Black Family Fires Confederate Flag Rocking Contractor Soon As He Arrived To Do Job

Continued here:

Source: Stephanie Keith / Getty A Black family in Atlanta decided to forgo the services of a white contractor who rolled up on their property with a huge Confederate Flag flying on the back of his truck. Allison and Zeke Brown of Atlanta kindly told the gentleman that because of the flag, his services were no longer needed and sent him on his way. Yahoo! reports : Allison and Zeke Brown of Atlanta, Georgia hired the man, whose name is Michael, to replace the brakes on their golf cart. When he arrived at their home on Saturday, an enormous rebel flag was attached to his truck. “Hi, you know what, I do apologize, I know you’ve come from a very long way, but we’re going to use someone else,” Allison, 40, a radiation therapist, tells Michael, as captured in a video on her Ring app. “She’s upset with the flag,” explains Zeke, 48. “No, I’m beyond upset with the flag,” corrects Allison. Michael offers to remove the flag, but Allison says, “No, you don’t need to take it down. You can continue to believe what you need to believe, sir. But no, I cannot pay you for your services. Thank you, have a good day.” Tough break but that flag’s history when it comes to Black folks and some of the folks who love to fly it made this a rather easy call. According to The Atlanta Voice , the actor and rapper invested in an app designed to educate teenagers about the facets of financial literacy. . @Nas & Will Smith invest in mobile app Step to help teens gain financial literacy | #TheAtlantaVoice https://t.co/YUqo2ycQD8 — The Atlanta Voice (@theatlantavoice) June 13, 2019 The app—which is named Step—was created by entrepreneur CJ MacDonald . It’s a no-fee banking platform that will allow teenagers to manage their accounts and exchange money with their family and friends. Parents have the ability to monitor their child’s spending through the app. The creators of the app wanted to give teens hands-on experience with managing their funds. As technology advances and shapes the way that consumers are spending money, those involved with bringing the app to fruition wanted to ensure that the younger generation is equipped with knowledge about making smart money decisions in a digital age. “Schools don’t teach kids about money,” MacDonald told Tech Crunch in an interview. “We want to be their first bank accounts with spending cards, but we also want to teach financial literacy and responsibility. Banks don’t tailor to this, and we want to be a solution teaching the next generation of adults to be more responsible with money in the cashless era. It was easy with cash to go to the mall but now everyone is using their phone for Uber and more.” Aside from the support of Smith and Nas, the company has been backed by other angel investors and a group of venture capital firms that include Sesame Ventures, Crosslink Capital and the Collaborative Fund. Those investments have garnered the company $22.5 million in funding. Several people are using their platform to spread awareness about the importance of financial literacy among the youth. In March, rapper 21 Savage led a workshop at a Georgia middle school about making informed and effective decisions when it comes to finances. He also joined forces with the nonprofit organizations Juma and Get Schooled for a collaborative effort to provide 150 students in Atlanta with job opportunities and financial literacy workshops. Bruh: Georgia Inmate Escapes Courthouse In Handcuffs, Found Hours Later Hiding Under A House [Video]

Georgia Inmate Flees Courthouse You have to be pretty bold to try and escape while you’re in the custody of Georgia State Deputies. One Decatur man was clearly about that life, or just afraid ago to prison, when he escaped from a group of Benton County inmates who were being processed for court on Monday. 28-year old Diego Jose Zayas-Martinez was originally charged with terroristic threatening and criminal mischief for threatening to kill a man in 2018. But after fleeing from deputies on foot earlier this week, Martinez’s new charges include first-degree escape and criminal trespass. According to reports , deputies chased a handcuffed Martinez through the courthouse parking lot for several minutes before they found him hiding under a house on Central Avenue. He is now being held at the Benton County Jail on a $550,000 bond with his hearing set for July 15 in Benton County Circuit Court. SMH.
