Georgia election results 2010

Republican candidate for Georgia governor John Oxendine, left, shakes hands with supporter John Smith, of McDonough, as primary election results come in on election night, in Atlanta, Tuesday July 20, 2010. It#39;s been a long, rather uneventful primary election day in Georgia. Turnout seemed to be pretty low. Poll complaints were relatively few. No one got hurt in any bizarre dust-ups. A total success but a very boring total success. Now we see who makes it to the November ballot — or who has

The Obama Administration Finally Does Something Right…But Where Is ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CBS, and CNN When Barrak Needs Them? And Hmmmm Where’s the Story?

Until yesterday, Shirley Sherrod was Georgia Director of Rural Development for the USDA. Earlier in the day at Big Government, Andrew Breitbart put up a video that exposed Ms. Sherrod as someone all too willing to discriminate based on race. Within hours of the video's release, USDA Director Tom Vilsack announced Sherrod's resignation, and in the process issued an exceptionally strong condemnation (“We are appalled by her actions … Her actions were shameful … she gave no indication she had attempted to right the wrong she had done to this man”). The NAACP, at whose Freedom Fund Banquet Sherrod spoke of her discriminatory posture, and at which the audience seemed to indicate approval of her outlook, followed a short time later, virtually echoing Vilsack. So I guess we're supposed to forget about Shirley Sherrod from this point forward? Network Morning Shows Ignore Resignation of USDA Official Who Made Racist Comments at NAACP Meeting

On Monday, Andrew Breitbart, on his blog Big Government, revealed video of a Department of Agriculture official making racially charged comments at a 2009 NAACP meeting. While the media were quick to jump on the civil rights organization accusing the tea party of racism last week, they have failed to provide any coverage of this controversy. The comments were made by the USDA’s Georgia Director of Rural Development Shirley Sherrod at a 2009 NAACP Freedom Fund dinner in Georgia. As the video clearly shows, Sherrod’s description of discriminating against white farmers was well received by the audience. The comments, which were reported throughout the day Monday on Fox News, stirred so much controversy that Sherrod resigned Monday night and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack was forced to issue a statement on the matter: ““There is zero tolerance for discrimination at USDA, and I strongly condemn any act of discrimination against any person.” As NewsBusters’ Noel Sheppard earlier reported , none of the network evening news broadcasts touched the story on Monday . On Tuesday, the CBS Early Show, NBC’s Today, and ABC’s Good Morning America were all silent on the controversy and resignation. However, all three morning shows did manage to focus on a recent verbal gaffe made by Sarah Palin. —Kyle Drennen is a news analyst at the Media Research Center. You can follow him on Twitter here.

USDA’s Shirley Sherrod VIDEO: Breitbart Exposes REAL RACISTS THE NAACP…

Breitbart hits NAACP with promised video of racism HotAir.Com July 19, 2010 by Ed Morrissey The NAACP is about to learn one of the most basic of all lessons in life — those who live in glass houses should avoid provoking a stone-throwing war. After the civil-rights organization threatened to issue a condemnation of Tea Party activism by equating it with racism (a position from which they ultimately retreated), Andrew Breitbart announced that he would publish at least one video of the NAACP itself cheering racism. Breitbart delivers on that promise today at Big Government, showing USDA official Shirley Sherrod explain to an appreciative NAACP audience in July 2009 how she deliberately withheld information from a white farmer in Georgia trying to save his land and his business: Click to watch….USDA’s Shirley Sherrod VIDEO: … http://ctpatriot1970.wordpress.com/2010/07/19/usdas-shirley-sherrod-video-breitb… added by: ctpatriot1970

2 Ga. officers out after stun gun video surfaces

One officer was fired and another quit after a rural Georgia woman who called police to complain of a prowler was zapped repeatedly with a stun gun. Ryan Smith of the Lumpkin Police Department has resigned and Tim Murphy, of Richland Police Department, was fired for using pepper spray on the woman, Janice Wells. Wells, 57, says she feared a prowler was outside her Richland house. A minute-long dashboard video from Smith's patrol car shows the officer pulling up to assist another officer. What happens is largely hidden by an open police cruiser door, but Wells can be heard screaming “Don't do that! Don't do that!” as a stun gun is heard repeatedly zapping. Authorities say the April 26 struggle began when Wells wouldn't tell police the name of an acquaintance who had been at her house. Lumpkin Police Chief Steven Ogle says the video is shocking. http://rawstory.com/rs/2010/0713/2-ga-officers-stun-gun-video-surfaces/ added by: treewolf39

Time Magazine Isn’t Chicken about Debunking Organic Eggs

Perhaps the mainstream media counted their chickens before they hatched. In a surprising admission, a July 8 Time magazine story revealed that organic eggs are no healthier than factory eggs. In the past, Time has championed organic foods and green lifestyles . Still, the egg story included a survey of egg prices in a random city – Athens, Georgia – and predictably, the survey discovered factory eggs were only $1.69 a dozen whereas organic eggs ranged from $3.99 to $5.38 a dozen. Time noted a new study that found the organic eggs are not healthier, despite the higher price tag.

The couple managed to keep their nuptials under wraps until the big day on Saturday. By Jocelyn Vena Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher (file) Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ Wireimage Carrie Underwood and Ottawa Senators hockey player Mike Fisher tied the knot on Saturday at the Ritz-Carlton, Reynolds Plantation, a resort near Oconee National Forest in Greensboro, Georgia, according to CMT News . It had been rumored that the pair would make it official this weekend and they did as expected. They said their vows under a tent in front of 250 family and friends, People.com reports. The service included bible readings and classical music. Underwood wore a Chantilly lace gown by Monique Lhuillier. Her bridesmaids also wore dresses by the designer. E! Online reports that other country superstars including Tim McGraw and Faith Hill were in attendance. “We could not feel more blessed to have found each other and to have shared this day with our friends and family that mean so much to us!” the newlyweds said in a joint statement to People that they signed as “Mike & Carrie Fisher.” The wedding planner described the whole affair as “a spiritual expression of their love.” It reportedly cost upwards of $500,000, and security was so tight that guests weren’t even told where they were going until they boarded planes to the resort, which was booked exclusively for the event. The couple plans to live in Nashville and Peterborough, Ontario. As for the honeymoon, when Underwood spoke to UsMagazine.com about it last month, she said that it was all up to Fisher to plan. “That was Mike’s project,” she said. “It’s a surprise. I have no clue where we are going, which is nice. I know it will be warm, that’s about it.” The pair got engaged in December 2009. They met in October 2008 at one of Underwood’s concerts in Toronto. Before taking home several Buckle trophies at last month’s CMT Awards , she told Us, “No matter what happens, I go home a winner. I have the biggest prize, the guy sitting next to me. Win or lose, he is proud of me. Of course, it’s nice to share the good times too!” Leave well-wishes for the couple in the comments below! Jon Bon Jovi: Living on a Prayer, Limping on a Stage

When the union went on strike, did Tommy give up? When tips at the diner were sparse, did Gina throw in her apron? No and no. Therefore, legendary rocker Jon Bon Jovi – inspired by the characters he created for the iconic single “Livin on a Prayer” – continued with his concert in New Jersey over the weekend, despite a serious leg injury sustained during the set. Said a spokesperson afterward: “Jon Bon Jovi sustained a torn calf muscle. [He] made light of the injury and went on to close the show… The band ended the night together, thanking the capacity hometown crowd, and assisting Jon off the stage.” The development won’t stop Bon Jovi from playing every stop of its tour this summer.
