauren has her good days and her bad days; some are better than others,” Jrue said in the interview. “She’s obviously a fighter, the toughest woman I know. That’s the reason why I married her.” Jrue added that his team has been incredibly supportive of his decision to take a leave of absence. “The Pelicans have been great,” Jrue said. “There wasn’t any pressure to be with the team or to choose between my team and my wife. As a starting quarterback, Colin Kaepernick often bolted from the pocket at the first sign of pressure from the defensive line. As a controversial protestor, however, Colin Kaepernick isn’t going anywhere in the face of ongoing criticism. The San Francisco 49ers quarterback refused to stand during the playing of the national anthem prior to a preseason football game last week. After cameras found Kaepernick glued to the bench, he explained to reporters that he felt a responsibility to take some kind action against racial injustice in America. “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” Kaepernick said, adding: “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. “There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.” In subsequent comments, Kaepernick brought up the recent deaths of African-American citizens in confrontations with white police officers and said he would continue his protest until he saw “significant change.” And he meant it. On Thursday evening, Kaepernick kneeled on the sideline while the Star-Spangled Banner played overhead prior to his team’s matchup against the San Diego Chargers. In this case, Petty Officer 1st Class Steven Powell sang the anthem, as 240 military officers held the U.S. flag on a night when the home team hosted the 28th annual Salute to the Military night. But the quarterback wasn’t alone this time around. Teammate Eric Reid also dropped to a knee. Elsewhere on Thursday, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane refused to stand during the national anthem before his game against the Oakland Raiders. “I’ll continue to sit,” Kaepernick said earlier this week. “I’m gonna continue to stand with the people that are being oppressed. To me, this is something that has to change. “When there’s significant change and I feel like that flag represents what it’s supposed to represent and this country is representing people the way that it’s supposed to, I’ll stand.” However, Kaepernick is doing more than merely kneeling on the ground for a couple minutes in protest. He has announced plans to donate the first $1 million he earns this year to charities that assist communities in need. “I’ve been very blessed to be in this position and to be able to make the kind of money I do,” Kaepernick said after last night’s game. “And I have to help these people. I have to help these communities. It’s not right that they’re not put in a position to succeed or given those opportunities to succeed.” Kaepernick also said he spoke to a military veteran before the game about his cause. He received the man’s full support and explains that he took to a knee, as opposed to sitting all the way down, to “try to show more respect to the men and women that fight for this country.” Kaepernick has received some celebrity support, as well. John Legend, for example, says the Star-Spangled Banner is weak and that “America the Beautiful” should be our anthem instead. Either way, this is where things now stand: Colin Kaepernick is taking a knee during the playing of the national anthem. He’s doing so to draw attention to racial inequality in a country that prides itself as being the “land of the free” and he’s now giving $1 million to causes that are trying to help with this issue. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are on the verge of a breakup again, according to a new tabloid report, and you know who is at the crux of it all. In a way, it’s a rehash of a rumor that’s been circulating for months: Despite the fact that his sex scandals have largely blown over, Jim Bob and Michelle are fighting over Josh and heading for divorce. Ironically, Anna Duggar and Josh are on good terms after all this. Anyway, one of the pariah’s parents allegedly does not want anything to do with their first-born, while the other wants him back in the fold. Can you guess which Duggar parent is which? In Touch magazine’s latest cover story features a smiling Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and the “fight that split the family apart,” supposedly. The gossip publication claims that the pair has been at odds, and that while Jim Bob is ready to forgive his son, his wife isn’t so sure. Apparently, the tension has grown so thick that either Jim Bob or Michelle will be moving out of their Arkansas home in the near future. Who will stay and who will leave the compound?! There are only two real possibilities here as we see it: Either the cover above is entirely inaccurate, or Jim Bob and Michelle are doing one heck of a fine job masking whatever tension exists. Just three days ago, he looked lovingly at Michelle in a birthday video message for son Josiah on the family’s official Facebook account. In the clip, Jim