A damn shame. Man Uses Food Stamps To Eat Lobster And Sushi This guy said phuck the people who actually work for their meals. According to Mail Online A California ‘beach bum’ has no job, surfs and drinks when he wakes up every afternoon and has no intentions of finding employment anytime in the near future – yet, he eats lobster or gourmet sushi everyday. Jason Greenslate, 29, owes his successful culinary mooching to one thing: food stamps. Greenslate recently was profiled on Fox News for a special segment about the abuses of the nation’s food stamp program. And despite mooching off American taxpayers for a living, Greenslate is remarkably unapologetic, nor does he feel any shame for abusing a system designed to help people who truly are in need. During the segment, Greenslate is seen driving expensive cars, drinking beer and grilling lobsters with his friends. Before the cookout, cameras followed Greenslate into a grocery store and watched him purchase the food with his government-issued Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) card. With the card – which only needs to be renewed once a year – Greenslate is given $200 a month for food. There is no requirement that he even look for employment. Previously, there were stipulations that food stamp recipients with no family could only receive food stamps for three months every three years unless they had part time employment or were involved in a jobs program. The goal was to help people who couldn’t make ends meet, not supplement income so people could surf and drink beer. Really? Many of those types of restrictions were eliminated when President Barack Obama signed the 2009 stimulus bill, which allows people like Greenslate to abuse the system. On Thursday, Congress passed a bill that would reduce food stamp spending by five percent. Prior to the vote, Congressional leaders were shown the video featuring Greenslate. ‘You can no longer sit on your couch or ride a surfboard like Jason in California and expect the federal taxpayer to feed you,’ Congressman Tim Huelskamp said following the vote. Republicans in Congress have used Greenslate as the poster-child for the need for entitlement reform. But Democrats have cast aside that notion, claiming that he doesn’t represent the majority of the people who receive assistance. ‘I don’t give a damn about surfer dude,’ Democratic Congressman Jim McGovern said. ‘As far as I’m concerned, he can walk off the nearest pier. To suggest that he’s the face of SNAP is offensive.’ As for the Congressional vote, Greenslate noted, ‘I don’t think that one person should be the decision for 47 million people.’ SMH.

The engaged couple has gone the way of Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth , a rep for the actor confirmed today, saying in a statement to Just Jared: “ Chad Michael Murray and Kenzie Dalton quietly parted ways earlier in the year. Please respect their privacy at this time.” Call us cynical – or accurate, considering this news – but after six years without a wedding, perhaps the couple should have realized something was wrong. The U.S. House passed a short-term spending plan to continue funding government operations through mid-December but withhold funding for Obamacare. House Votes to Defund Obamacare In the never-ending battle over President Obama’s signature health-care law, the GOP fired the opening salvo in what promises to be a contentious 10 days. If the measure, which would extend government operations by only three months, or an alternative bill is not passed, the government will shut down. The legislation would fund federal agencies at an annual rate of over $986 billion but would also leave in place automatic spending cuts known as sequestration. Those are set to take place in January. The bill includes language to prohibit any funding going to implementing the health-care law, leading House GOP leaders to declare victory Friday. “The House has listened to the American people. Now it’s time for the United States Senate to listen to them as well,” said House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-OH). Also acknowledging that the proposal to end the health-care law is at the centerpiece of the budget plan was House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA). Whether it happens is another story. The Democratic-controlled Senate is expected to move quickly next week to strip the health-care provisions from the bill. Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said upon passage of the measure that any bill that defunds Obamacare “is dead” and “a waste of time” in the Senate. Still, House lawmakers voted by a 230-189 margin to approve the funding measure. Two Democrats voted for it. One Republican voted against it. “This place is a mess. We’re not here to expand government, but we’re not here to eliminate government,” House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said. “If the idea is to limit government, let’s work together to do that. But what is brought to the floor today is without a doubt a measure designed to shut down government.” The bill now moves to the Senate, where it has no chance of being passed in its current form. Tax Expert: “Staying Unmarried Is Tax Shelter For The Poor” He makes a valid point here on how “the system” works… Via CNS News: Federal tax expert Gene Steuerle said at a discussion on low-wage workers on Tuesday at the Capitol that government social welfare programs penalize low-income people for being married. “Staying unmarried is the tax shelter for the poor,” Steuerle, a fellow at the Urban Institute and former deputy assistant secretary of the Treasury for tax analysis in the Ronald Reagan administration, said at an event to release a survey commissioned by Oxfam America on low-wage workers in the United States. The survey states that 33 million Americans earn less than $10 an hour. Respondents to the survey (done by telephone from July 2 to July 9, 2013 of 804 low-wage workers) said they believe it is more common for middle-class people to fall out of the middle class (76 percent) than for low-income people to rise to the middle class (12 percent). Steuerle’s remarks followed those of Tianna Gaines-Turner, a child care worker from Philadelphia who earns $10 an hour and is raising three children with her husband, who works at a grocery store for $8 an hour. When CNSNews.com asked her to explain how she lost federal benefits when she decided to get married, Gaines-Turner shared her story. “They don’t encourage people to get married,” Gaines-Turner said. “A lot of these programs are set up for people to stay stagnated and to stay in the situation in which they are in.” Gaines-Turner explained that if she married the father of her children, who was living with them, she would lose benefits. If she told them she was living with the children’s father, the government would take action to make him pay child support and penalize her for having access to his income. “So basically I did not report that he lived in the home with us,” Gaines-Turner said. “I reported that I was a single parent. “If I had reported that he was in the home, they wanted to go after him for child support, because they want the fathers to pay to take care of their children,” said Gaines-Turner, who decided to forgo benefits to marry the father of her children.” Gaines-Turner said she thinks fathers should support their children, but couples should not be penalized for marrying and living in the same house with their children. “Unfortunately, the system is not set up – I’m not going to say reward – but it’s not set up to encourage people to have families; to build on what the American Dream is really about is family values,” Gaines-Turner said. “That’s what I was brought up on. “Family values, family dreams, is for two people who love each other to be able to get married,” Gaines-Turner said. “I wanted to show my children, especially my daughters, and my sons, that if you love this person and you want to be together, you do the right thing and you get married,” said Gaines-Turner, who also has three stepchildren. “You don’t stay shacked up. Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko addressed the commotion over the “gay propaganda” law Sunday, blaming the media for blowing it out of proportion. “I think this is kind of an invented problem,” he told reporters. “We don’t have a law banning non-traditional sexual relations, we have a different law.” Do they, though? Russian authorities recently confirmed that athletes and spectators visiting the city will be required to abide by the country’s laws, including its anti-gay legislation. However, Mutko said visitors in Sochi will still be “granted all rights and freedoms,” and threats to boycott the games are unlikely to come to fruition.
