Jesus Take The Wheel: Father Stabs His Two Kids, Frames Baby Mama’s New Man For Their Death

We hope this man gets life in prison so that he can spend a good, long time living with the fact that he’s a monster. In a shocking turn of events on Saturday, police dropped the charges against Antonia Cardenas-Rico, and then charged the father of the two children, Elvis Noe-Garcia, with murder. Police said investigators now believe Noe-Garcia stabbed two of his children to death and then stabbed himself. Thursday, Gwinnett County police charged Cardenas-Rico with killing two of his girlfriend’s children and then stabbing a third child and their father at a Lawrenceville home. By Saturday, police changed course and dropped the charges against Cardenas-Rico, and instead saying the children’s father, Noe-Garcia, attacked the children and then stabbed himself. Thomas asked if he thought Noe-Garcia had planned the stabbings. “Yes, I think he planned everything,” said Cardenas-Rico. Cardenas-Rico said he believed Noe-Garcia framed him because he was dating Noe-Garcia’s former girlfriend. He said Noe-Garcia had made threats before. “Why would he do that to his own family, his own kids, his own self,” asked Cardenas-Rico. “Why was he trying to set me up? Why didn’t he let it go?” While cleared of murder, Cardenas-Rico still has legal problems. He faces a drug charge and admitted he was in the U.S. illegally. Cardenas-Rico has a wife and two children in Las Vegas. He said he fears he will be deported. Noe-Garcia has been charged with two counts of murder and assault and being held in the Gwinnett County Jail without bond. Those poor, innocent babies. And their mom, who has to live the rest of her life with her questionable choice of a baby daddy.

‘X-Men: First Class’: Everything We’ve Seen So Far

Before the hotly anticipated trailer debuts, we thumb through our first peeks at Magneto, Charles Xavier, Emma Frost and more. By Eric Ditzian Michael Fassbender as Erik Lehnsherr in “X-Men: First Class” Photo: Murray Close The first trailer for “X-Men: First Class” is only hours away from going live on the film’s Facebook page, giving us our first look at footage from the upcoming superhero flick. It’s been a long time coming, considering that Fox first gave a go-ahead for the script back in 2008. Since then, we’ve gleaned all sorts of insight into the project, from interviews with behind-the-scenes players to production rumors to casting confirmations. And since filming began late last summer, we’ve been gifted with a slew of set photos and official production shots. Before the trailer arrives, let’s review everything we’ve seen so far. First Look at January Jones Our initial peek at “X-Men” came early last September, when photos of the “Mad Men” star — in full, fur-hatted costume as telepathic Emma Frost — popped up online. The aesthetic for the outfit seemed to be retro-futuristic, at once in keeping with the film’s ’60s-era setting and the mutants’ ahead-of-the-human-curve outlook. The photos also indicated — based on the presence of a red-starred jeep and helicopter — that the military will somehow factor into the story line. Meet James McAvoy Weeks later, we got our first look at McAvoy as Charles Xavier . Although taken at night and a little blurry, the photos once again showcased the film’s retro vibe. According to a report from an onlooker on the Oxford, England, set, the scene in question features Xavier “getting doctorates in theology and philosophy from Oxford University in the 1960s, his manipulation of student uprisings using his psychic powers and the way he meets best friend-turned-archrival Magneto.” The Fallen Blackbird By December, the production had shifted Stateside and we got a tantalizing look at Xavier’s Blackbird ship. The aerial shots seemed to indicate the ship had crashed on a beach. The actual location of the shoot was an island off the coast of Georgia, but speculation suggested the in-film setting would be Muir Island, Scotland, where Xavier conducts experiments to better understand the mutant gene. Weeks later, a supposed “X-Men” storyboard indicated that a mutant may be responsible for a Blackbird crash. Look at All Those Mutants! In January, a photo popped up showing a bunch of mutants together, including Jones, McAvoy, Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Rose Byrne (Moira MacTaggert) and Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique). It turned out the photo was an early leak , and director Matthew Vaughn was not pleased. “When I found out, I said, ‘What the f— is this sh–?’ and Fox is running around trying to figure out what happened as well,” he said. “I agree. It’s like a bad Photoshop, which maybe it was by someone. It didn’t reflect the movie. I was shocked when I saw it.” Official photos soon arrived: Kevin Bacon as Hellfire Club baddie Sebastian Shaw, rocking an ascot and talking business with Jones; Fassbender and James McAvoy looking stylish and concerned alongside some of their mutant students; a helmet-clad Fassbender as Magneto ; and McAvoy employing Xavier’s gift of telepathy. Most recently, looks at Magento from behind and the full X-Men logo were published on Wednesday, ahead of the trailer premiere. “I’m a fan of X-Men. We’re not bastardizing X-Men, I’m trying to get them back to being whole again,” Vaughn said. “It’s definitely more serious and more realistic, and I think that’s something that had to happen. That’s my feeling about the world we live in right now. I think the glossy colorful superhero film sorta had its day.” Check out everything we’ve got on “X-Men: First Class.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com . ‘American Idol’ Season 10 Premiere: New Judges In New Jersey

Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez shine in their debut, judging crazy good and just plain crazy singers. By Gil Kaufman Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez on “American Idol” Photo: FOX There’s a very good reason “American Idol” page has been the top show on TV for the past six years running: Its producers know how to milk the drama, cue the laughs and suck you in with just the right mix of goofy, crazy good and, well, just plain crazy singers. All that and more was on display on the first night of the show’s 10th season on Wednesday (January 19), an evening “Idol” fans have been patiently waiting for since last summer when things went a bit haywire with their favorite show. Though “Idol” normally exists inside a bubble that is immune to the outside world, there was no getting around the earthshaking drama that occurred over the past seven months, including the departure of founding lead judge Simon Cowell and the exit of short-timers Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi. Rules were changed , the age limit was lowered to 15 and just about every name in the pop world was bandied about as a possible replacement for Cowell. So it was fitting that the top of Wednesday night’s show included a montage of the rabid speculation about who the new judges would be. And, despite assuring viewers that this season is not about the new kids on the block — Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler and pop star Jennifer Lopez — but about the singers, there was also a splashy montage that followed introducing the new panelists, packed with plenty of glamour shots and slow-motion catwalk struts. What nobody knew was how these two new faces would fit into the well-established “Idol” mix. The good news is, they slipped in just fine, and, in fact, Tyler quickly proved to be just the breath of fresh (and sometimes wacky) air the show needed going into the season of uncertainty. The first stop on the televised audition rounds was New Jersey, and right away, the new judges asserted their personalities, with Lopez fondly remembering a previous contestant and giving her some tough-love advice on making it in Hollywood. Tyler’s charms shone through in nearly every audition, including one in which he mimed along, stomping his feet and rapping his knuckles on the table to the Ray Charles song “Hallelujah I Love Her So.” The show’s first 15-year-old auditioner, Pennsylvania’s Kenzie Palmer, did a nice job on Carrie Underwood’s “We’re Young and Beautiful,” but Lopez was the only one feeling it until she convinced her cohorts to rethink their votes with a little of her Jenny From the Block sass. As always, the real test came when the clunkers stepped to the big “Idol” logo and blew it. “You gotta pull those wild horses in,” Tyler counseled one contestant, as Lopez struggled to say no and break a heart. “This is awful. Oh my God, I hate this!” she wailed in mock pain, biting her lip while saying “no” even as Tyler quickly got the hang of letting the kids down easy. The night’s first heartstring moment came when 16-year-old Robbie Rosen — who spent some of his childhood in a wheelchair — sang a soulful take on the Beatles’ “Yesterday” and won over the panel with his schoolboy charm. “Beautiful!” Tyler said to the kid who had watched every season of the show and long dreamt of getting his shot. They also fell for spunky Southern belle Victoria Huggins, 16, of Lumberton, North Carolina, who surprised the judges with a full-throated “Midnight Train to Georgia” and charmed them with her oversize personality. As always in the early rounds, it was mostly a parade of crackpots, nasal wheezers and goofy white guys in plaid shirts singing R&B — badly. “Did you eat a lot of paint chips as a child?” Tyler asked after a murderous take on a Tina Turner tune. Whereas Cowell used to slay them with meanness, Tyler seemed to have instantly perfected the art of the playful, entertaining putdown, adding a new wrinkle to the judge’s mix. The king of the reject singers was Japanese native Yoji “Pop” Asano, a 25-year-old Brooklyn student who sang (OK, squeaked) Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the U.S.A.” like nobody ever has, or should, while tossing in some spastic Michael Jackson dance moves. And then there are the ones you never see coming, like twitchy Ashley Sullivan, 25, who confused the panel with a bombastic show tune that initially got her the boot. But when the waterworks started coming and Sullivan’s quirky (OK, unhinged) personality started to shine, Lopez and Tyler couldn’t bear to say no, putting her through to Hollywood over Randy Jackson’s objections. Yonkers, New York, native Melinda Ademi, a 16-year-old daughter of immigrant refugees from war-torn Kosovo, had the kind of dramatic story arc custom-made for “Idol.” But she also happened to have some serious pipes too. Her “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys won her a golden ticket, inspiring Tyler to quip, “You won the lottery twice.” Other promising prospects included 20-year-old Times Square singing waitress Devyn Rush, who did a nicely nuanced job on a jazzy “God Bless the Child.” Lopez, who knows a thing or two about being a glamour puss, advised Rush to match her golden inside with some glittery duds that would make her look like a star as well. Staten Island’s Brielle Von Hugel had another heartstring-tugging backstory. In addition to being a fresh-faced beauty with a flower in her hair, she grew up crooning with her doo-wop-singing dad, who was diagnosed with throat cancer before her sweet 16. Her “Endless Love” melted hearts, and the judges made it official after bringing her Pops in to witness her golden-ticket moment. As is often the case, the producers saved the best for last, with tough-luck Bronx kid Travis Orlando, 16, telling his tale of surviving his borough’s mean streets and life in a shelter before doing a soulful Jason Mraz-like take on the Beatles’ “Eleanor Rigby.” Tyler asked for some more, so Orlando served up a scatty slide through Mraz’s “I’m Yours” that worked for the panel. They brought out his ecstatic twin brother and overjoyed mom, who squeezed him in a family sandwich as Lopez told him to “really bring it in Hollywood, OK?” Who was your favorite from the “Idol” premiere? This Week In ‘American Idol’: From Premiere To ‘Pants On The Ground’

