Sarah Drew Had a Problem with Her Grey’s Anatomy Exit

Can Sarah Drew be honest for a few minutes? Can she just go ahead and keep it real for a moment? Okay, great. The actress really appreciates it. As you very likely know by now, Drew was let go from Grey’s Anatomy in March, about two months before the end of Season 14. She had starred as Dr. April Kepner for years and was considered a fan favorite, which is why both Drew and millions of viewers out there felt blindsided by ABC’s decision . While producers have not come out and said it, both Drew and Jessica Capshaw were not brought back to the series for budgetary reasons. This is the assumption most fans have been making at least. As for how April was written off the drama? Her storyline wrapped up for good up when she got married to former fiance Matthew Taylor and left Seattle. And now Drew has spoken out for the first time about whether she thinks April received a proper send-off. “In the moment it felt rushed, to be perfectly honest,” the actress told Entertainment Tonight about her depature, adding: “I felt like it wasn’t really earned because we just didn’t get enough time. We [had] like a scene together that whole season and hadn’t seen each other for four years before that. “I would’ve liked to have actually grown their relationship to a point where it felt earned for them to get married.” That’s a very fair point. It’s reasonable to wonder how far in advance ABC made the choice not to bring Drew back for Season 15. Still, Drew wants to make it clear: She isn’t really complaining. She’s grateful for her time on the show and she can even see how her character’s closing arc made a special kind of sense. “In hindsight, I think there is something beautifully redemptive that goes along with April’s return to faith and rebirth,” she told ET, continuing as follows: “The person that she hurt the most in her life was the man she left at the altar, and the redemption story comes full circle in the reconciliation between the two of them. Even in the darkest and the most painful of relationship experiences, there can still be healing and hope and love and joy, so there was something about that that I could totally get behind. “I just wish we’d had a little more time to play it out. Finally, while Drew has moved on (she’s currently starring in a movie called Indivisble ), she isn’t bitter toward producers or anything. Heck, she’d likely make a return to Grey’s Anatomy if the opportunity ever presented itself. “I’ll never say never because they are my family. I still love everyone over there,” she said when ths topic was broached, concluding: “I love that community and I still have such an incredible space in my heart for everyone over there, but I really do feel like, because of how it went down, I really had to part ways with April. “I just had to. “There was no way for me to live in a space of possibility of her returning and also be healthy in my letting go of all of it, so I really have said goodbye to her.” View Slideshow: Grey’s Anatomy Spoilers: It’s About to Go DOWN in Season 15

American Horror Story Recap: Where Are the Witches?!

The latest installment of American Horror Story: Apocalypse was heavy on the rubber, but light on the witches.  We kicked things off with Michael Langdon parading around Outpost 3 with hair that looks very similar to what his mother had all those years ago.  He wasted no time in asserting his power in the lair, and Venable was livid. If you watch American Horror Story online, you know that Venable had a lot of rules about sleeping arrangements.  Primarily, she did not want anyone in the Outpost sleeping with each other. For those at home yelling about how it won’t be possible to repopulate the Earth, we hear you.  Timothy and Emily decided they wanted to have fun, and by that, they wanted to sleep with each other. It’s the end of the world, so why not? They weren’t buying what Venable was selling about abstinence, so they broke into Michael’s room and found a conveniently placed laptop.  There, they found emails between Michael and The Cooperative. That’s when they found out that Venable was lying about not having sexual contact.  Venable was furious when the two teenagers went forward and had sex with each other. Venable ordered their deaths, but Timothy and Ash fought back.  Miriam wound up shot, but there was something amiss with her flesh. Is she even a real person?  As for Michael, he had a lot of sexual chemistry with Mr. Gallant, so much so that it seemed he was dressing up as the Rubber Man from Murder House and having sex with him.  But Michael was adamant he was not the one dressing up, and that he should try to find out the truth on his own.  Evie, Mr. Gallant’s mother, witnessed the sex between him and the Rubber Man and took the news to Miriam and Venable.  The pair tried to whip him to get the answers, but they realized when they looked down that he was getting off on the pain.  In a truly stunning shock, the Rubber Man showed up again, but Mr. Gallant opted to stab him because he was done with the mind games.  That’s when we learned that Evie had been body-swapped and was dead at the hands of her grandson. Well, at least she won’t be ratting on him any longer.  Elsewhere, Michael confronted Venable for lying to everyone about the rules, but Venable was not ready to back down.  She said that she was sent the rules, and she was following them. However, she did not have a copy of them at hand for Michael to cast his eye on.  Michael said that he was the one who sent the rules, calling her bluff. Oh, yes, there’s a power struggle between these two, and we’re all in for it.  View Slideshow: Grey’s Anatomy Spoilers: It’s About to Go DOWN in Season 15 While the episode had a lot of action, the preview for it claimed the witches would make their entrance into Outpost 3.  That did not happen, and the only excuse for that is that FX was trying to stop the typical week two drop the franchise has been known for.  What are your thoughts on this installment?  Hit the comments below.  American Horror Story continues Wednesday on FX!