Bob extolled the virtues of his 20-year-old son and his “loving spirit towards people” while Michelle glowed by his side. Like we said, they’d have to be really good actors. Jim Bob also gushed over Michelle in a recent anniversary tribute in which he also appeared to shade Josh, casting doubt on this story. For all the recurring talk of the Duggars divorcing , that would come as nothing short of a monumental shock at this stage of the game. Why? Soccer star Hope Solo has been suspended from the U.S. Women’s National Team for six months, the organization announced on Wednesday. The athlete will be ineligible to compete until February . Here disciplinary action comes after the goalkeeper, who helped Team USA to gold in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, lashed out in Rio. Hope slammed the Swedish women’s soccer team after the U.S. was stunningly defeated and knocked out of medal contention early. Sunil Gulati, the president of the organization, criticized “the comments by Hope Solo after the match against Sweden at the 2016 Olympics.” Solo’s comments “were unacceptable and do not meet the standard of conduct we require from our National Team players,” Gulati said. “Beyond the athletic arena and beyond the results” of the match, “the Olympics celebrate the ideals of fair play and respect.” The USWNT felt Solo didn’t live up to those ideals. “We expect all of our representatives to honor those principles,” Gulati said, explaining the suspension, “with no exceptions.” After the August 12 defeat, Solo said she thought the losing Team USA played a “courageous game,” while Sweden … did not. “I think we showed a lot of heart. We came back from a goal down. I’m very proud of this team,” the controversial star began. “But I also think we played a bunch of cowards,” she said. “The best team did not win today. I strongly believe that.” Obviously, her comments did not go over too well. Swedish coach Pia Sundhage, who previously coached Team USA to those two Olympic gold medals, blasted the goalie for her attitude. “We won the game. They played more attacking football than we did. We defended very well,” Sundhage told The Los Angeles Times . “It’s OK to be a coward if you win.” In response, Solo retweeted Sports Illustrated ‘s full transcript of her much-discussed quote and admitted that she’s not the best loser. “Losing sucks. I’m really bad at it,” she wrote. Hope Solo Taunted by “ZIKA” Chants in Olympic Opener That wasn’t sufficient to avoid a suspension, but at least it was honest; Hope does not mince words, or hold back her actions. After posting photos that some felt were disrespectful about the host nation, Solo was taunted with “Zika” chants earlier in the games. This isn’t Solo’s first brush with trouble. In 2015, she was benched for 30 days for “an incident that occurred during the current WNT training camp” that was held in Carson, Calif. Allegedly, there was drunken driving of the team van by her husband, who’s been by her side throughout a few of Solo’s lower points. Hope was arrested for domestic violence in 2014, and has been involved in some eyebrow-raising incidents with Jerramy Stevens (below):
A seemingly drunk Johnny Depp went off on wife Amber Heard in their kitchen earlier this year, and she managed to get a video of the altercation. WARNING: This may be upsetting to some viewers. Sources close to Depp believe this shocking video posted on TMZ was “heavily edited” and Amber was both smiling and egging him on. It was also a total set up by Amber, if you believe his camp, and could never be used in court, since he didn't know he was being filmed. Keep that in mind as you watch it below. That said: Months before the May 21 incident in which Amber claims Johnny struck her, he is seen here breaking a wine bottle and glass in frustration. In the video, the 30-year-old Heard asks the actor if he just drank a bottle of wine, then tries to calm him down, but he is far from pleased. The actress then says she's sorry for something. She did not say what, and Johnny really wasn't happy with her, seemingly out of it and out of control as he have the same curt response: “Did something happen to you this morning?” Depp, 53, breaks a wine glass and bottle, and tries grab Amber's phone as a struggle seems to occur between them at the end of the clip. Is this proof Johnny Depp abused Amber Heard , which she has alleged as part of their ongoing domestic abuse and divorce dispute? Not on its own merit … but it makes you wonder. The former spouses are currently in the midst of one of the ugliest divorces of all time, with Heard alleging that Depp is a violent alcoholic. She claims he physically assaulted her on more than one occasion; Depp denies the claims and his camp has accused Heard of lying. One report claimed that their “biggest fight” occurred after Heard accused Depp of cheating prior to the couple's separation this spring. According to the E! News story, “Johnny had a night out and Amber had a feeling he had been with someone,” says an insider. Heard then “questioned him about it and he blew up at her, got in her face yelling, chased her upstairs.
