Javier Bardem To Guest-Star On ‘Glee’

Oscar winner is expected to appear as a ‘rock star’ on the musical hit show. By Mawuse Ziegbe Javier Bardem Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images “Glee” has scored fans by covering infectious pop hits from musical mega-stars, but the smash TV show is also lining up some A-list Hollywood talent for its upcoming season. Academy Award-winning actor Javier Bardem is expected to guest-star on “Glee” when the show returns for season two. Entertainment Weekly reports that the Oscar-winning Spaniard will play a “rock star” who makes friends with Gleek Artie (played by Kevin McHale). The magazine’s website reports that Bardem became a fan of the show after viewing the entire first season of the breakout TV phenomenon in a single week. Apparently the actor, who is known for more dramatic flicks such as “No Country for Old Men” and “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” is up for the chance to be a part of the song-and-dance juggernaut. “We’re going to rock the house,” Bardem said, adding that he plans to mix up the show’s catalog of dance-floor-friendly fare. “We’re going to do some heavy metal,” said Bardem. ” Spanish heavy metal, which is the worst. ” The entertainment website also reports that the upcoming guest role comes after Bardem brought up the idea to “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy. Bardem and Murphy worked together on this summer’s Julia Roberts-helmed flick, “Eat, Pray, Love,” which is based on the best-selling memoir. Bardem isn’t the only Hollywood heavyweight to pass through the halls of William McKinley High. “How I Met Your Mother” star and Emmy Awards host Neil Patrick Harris appeared on the show, Broadway diva Idina Menzel popped up as a coach of the rival team, Vocal Adrenaline, and Olivia Newton-John stopped by to revamp her 1981 hit “Physical.” Related Photos The Year In ‘Glee’ What Other ‘Glee’ Music Videos Do We Want To See?

Eminem’s Recovery Dominates Billboard 200

Miley Cyrus’ Can’t Be Tamed debuts at #3, behind Drake’s Thank Me Later. By Gil Kaufman Eminem Photo: Kevin Mazur/ Getty Images Guess who’s back? Eminem is notching his sixth #1 album in a row with Recovery , which sold more than 741,000 copies last week. Those numbers dwarfed the figures for the all of the rest of the top 10 on next week’s Billboard 200 albums chart, as Slim Shady put up the best first-week numbers since 2008, far surpassing year’s other big debuts (Drake, Lady Antebellum, Sade). Proving once again that despite the album’s early leak, his fans will still come out to support the Detroit MC, Em’s massive haul pushes last week’s #1, Drake ‘s Thank Me Later down to #2. Sales for Drake’s debut cratered by 65 percent to 157,000, but the melodic Young Money MC still passed the gold mark in just two weeks, according to numbers provided by Nielsen SoundScan. Miley Cyrus had a rough landing for her more mature Can’t Be Tamed, which comes in at #3 on sales of 102,000, less than half of what 2008’s Breakout did in its debut week (371,000). And though he still hasn’t reached his goal of snagging a #1 debut on the U.S. charts, metal legend Ozzy Osbourne ‘s latest solo effort, Scream, lands at #4 after moving 81,000 copies. It’s followed at #6 by the chart bow from the Roots ‘ long-in-the-works How I Got Over (51,000). In a relatively slow week on the charts, the rest of the top 10 include: Now 34 (#5, 55,000), Jack Johnson ‘s To the Sea (#7, 44,000), Justin Bieber ‘s My World 2.0 (#8, 43,000), Sarah McLachlan ‘s Laws of Illusion (#9, 38,000) and the soundtrack to “Eclipse” (#10, 38,000). Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers ‘ Mojo crashes down nine spots in week two to #11, as sales dipped by 74 percent to 33,000. After 24 weeks in the top 10, Lady Antebellum ‘s Need You Now has dropped to #12 on sales of 32,000. Meanwhile, Christina Aguilera ‘s Bionic continues to struggle, as the singer’s latest slips out of the top 10 after just three weeks, dropping to #22 as sales trailed off by 54 percent to 18,000. One of Aguilera’s collaborators, singer Sia , debuts at #37 with We Are Born (11,000), while soul mama Macy Gray is right behind at #38 with Sellout (11,000). As the world marked the one-year anniversary of his death, Michael Jackson ‘s Number Ones collection rockets up more than 50 spots to #42 on sales of just under 10,000 (one of several Jackson titles to march back up the charts this week). ‘Eclipse’ Fans Are More ‘Passionate’ Than ‘Spider-Man’ Fans: Bryce Dallas Howard

‘I feel, honestly, pressure being part of it because you don’t want to let anyone down,’ ‘Twilight’ star says. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Bryce Dallas Howard in “Eclipse” Photo: Summit Bryce Dallas Howard has done the mega-blockbuster thing before, playing blonde college gal Gwen Stacy in “Spider-Man 3.” Making the publicity rounds for that film back in 2007, Howard encountered many a gleefully obsessed fan of the web-slinging wonderboy. Yet nothing could prepare her for the zealous intensity of the “Twilight” devotees she met after being cast as Victoria in “Eclipse.” “I feel, honestly, pressure being part of it because you don’t want to let anyone down,” Howard told MTV News recently. “People, myself included, have stayed up at night reading the books over and over and over again, and watching the films over and over and over again, and really loving it so, so intensely. Whereas ‘Spider-Man,’ people are sentimental about it, they love it and are into it and that kind of stuff. Whereas this is passionate.” Adding on the anxiety for Howard was the fact that she entered the “Twilight” universe in a controversial manner. Last July, Summit Entertainment suddenly recast the role of Victoria, booting Rachelle Lefevre from the franchise after two films and signing Howard to take over the part . Rather than inventing her own take on the character, Howard found herself altering her usual approach on set. “[T]he role and the character have been established. It’s so important to honor that in terms of the storytelling,” she said. “When I do a film, I always have all these questions that I’m asking myself, and [for Victoria] someone has mastered that and answered all those questions. Why reinvent the wheel? She created an incredible character.” Are “Twilight” fans the most passionate in the movie world? Sound off below! Hard Rock Calling Festival Acts Weigh In On Best British Slang