Grey’s Anatomy: Have Fans Actually Enacted a Boycott?

At this point in the nearly 14-season run of Grey’s Anatomy, you’d think fans would be used to cast turnover. Over the years, viewers have been forced to say goodbye to such series regulars as Katherine Heigl, Isaiah Washington, Sandra Oh, T.R. Knight, Eric Dane and Patrick Dempsey. Just to name a few. Last week, however, producers confirmed that neither Sarah Drew nor Jessica Capshaw would return for Season 15, prompting some major outrage from loyal Grey’s supporters. The former has portrayed Dr. April Kepner for nine years and the latter Dr. Arizona Robbins for a decade. “The characters of Arizona and April are permanently woven into the fabric of Grey’s Anatomy thanks to the extraordinary work of Jessica Capshaw and Sarah Drew,” wrote executive producer Krista Vernoff upon announcing this stunning news. She continued at the time: “As writers, our job is to follow the stories where they want to go, and sometimes that means saying goodbye to characters we love. “It has been a joy and a privilege to work with these phenomenally talented actresses.” Both stars released statements in the wake of their dismissals, each handling the decision with grace and maturity. But not all viewers have reacted the same way. Last Thursday’s installment of Grey’s Anatomy, for example, earned a series low rating. Last night’s installment of the drama, meanwhile, ticked up a slight bit… but was still a significant drop from previous outings this season and last season. Does this mean the push for a boycott from a handful of fans on social media is working? At one point over the past several days, the hashtag “#BoycottGreys went viral, as fans came together to protest yet another example of cast upheaveal on this long-running program. Moreover, many of these same critics believe Ellen Pompeo is actually to blame for her co-stars getting the boot. The show’s lead signed a new $20 million contract in January, prompting some folks out there to think no money was leftover for Drew and Capshaw. There’s no evidence of this, of course. ABC has said the stars were being let go for “creative reasons,” while Pompeo wasted no time at all shooting down this rude and unfair chatter. “Its unfortunate that @DEADLINE chooses to try to pit women against each other on #InternationalWomensDay #shameonyounotme,” Tweeted Pompeo a week ago, addressing a website that implied Pompeo’s salary was related to Drew and Capshaw’s fate. Vernoff was similarly upset over this insinuation. Wrote the producer on Twitter: The suggestion … that our cast changes are in any way related to Ellen Pompeo‘s salary renegotiation is wrong and hurtful and misguided. It smacks of an old, broken, patriarchal notion that women must be pitted against each other and that one woman’s success will be costly to others. Ellen Pompeo has not only advocated passionately for her fellow cast members, she has taken the time to educate women worldwide as to how to advocate for themselves and that must not now be twisted. The real question in the wake of this ratings drop, of course, is this: Will ABC actually renew Grey’s Anatomy for Season 15? It has not done so yet.

Rebecca Gayheart and Eric Dane: The Marriage is Over!

