Jimmy Fallon: Drinking Too Much? Headed to Rehab?

We’ve known for years that Jimmy Fallon has a problem with laughing. He used to often break character during skits on Saturday Night Live and he’ll frequently crack up over his own jokes while hosting The Tonight Show on NBC. But does Jimmy Fallon also have a drinking problem?  Concerns over the comedian’s penchant for boozing reached such a crescendo in January that NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt actually addressed the chatter with reporters . “He’s good. He doesn’t have a drinking problem,” Greenblatt said many months ago, adding simply: “He goes out and has fun. He’s had some accidents. Aside from that, he’s in better shape than he’s ever been.” The nature of those accidents, however, is what started some people talking about this issue. Fallon severed his ring finger on a table in June 2015. He chipped his tooth “trying to open medicine for his injured finger” a few months later, as Fallon himself described it. In October of last year, he cut his hand on a bottle of Jägermeister. And in September of this year, a pretty wasted Fallon was seen alone at an New York City punk bar at 3 a.m, which sparked this latest round of NBC concerns. According to The Hollywood Reporter, meanwhile, Josh Lieb recently stepped down as Tonight Show executive producer after signing a deal with Universal Television There could be any number of reasons why he would leave Fallon… but could the host’s drinking problem be among them? A network insider tells The New York Post that some executives “ feared Jimmy was splitting up with his wife over his drinking,” although the two have since patched things up. But this doesn’t mean all is well for Fallon. “He is a heavy drinker,” another source tells the newspaper. “He sees himself as somebody who needs image rehabilitation… He knows he needs to be responsible. He has two kids. He has cut back on his drinking.” And while Fallon still hosts the top-rated show on late night television, a few staff members have left to work for CBS rival James Corden. This has just made matters worse. “Fallon is insanely jealous of Corden,” a source tells Page Six, adding: “There’s been some upheaval, and Jimmy hasn’t handled it well. He’s at the top of his game, but he’s insecure.” Jimmy Fallon Interviews Hillary Clinton, Part 4 Jimmy Fallon Interviews Hillary Clinton, Part 3 Fallon is signed through 2021 with The Tonight Show and his actual numbers continue to blow away the competition. He has the full backing of NBC and isn’t going anywhere any time soon. “Jimmy is one of NBC’s biggest assets, and we’re extremely proud that The Tonight Show continues to be the late-night leader in all metrics, including ratings and social-media awareness,” Greenblatt tells The Post in a new statement. He concludes of Fallon: “He’s in a class by himself, and we’re also looking forward to him hosting the Golden Globes in January. “As a producer and star he delivers over 200 hours of television a year, and any suggestion that we have concerns about his behavior or have given him any kind of ‘warning’ is completely false.” View Slideshow: Jimmy Fallon: SLAMMED for Donald Trump Hair Tussle Fair enough. We’re not trying to start any salacious rumors here. We’re just hoping Fallon is okay and gets the help he needs; if, indeed, he actually needs it.

Bobak Ferdowsi: NASA "Mohawk Guy" Becomes Viral Sensation

Bobak Ferdowsi, mission controller for the NASA Mars Curiosity, has become a quasi-star on Twitter after a photo of him was released Monday morning. Nicknamed the “NASA Mohawk Guy” and/or the “hot nerd,” Bobak can largely thank his ‘do – with its red streaks and bleached stars – for his 15 minutes. Not that he’s interested in it. For Ferdowsi, it’s all about the mission, which saw the NASA Curiosity rover land on Mars Monday in a watershed moment. Ferdowsi became the talk of social media after the above image appeared in a montage of photos released by news outlets after Curiosity’s landed. Although his hair, smile and work with Curiosity are tailor-made for viral stardom, Bobak is still getting used to having all (or any) eyes on him. “Internet, you win this round. I’ll be back later, but thanks so much. Now going to celebrate with all my friends and team! #msl,” Ferdowsi tweeted . “Not rdy for the attention, but happy to show it takes all types to make @MarsCuriosity! Now if only my coworkers wld stop making fun of me ;).” There has even been a Tumblr made in his honor, which advises NASA to get more mohawks in the building … hard to argue with that campaign.

