Justin Bieber Calls Selena Gomez ‘An Amazing Person’

‘She’s really cool,’ teen sensation says about his rumored girlfriend. By Mawuse Ziegbe Justin Bieber attends the “Stuff Bieber’s Bus” press conference on Dec. 23 in Atlanta Photo: Prince Williams/FilmMagic ATLANTA — As the debate among teen girls rages on about whether Justin Bieber is dating his tourmate, Disney princess Selena Gomez, the megastar teen is confident about one thing: Gomez’s awesomeness. MTV News caught up with the 16-year-old sensation as he got the word out about his holiday toy-collecting campaign, “Stuff Bieber’s Bus,” in Atlanta on Thursday (December 23), and while he didn’t suggest that the two were more than friends, he did gush a little bit about the “Wizards of Waverly Place” actress. “She’s really cool,” Bieber said. “She’s an amazing person.” The “Baby” singer also commented about the nonstop fan frenzy and media mania that accompany any rumors about who the Biebs is or is not dating, and said that despite his outsize fame, he plans to keep his private life private. “I think that people are always gonna be interested in my personal life … but I gotta keep some things to myself,” he said of the constant buzz surrounding his relationship with Gomez. “I’m just having fun being a teenager.” Speculation that the fresh-faced duo are more than friends has ramped up ever since the two were spotted hanging out and getting pancakes arm-in-arm. However, Gomez has batted away rumors that she and the “Somebody to Love” crooner are anything more than buddies who occasionally enjoy getting a bite to eat. “It was pancakes. Who doesn’t like pancakes?” Gomez told MTV News earlier this month. Gomez has also talked about her “brotherly” relationship with Bieber , saying that she tries to keep an eye out for him as he continues to skyrocket toward megastardom. “I love Justin. When he first started to come over from Canada, his manager contacted me and he just said that he would like to meet me and he was just such a good kid,” she told MTV News in February. “And I feel like a big sister now, ’cause I want to protect him. So I’m always very cautious with him, but he is so talented and he’s so sweet, so that just started us wanting to work together. Now he’s just become one of my good friends.” What do you think of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez’s relationship? Let us know in the comments! Selena Gomez Is Just Too Cute

Here’s Selana Gomez walking down the streat the other day looking like a wholesome young lady. I don’t know what else to tell you, I know she’s over eighteen now, but I just can’t bring myself to say anything mean or sexual about this chick, she’s too cute, I just want to bounce her up and down on my lap… For like forty-five minutes or so.

Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo Reflects On Memories Tour, Plans More Shows In 2011

‘To see 5,500 people singing along to every last word through every song was incredibly validating,’ he says of Pinkerton performances. By Matt Elias Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo Photo: Tim Mosenfelder/Getty Images With Weezer set to hit Boston on Tuesday night (December 14) for the next stop on the band’s Memories Tour, playing The Blue Album one night and Pinkerton the next, frontman Rivers Cuomo chatted with MTV News about revving up the Weezer time machine. For Cuomo, the shows are an “emotional, cathartic experience,” especially during the Pinkerton set. “The last time we played all of those songs, they went over like a lead balloon,” Cuomo said. “And I just remember that feeling of just total rejection. And then to see 5,500 people singing along to every last word through every song on the album, even the really difficult ones, was incredibly validating for me.” Just 10 years ago, Cuomo didn’t want to play any Pinkerton songs; it was just too painful. But he’s since embraced the songs, thanks to the legion of vocal Weezer fans who pleaded for them over the years. “Now we get to give them the whole thing, and it’s a real joy for us,” Cuomo beamed. It’s fitting that his favorite song to play on this tour comes from Pinkerton, a song called “Across the Sea.” Cuomo described it as “the most personal and intimate and the most ‘me’ of anything I’ve ever written.” So when he saw the audience respond to it so well on their first night of the tour, it was a huge moment for him. They might not have seen it under his T-shirt, but Cuomo said he had goose bumps all over during the performance. And while Cuomo clued us into the Blue/Pinkerton tour idea on the set of Weezer’s “Memories” video back in August, the thought started way before then and way smaller. “I started thinking about doing just one show to commemorate the reissue of Pinkerton,” Cuomo said. “The album was just reissued last month, and I think it was probably like in February of this year that I started thinking, ‘Oh, you know, when we reissue the album, we should probably do a show in L.A. to commemorate the reissue.’ And that turned into, ‘Well, why don’t we do The Blue Album too?’ And ‘Why don’t we take it around the country and do as many markets as we can?’ ” Even though the Memories Tour was only slated for a handful of cities (L.A., San Francisco, Boston, New York and Chicago), Weezer’s 2011 plans should keep the nostalgia ride going much further. “I’m sure Weezer will just keep touring, and I have a feeling that some of those shows will be these Memories shows, Blue and Pinkerton, and some of the shows will be more like greatest hits, depending on the show,” Cuomo said. Are you happy to hear that Weezer will keep bringing out their early hits on tour? Let us know in the comments!