After 14 years, two daughters and at least one well-publicized threesome, Rebecca Gayheart and Eric Dane have decided to end their marriage. Or Gayheart has decided to end her marriage, to be more specific. The actress filed for divorce from her long-time husband on Friday, with Dane confirming the split to People Magazine via the following statement: “After 14 years together we have decided that ending our marriage is the best decision for our family. “We will continue our friendship and work as a team to co-parent our two beautiful girls as they are the most important thing in the world to us. “We kindly ask that you respect our privacy during this time as we navigate the next phase of our lives.” Gayheart is reportedly seeking spousal support and joint legal and physical custody of their two daughters: seven-year Billie and six-year old Georgia, 6. She cited irreconcilable differences as the cause of divorce. Gayheart is best known for movies such as Jawbreaker and Scream 2 and for a role many years ago on Beverly Hills 90210. Dane rose to television fame as Mark “McSteamy” Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy, prior to being killed off in 2012 and then landing the lead role on TNT’s The Last Ship. He took a hiatus from the show last spring due to depression and other mental health issues , about six years after he also sought professional help for an addiction to painkillers. “I took some time off… I was dealing with some depression, which was kind of odd to me,” Dane explained on July 31 as a guest host on the Today Show. He added at the time: “I felt very conflicted about it because I didn’t really feel like I had anything to be depressed about… “Now I take a medication called Pristiq … and the depression is gone … I’m doing OK.” “It’s a very serious thing,” Dane continued. “But it’s very real, and that was the scary thing when you wake up and you’re like, ‘I don’t want to get out of bed’ … this just hit me like a truck. “I had to take some time off, I went away and took care of it and I’m feeling great.” In 2009, meanwhile, Dane and Gayheart made headlines after a sex tape leaked that featured the couple in some compromising positions with a third party. The 12-minute footage depicted a great deal of nudity, a lot of giggling and, we can only presume, a lot of drug use. The other member of the famous threesome was former Miss Teen USA Kari Ann Peniche. But anyway. We wish Dane and Gayheart well and hope they work out an amicable resolution for the sake of their kids. View Slideshow: 19 Most Stunning Splits in Celebrity History

Javi Marroquin: I Ditched Briana DeJesus After Her Surgery!

It’s looking like Miami will continue to be the center of Teen Mom 2 drama next week! Here’s a brief recap of everything that’s been going on in the Sunshine State, in case you haven’t been keeping up: First, Briana DeJesus and Kailyn Lowry both flew to Miami for plastic surgery sessions with the appropriately-named Dr. Miami. Kailyn canceled her procedure after experiencing a last-minute change of heart. Briana did go under the knife, and Dr. Miami shared her before and after photos on his social media pages today. (That may seem a bit sleazy, but you have to understand that plastic surgeons are basically the Charlie Sheens of the medical community.) Anyway, despite the fact that the past two days saw more surgical drama than an entire season of Grey’s Anatomy , the big story out of Miami this week is the news that Briana and Javi Marroquin are already back together after breaking up last month. Or at least they were … Javi joined Briana in Florida so he could be by her side in the hours leading up to her procedure. Fans assumed he would stick with her during her recovery, but just hours after her procedure, Javi was on Snapchat announcing that he was looking to go out and party in Miami. When fans accused him of ditching Briana, Javi offered no explanation or apology. Just the day before he was making appearances on her Snapchat, and all appeared to be well. So what went wrong in the interim? Well, there’s been no official word, but we’re guessing the surprise appearance by Briana’s baby daddy, Devoin Austin, didn’t sit well with Javi. Yes, it seems Devoin showed up, and a rightfully pissed-off Javi immediately took off. “I should’ve never went,” Javi told Radar Online about the incident. “I should’ve went to LA like I was supposed to. We broke up for a reason and yesterday reassured me of that.” To make matters worse, it seems Javi’s ex-wife has been keeping close tabs on the situation and loving every second of it. All week, Kailyn has been teasing fans with the prospect of a big revelation involving Javi. Many assumed that the Devoin situation was the tea that she planned to spill, but a tweet she posted moments ago suggests there’s more big Javi news in the offing: “Everyone’s asking where the tea is at but Javi’s been through enough so I’m not gona put him through more shit,” Lowry wrote. Sounds like Javi is having one hell of a rough week. He might actually need more recovery time than Briana. Watch Teen Mom 2 online to relive the many ups and downs in the life of Mr. Marroquin. Drake-Lee recently told the courts that she fears her children will be exposed to a ‘revolving door’ of women as Williams embraces his new single life. She also claimed the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star has a violent temper that makes her fear for her children’s well-being,  TMZ  reports. The mother of two is asking for a court order requesting that Jesse’s girlfriends stay away from their kids until he’s been dating them for atleast six months. Williams is firing back at the allegations, saying that Drake-Lee is controlling his visitations only because she has the “incredible privilege of being a stay-at-home mom with a full-time nanny.” Jesse claims Drake-Lee’s custody of the kids leads her to ‘micro-manage’ the time he spends with his family–going as far as ignoring his FaceTime calls. He also rejects the allegations that he is aggressive, saying it is Drake-Lee who yelled in front of the kids and even slammed the front door on Jesse’s leg during an altercation. Drake-Lee’s lawyer, Jill Hersh spoke to TMZ, saying that Jesse’s claims are unfounded. “It is a shame that Mr. Williams chose to place the children and his family’s transition in the public domain,” she said. Grey’s Anatomy Spinoff: Coming to ABC!

