Katt Williams Charged With Battery After Fight In LA Katt Williams is being charged with one count misdemeanor battery after he claims he wad just defending himself against cruel short jokes in LA according to TMZ reports: Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … he’s been charged with one count of misdemeanor battery for the incident in L.A. in March where Katt allegedly struck bystanders in self-defense. Katt told us the guys were cracking short jokes on him after he ran to help victims in a car crash. Meanwhile, back east … prosecutors in Georgia filed a motion to revoke his bond in his bodyguard assault case. We’ve just received news that “Mama” June Shannon has been rushed to the hospital after passing out at her home earlier today. According to TMZ, the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star collapsed after walking down the stairs in her Georgia house. She reportedly regained consciousness but then fainted again several times afterwards, prompting her 16-year-old daughter Lauren “Pumpkin” Shannon to drive her to the hospital. Mama June had vomited multiple times and complained of feeling unwell throughout the day. Apparently, she had been trying to stick to a diet and admitted she hadn’t eaten much. Doctors are still unaware of the reason behind Mama June’s mystery illness, but are moving forward with blood work and a CT scan to determine the cause. Mama June has dealt with her share of controversy over the years. Here Comes Honey Boo Boo , which features June as the mother of a child pageant contestant, has been described by many as “trainwreck” programming that viewers loved to hate. Black Voter Turnout Is Imperative To Keeping Donald Trump From Being Elected President RawStory taken the liberty of breaking down exactly why it is SO important that each and everyone of us do our civic duty and cast our votes. All of us, but especially black women… As the Democratic nominating contest speeds up, African-American voters – especially women – have some tough, and influential, choices to make. South Carolina is the first primary where African Americans are the majority of Democratic voters, controlling 55 percent of the vote. That makes South Carolina a battleground for black votes, especially those of African-American women. We know that victories in early primaries are important. Later voters often pick their candidate based on early primary outcomes. The South Carolina primary is perhaps as important as the Iowa and New Hampshire primaries because it could create momentum in subsequent contests where black votes will help candidates win. The following statistics explains exactly how influential the black vote can be and how detrimental it can be for us if we don’t… African-American voters are the most loyal supporters of the Democratic Party. Their support for Democratic presidential candidate Al Gore was 90 percent in 2000. In 2004, they voted for John Kerry by 88 percent. Barack Obama won an all-time high of 95 percent in 2008. According to exit polls, black voters were 13 percent of the national electorate in 2008. They represented approximately one in every 4.25 Obama voters that same year. Sixty-five percent, or 15.9 million, of voting-age African Americans cast a ballot in the general election, compared to 66.1 percent of white citizens. But, the voter turnout rate among eligible black female voters was 68.8 percent – the highest of all racial, ethnic and gender groups in the 2008 American presidential election. Especially in southern states with large black voting-eligible populations – including South Carolina, Mississippi, Georgia, North Carolina and Louisiana – the black female voter outperformed in terms of registration and turnout. Since 1996, this gender gap has been consistently present. African-American women voted at higher rates than African-American men by a range of 7 or 8 percentage points in 2008. That rate was even higher – about 9 percentage points – in 2012, which is 6 percentage points higher than other racial groups. All this is to say that we, as people of color, HAVE to have the same level of enthsiasm about voting in November as we did in 2008 when Obama was running for his first term. Denise Katrina Matthews, best known by her stage name ‘Vanity,’ has passed away at age 57 due to complications from a medical condition . Via TMZ : Vanity, lead singer of the ’80s girl group Vanity 6, has died after years of battling kidney failure and, more recently, an abdominal illness. Vanity, whose real name was Denise Katrina Matthews, passed away in a Fremont, CA hospital on Monday … according to sources close to her family. A few months ago she set up a GoFundMe page, and said she’d been diagnosed with sclerosing encapsulating peritonitis — an inflammation of the small intestines. She also battled crack addiction in the ’90s, and after a 1994 OD her kidneys were shot. She had to undergo nearly daily dialysis treatments. Vanity’s biggest hit came in 1982 with “Nasty Girl” … a song produced by Prince. The group toured with Prince on his 1999 tour, but she quit right after that. Gucci Mane To Be Released From Prison In September 2016 The saga of Gucci’s release date continues. After reports that Gucci was headed from the big house back to the trap house in a manner of months — which were then quickly shut down by legal docs that claimed he wouldn’t be heading home until next year at the earliest — it appears that Gucci’s own attention to detail will actually have him heading home by the fall. Via TMZ : Gucci Mane had to play math teacher to prison officials … and it means he’s gonna get out of jail earlier. It’s been a long road for Mane since he was arrested in 2013 for violating probation by carrying a gun. He served time in a Georgia jail, then got transferred to a federal pen. He’d been sentenced to 39 months for the violation. Mane filed docs claiming the Bureau of Prisons was miscalculating his time served … and a judge agreed a clarification was needed. Thanks to the change, his 39 months will be up in September 2016. 7 months to go. It’ll go by like that! Good for Gucci! His return to the streets should make for a pretty epic weekend in Atlanta.