We take a look back at moments in ‘Idol’ history before season 10 kicks off. By Katie Byrne Kara DioGuardi and Katrina “Bikini Girl” Darrell onstage at the 2009 “American Idol” finale Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images/FOX To celebrate the 10th season of “American Idol” (does that make anyone else feel ancient?), we’re digging into the MTV News archives each week to take a look at monumental moments in “Idol” history. Back in 2002, Kelly Clarkson was just a gleam in America’s eye, not the chart-topping pop/rock diva she’s become. Will the new season — which kicks off Wednesday night (January 19) — find just as stellar a superstar? Only time will tell. Until then, let’s take a look back at This Week in “Idol”: 2010: General Larry Platt Drops Trou Of all the original songs heard during the audition rounds, none made a bigger impact on pop culture than General Larry Platt’s “Pants on the Ground.” At the time, we declared that the ode to saggy drawers “was no ‘I Am Your Brother.’ ” Did “I Am Your Brother” get covered by Jimmy Fallon as Neil Young and teach Justin Bieber the value of a belt ? Not so much. 2009: Kara DioGuardi vs. Bikini Girl During Kara DioGuardi’s first night on the show , “Idol” viewers were wondering what kind of impression she would leave. Their questions were answered when the new judge got into the cattiest of all catfights with Katrina “Bikini Girl” Darrell, an auditioner wearing nothing more than a two-piece who fancied herself the next Mariah Carey. DioGuardi defended her claws-out attack on the “Idol” wannabe but also gave Darrell props for self-promotion. “To her credit, she’s gotten so much attention. It was probably a good call to wear the bikini at the end of the day,” DioGuardi said at the time. “But we wouldn’t be talking about the bikini if she killed the song.” 2008: Not-So-Undiscovered Talent “American Idol” has always prided itself in giving ordinary people a shot at an extraordinary music career. But what if the “Idol” contestants weren’t so ordinary? Heading into season seven of the reality juggernaut, fans were outraged to learn that two early favorites — Kristy Lee Cook and Carly Smithson — both had previous recording contracts. Executive producer Ken Warwick defended the hopefuls’ professional pasts : “The truth of the matter is, there are too many people who come on to audition for us to go into all their backgrounds. We judge it purely on, when they walk through the door, if they have a record company attached to them already, then we’re not interested. If they have a management contract, they’ve got to lose it. … We take them on the merits of ‘Can they sing or not?’ ” But that explanation didn’t cut it for some “Idol” watchers . “I don’t think I’m liking the direction ‘AI’ is heading,” one fan told MTV News in January 2008. “What happened to undiscovered talent like Kellie Pickler and Elliott Yamin, that are regular people with side jobs and school and stuff?” 2006: Brittenum Twins in Double Trouble Terrell and Derrell Brittenum are probably best remembered for their disruptive Hollywood Week appearance, but just after their initial auditions, the media caught wind of their equally disruptive criminal past. As it turned out, Terrell Brittenum was in jail when America was introduced to his smooth singing voice, and Derrell was wanted by police. Both were charged in Rockdale County, Georgia, with forgery, theft by deception and financial identity fraud when the brothers allegedly used another man’s identity to buy a car. Legal issues or no, the twins’ “Idol” chances were done in by their Hollywood Week tantrums. 2003: Dunkleman, Out Brian who? Original “Idol” co-host Brian Dunkleman chose to leave the show after its first season to pursue a career in stand-up comedy and acting, leaving Ryan Seacrest to man the ship solo — and create a media empire in the meantime. Dunkleman has since appeared on VH1’s “Celebrity Fit Club” and admitted to Howard Stern that his “Idol” exit might not have been the best move. 2002: This … Is “American Idol” Nine years ago, a little singing competition judged by a prickly British guy, a behind-the-scenes music producer and a has-been pop star premiered. It had “surefire hit” written all over it, right? Well, not really. But the show gained steam each week, powered by the raw talent of Kelly Clarkson, Justin Guarini and Tamyra Gray and the “how mean can he get?” critiques of Simon Cowell. A national sensation was born, and we haven’t looked back since. [ Editor’s note: Sure, the show premiered in June, not January, but we can’t leave out the biggest “Idol” moment of them all! ] Will the latest “Idol” makeover keep it trucking for another 10 years or stop it dead in its tracks? We’ll have to wait until next year’s This Week in “Idol” to find out … Don’t miss our “American Idol” live stream “Judging the Judges: An ‘Idol’ Without Simon,” featuring post-show analysis from Jim Cantiello and special guests, on MTV.com tonight at 10 p.m. ET.