ABC confirmed some bad news and shocked fans with some amazing news on Tuesday afternoon.  First, the bad news: Scandal really is coming to an end after next year’s seventh season. Said creator Shonda Rhimes in a statement regarding the conclusion of this beloved drama: “Deciding how to end a show is easy. Deciding when to finish is quite simple when the end date is years away. But actually going through with it? Actually standing up to say: ‘This is it?’ Not so much. “So, next year we are going all out. Leaving nothing on the table. Creating this world in celebration. “We are going to handle the end the way we like to handle the important things in our Scandal family: all together, white hats on, gladiators running full speed over a cliff.” This sucks, as know. But ABC has at least softened the blow by also announcing the following: Rhimes will executive produce an upcoming Grey’s Anatomy spinoff! There may not be enough exclamation points there; allow us to rectify the mistake: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. The series will be written by longtime Grey’s Anatomy Executive Producer Stacy McKee and will premiere some time in early 2017, presumably after How to Get Away With Murder ends its season. As for what the spinoff will center on? Red. Hot. Firefighters! No casting decisions have been made and few details are available at this time. But the unnamed show will focus on a number of firemen and firewomen in Seattle. “No one can interweave the jeopardy firefighters face in the line of duty with the drama in their personal lives quite like Shonda, and Grey’s signature Seattle setting is the perfect backdrop for this exciting spinoff,” said ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey in a statement today. Added the network itself: “From the captain to the newest recruit, we follow these brave men and women as they risk their lives and their hearts both in the line of duty and off the clock.” Sounds like your basic, let’s-mix-serious-work-with-suspenseful-and-romantic-play Rhimes fare, doesn’t it? Grey’s Anatomy will conclude Season 13 this Thursday night. According to the official synopsis for Grey’s Anatomy Season 13 Episode 24 , there will be a massive explosion at the hospital, leaving many lives in jeopardy and resulting in a major cliffhanger. Sounds like the sort of thing that will require a handful of firefighters to show up on the scene, either this week or to kick off Season 14. And then… BOOM! You’ve got the beginning of your spinoff. Well played, ABC. View Slideshow: ABC Scoop: Spinoffs, Revivals, Farewells and More! Cycle through the photos above to delve into ALL the scoop doled out by ABC today. 17 Characters Who Ruined Perfectly Good TV Shows

Event the best TV shows suffer from terrible characters sometimes.  And in one way or another, these 17 TV characters managed to ruin (or nearly ruin) shows that we otherwise loved.  Take a look below to see who they are! 1. Jo Wilson (Grey’s Anatomy) Ugh. Grey’s Anatomy has had its share of annoying characters, but Jo is pretty much the worst. Her character is not only whiny and unlikeable, but focus on her has taken away from characters we’d rather pay more attention to. 2. April Nardini (Gilmore Girls) The addition of April Nardini as Luke’s daughter on GIlmore Girls was WEIRD, and it felt like a forced way to throw a wrench in Luke and Lorelai’s relationship. 3. Stuart Bloom (The Big Bang Theory) There was nothing wrong with Stuart when he first appeared on The Big Bang Theory, but after a while, his presence just become depressing… and creepy. 4. Piper Chapman (Orange is the New Black) The thing about Piper is, we liked her at first. She’s the lead character we followed into Litchfield, and we watched as she adjusted to life in prison. But after the first season? Ugh. She changed for the worse, and now her stories just take away from the rest of the cast. 5. Marissa Cooper (The O.C.) Marissa Cooper was a problem for The O.C. from the very beginning. Even though she was unbearable to watch, other characters managed to keep us coming back. 6. Connor (Angel) Things on Angel really took a turn when Angel and Darla’s son Connor returned as a fully grown teenager, and not in a good way. View Slideshow
