Britney Spears’ Femme Fatale Debuts At #1 On Billboard

Wiz Khalifa’s Rolling Papers comes in at #2. By Gil Kaufman Britney Spears Photo: Jive Make it an even half dozen. With the chart-topping bow next week of Femme Fatale, Britney Spears will notch her sixth Billboard 200 #1 debut thanks to first-week sales of 276,000 for the pop diva’s seventh studio collection. Though it’s nearly half the 505,000 in sales the singer put up with 2008’s Circus, the debut easily outpaces the week’s #2 showing by Wiz Khalifa, whose Rolling Papers moved 197,000, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. Among the other debuts in the top 10 are the physical release of Radiohead’s latest, King of Limbs (#6, 69,000), Snoop Dogg ‘s Doggumentary (#8, 50,000) and Mary Mary ‘s Something Big, which rounds out the new titles at #10 on sales of 42,000. The rest of the top 10: Adele , 21 (#3, 94,000), Chris Brown , F.A.M.E. (#4, 91,000, down 66 percent), Songs for Japan (#5, 71,000), Jennifer Hudson , I Remember Me (#7, down 66 percent) and Kirk Franklin , Hello Fear (#9, 46,000). After debuting at #4 last week, the Strokes take a bit of a dive down to #18, as sales of Angles leveled off by 76 percent to 21,000. The hard-charging soundtrack to the critically panned fantasy film “Sucker Punch” actually rises nine spots in its second week to #22 on sales of 20,000. The soundtrack to the “Grey’s Anatomy: The Musical Event” episode comes in at #24 (19,000), while Sum 41 ‘s Screaming Bloody Murder inches on to the charts at #31 (15,000) and Panic! at the Disco plunge 25 places in week two to #32 with Vices & Virtues (15,000). A number of indie darlings also make their chart debuts, including the Mountain Goats with All Eternals Deck (#71, 9,000), the Pains of Being Pure at Heart , Belong (#91, 6,000) and Peter Bjorn and John , Gimme Some (#108, 6,000). Britney also tops the iTunes albums chart, edging out the Songs for Japan compilation, followed by Khalifa, Adele, the “Grey’s Anatomy” album, Mumford & Sons ‘ Sigh No More and albums by Brown, Radiohead, the self-titled effort from Sara Ramirez and the “Sucker Punch” soundtrack. Black Eyed Peas rule the iTunes singles chart with “Just Can’t Get Enough,” winning out over Katy Perry ‘s “E.T.,” Rihanna ‘s “S&M,” Perry’s “E.T.” without Kanye West, then Khalifa’s “No Sleep,” Brown’s “Look at Me Now,” Jennifer Lopez ‘s “On the Floor,” Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep,” Cee Lo Green ‘s “Forget You” and Lady Gaga ‘s “Born This Way.” Next week will see new albums from Foo Fighters , TV on the Radio , Paul Simon and Jessie J . ‘American Idol’ Is TV’s Top-Earning Series

Show raked in $7.1 million per half hour in 2010, while ‘Two and a Half Men’ comes in at #2. By Gil Kaufman Ryan Seacrest, Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson Photo: Tony Duran/ FOX Last year was a rocky one for “American Idol.” From the turmoil on the judging panel with uncomfortable short-timer Ellen DeGeneres (and the firing of Kara DioGuardi) to lackluster winner Lee DeWyze and the eventual departure of lead judge Simon Cowell, you’d think “Idol” would have suffered as a result. But, according to Forbes magazine, not only did “Idol” retain its ratings crown in 2010, it was also the biggest moneymaker on TV. The show brought in an astounding $7.11 million per half hour for the Fox network according to estimates tallied by the financial magazine. As big a number as that is, the figure was actually a 12 percent drop from 2009, but still enough to top the Forbes list of TV cash cows. Despite fears that the nearly wholesale changes on the judging panel and the debut of untested TV stars Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez at the desk might throw the ratings for “Idol” off this season, so far the show is holding steady. After initial ratings slumps in the audition episodes, the show is now down just 1 percent for the season and appears to be rebounding to its former heights. “Idol” was far-and-away the list leader on the Forbes tally, followed by the troubled “Two and a Half Men,” whose 2010 shows earned $2.89 million per half hour in what will now be remembered as former star Charlie Sheen’s final full season. Forbes predicted it will be hard to keep those numbers up without polarizing star Sheen, whom producers are reportedly looking to replace. The rest of the list includes: “Desperate Housewives” ($2.74 million), “Grey’s Anatomy” ($2.67 million), “Dancing With the Stars” ($2.67 million), “Lost” ($2.60 million), “The Big Bang Theory” ($2.50 million), “24” ($2.45 million), “Private Practice” ($2.32 million) and “Mike & Molly” ($2.11 million). Kate Middleton Wedding Outfit: Did She Boob?

Last month, a tabloid pretended that Kate Middleton was in crisis , mostly due to a few leaked photos that depicted her family in an embarrassing situation. But this story is very real, and very troubling: the princess-to-be was spotted at a wedding in Boroughbridge, donning an ensemble that many in the British press considered too revealing. Based on the sheer top above, British newspaper News of the World wondered if William’s fiancee went bra-lass, headlining a front-page article with: “Did Kate Boob?” It’s a pressing question, one answered by Royal Watcher Katie Nicholl, who told Us Weekly : “Kate doesn’t have a stylist, so she is making her own fashion decisions at the moment. The outfit could be considered racy, but it was also beautiful and elegant.” Do you agree? Or did Middleton cross a line?

Demi Lovato Wins Two People’s Choice Awards

The Disney star was honored with trophies in the Favorite TV Guest Star and Favorite Family TV Movie categories. By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato (file) Photo: Jason LaVeris/ WireImage Demi Lovato may be out of the spotlight as she seeks treatment, but that doesn’t mean that fans have forgotten about her. On Wednesday night at the People’s Choice Awards , the teen actress/singer won two awards. Lovato took home the Favorite TV Guest Star trophy for her cameo appearance on the ABC medical soap “Grey’s Anatomy,” while her hit Disney film, “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam,” also was a winner in the Favorite Family TV Movie category. A rep for Lovato had no official comment regarding the Disney star’s honors. There is no word on when Lovato will be released from treatment, but a new season of her hit Disney show, “Sonny With a Chance,” is set to kick off this month. Right now, Disney plans to move forward with the season and focus on the show within the show, “So Random,” until its star is ready to return to work. “This allows her the time she needs to get well, without distraction or pressure,” a Disney Channel spokesperson told Variety in November. “Again, we extend our ongoing support to Demi and her family as she works to overcome personal issues.” Lovato is still slated to hit the road for a solo tour sometime this year to promote her forthcoming album. She recently talked with The Associated Press about her plan to keep ticket prices low for the tour. “I have best friends that aren’t in the industry and are dealing with just buying groceries and things like that, so I want to do my part,” she said. Before she entered treatment, Lovato discussed her new music with MTV News, sharing that she hoped to go in a more urban direction with it. “I would love for Drake to be on the album,” she said. “It’s kind of like a pipe dream. I would also like to do a song with Trey Songz. It would be hot!” Want to congratulate Demi? Send her a message in the comments.
