Getty Images Tyler Perry Donates To Harvey Relief, Gives To Joel Osteen Tyler Perry released a video on his Facebook page announcing that he is donating $1 million to different efforts that go toward helping those affected by Hurricane Harvey. He explained that he was dispersing his money among different organizations, $250,000 going to Beyonce’s pastor, Rudy Rasmus, who founded the Houston non-profit Bread of Life. Another $250,000, he explained, he is giving to none other that Joel Osteen, then proceeded to defend the pastor whose been catching heat for his greedy ways all week. Perry defended his mans Joel and said he understands why he didn’t open the doors of the church for shelter immediately. He said about the incident, “I know there’s been some controversy about Joel Osteen and him not opening the doors of the church. Let me tell you something: Joel and Victoria are amazing people. There’s no way they would lock people out of the church and not let people in for shelter. There were some safety concerns…I’m sending $250,000 to Lakewood to make sure that they can get all of the supplies people need, and I know that they will. That’s the kind of person he is.” Oh no baby, what is you doing? Of course it’s a blessing to donate money to the victims of such a horrendously devastated area, but he could have found somewhere else to donate. Joel Osteen has been stumbling his way through interviews trying to defend his decision not to open the church until receiving backlash, but now he’s got Tyler Perry by his side to defend him. SMH.
