GTFOHWTBS! If you believe George Zimmerman’s mom he’s just some innocent man who was defending his home. Are you buying it? Via Daily Mail : Gladys Zimmerman published an open letter today, the one year anniversary of prosecutors arresting George Zimmerman for second-degree murder. In it, she thanks supporters who helped the family when they were forced into hiding after receiving numerous death threats. She writes that Zimmerman’s June 10 trial will ‘confirm’ the truth about the February 26, 2012 shooting that left the unarmed 17-year-old Martin dead. ‘April 11 2012 will be forever remembered by the Zimmerman family as the day the justice system failed us as Americans, and as a consequence an innocent man was arrested for a crime he did not commit, solely to placate the masses,’ she said. She later adds: ‘There was absolutely no justifiable reason my son should have been charged for a crime he didn’t commit and there was no just reason he should find himself incarcerated either.’ Zimmerman’s family has long said he is a victim of media manipulation and spin. They say the evidence has been clear all along that Zimmerman acted in self defense when he shot Martin once in the chest, killing him during a struggle. Gladys Zimmerman, who worked nearly three decades as a court clerk in Virginia, has never appeared publicly to speak about her son. She told News 13 in Orlando in a phone interview that she still has faith in the justice system, despite the charges against her son. Still, she warned that her son must be judged by an impartial jury. ‘It is imperative now more than ever that George receive fair treatment by the judicial system, as this is the quintessential birthright of every American,’ she wrote. She blamed news media for spinning the story about the Martin shooting and convincing the public that her son was a murderer. ‘The media, with the help of social media made it their prerogative to judge and sentence George before and after his arrest,’ she wrote. Trayvon was unarmed and Zimmerman didn’t want to fight a fair one after chasing him around the neighborhood. What lies is this woman even talking about? AP
George Zimmerman’s attorneys stunned court observers Tuesday when they waived their client’s right to a “Stand Your Ground” pretrial hearing. That hearing, scheduled for April, could have led to a dismissal of the charges in the shooting death of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin in 2012. Zimmerman, a former neighborhood watch captain in his Sanford, Fla., subdivision, shot and killed the teen, who was visiting a house in the area. He claimed self-defense but faces second-degree murder charges. The move allows the defense more time to prepare for the trial this summer. It also raises the stakes for the defendant. Florida’s controversial “Stand Your Ground” law entitles a person to use deadly force if he believes his life is threatened, and absolves them of “an obligation to retreat.” This applies even if retreat is possible. Given that “Stand Your Ground” is seen by many observers as the linchpin defense, waiving a chance to have the case thrown out on that basis was shocking. However, he likely calculated that a judge would not dismiss this high-profile and remarkably complex case before a jury even had a chance to hear it. In recent weeks, Zimmerman’s defense has suffered multiple several legal setbacks involving his bail and the deposition of a key witness in the case. Another unfavorable ruling could’ve been interpreted by as a sign of guilt, while a pretrial hearing would’ve also given prosecutors a preview of Zimmerman’s testimony. Before the April hearing was waived, Zimmerman’s defense set out to attack the credibility of Witness 8, arguably the key witness in the upcoming trial. Defense attorney Donald West asked the court for more information about the allegedly false account she gave attorneys regarding crucial events. According to records obtained by ABC News, she was on the phone with Trayvon Martin as his fatal confrontation with George Zimmerman began. She claims he told her that he was scared of a strange man following him. The state admitted that Witness 8 lied when she stated that she did not attend Martin’s funeral because of a medical issue; no medical records supported that claim. The defense wanted Judge Debra Nelson to question prosecutors about how they first learned that this claim was not true, but Nelson refused. The defense also asked for law enforcement biographies of both George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin , in particular Martin’s social media history. “It’s time and money to get some of the information here and we are running out of both,” said West, lamenting his client’s tenuous financial situation.

This thirsty jailbird will try any and everything to get some gwap! SMH George Zimmerman Sues NBC And Denies Claims That He’s Racist Neighborhood murderer “watchman” George Zimmerman and his legal team have come up with yet another way to fund their failing defense….by suing NBC. via TMZ reports Trayvon Martin shooter George Zimmerman has filed a lawsuit against NBC over the way it edited his 911 call — placed moments before Martin was shot — claiming the network falsely made Zimmerman look like a “hostile racist.” You’ll recall, NBC launched an internal investigation over the tape after it aired the edited recording — which made it sound like Zimmerman immediately told police that Martin was black, without being prompted. In actuality, the full 911 tape reveals Zimmerman only referred to Martin as “black” when responding to a question from the dispatcher about Trayvon’s race. Zimmerman accuses NBC of creating a “false and defamatory misimpression using the oldest form of yellow journalism: manipulating Zimmerman’s own words, splicing together disparate parts of the recording to create the illusion of statements that Zimmerman never actually made.” He’s suing for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress, demanding unspecified damages. So then, those super-special Zimmerman-autographed thank you notes in exchange for donations must not be hittin for too much, huh? Oh.