Selena Gomez Dishes On ‘Monte Carlo’ Co-Star Cory Monteith

‘I’d love to sing with him one day,’ Gomez says of ‘Glee’ actor. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Selena Gomez Photo: Angela Weiss/ Getty Images Earlier this year, Selena Gomez , “Gossip Girl” star Leighton Meester and “Glee” star Cory Monteith romped around Europe shooting their 2011 flick “Monte Carlo.” The three co-stars all happen to be singers as well. “I remember Leighton and I would sing on set on ‘Monte Carlo,’ and Cory would be like, ‘I just left “Glee,” ‘ ” Gomez recalled to MTV News over the weekend at Z100’s Jingle Ball . “And then he’ll sing with us too.” She added that she’d love the chance to work with Monteith again soon. “He loves singing,” she dished. “And I’d love to sing with him one day, because he’s got a great voice.” When she spoke to us about it earlier this year, Gomez said she was “thrilled” about the film, which revolves around three friends who go to Monte Carlo after one of them is mistaken for a British heiress, and revealed a bit about what fans can expect from her character. “I play Grace. She’s from Texas, and she’s a girl who saved up money to go to Paris for the summer with her best friend,” she said of the flick , which also stars Katie Cassidy. “And lots of drama goes on, and it’s fun.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Monte Carlo.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Monte Carlo” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .

Selena Gomez Talks Justin Bieber Pancake Outing

Gomez bats away rumors of romance, saying, ‘We were both performing in the same place so we went and had pancakes together.’ By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez (file) Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber have been pals for a while, but rumors that the teen stars are more than friends ramped up when the pair were recently spotted getting pancakes arm-in-arm. Despite the mild PDA, Gomez denied there were any romantic overtones to the outing, saying instead that the duo were just getting a quick bite eat while they both had some free time in Philadelphia. “It was pancakes. Who doesn’t like pancakes?” Gomez told MTV News at the Jingle Ball 2010 in New York Friday, where she and the Biebs both hit the stage. “We were both performing in the same place so we went and had pancakes together. That’s all it is. All innocent.” In fact, Gomez has said the Canadian teen idol is more a brother and than a lover, explaining in February that she started looking out for Bieber as he started his journey toward superstardom. “I love Justin. When he first started to come over from Canada his manager contacted me and he just said that he would like to meet me and he was just such a good kid,” she explained. “And I feel like a big sister now, ’cause I want to protect him. So I’m always very cautious with him, but he is so talented and he’s so sweet, so that just started us wanting to work together. Now he’s just become one of my good friends.” Gomez is also rooting for her good friend at the 2011 Grammys where the pop sensation is up for two trophies, including Best New Artist. When asked who she thinks would take home the hardware between Bieber and fellow Canadian heartthrob Drake, Gomez put her money on the “Baby” crooner. “I would have to say Bieber just because I know how hard he works,” she told MTV News earlier this week. “I hope he wins, but I love Drake as well. It’s a really hard category so I don’t know who’s going to win, but of course I have to say Bieber.” What do you think Selena Gomez’ comments about Justin Bieber? Let us know in the comments! James Franco Is ‘Fascinated’ By ‘Twilight’

