Hi Hater: Michael Jordan Says Lebron James Could Not Have Been As Successful Playing In The 80′s And 90

The GOAT has spoken Michael Jordans Says Lebron James Wouldn’t Have Been As Succsessful In His Era Via CBSSports With LeBron James putting up historic numbers and passing the eye test along with it, with Kobe Bryant entering the twilight of his career as arguably the second-greatest shooting guard of all time, and with Kevin Durant emerging as a force in his own right, all-time comparisons are even more common than normal. And with Michael Jordan turning 50, there’s a surge of media around him. After saying in an interview that he’d take Kobe over LeBron (Note: the excerpt excluded the fact that Jordan said “in terms of championships” but whatever), Jordan said in an interview with ESPN the Magazine that he takes umbrage with the idea that modern players could play in the ’90s. Citing tougher competition and different rules, Jordan lists four players who could play in his era and questions even the mighty LeBron. JORDAN PLAYS his new favorite trivia game, asking which current players could be nearly as successful in his era. “Our era,” he says over and over again, calling modern players soft, coddled and ill-prepared for the highest level of the game. This is personal to him, since he’ll be compared to this generation, and since he has to build a franchise with this generation’s players. “I’ll give you a hint,” he says. “I can only come up with four.” He lists them: LeBron, Kobe, Tim Duncan, Dirk Nowitzki. When someone on TV compares LeBron to Oscar Robertson, Jordan fumes. He rolls his eyes, stretches his neck, frustrated. “It’s absolutely … ” he says, catching himself. “The point is, no one is critiquing the personnel that he’s playing against. Their knowledge of how to play the game … that’s not a fair comparison. That’s not right … Could LeBron be successful in our era? Yes. Would he be as successful? No.” We’re no basketball professionals, but LeBron James is 6’8 260 lbs. He’s huge for any era. Find it hard to believe that he wouldn’t be able to hoop it up with the old heads, but can you really agrue with Michael Jordan? Image via Facebook

Disney Will Give Ewan McGregor A ‘Star Wars’ Spinoff (And If That Jedi Mind Trick Doesn’t Work, It Should)

Now that Ewan McGregor has voiced his enthusiasm for playing Obi-Wan Kenobi again, Disney should make it so. The actor, who’s out promoting Jack The Giant Slayer told MTV News that he thought reprising his role as the Jedi Master was “a good idea” and had clearly done some thinking about where an Obi-Wan standalone movie could fit into the about-to-be-rebooted  Star Wars franchise — the gap between Episode III and IV “before Alec Guinness, there’s that period where he’s in the desert….That might be my window there, to tell that story.”  McGregor said that he didn’t know what Obi-Wan actually did in the desert, but added: “We could make up some stuff.” Actually, there are plenty of sanctioned Star Wars stories that cover Kenobi’s time in exile in the Tatooine desert  — some of which have him communing with the spirit of his mentor, Qui-Gonn Jinn (who was played by Liam Neeson in Episode I ) — so the writers wouldn’t have to star from scratch. But even if there wasn’t all that material out there, bringing McGregor back is an excellent idea. Although I’d love to see Harrison Ford  finally get his Han Solo death scene, Disney clearly wants these new Star Wars movies to appeal to young demographics, and there’s nothing musty or dusty about McGregor. He’s one of the finest actors of his generation, and, with the exception of the emotional climactic scenes of Episode III , his talents were largely wasted in the Star Wars prequel trilogy.  An Obi-Wan standalone movie could not only right that wrong but add a cinematic backstory to the character that would give Guinness’ performance in Episode IV  even more dramatic heft. What do you think, Star Wars fans?  Let me know in the comments, and while you’re mulling it over, here’s the clip of McGregor voicing his enthusiasm for picking up the lightsaber again. Obama Inaugural Address: What Did You Think?

