The start of the New York Jets season is either off to a terrific start or a terrible start… depending on your view of Geno Smith. The team’s starting quarterback is out a minimum of six weeks after breaking his jaw due to a teammate’s locker room sucker punch. Describing the altercation between Smith and reserve linebacker IK Enemkpali, Head Coach Todd Bowles told reporters this afternoon: “It was nothing to do with football. … It was very childish. He got cold-cocked … sucker punched, whatever you want to call it, in the jaw. He’s got a broken jaw, a fractured jaw.” Enemkpali was released immediately after the incident. Smith, who ranked last in the NFL over the past two seasons in touchdown-to-interception ratio and also last in competition percentage, will undergo surgery. He has vowed on Instagram that he’ll be “back,” though plenty of Jets fans out there probably want him to take his time. “The team knows it. It’s something we don’t tolerate, something we can’t stand,” Bowles said. “You don’t walk up to a man and punch him in the face.”
Yesterday, we reported that Rob Kardashian skipped Kylie Jenner’s birthday celebration and has reportedly cut all ties with his concerned family. Rob is back on Instagram these days, but he didn’t even uphold the Kardashian tradition of giving his sibling a b-day shout-out on social media. Instead, Rob paid tribute to legendary actor and philanthropist Paul Newman, for reasons that we’re guessing he doesn’t quite remember: It was a nice gesture and all, but it was neither Newman’s birthday, nor the anniversary of his death, so the whole thing seems a bit random. Given everything that we’ve heard about Rob’s partying habits , we’re guessing the 28-year-old was treating his cottonmouth with some refreshing Newman’s Own lemonade when he decided to honor the memory of Cool Hand Luke. It’s Rob’s first post in over a week, and he captioned it simply, “RIP.” Now, we (semi) jokingly suggested that Rob was drunk or high when he posted the pic, but considering the fact that Newman was as well known for his charity work as for his acting, it’s possible that Rob is once again using his IG page to subtly criticize his own family. It’s hard not to think that the man is sending a message when he mourns the loss of one of Hollywood’s greatest humanitarians on the same day that his 18-year-old sister received a quarter-million dollar Ferrari as a birthday present. Of course, moments later, Rob posted a pic of Colin Farrell in Miami Vice, so maybe he’s just planning on getting into acting. We’re gonna stick with our original theory that Rob was baked out of his gourd and decided that Butch Cassidy seemed like a chill dude.

Despite not even being at Kylie Jenner’s 18th birthday party himself, the artist shared a picture of Kris Jenner and Corey Gamble from the event on Instagram and wrote as a caption to it: “Hottest couple in the game.” Sort of makes you wonder what game Bieber is playing, doesn’t he? Former Mets Player Darryl Hamilton Dead In Murder-Suicide Damn, it’s like Steve McNair all over again. Via ESPN Former major leaguer Darryl Hamilton has been killed in a murder-suicide at a suburban Houston home, police said Monday. He was 50. Hamilton was found Sunday after he was fatally shot in a house in Pearland. He had worked for the MLB Network since 2013. An initial investigation determined Hamilton was shot several times and that a woman in the home died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. She was identified as 44-year-old Monica Jordan, Pearland Police Lt. Patrick Savage said. Police said Hamilton and Jordan’s 14-month-old child, who was found unharmed at the home, was turned over to Child Protective Services. Hamilton was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He played for five teams over 13 seasons in the majors before retiring in 2001, reaching the postseason in four of his final five seasons. In front of kid?!?! “All of us at Major League Baseball are shocked and saddened by this tragedy,” MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement. “Darryl followed a successful 13-year career on the field by assembling a multifaceted career in our game, working for MLB Advanced Media and in our Baseball Operations Department before moving on to MLB Network. “He was a talented and personable individual, and we were proud to call him a member of the Baseball Family. On behalf of Major League Baseball, I extend my deepest sympathies to Darryl’s family and his many friends throughout our game.” R.I.P. to Darryl and prayers up for his family and friends. Dear Bossip , I am in a 9 month relationship with a separated man. They have been separated over 2 years. His wife is dating his best friend. My man has become more distant in the past couple of weeks saying he is busy and tired. I told him a couple weeks ago that I didn’t know if it was going to work because he is still married and I don’t feel like we can go anywhere because of the marriage. He said he loved me and I mean the world to him, and I’m his glue. He said that he did need to move on with his life and that he did need to -ish or get off the pot. I love him, but ever since I said I didn’t know if it was going to work because he’s still married it’s like he has distanced himself from me. I used to hear from him a couple times a day at least, but now I will wait a day and then call him because he isn’t initiating contact. He still says he loves me and misses me when we talk. What is going on? – Waiting On Him Dear Ms. Waiting On Him , You are not in a relationship. He is still married. Despite being separated from his wife for 2 years, he is still a married man. Therefore, you don’t have a relationship. You are sleeping with a married man. He is grieving the fact that his wife is dating his best friend. Trust me, he is not well emotionally or mentally. He is just going through the motions in his life. He discovers that his wife is dating his best friend, and you think he’s ready to be move on and be in another relationship? Sorry, but he’s not. I’m sure, no, I’m positive that he is hurting. His is sad, angry, mad, and depressed. Two people he trusted and loved are in a relationship with each other. He is living with the thought and idea on a day-to-day basis that his wife and best friend are laid up, living life, and planning a life without him. He is not okay. And, you’re absolutely right that it is not going to work between you and he because he is still married, probably still in love with his wife, and as a result you and he are not going to move forward or have anything serious. The fact that they have been separated for 2 years tells me that he is holding out and waiting for her to return. Don’t you find it odd that in 2 years he has not divorced his wife? His wife is sleeping with his best friend, and he hasn’t divorced her. Hmmm, wake up ma’am. Stop waiting on him, chasing after him, and stop forcing him to be with you. He does not want you. You are something to do in the meantime. You are someone to pass the time with. His body needs physical attention, but his mind and his emotions are with someone else – his wife. You feel he’s distancing himself from you and not reaching out or maintaining contact. Well, trust your intuition. If he is pulling away after you gave him an ultimatum it’s because he is pulling away. You were his glue because he probably had no one else he could talk with about his wife and his best friend. You were a shoulder to lean on, and someone to lay in bed with and vent. You were not someone he was serious about, but someone who happened to give him an ear when he needed someone to listen to him. I mean come on, honey, the man told you that he knows he should move on, but, hell, it’s been 2 years! He’s still harping about his wife and best friend after 2 years? He’s not ready to be with someone else. He’s still in love with his wife. He’s still waiting on her to return. You are only a distraction for a few minutes, hours, or days. But, he goes home and is reminded of his wife each time he is alone. He is reminded of his best friend when he wants to pick up the phone and go chill, watch the game, or simply to hang out. He is grieving. You need to move on. Find a man who is single, and one who is not pinning or still in love with an ex. This man is not for you. Wish him well and let him go.