‘The go-to guys, Taylor and Rob, are in the tent [and] it’s almost like a ‘Brokeback Mountain’ scene,’ he tells MTV News of ‘Eclipse.’ By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz James Franco Photo: MTV News James Franco is becoming not only an actor-of-all-trades, what with his stints in dramas, comedies and soap operas, but also a bit of a Renaissance man, having gone back to school for a master’s degree, filming a documentary, etc. So it should come as no surprise that he has some very insightful thoughts on the phenomenon that is “Twilight.” When we caught up with Franco at the Toronto International Film Festival recently, where he was alongside director Danny Boyle promoting their buzzy “127 Hours,” we asked him his thoughts on the series. “I haven’t read the last one! I kind of know what happens … some very strange birth, right?” he asked rhetorically about Stephenie Meyer’s fourth book in the series, “Breaking Dawn.” “I read a part of it. I think I got to the sex scene, but it was so brief, I didn’t even know if it was the actual sex scene,” he admitted. “It was kind of a letdown after all that buildup.” But did he enjoy the three novels he has read? “I wouldn’t say I enjoy them, but I’m fascinated with them. I’m interested in the metaphor of the vampire placed in the high school setting and how a relationship with a vampire can stand in for general feelings that people have as teenagers,” he said. “And the obsession people have with that is also fascinating to me.” Franco also revealed that he has seen the three “Twilight” movies, enough to call out series superstars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner by first names and cite the infamous “tent scene” in the process. “The movies are interesting also because they’ve really become part of the whole ‘Twilight’ phenomenon, and it’s really hard to extricate those actors from the reading experience or just the phenomenon of ‘Twilight’ now. They’ve become a part of it to the point that the movies are almost commenting on themselves,” Franco said. “There will be a scene where the go-to guys, Taylor and Rob, are in the tent, it’s almost like a ‘Brokeback Mountain’ scene, where the two guys are talking in a tent and the girl is asleep, and they’re having, like, this romantic moment almost through her, in a way. One of them says, ‘Well, I’m hotter than you,’ and it’s almost like they’re winking at the fans, like to the Team Jacob or the Team Edwards.” Perhaps we should enlist Mr. Franco for further “Twilight” analysis … What do you think of Franco’s “Twilight” enthusiasm? Taylor Swift’s Speak Now Is ‘Amazing,’ Selena Gomez Says

‘She took her style and made it bigger. It’s going to be really good,’ singer says of her pal’s upcoming album. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Christina Garibaldi Selena Gomez Photo: MTV News On Tuesday, Selena Gomez will release her new album, A Year Without Rain . Fans already love its singles “Round & Round” and the title track, and now Gomez has the ultimate seal of approval on the album from her pal and fellow superstar Taylor Swift . “It was so funny, I got to see her and we played each other both of our records, and I was so excited,” Gomez told MTV News. “I’m so excited for her record ’cause it’s amazing. But then she heard mine and it’s so funny ’cause she’s very passionate and she’s very dramatic — which I think is why we’re friends because we’re both dramatic — but she has her favorites already.” So, what are the Swift-approved tracks? “She likes ‘Rock God and ‘Ghost of You’ a lot,” Gomez said. “But she definitely danced and had her little thing. She’s completely honest with me, so it was nice to have her feedback.” Gomez is just as stoked for Swift’s October release of her highly anticipated Speak Now album. “My favorite songs from her record would be ‘Dear John’ and another one … it’s number 13 on the record ’cause that’s her favorite number … it’s really sweet,” she teased. “There’s two that I’m absolutely in love with.” With fans already getting a taste of Swift’s new album thanks to “Mine” and the VMA-premiered track “Innocent” hitting the airwaves, Gomez thinks they’ll really love what they hear. “Her album is going to be awesome. I think people are gonna be really surprised. It’s not different [but] you just don’t really believe she could top it, in a way,” she explained. “She took her style and made it bigger. It’s going to be really good.” Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: Selena Gomez