President Barack Obama gave his inaugural address today, beginning his second White House term with an ambitious agenda and a call for national unity. On a cold morning in Washington, D.C., the 44th President asked this great nation to live up to its founding ideals and to bringing about needed change. Obama Inaugural Address 2013 Obama invoked the country’s history of hardship – be it from the deficit, rising health care costs, climate change and equal rights – and overcoming adversity. “We are made for this moment, and we will seize it – so long as we seize it together,” Obama said, after taking the oath and being sworn in for a second term . He urged citizens to meet “the obligation to shape the debates of our time – not only with the votes we cast, but with the voices we lift in defense of our enduring ideals.” Amid the pomp and ceremony, the event symbolized U.S. democracy with a peaceful extension of power based on 2012’s bitterly contested election. While focusing on broader themes of democracy and citizenship, Obama referred to some specific issues facing the country after his first four years in power: Economic disparity : Obama said Americans understand that “our country cannot succeed when a shrinking few do very well and a growing many barely make it.” Spending : He rejects “that we must choose between caring for the generation that built this country and investing in the generation that will build its future.” Climate change : Obama vowed to “respond to the threat … knowing that the failure to do so would betray our children and future generations.” Gun control : The President said “all our children, from the streets of Detroit to the hills of Appalachia to the quiet lanes of Newtown” should be safe from harm. World peace : Americans “still believe that enduring security and peace do not require perpetual war” and that “engagement can more durably lift suspicion and fear.” Equality : Perhaps Obama’s loudest cheer came when he said we should not rest “until our wives, our mothers, and daughters can earn a living equal to their efforts,” and “until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law.” Unlike Obama’s 2009 inauguration, he cast a more optimistic tone for the next four years as he laid out his vision for America in strokes both broad and specific. The ceremony featured Beyonce’s national anthem and Kelly Clarkson’s performance of “My Country, ‘Tis of Thee” and will be followed by events throughout today. What did you think of the speech? And of the prospects for the next four years under Obama’s leadership in general? Comment (and vote) below! President Obama’s second term: How will it go?   Very well, we’re on the right track! Better than the last four years at least Better than the first term of Mitt Romney would have been Terrible, we’re doomed! View Poll »

David Petraeus Resigns as CIA Director, Citing Extramarital Affair

David Petraeus has surprisingly and abruptly resigned as director of the CIA. The decorated former chief of U.S. Central Command cited an extramarital affair. “After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair,” Petraeus’ resignation letter said. “Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as ours.” “Teddy Roosevelt once observed that life’s greatest gift is the opportunity to work hard at work worth doing.” “I will always treasure my opportunity to have done that with you and I will always regret the circumstances that brought that work with you to an end.” The retired four-star general had a distinguished 37-year career in the military before joining the CIA, commanding forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. Petraeus, 60, has been widely praised by both sides of the political aisle. He took the helm of the CIA in September 2011; his sudden resignation came as a surprise, just days after President Barack Obama won reelection . President Obama said in a statement: “By any measure, he was one of the outstanding general officers of his generation, helping our military adapt to new challenges, and leading our men and women in uniform through a remarkable period of service in Iraq and Afghanistan, where he helped our nation put those wars on a path to a responsible end.” “As director of the Central Intelligence Agency, he has continued to serve with characteristic intellectual rigor, dedication and patriotism.” Obama accepted Petraeus’ resignation Friday.

Shooter Jennings on John Mayer: KING Douche!

John Mayer is a douchebag. Everyone knows this. According to country music bigshot Shooter Jennings, he’s more than that. He’s “King Douche,” and the reasons for that are abundant. He writes on Twitter: “I love how the ‘neil young of our generation’ self-naming king douche grows his hair out + buys a place in Montana just to do [Rolling Stone] article.” “Claims he’s ‘done w hollywood game’ and has ‘roots’ and then immediately cuts hair, goes back to hollywood clubs + starts banging Katy Perry .” It’s true, he did return to his douche “roots” awfully quick. “And don’t anybody say he’s a great guitar player,” he adds. “Gary Clark Jr & [Lukas Nelson] wipes their asses with this dude. That’s enough, John Mayer.” Shooter, a powerful country music DJ and the son of the late Waylon Jennings, does not have any personal beef with Mayer that we’re aware of. Just felt like going off on him. We can sympathize. He later apologized … for $h!t talking. Not to Mayer specifically, but for flying off the handle after reading the narcissistic drivel in Rolling Stone .

Paulina Gretzky is Fun on Halloween of the Day

Everyone makes a big deal…or as big a deal as one can possibly make about someone as insignificant as Paulina Gretzky…you know the daughter of a star Hockey Player from the 80s….who has achieved absolutely nothing and who doesn’t need to achieve anything….because she is set for fucking life…. But when I look at her, I see nothing different than the typical college girl…they all dress slutty, they would all have implants if they had access to their trust fund and more importantly had shitty fucking tits….they all go to the Deadmau5 and other dubstep shows….this is just the way this generation plays out… I don’t know what people expect out of her…or why they wouldn’t accept this behavior with open arms…cuz as far as I’m concerned it is fun to look at…especially knowing…she doesnt need to be doing this to get ahead…she’s strictly in it for the attention…and that makes her fun…. 3 or 4 costumes…all perfectly slutty….which is always nice to to see how a slut everyday sluts out on this slutty day…or week…in Paulina Gretzky’s fit as many parties in hustle….