NBC Defends Ousting of Jack Osbourne from Stars Earn Stripes

NBC has responded to Sharon Osbourne’s accusation that it discriminated against her son Jack. The America’s Got Talent judge announced her resignation from that program this week, saying she simply couldn’t work any longer for a network that fired Jack from Stars Earn Stripes because he has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. But NBC Chairman Bob Greenblatt fired back today, explaining the stance of his network in more detail and admitting medical concerns did play a factor is choosing NOT to have Jack compete against other celebrities in military training exercises. Said Greenblatt: “We hold medical information in strict confidence and therefore cannot comment specifically about Jack, but as a company that cares deeply about the health and safety of everyone on our shows – especially one like ‘Stars Earn Stripes’ that requires dangerous water stunts, strenuous physical activity, and uses live ammunition – we required all potential participants to undergo medical vetting to ensure that they could safely participate. “Although we did not ask Jack to participate in the competition, we were able to offer him two substantial alternative roles on the show, both of which he declined. This network does not discriminate on any basis. “Our hearts go out to her, Ozzy, Jack and his family at this time.”

Donna Summer’s Music The Go-To For TV And Movies

‘Her songs are so iconic that people use them as shorthand,’ expert tells MTV News about late singer’s tunes being all over pop culture. By Kara Warner Donna Summer Photo: Fotos International/Getty Images The news of Donna Summer’s untimely passing Thursday (May 17) weighed heavily on all those who knew and loved the undisputed Queen of Disco. Despite the fact that “disco fever” lived and basically died in the 1970s, Summer’s music continues to live on. Her many unforgettable hits like “Last Dance,” “Love to Love You Baby” and “She Works Hard for the Money” transcended genres and left an indelible mark on all pop culture , from the music charts to television and film. A quick perusal of Summer’s eclectic IMDb page demonstrates the fact that her music is the go-to for filmmakers and show-runners looking for that perfect dance number in their TV show or film. “Her songs are so iconic that people use them as shorthand either to convey disco or those songs lend themselves to montage-type stuff,” Entertainment Weekly music editor Leah Greenblatt told MTV News. ” ‘She Works Hard for the Money’ is always used for when a lady is going about her business. Songs like ‘Love to Love You’ and ‘I Feel Love’ are almost like a ‘bow-chicka-bow-wow,’ in that they always convey sex, whether that’s in an ironic way or in a real way.” Two relatively recent comedic examples include the memorable love scene/orgy in “Zoolander” set to “Love to Love You” and Cameron Diaz’s group dance number in “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle,” set to “Last Dance.” “A lot of her songs were almost cinematic in the way that their lyrics and music were arranged,” Greenblatt said of the repeated use of Summer’s songs for television and film. “A lot of [scenes] can go out or end on ‘Last Dance.’ ‘She Works Hard for the Money’ is all about when a woman has to go out and earn in a movie; it’s the perfect music cue. And when someone is having a threesome with a Sherpa [like in ‘Zoolander’], her music was so great for that.” Greenblatt went on to say that Summer’s songs will continue to provide the soundtrack to key moments in our lives. For photos of Donna Summer through the years, click here. “There was a time when disco was really derided and dismissed, but it would be really hard to find a person over 25 or 30 who doesn’t have these songs as part of their DNA. Whether or not you liked disco, it’s really hard to deny her voice and her talent,” she said. “Her music stands out because she was such a great singer and because a lot of her songs were about emotions too. You can really feel in her voice that she means it. “Also, how many artists have music that has been featured on ‘Sex and the City,’ ‘Parks and Recreation’ and in ‘Frost/Nixon’?” Greenblatt added. “For whatever reason, comedians love to use her too. There’s the campy tributes but also a sincere love for her. And anytime anyone takes their clothes off [in TV or film], someone has got to play ‘Hot Stuff.’ ” Share your condolences for Donna Summer’s friends, family and fans in the comments or on Facebook .