Corinne Bailey Rae, the Hives and more count ‘cheeky,’ ‘sort it out’ and some naughty obscenities among fave Brit-isms. By Matt Elias Corinne Bailey Rae at Hard Rock Calling 2010 Photo: MTV News The Brits have a long history of catch-tastic slang, from the cheeky monkeys to the shagadelic mods. Over the weekend at the Hard Rock Calling festival in London, MTV News asked some of the artists sharing the bill to give us their favorite words and phrases. Consider it British Slang 101 — it might be useful should you ever find yourself across the pond. The Gaslight Anthem Cu–: “I love the Northern U.K. people when you can say cu– for anything,” dummer Benny Horowitz said. “Like if I hear an American girl say that word, it just makes me, ugh, it’s gross, but when they say it, it’s hilarious. We toured with a band called Former Cell Mates who basically just called us that about 15, 20 times a day: ‘What’s up, you f—ing cu–?’ ” Sort it out: I’d say mine would be ‘sort it out,’ ” bassist Alex Levine said. “MTV, sort your stuff out. Corinne Bailey Rae Don’t be daft: “I always say, ‘don’t be daft,’ apparently, and that was pointed out by my American makeup artist. She was like, ‘You’re always saying, “don’t be daft.” ‘ So that means ‘don’t worry about it.’ Your Italian-Americans might say ‘fuggedaboutit’ — it’s the Yorkshire equivalent of ‘forget about it.’ ” The Hives Wanker: “Oi, wanker!” frontman Pelle Almqvist shouted. “A packet of crisps and a pint of lager, s’il vous pla

Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Oprah Top Forbes 2010 Celebrity Power List

James Cameron, Sandra Bullock, Britney and Madonna also named most powerful celebs of 2010. By Gil Kaufman Lady Gaga Photo: Noel Vasquez/ Getty Images Lady Gaga has won a lot of accolades during the past year and met some pretty impressive dignitaries , but crashing the Forbes magazine annual World’s Most Powerful Celebrities list puts her in some truly rarified company. The singer, who launched her latest iteration of her never-ending Monster Ball Tour in Montreal on Monday night, debuts on the list this year at #4. She landed there thanks to high marks for her Web visibility (#1 on the list) and a $62 million haul between June 2009 and June 2010, $31 million of which came from touring (after a gross of $95 million), with much of the rest courtesy of deals with Virgin Mobile, Polaroid, Monster Cable and MAC. Gaga joins a top 10 that is dominated by women, including the once-again #1, Oprah Winfrey, who retook her top rank thanks to $315 million in earnings after ceding it last year to Angelina Jolie (now #18). The list ranks celebs based on earnings over the previous 12 months, as well as visibility in print, TV, radio, online and social media. Beyonc

Barrino, who is the brother of “American Idol” winner Fantasia, recently joined B.o.B as an artist on T.I.’s Grand Hustle record label, and their performance served as the singer’s introduction. T.I. came out to chat with B.o.B and Barrino following their performance. “This is my first time actually attending and being nominated three times,” B.o.B said. “I feel like three [nominations are] a charm.” “I’m looking forward to the surprise performances,” T.I. added, donning a blue suit with a matching tie. “[B.o.B] don’t even know yet, but I hooked it up. I got you performing on the big stage. So I’m looking forward to that performance, and it’s going to be a collaboration that the world ain’t ready for.” In a nod to “Glee,” the Crenshaw High Elite choir sang renditions of each of the Viewer’s Choice Award nominees a capella, including Beyonc

Glee Reality Search Canceled, But Will Fox Still Cast from the Audition Pool?

It’s hard to believe that Glee creator Ryan Murphy could believe in the pitfalls of overexposure — what with all those Glee soundtracks and Madonna tributes and White House appearances — but today’s news proves that Murphy thinks too much of Glee can be a bad thing. The planned Glee reality series, an American Idol -like competition that would air in the run-up to season two and cast three new roles , has been shelved . I know what you’re thinking: What about all those precious MySpace audition videos? Will their wannabe stars ever make it to regionals?

Newsweek’s Hayes Hater Gets a Promotion

After Newsweek’s Ramin Setoodeh slammed several openly gay actors — and earned stinging rebukes from Kristin Chenoweth and Sean Hayes — some called for the newsmagazine to fire the writer. Instead, he’s gotten the equivalent of a promotion: Setoodeh will leave the struggling Newsweek to become a senior writer on People’s news and human-interest team, it was announced today. Yes, that’s in addition to the offer extended to Setoodeh to visit the Glee set and, uh, “learn about diversity.” Some self-hating gays have all the luck! [ NY Observer ]

Tilda Swinton’s Flash Mob

We can all agree that the recent Ghostbusters and Glee flash mobs were a little bit adorable, but is the fad played out? Not if Tilda Swinton has anything to say about it. She’s planning a flash dance on June 26 to The Avalon Boy’s “At the Ball” in order to promote her new 8 1/2 Foundation, explaining , “It’s a song from Laurel and Hardy’s funniest film Way Out West . In the film, Stan and Ollie do a wee dance, which is rubbish compared to Cyd Charisse or Gene Kelly, or any trained dancer, and yet it’s one of the most charming, amusing, gentle, child-like musical numbers in the whole of cinema history.” Book your trip to Edinburgh now!
